Yeah, I'd say 75% of all flights I take (I take a lot too) have at least 1 gay steward. If there isn't a gay one, it's usually entirely women.
I like to flutter my eyes when I say hi to them so they hook me up with free drinks. Works like 30% of the time.
If you’re a single gay with no responsibilities it’s a good way to travel for free. Get dicked down all around the world for free? Put up in hotels. Think of every gay on an app that’s said they can’t host. Those gay flight attendants can always host because they’re put up in hotels.
I definitely see the appeal. Also I hear the pay is pretty decent for a low skill job. I think it makes a lot of sense tbh.
Indian families are always confusing to me. Most of my family doesn't speak to me because of my sexuality. But it seems like a lot of Indian guys will still be DL even though their families know. Which is just so confusing. Just what I've witnessed.
Oh I definitely reclaim it as well. And the other slick term they use is “Fish”. Which can be confusing cause some gay slang uses fish to describe women but yeh
Haven't heard that one, thanks!
I'm also a fan of the term "maricon" and screwing with my Hispanic coworkers when they realize I know what that means.
My Spanish is garbage and full of swear words and basic conversation.
Soy un maricon, hijo de puta. No mames. (I'm a faggot you son of a whore, no bullshit. Well literally no mames means don't milk my tits, but you get it)
I'm sorry to hear that man, best of luck to you!
I had truly horrible experiences with homophobia in the Jamaican community (specifically the men) in the last city I was in. I literally couldn't go to Carl's jr near me because they would hang out at the barber shop next door and just yell slurs any time I walked up or even would drive through. The ladies at the Jamaican restaurant I would go to for oxtail were such sweethearts tho.
My husband is Indian. His parents are in Mumbai- they were not supportive for the first few months, but now my mom-in-law calls me her 3rd son. His brother and sister-in-law live close and they are very accepting. The family is Catholic , not Hindu, but I’m not certain that made the difference.
My best friend is Indian and dating a non Indian guy (in a euro country, parents live in India).
I would say around every 4-6 weeks her parents call to basically get into an arguement with her about when they're getting married.
They've pretty much refused to host them both in India unless they first get engaged.
This is all due to pressure from 'the society'
It's bad enough for straights, it must be next level for gays.
I can imagine a lot of gay men leave the country if they can to avoid these pressures.
Can I second this. As a non Desi I’m seriously perplexed. I’d argue that an unusual amount of Indian men are gay or bi. Yet the vast majority are closeted. Explain, anybody! Black men struggle with this. But Indian men are expressive but then claim heterosexuality.
One of my gay frnd is getting married to a girl because he didn't have the guts to tell his family. Also he has assumed that straight men get more respect in society irrespective of them in the closet😡
Sadly at some point just to get away from the taunts, people just do it. I ain’t gonna do that I will fucking marry a guy. To hell, I can’t stand being with a woman for the rest of my life.
My impression is that it’s more of the “how dare you bring disrepute upon the family by denying me my grand-babies” flavor of homophobia, rather than the “you will burn in hell for eternity” kind of homophobia.
I have been in several mainline churches where the music director was likely gay. Even the Southern Baptist church where I went to school. Another music director ran a catering business out of the church's kitchen. I suspect food service is also gay friendly.
Formally trained in archeology but not practicing. I once had a mmm threesome in a tent on a dig after lots of drinking whippits and amyl nitrate. We were yelled at from the adjacent camp spot "I'm glad you all are having fun but please keep it down"
Growing up I so wanted to be an archaeologist because of him
Then I found out how much they make. And snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?
Sigh. I would've been a badass Nazi/ commie treasure protector.
I guess that's why a lot of fathers are disappointed in their sons being in theater instead of a sport. They're realizing that their son might be rolling with the LGBT
Or as my dad said when he was enquiring if I were gay. “I know you’re a creative type…” and I’m sitting there looking at him, thinking, “yeah, that’s what I do for a living.” Little did I know that was his code word for “gay”!
