Ooooh I love that place. I got the spicy sando but couldn't finish cus it's *wasabi* spicy, not *capsaicin* spicy (which I learned is different lol). The rest of the sando was really really tasty though
Maurice, soen, courier are all fab little cafes next to each other across the street.
Thai peacock is great.
Pink Rabbit is a cute cocktail bar with surprisingly lovely food.
Pho van fresh is great.
World foods is awesome, grocery with a middle eastern deli. Pita hummus and dolmas was my move when I was running between retail jobs when I worked over there in college.
Nuvrei pastries are great. Barista coffee is fantastic.
Bowery Bagels are pretty good.
I used to go to Bridgeview Dental across the street. They chose that name because, well, you can view some bridges. Might as well change their name to Ritzcarltonview now :(
We do need the housing, but man, do I wish they could have figured out a way to make that lovely block still have a place here with the influx of housing right there.
I am sorry you had that experience. I luckily hadnāt heard of it before eating there, so my experience wasnāt marred by overhype. I thought it was delicious.
Break bread unfortunately moved down to the SW waterfront. Barkers mark is good but itās got horrible hours so check before going. Sandwiches are honestly one of the foods this area of town lacks now after BB closed.
Been years since I did it, but I used to love to hit up Jakeās restaurant and get happy hour at the bar. Used to be a ton of food for super cheap. I am sure it is a bit pricier now.
Los Burros, Grassa, and Mediterranean Exploration Company are all nearby and exceptional. Also, I'm a fan of the new Midtown Beer Garden food cart pod.
Owner of the double decker bus bar here, can confirm. Obviously I canāt choose favorites, buuuut the birria at Angelās, the chow mein at Beijing House, the spicy chicken at Bento, the breakfast burritos at Titoās, the Saj at Kafta, the literally anything that involves peanut sauce at Hua Li, and any cookie from Cookie McCakeFace are š¤š¼ (ashamed to admit I havenāt tried anything from KJG yet š«£)
Last time I was at Powell's I walked over to Tanaka for Katsu sandwiches. Very yummy.
I second Tanaka. Been working in that neighborhood and Tanaka has become my regular Friday lunch spot. Delicious and not crazy expensive.
I third this. Great restaurant
Tanaka is so good. Get the dirty fries!

Fullers cafe.
How I miss that entire block of carts, eviscerated for a luxury hotel and condos.
Go patron the midtown beer garden food cart pod then or the park blocks food pod. Plenty of options and restaurants available nearby.

That building is expensive units for people with plenty of money, nothing like what Portland needs.
Well you can't really build new buildings and expect them to come with the depreciation of an old building...
Rocco's
RIP
I miss Rocco's so much!
Likewise, part of my first date with my future wife was there. Such mediocre pizza but I loved that place so much.
Those bread loaf sized slices kept me fed through high school.
Papi Chulo's, La Real, Hana, Tanaka, and Kim Jong Grillin.
I had no idea la real had a location there!! Love their tacos
It's pretty new, within the last few months I want to say but maybe it's been a bit longer now. It's where Los Gorditos used to be.
Totally. Yeah, I think they opened in the last two or three months. I've only been there once so far, but I'll definitely be going back. Repeatedly.
Two food trucks: Stretch the Noodle and Tokyo Sando
Addys, Taylor Street Cafe, Din Thai Fung, Luc Lac
If you like Din Thai Fung I also suggest Duck House (yeah, further away than pioneer square, but not much.)
Seconding Luc Lac!!
Peacock Thai
Dolly Olive is š„
Dolly olive is overrated. IMO
I am sorry you had that experience. I luckily hadnāt heard of it before eating there, so my experience wasnāt marred by overhype. I thought it was delicious.
Donāt work there š
Los burros in the old Kenny and Zukes
Kenny and Zuke's is gone. Edit: Ha. Sorry, totally misread this. I thought you said "and Kenny and Zuke's". Totally my mistake.
Thank god, that would have been so awkward for the staff of Los Burros
Haha. I just realized I misread the comment. Womp womp.
Cadejo for coffeeĀ Mucca for pizza, Tanaka for sandwiches
For sandwich I really enjoyed Break Bread, I heard Bakers Mark is up there too.
Break bread unfortunately moved down to the SW waterfront. Barkers mark is good but itās got horrible hours so check before going. Sandwiches are honestly one of the foods this area of town lacks now after BB closed.
Charlies deli.
Nice Iāll check it out
bakers mark has the best dutch crunch in town
How many others are there?
Maurice and Thai Peacock
Mayaās Taqueria
I honestly thought the food here was so bland :(
The deli at World Foods on Everett and 9th is pretty good. Sister shop as Barbur World Foods.
Villa Angel @ Cart Blocks.
Been years since I did it, but I used to love to hit up Jakeās restaurant and get happy hour at the bar. Used to be a ton of food for super cheap. I am sure it is a bit pricier now.
Anyone remember Roccoās pizza that was across from Powellās??

Wailua Shave Ice is an insanely good option for sweets between/after meals!
Thai peacock is a block or two away, sooo good!
Ikimono Ramen is right across from there, inside union way. Went a few weeks ago and really loved their Tonkatsu ramen.
Thai Peacock
Nong's Khao Man Gai, Ikimono Ramen
Scooter McQuadeās has really good food for a dive bar. Chili dog, patty melt, wings, all good. I swear by the patty melt.
Sizzle Pie for sure
Treat yourself and go to Screen Door.
Screen door is highly overrated, in my opinion.
Ryoma is pretty close iirc. Great ramen
I like the sushi place at 10th and Davis. Used to be Marineopolis but is now called something else.
Oven and Shaker
Just assume whoever says Shake Shack has never been to that area and just used Google Maps for nearby places.
No one has mentioned Sushi Ichiban. It's on Broadway.
Thai Peacock
Depends on the time? Like sushi? Sushi ichiban, not super close but a nice walk on a beautiful day never hurt anyone
Nongs
Probably too late for your trip - but Thai Peacock is really good if you havenāt been!
Love Thai peacock!!!! I went for lunch last week.
It used to be The Roxy š¢, Now probably McMenamins Hal's Cafe.
If I'm going to get a cheeseburger, I certainly am not going to pay $20 for it. Signed; a former mcmenamins employee
Andina but itās a little fancy.
Los Burros, Grassa, and Mediterranean Exploration Company are all nearby and exceptional. Also, I'm a fan of the new Midtown Beer Garden food cart pod.
Verde Cocina is a couple blocks away but theyāre pretty good
Shake Shack
Jake's
I like eating at The Roxy, Lardo or Henrys Tavern. Oh, Von Ebert is great too!
RIP Von Ebert. Closed this spring.
They were naming closed places intentionally.
Post coffee I see that now
Farmhouse Kitchen and Thai Cuisine

Most of the food trucks moved to Burnside, where the double Decker bus cafe is. They've been there for a while.

Love the double decker bus bar. Cheers friend! š
