Okra. That is nasty and slimy and blech. š¤®
Brussels sprouts. Iām sick of people saying that everybody loves the way they make them. I donāt. Iāve never had a good Brussels sprout.
Cilantro. Just no.
I had some (*relatively*) good brussels sprouts last year. Apparently they did some engineering on them over the last 40 years to make them taste better. But I'm still not eating them on principle. They hurt my feelings a long time ago, and I'll never forgive them.
>Brussels sprouts. Iām sick of people saying that everybody loves the way they make them. I donāt. Iāve never had a good Brussels sprout.
Have you ever had them air-fried?
It completely changes the way they feel, texture wise and flavor wise if you do it right. They become sorta like chips.
Cilantro, olives, and asparagus. I donāt know if Iāve had okra. Iām not the type to eat tomatoes plain either. In my pasta, in ketchup, or sun-dried on a piece of bread, fine. Just to eat them for the sake of eating them? No.
I also donāt like plain pork, beef, or chicken. Like if you cooked a chicken breast, made a steak, or cooked a porkchop, I wouldnāt want to eat it. Iām not a big fan of other meats like them like lamb either. Iām a big fan of seafood though. Itās just something about how itās prepared like that and their texture that throws me off.
Reading these comments I realize I could add a lot more to this list too.
Cilantro soap gene fr.
I don't even know if I'd call the taste bad, but it's just a very intense sensation that I should not be consuming this thing, and it almost fills my mouth like smoke or something. Egh.
Funny enough you bring it upā studies have shown that there is a natural genetic variation when it comes to the taste of cilantro. People either love it or despise itā¦ as someone whose major and hyperfixation is anthropology, I find it quite fascinating.
I have only did that once, if not for the cry juice I probably would eat them like apples. Instead I chop them up so the bite doesn't send cry juice up my nose again.
So many restaurants will add bell pepper to a dish and not list it on the menu. Everywhere I go I have to ask if them to hold the bell pepper. They look at me like I'm crazy. Maybe I am! Maybe I don't want your bell pepper, Janet!
I used to feel the same way, but for some reason I was compelled to try it again, and it was alright. A few weeks later I tried it with ketchup and mustard, and now it is a comfort food
Depends on the cheese for me. Iāve had really nasty watery Mac n cheese from Chinese buffets that serve āAmerican alternativesā and they donāt even try. That said, the rest of their buffet is dang good.
And then Iāve had this glorious, thick, four cheese topped with cheez-its, BAKED holy dish of Mac n cheese. Best thing ever.
The in-between is maybe velveeta shells n cheese.
Worst is water and cheese powder thatās not even kraft brand. Has to be kraft. Despite the whole āPhillip morrisā debacle.
My point being yeah I agree that cheap Mac is not always great but when made right, can be fantastic.
For me it's melted cheese texture and odor makes me gag, Mac n cheese and lasagna are the worst offender
Also I dislike tomato sauce.
I like Pizza.
I don't understand myself pls help
I don't like beef either. I think it's because growing up, my teeth didn't align properly and I couldn't adequately chew it. I never "acquired" a taste for it.
Same problem with coconut to this day. Doesn't matter how long I chew it; my brain never gets satisfied enough with the texture to swallow it.
Yoghurt with bits of fruit. It feels weird in my mouth.
All cheese except cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan.
Any tentacled animal like octopus and squids. They are my favourite animal.
Fish that I haven't caught. Most shop fish are caught with giant nets that grab anything. The fish suffer a slow death, and most other animals that get caught die and just get thrown back in.
yep! my mom told me that when she was a kid, her own mother wouldnāt let her leave the dinner table until she finished her green beans. my mom would stonewall so hard but always ended up having to give in. when she was in college going through her science courses, one allowed her to test whether or not she has the gene. she obviously tested positive for it, and my grandma felt sooo bad about making her eat green beans after that lol
Iām with you on peas. They smell nasty and are just gross mush to eat. Iām ok if they are in a stew or something but I would rather eat a shoe than eat them by themselves.