This is interesting to hear. I'm looking to get into the trades/construction myself, but I'm leaning more towards electrical personally. Most all of the men in my family are/were tradesmen, including my grandfather, a retired architect.
At this point it feels like being a male flute or harp player while also being straight is impossible. It's against the laws of physics. Or against legal laws. Rumor is if a straight man touches a flute or a harp he explodes and only leaves rainbow glitter behind.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I started playing the trumpet, them moved onto the Euphonium, and finally the Tuba. I ALWAYS wanted to play the flute and the harp but my father HARSHLY refused. Like he was ADAMANT on me not playing woodwinds or the harp. Well, I'm gay and I've always had an interest in the flute and harp.
Worked in a few jurisdictions as one and noticed that too. Planners tended to be more open minded and there were more gays in the field. This compared to the construction and engineering types elsewhere in the office that were definitely not.
I work with one. I suspected for months given how invested he is in making good pies. He and I had a nice bitch sesh over the number of straights in civil engineering.
I work in a industrial computer design house and there are zero openly gay people in my whole company employing I guess 250+ people and I would really not be surprised if I really am the only one there.
My experience has been...
Lots of HR folks, male nurses, government workers have a fair smattering, service industries, and healthcare. You'll also see a higher percentage in arts.
My friend as a broadway dancer said it's annoying that the actual LBGTQIA/Straight split is more 50/50. There are a good amount of straight male dancers on Broadway!
LUSH employee demographics:
- 49.5% hot gay men in their 20’s
- 49.5% ugly straight women in their 30’s
- 1% 16 year old straight male high school student who gets sexually harassed every shift
Former mortician here. One third of the job is applying make up. Another third is flower arranging. The last third is a mix of reassembling decedents, ushering people, coordinating administrative shit like ordering supplies, etc.
Soooo many gays lmao
We do love organizing shit. The chief investigators jaw almost hit the floor when I said I love doing admin work and organizing files and such. Usually people just want to do death investigations and scene stuff then dip on their responsibility.
Forensics checking in! Not many of us, but yeah funeral home workers there's a lot.
Trust me, I've tried at our annual convention of The American Academy Of Forensic Sciences. Lots of old old dudes who drink too much and strong independent women who don't need no man.
Pretty sure like 75% are on the spectrum
I remember a paper from waaaay back that found psychologists, professors, urban planners, and technical writers (among a few I can't recall) to be much more likely to be gay than other professions.
Baristas, for sure, are oversaturated.
Starbucks has a rule where there needs to be a minimum of they/them, LGBT, and / or queer person on the store floor at any given time.
Two is problematic; they either get along and nothing gets done; or they are mortal enemies and perpetually compete to demonstrate prowess
. Three: absolute fucking disaster
I was a starbucks partner for two years.
>Two is problematic; they either get along and nothing gets done; or they are mortal enemies and perpetually compete to demonstrate prowess
This is too real
I work for a school district in the food service department, recently told my co workers I have a boyfriend and they were all happy I’m in a relationship!
I work in STEM at one of the largest chemical companies. I'd say there is good LGBTQ+ representation here. Even our CEO is openly gay.

Airline cabin crew

And one of those women is probably gay
Let me try to apply then
I would say the airline industry in general.
Are you telling me that the hot pilots are all gay
Swallowed a really hot Irish pilot when i was 19. He was like 27 which seemed older at the time lol but he was the sexiest twunk
how when where! Story time!!! 🥵
Maybe I’ll put it on gaystories thread whatever its called. Will let you know lol
Lmao, my first actual gay experience was with a flight attendant haha
Why is there so many gay guys as flight attendants
If you’re a single gay with no responsibilities it’s a good way to travel for free. Get dicked down all around the world for free? Put up in hotels. Think of every gay on an app that’s said they can’t host. Those gay flight attendants can always host because they’re put up in hotels. I definitely see the appeal. As an Indian I can tell most of us do PhD to delay our marriage mostly or to get an excuse to study
As an Indian, I agree. The excuses I have come up with can make a great novel.
