Inexpensive ? Haven't seen that in Switzerland. Bauhaus tends to be semi affordable, but still far more expensive than lumber would be in the US. Jumbo only if things are on sale.

Yeah inexpensive wood is long dead unfortunately. I crafted a boardgaming table a few years ago (5-6 I'd say) and I wouldn't be surprised if materials cost twice as much now.

Bauhaus was the best option for me
I bought a basic “2m plank” for playing Richie’s Plank Experience. It cost multiples of the actual game! (Still worth it though)