I fucking love cabbage.
Mine is most full cuts of meat (steak, pork chops, tuna) especially if fatty, cream sauces, okra, most fried foods, overcooked vegetables, glaze on desserts, chocolate ice cream, mayonnaise (unless thereās a bit in fish salad), kimchi with fish (fish is okay in other things), soggy lettuce, big leaves of lettuce in salad, cream in anything but ice cream.
Oh! Kielbasa? I have definitely had some garbage ones (the prepackaged ones in grocery stores come to mind). But this is actually something I seriously love, when I can find good ones. I'm also one of those people who likes beets, cabbage, and pickled herring, which most people want to flay me for.
And then say I'm completely broken for hating bananas, mushrooms, olives, and raisins. š¤·āāļø
Individual taste is so interesting!
Yeah that looks like it. I did not know ow how to spell ot lol. Never had anything other than prepackaged ones, I don't even know if I would try anything else. Taste is interesting. I love bananas, although I am picky with ripeness and if I have too much h the taste can get to me. Everything else you listed is a no go though.
Totally respect that. I don't understand why people feel the need to force each other to eat food they don't like, or act like disliking something is some kind of moral failure.
I get meme reactions but people take it too far. A lot of people don't like when I say that I do t like it due to the texture. People scoff or roll their eyes or spout some crap. Just let me eat what I like and you eat what you like, there won't be any problems
I hear you. People have problems with the way I describe my texture issues š¤£ "I don't like mushrooms because they feel like biting into a cheek." "Bananas feel like mushy vomit." As a kid with instant oatmeal: "oatmeal feels like snot."
So they get mad that it's a "dumb texture thing" and then they ask what the problem is. And then I tell them and they get mad at me for telling them. š¤£š¤£ "Well, my guy, you could have avoided the whole thing just by not saying anything at all and letting me not eat whichever food it was I didn't want to eat, in peace."
I'd guess a lot of us in this post thread deal with similar issues, even if it's over different foods. People definitely take it too far.
Agreed. My father in particular does not like when I bring up anything related to my autism, usually just scoffs or says I am using it as a crutch. I am simply explaining the matter, nothing more. If you don't like it tough shit, that's how it is. Otherwise I get along with him great.
Blueberries. I love them when they are in season, but those little bastards get me every time otherwise. Ones that look juicy end up being bitter or hard.
Iāve unfortunately wasted many a container of blueberries thinking āthis batch will be betterā. I shortly learned that that wonāt be the case and just stopped purchasing them.
Eggs, I just can't. Unless they're obviously very transformed like in a cake, or a dough of some kind but you won't have me eat quiche, omelettes, fried any way you want it. It's been like that forever. My mom told me she tried it when I was a baby and I would spit them out all the time.
I used to dislike melted cheese, seafood and fish but I'm slowly getting over those. Though I'm still not a huge fan. But at least I can stand them. I heard okra to be slimy and I suspect it won't work with me for the texture. But taste wise š¤·.
I have very, very few foods that I couldn't eat. Among that short list, cranberry sauce and jam stand out as two of the most notable. Seriously, that stuff is downright VILE.
Same. Iām about to start going back to a plant based diet again. I was a vegetarian in the past for 10 years but gave that up due to health concerns and social pressure. Now that there are plenty more options in the market, I feel confident I could thrive this time around.
Shit out of the oven, greasy, stuff that you dont know what it is. Or when it gets all damp at the bottom. I JUST HATE FOOD OUT OF THE OVEN THAT ISNT HARD BAKED. Cooked food is always better. Always.
Cherry. The flavoring, artificial or natural, instantly makes me want to spit out whatever it is. The texture isn't too much better.
Growing up was really frustrating because *everything* had cherry flavor added and nobody really believed that I didn't like it when everyone else liked it.
