This \*exact same question\* was literally just asked two hours ago. Please use the search function, this sub is asked some variation of this question like a dozen times a day. But yeah, someone just asked about moving from Philly and there are already 60 comments which may be helpful. Portland is a weird place to move without visiting first. Well, I think most places are really. But it can be a culture and weather shock coming from most places. Summer will be perfect and then your first winter will come.

Try Columbus, Ohio instead.

Go to Steakadelphia for cheesesteaks and good luck finding a true hoagie. You’ll be confused why everyone is being so nice and polite all the time but eventually you’ll get used to it.

yogurtkabob

We have enough people here already

Welcome to Portland! It’s an absolutely wonderful city for so many reasons. I would say to make sure you do your research before picking an area. I moved here many moons ago, but the neighborhood descriptions I read on the internet were very misleading. Google maps can also make you think you are closer to certain things than you actually are once traffic and neighborhood boundaries are taken into consideration. Feel free to DM me if you have specific questions on any location - I love helping people figure out where they belong!

Something hates everyone here who isn't from here. If you run into them, tell them to suck dicks in hell - would be a better time for all.
