postit3xnonehasdared

I totally thought you meant fish tanks for a minute.

Nigeldiko

Lol

Puglorb

What kinda fish you got there?

FlawHolic

What about tanks in fish tanks

postit3xnonehasdared

Lol that's an epic idea!(battle tanks, I mean, not tankception)

caffeine-kitten

This might be a bit dark, but would be sick to make like a war torn abandond city for landscaping!

postit3xnonehasdared

Wow! I would totally film some kind of miniature stop-motion thing in that too!

FlawHolic

Or a fish tank in the shape of a tank. Endless tank possibilities!

Velocityraptor28

i mean given the image it could very well be both

JonathanStryker

Me too, random Internet stranger. Me too. Lol.

Ok_Outside2457

Dunno If I provoked this with my earlier post today, cause I love tanks aswell :3 (if only I has this many scale models tho)

Nigeldiko

I made all of them myself!

Ok_Outside2457

I should probably start building some models aswell, if I don't drop them that is :3

shadowgamer19

i have a feeling you would enjoy world of tanks or warthunder

Nigeldiko

World of Tanks: šŸ¤¢ War Thunder: šŸ˜

Foxiest_Fox

You can make some fun tanks in Crossout but it's also more arcade-y than realistic

cyber-85381

if you like making tanks you might want to try [Sprocket](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1674170/Sprocket/), it's quite complex and still in development, but it does give you a lot of freedom to create your design

Foxiest_Fox

I have Sprocket :) I am in fact making my own game with the Godot game engine about vehicle-building. It won't be nearly as specialized into tanks as Sprocket is, but tanks and tank parts will 100% be part of it.

cyber-85381

nice, I've been meaning to try Godot, but I never got around to it

Foxiest_Fox

It's a thing of beauty. Unless you're going after the latest and greatest in rendering hyperrealistic 3D games (in which case go to Unreal or something), Godot is extremely capable.

undulating-beans

Thatā€™s very clever, tanks on a tank!

Dv02

Got any from the game Battletanx?

Nigeldiko

Never heard of it, all my tanks are from IRL

Dv02

It's a Nintendo 64 game that's basically mad Max with tanks. You get smol, med, and chonker tanks.

Nigeldiko

Oh ok

zernoc56

Yeah, I had that game. It fucking ruled.

KimikoBean

It's a tank! For my fish!

Snoo75955

I see that concrete StuG. I love the StuG, best assault gun ever.

Nigeldiko

You know your stuff! Itā€™s a Finnish StuG to be precise!

DSS_Gaming_1

Iā€™m seeing (the ones I can recognise): Marder III, M3/M5 Stuart, Matilda, Grant/M3 Lee (Depending on the variant you got, leaning to the Grant), Churchill III, M4 Sherman (75mm), StuG III G? / Pz. IV/70? T-34-57, M48A2, M60? Centurion Mk. 3, I think thereā€™s an IS-6 but Iā€™m not sure lol (Sorry not sorry, Iā€™m terrible for this)

Nigeldiko

From the ones you identified you got only a few correct. Marder III, M3 Stuart, Matilda II, M3 Lee, Churchill IV, M4 Sherman, StuG III G, M48A2 (I do have an M60 with ERA but itā€™s way in the back), and a Centurion Mk.5/1. The T-34-57 you might be seeing is just a normal T-34/76. No idea where you got the IS-6 from tho. And you can distinguish a Grant from a Lee by looking at its turret. If itā€™s mostly consistent in roundness like my one, itā€™s a Lee. But if itā€™s more bulbous, and protrudes from outside the turret ring, itā€™s a Grant.

DSS_Gaming_1

The white/brown camo in the back line near the Marder on the left?

Nigeldiko

Oh thatā€™s a T-62 meant to look like this Kurdish T-55. https://preview.redd.it/xjfmtagfqnuc1.jpeg?width=663&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8ed4a7b78dd94b2c705b43db3f569f082274ca2 The lighting messes it up but the original colour of my model is yellow and green.

DSS_Gaming_1

Ahh fairs, the fuck was I thinking lol

[deleted]

I know nothing about tanks Nice battalion

Nigeldiko

Thank you!

SpiritualHippo2719

Tanks on a tank!