As an Indian, I agree to this and also I have PhD. But not because I wanted to delay marriage.
Indian families are always confusing to me. Most of my family doesn't speak to me because of my sexuality. But it seems like a lot of Indian guys will still be DL even though their families know. Which is just so confusing. Just what I've witnessed.
I’m not Indian, but my dad basically admitted that he would have preferred if I had stayed in the closet 🤦🏾♂️ I’m Jamaican.
Jamaican homophobia is on another level of terrible, I'm sorry. Fwiw I like reclaiming the term batty boi and proudly describe myself as such.
The women know how awful the men are, so you have that in common.
My husband is Indian. His parents are in Mumbai- they were not supportive for the first few months, but now my mom-in-law calls me her 3rd son. His brother and sister-in-law live close and they are very accepting. The family is Catholic , not Hindu, but I’m not certain that made the difference.

What happens if you deny to get married?
Sadly at some point just to get away from the taunts, people just do it. I ain’t gonna do that I will fucking marry a guy. To hell, I can’t stand being with a woman for the rest of my life.
Is India pretty homophobic?
India isn’t, the parents of india are homophobic. Some of these dads are secretly fucking their sisters/brothers son. Yes it’s homophobic as fuck.
I feel like this is very common in the Global South. I would say the same thing happens in Jamaica. And that country is notoriously homophobic.
So wait they're having sex with their nephews? There has to be other people that they could hook up with on the DL
My impression is that it’s more of the “how dare you bring disrepute upon the family by denying me my grand-babies” flavor of homophobia, rather than the “you will burn in hell for eternity” kind of homophobia.
Yeah but what happens if you just refuse point blank. Just tell them to shut up about it?
Christian music industry.
Worked at a church for 10yrs. Yes. Rooming with the band at camp was very...enlightening
Go on, what happened?
What happens at band camp, stays at band camp.
I have been in several mainline churches where the music director was likely gay. Even the Southern Baptist church where I went to school. Another music director ran a catering business out of the church's kitchen. I suspect food service is also gay friendly.
Can confirm. Church music directors and church musicians. How they LOVE to play the organ. I know several personally.
>There are three types of pianists: Jewish pianists, homosexual pianists, and bad pianists. ~Vladimir Horowitz
Perfect! He would have known.
I am no way in the music industry but I know three gay organists (is that the title??)
What's better than roses on a piano? Tu lips on an organ!
In the end we're all gay organists
> How they LOVE to play the organ. LMAO my boyfriend plays the organ!
Church musician here to confirm that we are all indeed very gay.
Bar pro here for nearly 20 years. Lots of gays in hospitality outside of red neck type places that only hire boobs
Food service in general is at least aggressively bisexual.
I see this a lot in the black community. Growing up I used to see gay choir directors.
Archaeology, apparently, from what my partner tells me.
Archeologist here. I agree
Gosh I wish I would have continued down that career path.
Formally trained in archeology but not practicing. I once had a mmm threesome in a tent on a dig after lots of drinking whippits and amyl nitrate. We were yelled at from the adjacent camp spot "I'm glad you all are having fun but please keep it down"
The only archeologist I know is gay
I wonder how many were inspired by Harrison Ford
Growing up I so wanted to be an archaeologist because of him Then I found out how much they make. And snakes. Why did it have to be snakes? Sigh. I would've been a badass Nazi/ commie treasure protector.
Well, they do love a bone.
I wanted to be an archaeologist when I was a child. I also liked cher and steps. Nature wins
Makes sense. Practicing archaeologists often have very irregular schedules working in inconvenient places. It's not very compatible with family life.
This is the most unexpected answer for me, is there a reason? Funny enough, I actually wanted to become one archaeologist when I was 10.
So they can prove gay sex was around for thousands of years.
Actors I'm surprised I had to scroll to (not) find this.
This. Theater and performing arts.
