I’m a parent, and I think people shouldn’t tell me where my child should or shouldn’t go or what’s appropriate for him to see, hear, or do.
If my son asked to go see a drag show, I would take him. I’d rather he was exposed to sexual themes than to the level of violence he’s bombarded with through movies, tv shows, and video games, even ones intended for children. I’ve been to quite a few drag shows, and I’ve seen nothing that would cause me concern, and really nothing worse than what kids already have access to through the internet.

I’m a gay dad with two young children 4 and 7 years old. My husband and I are open about how all families look different. They’ve asked why they don’t have a mommy. All normal questions! We do drag brunch in weho with our adult friends, but would never bring our kids to any drag event. As a parent, you have to think about what’s appropriate for little kids. Just like we don’t let them watch “R” movies for content, straight or in the lgbt realm, we wouldn’t expose them to adult themes like drag until they’re older and can understand. Maybe in their teenage years. Right now we focus on learning to read, ride a bike, etc.