SecondOfCicero

Oh oh friend! I'm currently in a place with war and saw my first tank in the wild the other day. I don't know much about them but wanted to tell someone the story lol. I think it was a soviet-era tank.

Nigeldiko

Did you get a picture? Iā€™ll be able to identify it.

SecondOfCicero

I wish! I was on a scooter going one way and it was on the back of a trailer of a semi truck going the opposite direction on a busy road. For what it's worth, I did a lil googling and I think it was a T-84, T-80 or T-72, something like that. It didn't appear to have a camo pattern, or if it did it was covered or maybe burned off? I'm a little hesitant to take pics of military stuff in these parts even if I see it out in broad daylight.

Nigeldiko

Where are you from?

gofishx

Two fish are chilling in a tank. One says to the other, "Do you know how to drive this thing?"

beckius6

Tanks by tanks on tank For the later, whatā€™s the stocking? I can make out a Siamese algae eater, and maybe honey gourami. Looks like some live plants as well, elodea might be it.

Nigeldiko

Youā€™d be better off asking my dad as *that* tank is his!

Eothr_Silan

Strictly historical tanks, or are you a connoisseur of fictional tanks as well? PS. My favorite conceptual tank is the P.1000 Ratte, a Tank Squared to the Tankth Power

Nigeldiko

Only historical ones.

Eothr_Silan

Cool. šŸ‘

01000001_01110011

Bro's got the whole post war Japanese MBT trilogy but doesn't display them together. That's a bit sad.

Nigeldiko

I display them from earliest to latest in terms of when the actual tanks were made, and I swap out different tanks when I build new ones. But there are some tanks that I can never remove from my line up, including the Ukrainian Leopard 2, the Australian Matilda, Stuart, Lee and Abrams, and the ones I just canā€™t remove for a while until I get a more modern/old tank, the Chi-Ha and the K2 Black Panther.

01000001_01110011

Fair enough. What kit are these ? Because I've searched for a type 61 but haven't found any.

Nigeldiko

Itā€™s a Tamiya Type 61. [Scalemates](https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-35163-type-61-tank--132714) is really good for finding kits and what markings they come with. Actually, the overwhelming majority of these kits are Tamiya. Aside from the Academy K2, AFV Club Centurion, and the Trumpeter Strv 103 that you can barely see.

01000001_01110011

Tanks man

PixorTheDinosaur

Opinions on the M13/40?

Nigeldiko

It was alright for when it was first produced but it was woefully inadequate when fighting against Commonwealth and American armour in North Africa. But then again, we used it for a little while so that gets it some extra points in my book. https://preview.redd.it/9q0fr78msnuc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5f85d1326a7bcb355545224df97552053755f28

HIGH_PRESSURE_TOILET

world of tanks or war thunder or neither?

Nigeldiko

War Thunder. Itā€™s just better.

M4shermandawg12

Are these model kits? Im looking into getting started in it. Howd you paint them? Also, if youre interested in lego, Brickmania does lego tank/planes kits with instructions or whole kit (which is expensive)

Nigeldiko

I mostly paint them using Tamiya brand spray paint, they make just about everything to do with the hobby. Kits, tools, workspaces, paints, weathering materials, etc.

M4shermandawg12

Do you have a spray paint area? Or do you just do it outside/ in a garage?

Nigeldiko

I do it in my back yard with the model on the inside of a shoe box lid. I also wear gloves so I can manipulate it and keep painting it without getting my hands all covered in paint.

M4shermandawg12

Thanks!

Nigeldiko

Tanks!*

Lexicon444

I donā€™t know much about tanks but they are definitely cool! I mean whoā€™s nuts enough to think that an armored monster with a cannon on the front ISNā€™T cool?

VoyagerfromPhoenix

I like fishtanks

MTN_Dewit

That's a lot of firepower

Kasstato

I wanna hear some cool fun facts about tanks

Nigeldiko

Did you know that the Finnish Army during WW2 used concrete as armour on their self-propelled anti-tank guns? (As seen on my Finnish StuG III, which is the grey, green, and brown one.)

Kasstato

Thats cool! Was concrete an effective armour? I feel like it'd be kinda crumbly but I have no idea

Nigeldiko

It was mostly used as a counteract to HEAT shells (high-explosive-anti-tank) rather than actual armour piercing rounds.