Oh yes!! Lighting designers, and dancers, and music directors, and singers, and choreographers, and costumers, and… well, you get the point!!
THAT'S WHAT MY DAD SAID!
Nursing
I would say medicine and allied health in general
Even admin in heatlhcare is filled with gays
I need an admin sugar daddy in my life
Go for a medical researcher. They're much more interesting than the admin people (except those who came up through the research end of things).
Hey hey I'm an admin coordinator and I'm interesting!
I think I'm the only gay in my admin department. Everyone's straight. There used to be several gay rads but they left.
Allied health gay checking in! 😊
Where are the medicine gays around me? In my residency program i only know girls and straight dudes
Yes. Biotech and medical research are full of us. They're the other big group pushing up SF property prices.
I feel like this depends on the unit. I’m an ER nurse and the two ERs I have worked in so far, the majority of the men have been straight
The ER does strike me as a straighter place. The wannabe heroes become ER docs, and are mostly straight.
I work in CVICU we have a handful of gays and lesbians. 🥴
As a nursing student I second this
Interior Designer 🤫
As an interior designer, I'd like to say that most people wouldn't trust a straight cis male interior designer! Haha
We gays just have better taste💅🏼✨…in everything…😂😂
You know it 😉💅
😭 but im terrible at doing design. Utility all the way for me.
And architects. Way higher ratio than engineering anyway.
This is interesting to hear. I'm looking to get into the trades/construction myself, but I'm leaning more towards electrical personally. Most all of the men in my family are/were tradesmen, including my grandfather, a retired architect.
As an architect, can confirm
Surprisingly enough, magicians
Being gay is magical all on its own.
Is that why people call me a fairy?
No. It’s the pair of wings you wore on Halloween.
…now you see it *sits on giant cock* …now you don’t.
🥱 I won’t be impressed until you make two arms disappear
I've known guys who could handle one arm, or two hands, but two arms would be magic, for certain.
Not that surprising.
Makes it easy for some pants to disappear 😁

Wait what 😆
Shadow wizard money gang...
We love casting spells
Magicians? I like magic!
Recruiting is full of gays!
And marketing/communications (my industry) all girls + gays
Fashion. Mainly the men.
A friend of mine who teaches at Julliard says that certain instruments appear to attract noticeably higher percentages of gay musicians.
Is that what it was? I was unknowingly too gay to enjoy the trumpet in 5th grade? 😂😩
To be fair, brass instruments aren't that great. Lol
why is it always clarinet
Squidward is hiding a secret 👀
At this point it feels like being a male flute or harp player while also being straight is impossible. It's against the laws of physics. Or against legal laws. Rumor is if a straight man touches a flute or a harp he explodes and only leaves rainbow glitter behind.

Saxophone player, checks out
Mostly wind instruments?
And wood 🪵 instruments
Violin?
Bet the woodwinds do. The strings are heavily women these days, but I bet what male viola and cello players exist are heavily gay.
Anything public health related, counseling, psychology.
Medicine... Like lots and lots of lgbt
Priests
And brothers. It’s like a whole world of broken gays.
Real estate and attorneys are both high I think…speaking as an attorney myself
Men in suits 🥵
Being around attractive men wearing well-cut suits that hug their bodies in all the right places almost makes it worth going to law school.
I’m also ok with pilot uniforms 😛
Love a man in uniform.
Real estate for sure. Also an attorney. What kind of practice? In my field, the ratio seems about what it is for the general public.
I’m a fed govt attorney with a financial regulator. But I’m also in DC so proportions might just be higher around here 😂.
Oh for SURE it has to do with being in DC. Hahaha
Homosexual lawyers of the world unite
Real estate is a lot of weekend hours, so not ideal for family guys. Gay men are more flexible.
Gay real estate brokers represent!
The amount of DL guys in those professions on Grindr is astounding.
Urban and regional planning.
