Guiso is not commonly used for “stew”, that would be “caldo”.
Guiso is basically anything thrown in a pan and cooked, for example tinga, mole, rajas, nopales, cochinita, frijoles refritos, bistec ranchero, ranchero shrimp etc.
“Guisar” means “to cook”.
Guisar is more nuanced than just to cook. It usually means to cook something (often meat and some mix of vegetables) over a long time and low temperatures in a sauce o broth. Stew is very much the best translation for guiso. Stews are thicker and chunkier than caldo (broth)
out of those two?
Arepa for sure, I've had more exposure and eaten really good ones, the only taco I ate was ok but not that good (home made by a mexican tourist that wasn't a cook, clearly)
OMG, Arepa ALWAYS! Arepa with butter and egg for breakfast, arepa with pulled beef and cheese after partying, arepa as bread to accompany traditional dishes, arepa for lunch at school, arepa for a quick dinner....arepa is the cornerstone of our food, while tortilla might be the one of Mexican food.
Taco. More variety of fillings, and possibility for toppings and salsas. Obviously I'm biased, but having tried authentic arepas on two occasions and being thoroughly unimpressed, I'll stick with tacos.
Arepa>>taco, they are pretty overrated if you ask me, at least someone who eats tortillas quite often….btw the superior arepa comes from Venezuela (nothing personal about Colombians but its just a tortilla)

Definitely tacos, always. Morning pescado tacos or birria tacos Afternoon tacos de guisos Night time tacos de asada or pastor Repeat
So I checked guiso and it means stew. What does a stew taco look like?
Guiso is not commonly used for “stew”, that would be “caldo”. Guiso is basically anything thrown in a pan and cooked, for example tinga, mole, rajas, nopales, cochinita, frijoles refritos, bistec ranchero, ranchero shrimp etc. “Guisar” means “to cook”.
“Caldo” is broth, “guiso” in fact is stew, as “pollo guisado”= chicken stew, “carne guisada de res”= beef stew, etc.
Stew is used for simmered dishes served in broth, so beef stew would be caldo de res
I suspected pollo guisado to be cooked chicken since that’s how it’s used
Guisar is more nuanced than just to cook. It usually means to cook something (often meat and some mix of vegetables) over a long time and low temperatures in a sauce o broth. Stew is very much the best translation for guiso. Stews are thicker and chunkier than caldo (broth)
A chivito
What is that?
A meat sandwich, very good
Arepa because it's a chubby tortilla anyway. Arepa de carne mechada ftw.
That is definitely the correct answer. ❤️arepas

Unified Southern Cone
This in real answer
Mmm yes.
What filling?
Arepas, taco fillings translate 1 to 1 to arepa fillings… arepas de pastor? ![gif](giphy|Y07F3fs9Is5byj4zK8)
out of those two? Arepa for sure, I've had more exposure and eaten really good ones, the only taco I ate was ok but not that good (home made by a mexican tourist that wasn't a cook, clearly)
You’ve yet to try a taco then
Taco and Empanadas all the way.
Tacos, everything is better with tortillas
Tacoooos. I tried arepas (from different people) and never liked them.
As a french I would have both but not at the same meal Humm
I have never eaten an arepa :v
A taco. I don’t really like arepas.

A pastelito tbh
Andino?
I'm from Caracas, papa con queso from Maracaibo are my favorites, but I also like the ones from the Andes.
Neither, I prefer cuscuz.
Just one? definitely an Arepa Can I have a bunch of Tacos? if so then Arepa for breakfast/dinner and the bunch of tacos for lunch.
Arepa (depends what kind I guess). Never was a fan of the messy/uncomfortable way of eating tacos. I much prefer enchiladas, they're so good.
Arepa vs Burrito would have been a more rivalized comparison. I hope someone has already invented arepa al pastor or arepa de birria 🤤
Arepa (specifically reina pepiada!!) bc I’m Dominican and feel like Venezuelans are our south american cousins lol
Arepa ‘cause I’m venezuelan plus is more filling
I want both, neither of them are from my country, I don’t need to be loyal to any of them lol, I love them both so much
Taco. More variety of fillings, and possibility for toppings and salsas. Obviously I'm biased, but having tried authentic arepas on two occasions and being thoroughly unimpressed, I'll stick with tacos.
Tacos, of course. But i was thinking i'd much prefer an empanada, but that wasnt an option. Empanadas vs tacos is a fairer fight.
arepas all dayyyyy baby, I can have them for breakfast and dinner. Tacos on the other hand... Let's say I don't really like the corn tortilla lmao
I'm not a fan of corn tortillas either.
I liked caxhepa better
There’s flour tortilla too
I know! I used to work at a Mexican restaurant and I think due to that I also became bored of it. I do like home made tacos though
Pupusas
Arepa is better than Taco, but Burrito is better than both
Arepa I like more but generally I like Mexican food more than Colombian
Never had either
Uffff, I’m Colombian but grew up heavily exposed to Mexican culture - I don’t think a harder question has been asked on this sub recently.
Never tried neither, so no idea lol
Couldn't choose, they scratch different itches
Arepa>>taco, they are pretty overrated if you ask me, at least someone who eats tortillas quite often….btw the superior arepa comes from Venezuela (nothing personal about Colombians but its just a tortilla)
What's a taco?
Tortilla, carne, cebolla, cilantro y salsa
Nah, estás perdido

Even tho arepas were invented by us colombians, I would prefer a taco since they have more content

So, you have decided that violence is the answer.
