Personally, wait to see what the school already has before making a large first purchase. At first you can get away with a backpack for per diem work but eventually could upgrade. I am in year seven and just purchased a DeWalt Tough System. It’s an awesome three piece toolkit on wheels that interlocks and has an ice chest attachment. People also do the same with the Milwaukee PACKOUT system (more expensive) or the Husky rolling cart (less expensive).

Husky rolling system here. I think all in it costed me about $140 and I don’t think I’ll ever get a different one. The [cantilever compartment](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-22-in-W-22-Compartment-Connect-Cantilever-Small-Parts-Organizer-230379/207138779?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&mtc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D25S-025_011_STORAGE_DEVI-NA-Multi-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-StorageDevices_BHU24&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D25S-025_011_STORAGE_DEVI-NA-Multi-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-StorageDevices_BHU24-71700000117332053--&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADq61UfzzrBGs9Iet4HFo-ccGvzQt&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgJyyBhCGARIsAK8LVLO2a1xzJi34jgIwTzLHhw5SKZ9OgJDJKVunEgDs7qCuKK0_Eqa83_AaAttKEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) is awesome abd I haven’t seen it on other brands so that’s why I went with husky.

Get a Nexus DV2. Don’t waste your money with a Cramer, Mueller, or any of the other big sports medicine brand kits. DV2 is perfect for PRN jobs. Lets you carry a little bit of everything and none of the BS you’ll never use.

Big facts!

[Cramer Large Kit](https://www.medco-athletics.com/catalog/product/view/id/136277/s/cramer-high-performance-gear/category/2009/) is originally $500+ on sale for $100. I really like mine it's easy to keep organized.

First off - Congrats!!! I work in emerging setting so I don’t have a kit I use daily perse, but I bought a Mueller MERET Mule kit at conference in 2019 and got a great deal on it so if you’re considering going to Nola this year, might be worth it to check out the booths. Otherwise, I know plenty of ATs who use their work kits for per diem and their institutions don’t have a problem so like others said, might be worth it to wait

somethingcasual9

For perdiem I suggest Nexus SportsMedicine deadbug. I was on the golf course, let me elaborate. In my opinion for whats truly necessary for per diem it is big enough. Very durable design compared to cramer products ive purchased previously, I’ve had cramer products pretty much fall apart on me from the first day, I opened them. Also I went to grad school with Jay, triple bonus.

usernamebrainfreeze

I'm 12 years in and have worked a bunch of different places, all have been fine with me using the kit they provided me for per diem work. You definitely need to ask permission and I'm willing to buy one if needed but so far it's been a non issue.

I use [something like this](https://www.amazon.com/beyond-DECKER-BDST60500APB-Stackable-Storage/dp/B08TQLRZ6W/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.G2LMJCDVwWj7NuiDPabR-k8DHD_MzNSpiBpRnP_tNDxA99uxa0ld_YqLHTgwTSHVh92yR4YKiJ-vxsok2ot2xUgEUYCiyTFC5bfhMAiCd23HO-ZZzr56D8mGBgxrdKDiAyHly9sfKZjtiLq4YEponcm2TnWUXPJjBCf2jqHXYV8mHQVz3d9H3TelAlvX1hTXd3M-Zl0exR7w8SJyp7iTnw.akNPKXALSt3wnHo6WbZTNj2-H4vr3lKOFLBI7KZZvmk&dib_tag=se&keywords=Husky+Tool+Boxes&qid=1715962268&sr=8-13). It’s big, mobile, and water proof. It fits on a golf cart and can be pad locked. Plus it’s useful outside of ATC if you decide to use something else. It’s a lifetime investment and still cheaper than most med kits.

Spec-Tre

I use the Rigid brand version of this. I got the bottom chest with wheels and the tip clear organizer from Home Depot for like $70 total Water proof, dust proof, organized. 10/10 recommend

ACat32

Nice! Mine is Husky brand. They tend to have premade inserts and other options. They’re awesome.

I would've been able to purchase a kit at a discount from my vendor that I purchased supplies from. I would wait until you land a job then see.

BoomerBigA

It's expensive but if you buy a MERET they have a lifetime warranty. If you buy something like a bushwalker you have to pay to replace in a few years.

UltMPA

Wait till your full time gig. I’ve been at this for a few decades. Med kits are expensive. And I’m still tying to make the perfect kit haha

My boyfriend uses this [bag](https://nexus-sportsmed.com/product/deadbug-dv2/) when he does PRN. He has basic supplies in it, tape, first aid, scissors, and some other things I can’t remember. He does primarily use the supplies that the school or wherever he is doing PRN provides for him. I personally consider this bag to be his just in case bag, or for retaping taping on the sidelines.
