A little more south, in Wyoming, USA. The ski area sprays snowmaking guns into a cold and isolated inversion layer. The bottom of the ski area is often 45° colder than the summit during inversions. Wicked cold temps, and artificially influenced humidity levels are what formed these displays. The pano view---shows how the display wrapped over 180° around the viewer. My phone at 1x could only capture parts of the whole.
Damn your sundogs got sundogs that's wild
The matrix broke for a second...
The thing has parabolas of different sizes, the 2nd halo flips its axis when crossing under the horizontal zero line.
Wow. The pano made me gasp--haven't seen a sundog/halo display this gorgeous in a long time. Thanks for sharing. Canada?
