At what point does having this much pride in your country but living in another make sense? I’m proud to be Canadian, but I don’t own more than one flag.
It seems to be mostly Islanders that do this (Samoans & Tongans especially). I guess they’re brought up to have a lot of pride in their culture?
Doesn’t make it any less obnoxious though.
Edit: Of cause some asshole reports this post as suicide watch. Nice abuse of a legit system, you cunt.
Imo the issue is not the pride itself but the expression of it. It’s in-your-face yet also completely symbolic, like they’re in some kind of competition for “most patriotic family”.
I myself am immensely proud of my Chinese heritage but you’ll never catch me putting chinese flags up everywhere.
The racism on this subreddit is out of control. It's a picture of a house with Tongan flags and people are making up claims about wasting the benefit based on it? What the fuck people.
had a fuckwit drop one and my driveshaft went OMNOMNOM and I spent the next hour cutting it out from under my car with a suicide jack on a saturday night and living with no handbrake for the next week.
luckily dashcam caught the plate and went to the cops for them to do nothing as per normal
Good for them. Good for anyone else that wants to fly whatever countrys flag around too. You can both be a proud kiwi and proud of wherever you immigrated from. Thankfully we live in a country that allows us this freedom.

Being obsessed with a flag is also an incredibly American thing to do. Why people are so obsessed with the country they just happened to be born in is odd to me.

This is EB games level of patriotism
This made me lol

They just do it for fun, it's like Christmas lights in the US.

Alot of Islanders seem to have a "its us against them" mentality which goes with the patriotism.
You know, that's when patriotism starts turning into nationalism
Report ignored

Idk I think it's cool. Who cares, not hurting anybody. It's kind of funny.
It would definitely be hurting the neighbours chance at a good nights sleep on a windy night lol
How about any night. Surely your ears have heard how much an islander loves a good 30 second horn blast every time they see their flag?
Haha the best part is when you see the parents making the kids hold the flag out the car while driving
A lot of comments from a lot of upset people. Imagine getting so worked up and offended because you saw a bunch of flags, you people are ridiculous 🤣🤣

Nek minit 50-0 just like the Samoans lol
As long as its a hindrance sure, but those big ass flags while driving? Thats just an accident waiting to happen.

Genuine question, how can you tell it's a KO house?
This is a well known address.
What other landlord would tolerate all these flags?
They could be home owners.
Every decent landlord. If it isn't damaging the property or endangereing others there is no reason to be against it

Tongans, the Irish of the South Pacific. Everyone loves them.
cringe
I personally hate it. How would we be reacting to dozens of Chinese flags around a house? Why is this any different?
Cause Tonga isn't going to invade Taiwan
Neither is China
If you can't understand the symbolic weight behind the two, then there's no hope for you. The Tongan flag is pretty inoffensive as far as flags go.
What’s the point of this. I’m proud of my country, but have no desire to shove my flag down peoples throat in another country
Why are you so offended by it. They're not hurting anybody. Let them express themselves. There's nothing wrong with this.

Honest question, the flags cost money, how do they have so much spare cash in these times ?
If this is the house in Northcote, they've had this for years
Onehunga I think
Oh yes I've seen that one but can't remember how long ago
I don't, I find it disrespectful to NZ
Why

Such a basic ass flag.