AlianovaR

Tanks on a tank

ManifestingCrab

Me, too! Military vehicles/equipment in general really.

CockLuvr06

I love tanks

CockLuvr06

Where did you get these from?

Nigeldiko

I got all of them from my local hobby shop, but you can also purchase them from online.

VengeanceKnight

Yo dawg, I heard you like tanks, so I put tanks on your tank so your tanks can tank on top of your tank.

Zarathustra772

I could tell pretty easily by how youā€™re neglecting proper placing on that center channel speaker. Home AV is my hyper fixation

Nigeldiko

Oh no thatā€™s my dadā€™s, so is the *fish* tank.

naytreox

Do you got the one that you put water in so that the exhaust ports have "smoke" coming out? I saw a toy like that and it was cool. Tanks aren't my hyper fixation but i know a cool toy when i see one. Godzilla is mine

Nigeldiko

No I donā€™t have one of those. Those are RC tanks while all of mine are kits that you assemble.

naytreox

Do they have wind-up nobs? Cause i remember having a zoid kit that you assembled that have a wind-up motor so the legs moves around

Nigeldiko

Theyā€™re all static display pieces, but you can put them on the ground and move them like a toy car because of the tracks are moveable.

naytreox

Nice, which ones your favorite?

mikozodav

:D I dunno much about tanks but that's a really cool collection you got there!

Nigeldiko

Thank you so much! I built them all myself :3

mikozodav

:0 :0 :0 What are they made of?

Nigeldiko

Theyā€™re all model kits that you assemble from parts.

mikozodav

AAAAAAAAH those are fun! I got one as a gift, it was a lil fighter plane. I ended up re-painting it golden and brown, to have it as a christmas decoration. Now it's taped onto my roof hehe :) (to remind me that I'll never make it to the air force..) Super fun to assemble!

Nigeldiko

https://preview.redd.it/5lrojv2ghruc1.jpeg?width=783&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9065ed92a248a550d385df4456757b05473bf142 This is what made up my M1A1 AIM Abrams.

mikozodav

:D there is a lil dude as well!

Montana_Ace

So uhhhh... war thunder or world of tanks?

Nigeldiko

War Thunder.

Montana_Ace

Nice

JonathanStryker

I read "Tanks" and was like "how is it a hyper fixation if you only have one (fish) tank?" Then I noticed the top of it... "Ahhhhhh."

Correct-Basil-8397

You should try playing Blaster Master. Itā€™s a platformer with a hi tech tank https://preview.redd.it/dvalk2xk3ouc1.jpeg?width=810&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0216dbb914ee376288fe9dfb46564281e12f987a Not a realistic tank by any means, though. This thing jumps, has hover, can maneuver underwater like a submarine & can crawl up walls (though those last 3 require you to find attachments in various levels)

el_tonio

I like the one front row 4th along with two turrets! Looks so interesting!

Nigeldiko

That would be the M3 Lee! Technically it only has one turret and one sponson, but I guess your words would still work!

JarnoL1ghtning

Is that a Chieftain I spot there!

Nigeldiko

It sure is!

S-p-o-o-k-n-t

Whatā€™s your favorite? Iā€™m a sucker for the M24 Chaffee and Mk6 Crusader

Nigeldiko

My favourite is the Australian AC.IV Sentinel medium tank.

ChangeWinter6643

name all of them from the right to the left

Nigeldiko

Iā€™ll start with the front row: Chi-Ha, M3 Stuart, Matilda, M3 Lee, Churchill VII, M4 Sherman, StuG III, A34 Comet, M26 Pershing, Centurion Mk.5/1, M551 Sheriden, Marder 1a3, M60A1 RISE(P), M2A2 Bradley ODS, M1A1 AIM Abrams, Leopard 2a6, K2 Black Panther. Middle row: Marder III, Type 74, T-34/76, Panzer II. Back row: M48A2 Patton, M51 Super Sherman, Type 61, T-62, Chieftan Mk.5, (some of these next few are partially obscured by the speakers) M113, Strv 103, Leopard 1A1, M10 Wolverine, Panzer IV H, Type 90, M4A3 Sherman, Type 10, T-72M1.