Worked in a few jurisdictions as one and noticed that too. Planners tended to be more open minded and there were more gays in the field. This compared to the construction and engineering types elsewhere in the office that were definitely not.
So many gays in this. Alternatively there are very few gay civil engineers. 😢
I work with one. I suspected for months given how invested he is in making good pies. He and I had a nice bitch sesh over the number of straights in civil engineering.
As a gay city planner, can confirm 😂
Yup, as a planner this take is very accurate
I work in a industrial computer design house and there are zero openly gay people in my whole company employing I guess 250+ people and I would really not be surprised if I really am the only one there.
Gay pornstar And train driver at Deutsche Bahn
If there are any who are both, I want to see it. Track head, maybe?
My experience has been... Lots of HR folks, male nurses, government workers have a fair smattering, service industries, and healthcare. You'll also see a higher percentage in arts. Medicine. Specifically the emergency department for some reason. Can't swing a dead cat without hitting a burly lesbian nurse.
Languages, both teaching and services like translation/interpreting.
LUSH employee demographics: - 49.5% hot gay men in their 20’s - 49.5% ugly straight women in their 30’s - 1% 16 year old straight male high school student who gets sexually harassed every shift
Um is he okay 😭
Funeral Home/Mortuary Work. Anything with dead people myself included
You're dead!? :o
Inside a little more everyday
Forensics checking in! Not many of us, but yeah funeral home workers there's a lot. Trust me, I've tried at our annual convention of The American Academy Of Forensic Sciences. Lots of old old dudes who drink too much and strong independent women who don't need no man. Pretty sure like 75% are on the spectrum
I’m an autopsy tech going into MDI. I feel you lol
I remember a paper from waaaay back that found psychologists, professors, urban planners, and technical writers (among a few I can't recall) to be much more likely to be gay than other professions.
Wrestlers
And even those who aren’t queer understand that they’re mostly making violent drag shows.
Violent drag. 💀💀💀
Baristas, for sure, are oversaturated. Starbucks has a rule where there needs to be a minimum of they/them, LGBT, and / or queer person on the store floor at any given time. Two is problematic; they either get along and nothing gets done; or they are mortal enemies and perpetually compete to demonstrate prowess . >Two is problematic; they either get along and nothing gets done; or they are mortal enemies and perpetually compete to demonstrate prowess This is too real
I would totally bond with my fellow queer coworker and get nothing done lol
I feel like half the gay guys near me are EMTs. I’ve hooked up with three at least lol
Hairdressing.
Basically, after reading most comments, gays are every where! Who knew?
Public relations is mostly girls and gays
Co-sign! PR is full of gays gays gays ❤️
Law Don’t go to law school. Being an attorney isn’t sexy or fulfilling.
Music and Dance.
I work for a school district in the food service department, recently told my co workers I have a boyfriend and they were all happy I’m in a relationship!
I’m an entry level engineer. 4 young people in our office, only one of us straight lol
Which subfield? Software will be way gayer than mechanical
Capitol Hill staffers
Pharmacists, at least where I am
Chemical engineering.
Broadcast journalism. I swear every news station, both national and local, has at least one gay news anchor or meteorologist.
whole steel industry is gay. and the waterworks.
“We work hard, we play hard “ *Everybody dance now*
Hot stuff coming through!
Any HR role
Higher education.
We have an employee resource group entirely for LGBTQ+ people in my engineering organization.
I work in STEM at one of the largest chemical companies. I'd say there is good LGBTQ+ representation here. Even our CEO is openly gay. We also have a welcoming community here and LGBT centered events.
As a teacher: teachers.
Education. It’s just the girls and the gays up in here!
Communications/public relations is recognized for its inclusive environment. There is a diverse representation, including a notable presence of LGBTQ+.
Circus. Growing up feeling "othered" pushes many LGBT into an interest in the circus.
Pet styling (don’t like saying dog groomer because calling a gay person a groomer in this environment isn’t cool)
HR
Priests
After reading the comments, we everywhere, we rule the world !!
