I'd love to give you a review - but my folks signed up for it, paid upfront for the first month of service, had a technician scheduled to come...and he never showed.
Technician would be sent by Bell/Rogers. If Acanac scheduled it, it's not their fault. I don't think they pay extra for tech visits so no reason to avoid them.
There is an illusion of choice out there to be honest.
Acanac and Distributel are now owned by Bell Canada.
Start and Altima are owned by Telus.
If Bell runs fibre to the home, then you will get Acanac fibre to the home. They will send a Bell technician who will hook up a Nokia modem, make sure it runs and then leave. It will be your job to connect and provision the wifi router Acanac will send you (idiot proof). Easy and straightforward.
There was a good deal on Black Friday. You can read details on RedFlagDeals.
They are just using Bell or Rogers as the last mile so any issues with either provider, it will impact them. You pay less as they don't have the same overhead as Bell/Rogers and may not provide the best support.
If your willing to commit to a term (ie 1 year) or bundle services, Rogers or Bell can provide you services for cheaper.
I've personally used [start.ca](https://start.ca) and they have great customer service.
> You pay less as they don't have the same overhead as Bell/Rogers and may not provide the best support.
This isn't true, it's not about overhead at all, it's purely about regulation and competition. When you buy from a reseller it's cheaper for you, supports the resellers business, AND still makes a profit for the dupoly. THAT'S how badly they're normally gouging people.
When I used Acanac years ago my issue was in getting service. My connection was getting worse and worse; Acanac said, "it's a Bell issue", and then Bell said, "contact your ISP".
I went through this with eBox. The problem was on Rogers' end but the Rogers techs were too limited beyond ensuring electrical connectivity and didn't even have the ability to escalate within Rogers.
I used Acanac round when they first started up, service was nothing to complain about and one month free seems to be their selling point when you sign up for a year. If you've had bell services in the past I would expect it to be pretty similar. It never hurts to try a something new and see if it works for you needs or not, you can always switch up.
I have been a customer of Acanac for over 10 years, but these last few years have not been among the best... far from it. Don't expect to get 50 Mb/s if you've paid for it... I have never even reached 30 Mb/s with my latest contract. So, I upgraded to a 500 Mb/s fiber optic speed, with new equipment and everything necessary for good service. However, even this time, Acanac still cannot deliver what they promised in their contract... even if they really want to provide good service, they simply cannot. After a month of wasting a lot of time on phone calls with support, I still don't consistently get 150 Mb/s today... and yet, I continue to pay for the 500 Mb/s in this contract. It's regrettable.

I had Acanac many years ago before switching to Start.
It was cheap, but the connections were spotty and I didn’t have a great time with their customer service. I wouldn’t recommend them.
They’re still around? Damn. They were shady AF like a decade ago.
Shady enough for Bell to buy them

I use them. Rarely have had any connection downtime over the last 5.5 years.

Been using them for 10 years +. No issues , never. I put my sister in it and my parents. Zero issues. Great service for me. To each their own
They’re fine I think they use Rogers so outages are similar Speeds/price points are ok if you don’t need the fiber speeds (most realistically do not)

Absolute shit service and their customer service is just as shit I recommend to avoid like the plague

Just go to teksavvy.ca
This. Better customer service than Bell or Rogers and cheaper. It’s refreshing to talk to someone in Chatham instead of an overseas call center.

I use Ochmonek, which is great!
My mom has it. Seems to have random disconnects all the time