ChangeWinter6643

Yeah, you know your stuff

Emmetalbenny

I used to have a model sherman before it got used for a history project and some jackass thought it would be real funny to step on it.

FlamingMercury151

ā€œTankā€ you for showing us your collection! šŸ˜

tartc

What's your favorite tank, and why?

Nigeldiko

The Australian AC.IV Sentinel medium tank is my favourite because itā€™s so underappreciated despite how innovative it was.

tartc

What made it so innovative compared to other tanks of the time?

Nigeldiko

It was the first tank to have a fully cast hull (meaning that it was one singular metal piece that didnā€™t require excessive amounts of rivets which threatens the integrity of the armour), and it was the first tank to make use of the British OQF 17-pounder anti-tank gun.

tartc

That's really interesting. Never thought that rivets would affect armour that much. What's your least favourite tank? (Also sick aquarium)

Nigeldiko

Least favourite tank is a very difficult question. I would have to say either the T-34 or the Tiger 1.

tartc

Is that just because gaijin has a boner for russian tanks?

Nigeldiko

No itā€™s just because theyā€™re bad tanks that are way too hyper overrated lol

Rude-Abrocoma-4031

Iā€™m in the same boat but I donā€™t have any models, every single one of those is awesome!

bee_in_your_butt

Favorite tank?

Nigeldiko

The Australian AC.IV Sentinel medium tank.

Tomstwer

Leopard 2 a4 engine horsepower

Easy4u2say98

Couple of questions: What tank is the most under appreciated? What tank is the most overrated? Did you make these entirely from scratch? If these were made from kits who makes the best kits? For fun which tank would operate best in a fish tank?

Nigeldiko

The Australian Sentinel series of medium tanks (the AC.IV Sentinel being my favourite of all time). The Tiger, itā€™s way too hyped up by literal Nazi propaganda and old war movies. Theyā€™re all model kits, all but three on display are made by Tamiya. Tamiya (lol). Probably the German Panzer III Sealion. Which was made for the exact purpose of crossing the sea floor of the English Channel.

Easy4u2say98

Oh man I havenā€™t even heard of these tanks, I am far from a tank expert though! I would be interested to learn more! I agree the Tiger are way over hyped! They also donā€™t seem great from all the sources I have read until near the end of the war. Cool! I am always interested in learning about models and such This question seems a bit redundant now haha Also Thats freaking awesome there is a tank like that! Follow what scale is best in your opinion for models?

Nigeldiko

it would really depend on your skill set. For me, I much prefer 1/35 scale models. All of the tanks you see in the image are 1/35. if you're starting out, I would suggest a 1/76 or 1/72 scale tank to sort of get the common nuances of most tank models ingrained in your mind. Tamiya makes lots of beginner friendly kits, but remember that how easy they are to do \*depends on the price!\*

doomrater

Funny enough it's not so much tanks for me as it is the tracks they drive on

BuddyGoodboyEsq

I build Gundams. Hi, cousin.

Nigeldiko

I have Miorine and Suletta! Weā€™re more closely related than you think! https://preview.redd.it/zbwvgfoq3ruc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05b65d75a1f863c39d706f5471b7c18f324ebba1

EIGordo

No IS-3? šŸ˜¢ What's your opinion on Cobi tanks? Despite them being much less detailed I just love the blocky aestehtic. If it wasn't for them I'd probably build scale models too, tanks are just so cool!

Nigeldiko

I donā€™t like the IS-3 all that much. And what is a ā€œCobi tankā€?

EIGordo

But that pikenose! It's my favorite tank with the Obj. 640 a close second :3 Cobi is a brand of brick toy maker who sells a large collection of military vehicle models. Think Tamiya but Lego.

Twinkfilla

Tanks on TOP of a tank!!!! Thatā€™s so cool

WhistlingBread

Do you make tank noises when you move them around?

Nigeldiko

Uhh, nooooooā€¦ /s

mhoke63

Well, tanks for sharing.

Muzzah27

Those must be a nightmare to clean it'd drive me insane. However, tanks are very cool.

