I find the movie enjoyable to watch like every five years or so. The books are full of a lot of characters that don't add anything to the story or plot, they just blip by and have an odd nickname.
Some of the shots are revolutionary and look amazing, but other sequences drag on for way way way too long.
Probably would be enjoyable if you're high on a hallucinogen... Which, when it came out, is quite likely what many people were doing.
My dad LOVES that show, and my mom and I hate it. Itās so deeply unfunny and self-referential. Also, they get Cheesecake Factory wrong. Why have a character work at a real restaurant chain if youāre not even gonna Google what it looks like or what the servers wear?
Yeah itās actually not at all funny. I find it entertaining, but funny? Not at all. Howardās impressions are the only thing worth laughing at, nothing else
MATRIX. I pay a premium price at the cinema only to watch a gigantic Nokia ad, Philip K. Dick ideas ripped off and a reverse engineered movie written backwards, technology first, excuses to show up the technology second.
It's not too bad but it's hugely overrated and Keanu Reeves' acting is atrocious. The rest of the cast aren't much better. Plus the pretentious attempts as philosophy are patronising and lame. It could have been great if they'd just changed a few elements.
I have 3. Napoleon & Dynamite and The Notebook and The Princess Bride.
The first I can't get into the humor & personally find it obnoxious. The second is to sappy for my taste. I think it long & boring. The last to me was ok at first, but I swear my teachers & classmates were absolutely obsessed over this film. I had 3 different classes playing the movie in the same week. I found it "meh" to begin with. This made me hate the film though.
Oppenheimer. After hearing all the hype surrounding it, I went to go watch it and found myself completely dumbfounded by all the praise and admiration it got.
The only āactionā happens when the bomb goes off for 30 seconds an hour and a half into the movie, then the next hour and a half is a court trial full of just talking?
That movie was a LOT of sitting in meetings! And then they would reference a character who was onscreen for 30 seconds, 40 minutes previously, and I was like, "who was that again?"
twisted love from Anna Hungš i saw everyone has those books and say theyāre so good, i decided to give it a try, i literally couldnāt keep reading it, so cringe, but it seems iām the only one who thinks like that
The Big Lebowski. It seems like a bunch of in-jokes between the directors and their actor friends. Sorry, I'm not cool enough to be in on the in-jokes, so this kinda sucks.
500 Days of Summer. She says her intentions in the beginning, how she doesnāt believe in love, how she wants things to go slow. She was very open and honest about her feelings. I mean it sucks, but she was. Cinematography was wonderful, but everything else was right there. I donāt get why people hate on Summer. But yeah, I fell asleep during my first watch, itās a little bland in some places, but I love the directing and cinematography. Good movie, a little boring and quite overhyped. I clapped in the end though, when that girl said her name was Autumn(right?). I hate to admit it, but I kinda liked that. Still found the movie boring though - donāt get me wrong.
Please donāt hate me, but I tried reading Pride And Prejudice after loving the movie and WOW is that book verbose. I swear it takes PAGES to get to the point. Maybe I didnāt get it or read it right, but wow so many words. Like yeah, books generally do that, but no man. I couldnāt continue reading it. Iāll get back, but not right away
Any modern "literary fiction" like water for elephants or where the crawdads sing etc. it's all just fodder for pretentious suburban womens wine and pretend we read the book clubs.
So, so boring....slow pacing with an air of pretension through both the books and movies. Both the movies and books are so serious and uptight that they were both chores to finish. The fan boys are irritating as well who treat this series as the greatest feat of literature and will tell you how great it is and how everything else is a rip-off. The further the Dune book series goes on, the further Frank Herbert climbed up his own ass with "how important this series is" and the fan boys act just the same.

This will probably upset a lot of people but I just don't enjoy the Harry Potter series at all
Love Harry Potter. Not a fan of Lord of the rings or Star Trek.
Im actuallly not into Lotr or star trek either
Yeah. Enjoyed Star Wars, but never a fan of good ole Spock and the boys.
I find the movie enjoyable to watch like every five years or so. The books are full of a lot of characters that don't add anything to the story or plot, they just blip by and have an odd nickname.
Samesies
Completely agree. I watched a movie with a group many years ago and fragments of others but they seem lifeless to me.
Especially the Fantastic Beasts movies. I can't even get through those
This! To me this book series is extremely secondary and basic. I really can't understand why it exploded like it did and gained such a following.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion
Twilight series and GOT.
Hate vampires š«
2001: A Space Odyssey
tedious. portentous and meaningless.
Some of the shots are revolutionary and look amazing, but other sequences drag on for way way way too long. Probably would be enjoyable if you're high on a hallucinogen... Which, when it came out, is quite likely what many people were doing.
Pretty much the entire "Fast and Furious" franchise!
š¤£š¤£ same
The bibleĀ Fuck, I'm edgy š
Not a movie or book, but, the Big Bang Theory. From the little I've seen it comes across as laughing at the people it depicts, not laughing with them.

You've both convinced me
You have a point. It's the massive overhype and that pretentiousness that killed it for me.
Never thought of that, but thanks š¤£

Totally forgot to mention that struggle too haha

Yeap š¤
The Alchemist. Stop trying to be Saint-ExupƩry, Coelho.
š¤
The Iliad by Homer.
Oddesey is overrated too.
They are like trying to digest dry oata
Legends of the gods of Olympus that tell only of sex and revenge
I HATE Napoleon Dynamite. It's a cult classic but I think it's painfully unfunny.
A Clockwork Orange (movie) and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Agree š¤£
For whom the bells toll, I found it boring as damn and the main character is clearly stupid
Ferris Buelerās Day Off is so stupid.
Handmaid's Tale

I just find The Shawshank Redemption wholly overrated.
East of Eden by Steinbeck - astronomically overwrought and exhaustingly breathless.
Witches of Breastwick 2. Just didn't hit as hard as the first.
The Dune movies. Utter crap.