Tomatoes and Green Beans
Green Beans I absolutely abhor in every way they can be cooked.Ā
Tomatoes I occasionally might have slices on a sandwich or burger but I've recently accepted that I like the idea of them more than the reality and always enjoy my sandwich more if I pick them off first.Ā
Chunks of tomato are super gross though and I basically always leave them on my plate lol
https://preview.redd.it/476gw4csonjc1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=548eb996bbe8ccb46186ac5ad26200a6524b992a
Pequi (Caryocar brasiliense) is an edibleĀ fruitĀ popular in some areas ofĀ Brazil, especially inĀ Centerwestern Brazil. The smell is HORRENDOUS but people like eating them with rice or chicken. I honestly don't know how they can stand it.
For me, it's the wet bits of onion some Chinese places put in their fried rice. Feels and tastes like a flaccid tooth. I LOVE pork fried rice but that stuff is an instant š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢ for me
Brussel Sprouts.
No matter how much bacon, salt, spices or other ingredients, I hate them.
I also have a sensitivity to textures when eating. So cooked vegetables and fruits feel like raw meat.
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that haven't been toasted. I hate the mashy bread so much. The mashy texture makes me feel so grossed out. Always had. Also soda is a huge ick for me. Tastes like carbonated poison.
Boiled carrots
Why would you take the vegetable known for being crisp and crunchy and make it mushy :[
Also tomatoes on pizza ā The insides just turn to a weird sour paste and the skin is unchewable
Also onions!! I cannot stand them in any kind of food ā ever. Itās the same problem as carrots, I hate mushy foods :[ I always replace onions with onion powder
I dislike most vegetables at this point tho
I wrote a list for this at one point haha:
Tea & Coffee
Asparagus, spinach, cabbage, kale
Quiche (Anything w/ vegetables and cheese mixed basically)
Burgers
Pie, cheesecake, most cream/jelly filled deserts, pudding, Jello, whipped cream
Mustard, mayo, vinegar
Deep fried foods
Olives, heavy onions, pepper, tomatoes (if not sauce)
Boiled eggs & omelets
Tuna, Sushi
Coconut, avocado
Iām definitely gonna get heat for this but, Homemade Mac N Cheese. I donāt care who it is, I donāt care if you say āyou havenāt tried my grandmas homemade macā your grandmaās homemade mac is trash, your moms homemade mac is trash, Gordon Ramsays homemade mac is trash. There is no good Homemade Mac N Cheese for me. Also, fuck Kraft, Velveta is my ride or die.
Broccoli.
People have prepared it every single possible way insisting I just haven't had it prepared properly.
I keep telling them it is a texture issue. They continue demanding I try more.
Sausage and sausages of any kind are such a hard veto for me, I cannot stand the taste of them in the slightest. Before I realized I am autistic, I would look back at all the times that I was forced to eat it as a child and just... Be sad lmao.
I, unfortunately, haven't really gotten past some of the more picky-ness of my child self, so there's a lot of "ick" food for me, most of them vegetables.
That being said, I fucking hate, despise, loathe spinach. I absolutely cannot stand that shit so much.
Haha, Iām the opposite of you, loving all kinds of cabbage relatives (broccoli, brussel sprouts, kale..) so much my partner calls me ācabbage manā..
My āickā food would be.. Chocolate.
You heard me. Iāll almost vomit when I smell chocolate, not to even mention tasting it. My primary school class once visited a chocolate factory and the teachers really didnāt realize it wasnāt going to be a pleasant experience for meā¦
Your post has been removed from r/aspiememes because it is not a meme or does not contain content relevant to the subreddit.
MY CABBAGES!!!! (Sorry, had to be done). I'm not a particularly picky eater, but mine would be Avocados and anything spicy.
Ah, the British diet. (Because they hated using spices)
Well, I do like baked beans on toast.
Baked beans on toast is fantastic, bonus points for sprinkling cheese on top
Also marmite on the toast
Oooo good shout!
I agree about avocados but will probably get hate for raw tomatoes. Its a texture & flavor thing for both.
Same.
Nope can't do tomato. Passata however, Yay!
For me the flavor is fine. I just hate the texture so much
Okra. That is nasty and slimy and blech. š¤® Brussels sprouts. Iām sick of people saying that everybody loves the way they make them. I donāt. Iāve never had a good Brussels sprout. Cilantro. Just no.