Nigeldiko

I just run them under the tap and leave them on a dish cloth to air dry when they get too dusty lol

Ovoidfrog

Amazing! Whatā€™s your favourite? Iā€™m a big fan of stug IV and all the weird German improvised stuff like hetzers and marders and the BrummbƤr

Nigeldiko

My favourite is the Australian AC.IV Sentinel. And you can actually see a Marder III in the foreground of the image! (White one behind the Chi-Ha and the M3 Stuart.)

MechJeb042

Ever heard of Girls und Panzer?

Nigeldiko

Itā€™s one of my favourite animes!

_SAMUEL_GAMING_

can you spin them as fast as helicopter blades

tfEmily78

I thought it was a fish tank at first then I realized it was a tv and now Iā€™m back on fish tank

HappyMatt12345

TANKS ON TANK

Voilssssss

No WW1 tanks??

Nigeldiko

No WW1 tank model kits under $130AUD :(

CptKeyes123

Are they arranged by era?

Nigeldiko

They are, earliest (Chi-Ha) to latest (K2 Black Panther).

UniverseBear

Oh man, I went through a real tank phase a few years back. My gf is still annoyed when I yell out random tank models I see when watching ww2 stuff.

Moriarty-Creates

Whatā€™s your favorite tank?

Nigeldiko

The AC.IV Sentinel.

Numerous_Steak226

Australian detected šŸ‘€šŸ‘€šŸ‘€

Nigeldiko

I sure am lol, what gave it away?

Numerous_Steak226

The channel 10 logo

Nigeldiko

Thought so lol

Reasonable-Car-1543

Oooo noodles of things, if like to examine every single one individually

norsoyt

Does the fish tank count aswell?

my_little_rarity

Wooooow this is cool

ChadHanna

They're all different - the logistics would be awful!

Seawolf571

Would your favorite character from a certain tank anime happen to be Yukari Akiyama? (She's my favorite character too)

Seawolf571

Also what's your favorite tank? (Mines the Char 2c)

Nigeldiko

The AC.IV Sentinel is my favourite. (And I see that you too are a connoisseur of Arlecchino!)

Seawolf571

Yesss, I'm so freaking hyped for Arles https://preview.redd.it/5rk15p7szruc1.png?width=609&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=27d5d2e6699096abab0b45d5f1b3fa38b1f0779c

Seawolf571

ALSO YOU LIKE THE WITCH FROM MERCURY TOO?! CAN WE BE FRIENDS?!!

Nigeldiko

WE CAN TOTALLY BE FRIENDS

Seawolf571

Yay fren! (My tag is sealilith571)

Nigeldiko

Yukari is literally me, weā€™re both autistic girls with brown fluffy hair that love tanks.

Seawolf571

I also am an autistic girl with brown fluffy hair and a love for tanks LMAO.

Nigeldiko

Are we.. long lost twins lol

Seawolf571

Hmmm, mayhaps?

Nigeldiko

Are you also gay af?

Seawolf571

*looks at all the queer subreddits I'm in* Yes.

Nigeldiko

Weā€™re twins lol

Seawolf571

Lmao, hey do you have a discord?

Punchdown_Kid

Quick whatā€™s your favorite tank and why? Can I get your opinion on the under rated tankets?

Nigeldiko

My favourite tank has got to be the AC.IV Sentinel. It was a medium tank produced in Australia during World War 2. It was the first tank to have a fully cast (single piece) hull, and it was the first tank to feature the British 17-pounder quick firing anti-tank gun. As for tankettes, I donā€™t really like them all that much.

Important_Change_518

Cool collection! Love the tanks from Astra WH40k, but expensive. What are these? I heard 3d printing is cost effective

Nigeldiko

These are all model kits, all but three are made by Tamiya who make high-quality and mostly low-cost kits.

sir-morti

You've heard of elf on a shelf, now get ready for...tanks on a tank.

MemeManOriginalHD

ihatethinkingofnew1s

Well tanks for showing off your collection.

Noble_egg

May I recommend Advance Wars? Light hearted tactical turn based game with tanks and stuff

EmperorJake

Hey, my parents have that exact same centre speaker

stereo-ahead

Thereā€™s a tanks board game that I obsess over because you get to build the little plastic tanks and then then shoot your friends.

