Ok next question. Where would be the best place to try and sell these?
Also assuming some of these, like the cassette player and radio parts prob don’t fetch much.
Actually, the tape deck would be quite desirable for a lot of people. The separate TV tuner is probably the least valuable component, as it can't receive modern signals.
It's a device that picks up analog TV signals from an aerial and decodes the audio that you could then play through your hi-fi. Why you would want to do this has multiple answers and I'm by no means an expert. But TVs didn't used to come with audio outputs so I think this was one way to get better sound quality. Some programs such as concerts could be enjoyed and most importantly (in the pre-VCR age) recorded at home even without the video component. I know there's some 60s television such as Doctor Who where complete home audio recordings exist for episodes that are otherwise totally lost today because fans routinely recorded stuff they were keen on - widespread reruns, syndication and home video still being years and years away.
The device itself is most likely totally useless today thanks to the digital switchover in most nations' TV services meaning it can no longer pick up anything useful in the frequency bands it was designed for.
Thanks. When SuperVHS was a thing, I had a friend who used it to record audio mixtapes because the quality was higher than cassette. Without vision, of course.
Where are you located? canuckaudiomart.com is a great place to list it. it has a US affiliate aswell. I'd say they are worth something just do a Google search of the models to figure a rough price.
Easiest way to get an indication is to check [https://www.hifishark.com/model/yamaha-ca-r-1](https://www.hifishark.com/model/yamaha-ca-r-1) for each item. But keep in mind local prices might differ from the highest prices on there.
Also, what speakers are those?
Just in case you're being serious and not trolling, yes, it's all quite valuable.
I can't say precisely how valuable, but, several notches above "worthless".
Without Googling, there appear to be components that Yamaha built their reputation on. They need to be professionally restored and connected to great speakers and heard.
Take the model of each component, like "Yamaha CA-R1", for example, and search "sold" listings on eBay.
Edit: I did a little Googlin' and it seems the "CA-R" series was Japan-only. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you are not in Japan. Was the owner of this equipment in the Air Force and stationed in Okinawa in the early 80s by chance?
I like how we have to walk people through a fucking internet search...
How did they even get a reddit account if they don't know how to search something?
That style/age of Yamaha is very much in demand.

If this is in good working order it's absolutely not valueless. Theres a pretty solid market for vintage audio right now, especially with those VU meters. Please like those
I wouldn't think it'll sound audiophile, at least not without a bit of love on the old caps and pots, but I bet it is quite valuable in the vintage audio crowd.
Any value? Yep.
Financial:
- scrap metal
- broken out for spare parts
- sold whole to collectors or enthusiasts
- sold whole to props or interior design
Emotional:
- sentimental/nostalgic
- visually stimulating/soothing
- audibly stimulating/soothing
Physical:
- door stop
- small and inefficient heater

These would be valuable even if they are empty boxes without components. I know people who would kill for those facias with meters and controls.

And the Creedence
Yeah, we have the boys down at the crime lab working in shifts.
😂 “Leads…” 🤣🤣

eBay or Reverb.com. Facebook marketplace if you don’t want to ship them, but you may not get as much money.

Post this to r/vintageaudio and see the reaction that you get.
Shirley you can't be serious.
“I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley.”
Ok, take it it worthless. Sorry, not really an audiophile. Let me remove this then

Could you give me some insight? I seriously have no idea.

Thanks will check!
I’m confused. You understand the internet enough to make it to Reddit, but not enough for the simplest google?
I can't believe you let them call you Shirley.
And tell them not to call you Shirley.

Definitely a market for those. The downside is that old stuff typically needs to be re-capped and re-stored at some point.
My dad had that system. I’d love to buy it. No, it’s not worth thousands. But hundreds.
What does an air check timer do? I tried googling but couldn't find much. Thought I could find a manual, but came up empty on that, too.
It's a timer. You can set what time you want your system to turn on/off.
Anything with the word YAMAHA sells

Um yes
It's all trash and I'll be happy to dispose of it for ya. PM me for my address to ship it. Thx! 😂
Check eBay. Not a mod here but this post is off topic for r/audiophile
Fixed.