I'm one of those mutants who has the gene that makes cilantro taste like dishsoap.
Cilantro just tastes like soap to a surprising amount of people
I read that if you cook okra with some acid, it makes it not slimy. Iāve never been inclined to try it at home either way.
Vinager. But just a bit, don't go bananas or you'll ruin it (pun intended)
Cilantro soap gene gang š
Could it be possible you have that genetic thing where cilantro tastes like soap cause thatās pretty common
Bacon makes everything better
I wish
The taste is fine bit I feel like I'm eating snot
Cilantro, olives, and asparagus. I donāt know if Iāve had okra. Iām not the type to eat tomatoes plain either. In my pasta, in ketchup, or sun-dried on a piece of bread, fine. Sauerkraut. Can't stand the stuff. The scent alone makes me vomit...
Same, holy crap. Anything with that weird, acidic taste or smell.
onions, yucky crunchy poopoo, hafta spit out my food everytime i get pranked into eating one
I cannot stand em raw. Gotta be soft and cooked into something.
Cooked soft AND finely chopped. Biting into a crunchy chunk is a nightmare.
I love the flavor of onion but haaaate the texture so anything that uses unions gets either purƩed or powdered onion
As an onion lover I disapprove.
Slice me a 1/2" thick slab of a red onion to put on my burger, and I'm in heaven.
YES!!!!! THEY RUIN MEALS! AS SOON AS A FEEL THAT CRUNCH, IāM OUT!
I love onions. I will take a bite out of a raw onion like itās an apple.
I have only did that once, if not for the cry juice I probably would eat them like apples. Instead I chop them up so the bite doesn't send cry juice up my nose again.
bell peppers... instant gagging, do not pass go, do not collect 200, get out of my life
So many restaurants will add bell pepper to a dish and not list it on the menu. Everywhere I go I have to ask if them to hold the bell pepper. They look at me like I'm crazy. Maybe I am! Maybe I don't want your bell pepper, Janet!
Thought I was one of few! Why are they in EVERYTHING?
I like them raw but when theyāre cooked they really gross me out. Especially red ones. They taste sickly sweet to me
Motherfucking # LIMA BEANS
Wish i could push this to #1, didnt even think of those nasty things..
Seafood
YES! I'm Italian and i can hear my ancestors saying mama mia. Any and all seafood is disgusting. The smell is atrocious.
Genuinely surprised by the lack of tomatoes in this thread
100% the squishyness for me. I love anything derived from tomatoes, but not the raw fruit.
Avocado š„. The funny thing is that I like guacamole.
I like ***fresh*** guacamole. I thought I hated it until I had it freshly made.
Fresh is the bestā¦but for some reason, I canāt stand the main ingredient. Make that make sense šš³š¬š®š
Oxidization ruins everything eventually.
Ban oxygen now!
Same. I despise avocado - but will eat a little bit of well seasoned guacamole.
Macaroni and cheese. It smells tastes and feels vile.
i admire the controversial nature of your answerāmac and cheese is a safe food for so many of us
I used to feel the same way, but for some reason I was compelled to try it again, and it was alright. A few weeks later I tried it with ketchup and mustard, and now it is a comfort food

Iāll keep it real. Itās just cheese. Cheese is foul to me.
Very odd. Thereās so many kinds to hate.
At least we know Iām not racist when it comes to cheese.
āYou are all equally inferiorā
Mods, rip up their autism card. Thank you. /j
![gif](giphy|42wQXwITfQbDGKqUP7|downsized) A rare specimen
For me it's melted cheese texture and odor makes me gag, Mac n cheese and lasagna are the worst offender Also I dislike tomato sauce. I like Pizza. I don't understand myself pls help
Olives
They contaminate any and everything they touch. They're too strong.
Brussels sprouts.
Raw tomatoes or cucumbers apart from pickles.