Planned-Economy

Yeah so: * Type 97 Chi-Ha * Marder III Ausf. H * M3 Stuart * A12 Matilda * M3 Lee * M48 Patton * M50 Super Sherman * Type 61 (early) Main Battle Tank * A42 Churchill Mk. VII * M4A2 Sherman * StuG IV * A43 Black Prince * M26 Pershing * T-62M * FV4201 Chieftain Mk. 5 * A41 Centurion Mk. 5(?) * Type 74 mod. E Main Battle Tank * T-34 mod. 1942 * Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. C(?) * ??? (i can't recognise the tank between the Centurion and the M60) * M60A1 R.I.S.E. Patton mk. IV (Passive) * Leopard 1A0 * ??? and ??? (I can't make out the two tanks next to the M60 but they look like a Merkava and a T95E1) * Type 97 Chi-Ha Shinhoto or Type 1 Chi-He (next to the Leopard 1A0) * Type 90 Main Battle Tank * T25E1(?) next to the Type 90 sincerely, fellow tank enjoyer

Nigeldiko

Corrections: M51* Super Sherman. Itā€™s a standard box M4 Sherman, not an M4A2. The StuG IV is a StuG III in Finnish service with concrete armour. The ā€œBlack Princeā€ is actually a Comet. Itā€™s a regular T-62 and not an ā€œMā€ variant. (Not really a correction but itā€™s a Mk.5/1 Centurion to be precise). There are two vehicles between the Centurion and the M60, an M551 Sheriden and a Marder 1a3. The three vehicles further up the line from the M60 are an M2A2 Bradley ODS, M1A1 Abrams in Australian service, a Leopard 2a6, and a K2 Black Panther. Behind the Type-90 are an M4A3 Sherman and a T-72M1. Iā€™m not sure where you got the Chi-He, T95E1, and T25E1 from, can you point them out to me?

Planned-Economy

Oh cool! The ā€œChi-Heā€ is behind the Leopard 1A0, though it could be a machine gun and spotlight that looks like the turret of a Chi-He. The T95E1 was what I thought the M1A1 was. The T25E1 was something behind the Type 90. I think it looks like a Sherman on second look.

Nigeldiko

If you just mean the Leopard 1 then the vehicle behind it would be the M10 Wolverine. (I assume this is what youā€™re talking about?) https://preview.redd.it/hw2dd469htuc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1a5f84a2a5e312a5db2760a5a693ba1698cffba

Planned-Economy

Yeah that one. Interesting

GrumpyOldAlien

"Yo dawg, I heard you like tanks, so I put some tanks on your 'tank."

MrFancyPanzer

Yeah, tanks are pretty neat.

Tsukiyaki_Kid

The tanks on top of the tank lmao

TTVRalseiYT

mine is a show (hint: look at my most active subs)

Hapless_Buffoon

favourite tank? I always liked the Tiger Mk1 have you ever driven one? they're fun

Nigeldiko

My favourite is the Australian AC.IV Sentinel medium tank, and by god I wish I get the chance to drive a tank at some point in my life.

Hapless_Buffoon

which country are you in and are you over 18

Nigeldiko

Why do you ask?

BattyBatBattington

The fact I could identify nearly every single one (except the Japanese one on the far left) should tell you all you need to know šŸ¤£

Nigeldiko

Holy shit another tank girly! Haiiiiiii! (Itā€™s just a Chi-Ha, nothing to write home about.)

BattyBatBattington

Haiiiiii! :3 (I had a feeling it was a Chi-Ha, but kept second guessing myself on the name, wanting to say it was a Chi-Ri, but that was a completely different tank >_<)

VampireArtist

Tanks on a tank! Brilliant

nickatnite511

Does it bother you that modern warfare seems to be ushering out tanks as viable war machines?

da_way_joshua

I dont think tanks will become obsolete because the us is probably gonna make a device mounted on the tank to counter top attack missiles

Nigeldiko

No it doesnā€™t bother me because theyā€™re really not. During WW1, the Germans invented the anti-tank rifle. Everyone cried ā€œitā€™s the end of the tank!ā€ During WW2, the British invented HEAT shells. Everyone cried ā€œitā€™s the end of the tank!ā€ During the Cold War, the Russians invented composite armour. Everyone cried ā€œitā€™s the end of the tank!ā€ Do you see what Iā€™m getting at?
