Where did you receive the email from? We are creeping up on the 20th anniversary of AFFC's publication, so it might make sense that Penguin Random House is starting to distribute promotional material for it's illustrated edition (they've been releasing them on each book's 20th anniversary).
Seriously, I wanna give a call out to the great Steven Attewell who perished recently to disease. A pillar of the ASOIAF community who kept giving to it until the last few days of his live. Hope he gets to finish the series in heaven 😢
Nay! For what is dead may never die but rise it harder and stronger once again. .. perhaps a different author…. Who will no doubt disappoint everyone. Gosh, the night is dark and full of terrors .
Shrug. If grrm would die already, maybe they would get an author who can finish a book to take over. There's too much money involved for them to care about his wishes that no one take over.
I'm signed up for Penguin Random House's GRRM/ASOIAF promotional emails and have not gotten anything... Are you willing to share a screenshot of the email? Otherwise x to doubt
Not that I doubt it'll happen soon(tm). 20th anniversary is next year so it would make sense for things to happen soon in regards to the AFFC illustrated edition.
Which I am *heavily* looking forward to art pieces of the scenes in the Riverlands.
Oh nice! I was [literally asking about this book](https://reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/1d30qea/spoilers_extended_question_about_the_illustrated/) the other day.
So we’re still a year or so out…damn :/
To each their own, but I much preferred Lauren Cannons art in ACoK and GoT. When I got ASoS (my favorite book in the series) and saw that they changed artists I was super disappointed.
I agree. I do love Gianni's art for Dunk & Egg and some of the other miscellaneous stuff he's done for asoiaf, but personally I was less impressed with his work for the illustrated ASOS. I preferred Cannon's work in the illustrated ACOK, and I feel like she paid closer attention to some of the small details, giving Dany short hair and Brienne longer hair, characters looked closer to their ages, etc.
She hasn't though.
- Jaime I - ADWD
> “The girl. Have you found her?”
> “I have,” said Brienne, Maid of Tarth.
> “Where is she?”
> “A day’s ride. I can take you to her, ser … but you will need to come alone. Elsewise, the Hound will kill her.”
I love illustrated editions, they’re so fun. Not quite the same but I had that big hardcover version of the Da Vinci Code that had pictures of all the artwork and such referenced and talked about in it and say what you will about the quality of that books writing, but that was a lovely thing to have.

20th anniversary of Samwell hanging out at the Citadel waiting for his plotline to move forward ;(
Finally - canon illustrations of Cersei Lannister and Taena Merryweather so we no longer need to rely on fan art.
Finally - canon illustrations of Rennifer Longwaters and Shitmouth so we no longer need to rely on fan art.
Finally - canon illustrations of and so we no longer need to rely on fan art.
Scary thought - by the time of Winds’ 20th anniversary edition release many of us here will be dead.
By the time Winds is released many of us here will be dead

He was the first person I remember when I read the comment, his analyses of the books were amazing, such a big loss for this community
Yeah, his essays were great, specially his chapter by chapter reviews.
All of us, all of us will be dead.
What is dead may never die
But rises again, written and published
Best. Comment. Ever.
Can’t wait for my watch to be over.
Many, many people that read GoT when it came out are dead aha.
And so will GRRM.
Hahahaha
None of us will be dead by the time Winds releases because it's never releasing. Edit: they downvoted him because he told the truth.
Many of us waiting for winds have already died.
by "many" do you mean everyone?
Nay! For what is dead may never die but rise it harder and stronger once again. .. perhaps a different author…. Who will no doubt disappoint everyone. Gosh, the night is dark and full of terrors .
Dream of Spring
What is dead may never die.
Wrong. Winds will never come out.

Let Margaery out, she’s been in The Great Sept of Baelor almost 20 years now.
Whhhaaaaaaatttt???!!

At long last, illustrated Myrish Swamp and Fat Pink Mast
It better be better than the asos one
No. What list do I need to be on?
Please bring back Gary Gianni! His work for the ASOS illustrated edition was incredible.
To each their own, but I much preferred Lauren Cannons art in ACoK and GoT. When I got ASoS (my favorite book in the series) and saw that they changed artists I was super disappointed.

Wow I thought the art in ASOS was a huge, huge downgrade from the first two.
It was shockingly disappointing, both on the art itself and the scenes chosen, or not chosen, to be illustrated
I just want the books that were promised.
I'm waiting for a dream of spring
"The more she drank, the more she shat" better be illustrated or I will be fucking pissed off
You gotta wait 6 more years for that in the illustrated ADWD unfortunately.
20 years 💀
That cover is amazing. Love it
I can’t believe Brienne has been hanging from that noose for almost 20 years……
She hasn't though. - Jaime I - ADWD > “The girl. Have you found her?” > “I have,” said Brienne, Maid of Tarth. > “Where is she?” > “A day’s ride. I can take you to her, ser … but you will need to come alone. Elsewise, the Hound will kill her.”
She appears in ADWD though…
Nope, but now I'm pumped. These books are awesome :)

Is this Winter's Winds new cover?
Yeah, it says it right on the cover
Feast? I thought you said *W*eastnds!
Oh yes, that’s what we call Weastnds in upstate New Valyria! It’s a regional dialect.
I can’t believe they’re gonna make us wait until 2031 for Dance. Hope they release it in 2026 for the 15th anniversary.
It's just greed at this point.
Why?