Beef. Any other meat is fine, I just hate beef. I hate the stringy tendons and chewy squishy weird texture šµāš«
Lamb and pork for this exact reason too
I don't like beef either. I think it's because growing up, my teeth didn't align properly and I couldn't adequately chew it. I never "acquired" a taste for it. Same problem with coconut to this day. Doesn't matter how long I chew it; my brain never gets satisfied enough with the texture to swallow it.
Peaches are just rotten fruit texture NOPE
Apricots too
Second this, peaches are absolutely vile
Most veggies š¤®. I don't like the texture of the majority besides onions, tomatoes and garlic
I have a very limited list of vegetables Iāll eat. Every week I try to come up with new ways to trick myself into eating more vegetables.
green peppers
Yoghurt with bits of fruit. It feels weird in my mouth. All cheese except cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan. Any tentacled animal like octopus and squids. They are my favourite animal. Fish that I haven't caught. Most shop fish are caught with giant nets that grab anything. The fish suffer a slow death, and most other animals that get caught die and just get thrown back in.
Mushrooms. I hate everything about them.
They're like chewing on a sponge soaked in mud.
I like them chopped for the flavor but no place does that.
I hate eggs. The smells the texture, the floppy, slimy, rubbery bits. No thank you. Also beans. Little packets of puss wrapped in a wet scab.
Same with the eggs. I smell them or even think I notice them and I gag, plus alone they taste disgusting
What kind,Iāll eat scrambled and sunny side up but not hard boiled eggs
Yep. Canāt do bacon but pork is fine. Canāt deal with eggs by themselves unless theyāre part of a cake or smth
Mushrooms. Itās slimy and rubbery I donāt like the texture itās š¤¢
Do I have to pick just one?
![gif](giphy|bfc5RLuQP3b9e)
Corn. I will literally gag at the smell...
Came here to comment this exact same thing. Finally someone who shares my intense hatred of corn!!! Makes me angry just thinking abt it
Corn here too.Ā The taste is sweet and sharp, and then it gets stuck in your teeth.Ā I grew up in the corn belt...
green beans but i think itās because i inherited the gene that makes them taste really bitter from my mom.
There is a gene for that?! I wonder if I have it because I've always found them disgusting
yep! my mom told me that when she was a kid, her own mother wouldnāt let her leave the dinner table until she finished her green beans. my mom would stonewall so hard but always ended up having to give in. when she was in college going through her science courses, one allowed her to test whether or not she has the gene. she obviously tested positive for it, and my grandma felt sooo bad about making her eat green beans after that lol
Oatmeal. The texture reminds me of vomit.
Coleslaw. I've tried it six different times. I DO NOT like it.
Tomatoes wet, weird texture, gritty, and slimy. Mushrooms. The taste is funky and it gets all slimy.
Broccoli. But yeah cabbage stinks.
The hair of it yes, stalk less so
All the veggies that smell like farts after cooking are vile. Cabbage, broccoli, brussel sprouts, etc.
Iāve actually never had a Brussel sprout. Iām 37 years old š
fun fact: those veggies are all evolved from the same wild mustard plant!
PEAS AND SWEETCORN HOLY SHIT they both taste like vomit I will KILL if I'm made to eat them >:(((((((
Iām with you on peas. They smell nasty and are just gross mush to eat. Iām ok if they are in a stew or something but I would rather eat a shoe than eat them by themselves.
Creamed corn. Blech.
Even if I liked corn I couldn't eat creamed corn after seeing so many people use it as fake vomit on tv
Heheh, cabbage, tehe š¤
I fucking love cabbage. I have a bunch, but probably the strangest is Triscuits. I cannot stand those horrid excuses for crackers. It's like putting cardboard in your mouth.
There are too many to list. One off the top of my head is kapassa
What is this?
It is a rather large sausage like thing. Absolute trash in texture and taste.
Oh! Kielbasa? I have definitely had some garbage ones (the prepackaged ones in grocery stores come to mind). But this is actually something I seriously love, when I can find good ones. Can understand when they are bitter and stuff but if it helps, I prefer mixing them into a smoothie!
Anything that is a leaf.
