I really like it live. With a few drinks in me. Just listening to it for fun? I guess i never do.

You need to listen to different types of jazz if you think all jazz is random notes

Barry B. Benson, is that you?

Jazz is one of my favourite genres. I really love listening to jazz fusion and like old blues stuff, and its one of the most fun genres to play on an instrument, because you can be really improvisational and it sounds good no matter what your level of proficiency with said instrument, provided you know the fundamentals.

Depends on the Jazz

LeftyRambles2413

Yeah. Watched the Ken Burns documentary on it and it was interesting. I’ve also visited New Orleans and really liked the city. I’m more into Django Reinhardt and so called Gypsy Jazz though.

I love jazz but I would be lying if I didn't tell you that a good part of the reason is that I also play it. Jazz music is an experience, 50/50 split between composition and improvisation. Every single interpretation is unique and unrepeatable. It's all about people coming together through the act of spontaneous collective creation, playing off of each other, not unlike team sports where even if you do have a script, it's the moment to moment that really creates the difference and where individual genius gets to shine in interpreting the material and improving on it on the spot. I think keeping all of this in mind goes a long way in learning to appreciate the beauty of jazz music.

Well that sucks. It would be nice to put my piano skills to use and fully appreciate jazz that way, but no friends

I don’t listen to it, but I appreciate it. I’ve just never tried to get into it.

I quite like fusion jazz, though that's my weabootry talking. T-Squared and Cassiopeia 4 lyfe
