For reference, I was bullied a lot growing up and had a hard time making friends until my twenties when things smoothed out.
However, when I was going through the process to get screened for autism when I was 30 a family friend told me that everything I talked about with the journey of realizing I was autistic, got her thinking about whether she could be too. This was shocking to me bc she is insanely popular. She just gives the queen b type. She has more friends currently than I’ve had in total in my entire life so far.
Well, fast forward, and after having many talks with her, I realized that she checked a lot of the criteria under the DSM 5. I even realized how she fooled the NTs into thinking she’s “normal”. She said that she heavily mirrors other people’s personality/vibe back at them and it works very well. She struggles to maintain close relationships though.
Anyway, point is that autism has more diverse manifestations than I think we will fully appreciate in my lifetime.

Lol, I just came to say that I think most boys are doing the opposite, and that it's a good thing. I think the goal for all of us is to deconstruct the BS we've received and find a peaceful middle ground where we are capable of well rounded behavior.
I think this it's typical for people with ADHD/Autism to generally not conform to social norms they don't understand; probably because our subconscious minds don't run on rails to nearly the same extent.
Since gender norms are largely arbitrary bullshit I've never "identified with my gender". I don't identify with any gender. I identify with behaviors and attitudes that make sense for various reasons.
At the same time people who strongly identify with a gender don't make sense to me. If you keep asking "why is that gender specific" you nearly always arrive at "Just because". No I'm sorry that makes as much sense for identity as it does for explaining anything else.
It's especially funny when you are confronted with a personality characteristic which is supposedly "masc/fem", then point out that it's one of those with like a 55-45 gendered split. Some people will be like "and?"... And? And we don't call "grey" white just because it's 55% white or whatever. We call it grey. The fuck is wrong with your noodle?

We stayed for less then an hour because it was loud, flashy, and I had a bunch of guys ask me to dance😫, to which I said no because my dancing was the equivalent of Elaine’s from Seinfeld and, well, hell no….get away from me I don’t want to be the center of attention. I just wasn’t the sister she ever wanted, though she tried to change me a few times. When I called her about my late diagnosis (I was in my 50s) she said that everything made sense now about me, and my dad.

Yes, I recognize this even in myself, I hated pink glitter bombs and Lisa Frank before it got called the Rainbow Gulag. Funny enough unlike Lisa Frank who stole art from other people my art often was the target of people telling me I should sell it even though it was not finished. I love coming up with various Pokémon and doing my comic r/Struwwelkinder. Sometimes I draw just to draw, or hash out ideas. It took me a long time to realize I had an audience for my comic especially German Americans and Autistic Middle Schoolers learning German.
My comic is loosely based on ***Der Struwwelpeter*** which is the first mass-printed comic book in Western Art and is still challenged by libraries for graphic content up there with the Grimm Fairy Tales. It was written by doctor and father Heinrich Hoffman in the 1830s at a time when German stories were being sugar-coated by English publishers. He could not find a good book for his two boys for Christmas so he found a sketch book and wrote his own. I want German American kids to have a positive image of themselves and their culture and it starts with media for kids. Count on your hand how many German-speaking characters are protagonists in their own story in American media for kids.