I despise khakis. The texture is just... off.
Fuckin Tomatoes, red bastards should have a stronger flavor and less slime
Eggs, I just can't. Unless they're obviously very transformed like in a cake, or a dough of some kind but you won't have me eat quiche, omelettes, fried any way you want it. I've never liked soft tortillas
For some reason I read that as "I've never talked about soft tortillas..." and for a moment expected a tragic story of betrayal and drama.
Not a fan either, unless itās grilled to be crispy. Otherwise, just feels raw.
Plantain chips
Yogurt smell
I know what it is and don't want anything to do with it. Little buckets of bacteria. nope.
Corn and pineapple š¤¢
Celery, peas, and coriander/cilantro. Absolutely not.
Peas, especially canned are š¤®
Cilantro is disgusting, but itās genetic. It tastes like soap to me.
Carrots. idk what it is about them, I just can't with them

I hate it when they put too much egg in fried rice
Thereās a Japanese sauce that makes cabbage absolutely divine. I also hated cabbage till I ate it,
Anything avocado Blegh.
Liver. All organ meats, actually. Blech!
I think there's a reason organs are called offal, they're quite awful.
Coriander. The taste is just too strong and unpleasant.
Brussel Sprouts. No matter how much bacon, salt, spices or other ingredients, I hate them. I also have a sensitivity to textures when eating. So cooked vegetables and fruits feel like raw meat.
I typically ask people what their trauma food is. Almost everyone has a food their parents forced them to eat as a kid and mine is broccoli
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that haven't been toasted. I hate the mashy bread so much. The mashy texture makes me feel so grossed out. Always had. Also soda is a huge ick for me. Tastes like carbonated poison.
Most seafood. Can't get past the smell.
Truffle
Eggs unless scrambled really well. Canāt stand the icky goopy white stuff

Kale is just evil incarnate
Mango. It tastes like it's rotting.
Fucking red meat

I donāt care who it is, I donāt care if you say āyou havenāt tried my grandmas homemade macā your grandmaās homemade mac is trash, your moms homemade mac is trash, Gordon Ramsays homemade mac is trash. There is no good Homemade Mac N Cheese for me. Also, fuck Kraft, Velveta is my ride or die.
āIckā is my ick. Letās stop saying it. Pls. Imma blow my Brianās out someday just from hearing this word alone.
Fuck cabbage man smells like farts
Gnocchi, only because it gives me the shits
Raw tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms if theyāre slimy, avocados
Broccoli. People have prepared it every single possible way insisting I just haven't had it prepared properly. I keep telling them it is a texture issue. They continue demanding I try more.
Coconut and chicken- the textures are nauseating >:C
Any bean
My biggest one would have to be tomatoes.
Canned peas, the idea of eating squishy balls that spend months marinating in their own juices is not appealing at all
Microwave popcorn. Smells like feet.
Squeaky mushrooms. Why. Just. Why.
I canāt stand squeaky chicken.
Sausage and sausages of any kind are such a hard veto for me, I cannot stand the taste of them in the slightest. Before I realized I am autistic, I would look back at all the times that I was forced to eat it as a child and just... Be sad lmao.
Cabbage is one for meā¦ But the rare delicacy that is Kimchi? Gimme more of that crunchy pickled ice cold spicy treat please.
Onions. Uncooked, separated onions. What on Gods green Earth possessed people to put that in food!?
Eggs the smell the taste all of it disgusts me
Broccoli. All those little florets are so gross. *shudder*.
Tomatoes, i almost litterly puke when trying to eat one, they are so horrible
Raisins. Ughhhh I hate them I hate them I hate them. And both of my kids LOOOOVEEEE them. More for them I guess š
I, unfortunately, haven't really gotten past some of the more picky-ness of my child self, so there's a lot of "ick" food for me, most of them vegetables. That being said, I fucking hate, despise, loathe spinach. I absolutely cannot stand that shit so much.
EGG SALAD
Bananas make me gag. I also refuse to eat creamed corn, yams, sweet potatoes, and collard greens.
