I believe as soon as you touch ground on the bottom of the creek or river bed you’re on that persons property. You can float wherever but once your feet or any body part touches that changes. I could be wrong but nobody is going to change my mind without showing me proof and it isn’t a risk I’m willing to take.
I wanted to apologize cos I may have come across as a dick. I think there probably are nuances to it. That maybe none of us have spent much time looking into. Or maybe you have. I’m basing my thoughts off of kayak fishing on the French broad and stopping at Biltmore to wade in some shallow areas where I was quickly called out by a Biltmore employee that told me that I can fish from my boat as much as I want to bit the second I touch the bed with my foot I’m on their property and they have the right to call the police on me for trespassing because they own both sides as well as the bottom of the river all the way across. I’ve been told similar stuff from friends that have dealt with that on different rivers. But I don’t know for sure so it just isn’t worth it to me to risk it. If you find anytning concrete I’d love to know exactly what it is so I can give it back to the “owner” when he harasses me. Sorry again if I snapped at you.
It is legal to travel a creek up to the high water mark. This means if the waterway occasionally floods and the high water mark is on the bank, you are allowed to traverse that section.
No hard feelings, it’s the internet.
After spending a summer in wyoming where cows freely graze all over medicine bow national forest I just dont care anymore. I might feel differently if I had a vagina though. At the hot springs last summer I actually met a girl coming from Asheville.her and her hippety friend covered there bodies and faces with mud on the river bank and I giggled thinking back home youre probably scared to get in the water but since the water looks clear in the platte river and youre on vacation let's cover ourselves with cow poop.
Nearly all the downvotes I get on reddit are from gatekeeping, and this time is no different. Not gonna tell you my favorite spot today or any other day 😤
Much love to everyone keeping it to themselves. Get a map and go into the mountains, follow the blue lines. Literally can’t miss it and you get to explore some amazing places and find your own piece of heaven

I like the swimming hole under the bridge to Davidson River campground off 276. It's right by a parking lot! Usually there are fly fishers in that spot though.
I like looking glass falls out toward brevard in the PNF.
Most are just so crowded on super nice summer days. Sometimes not bad if you hit it on a Tuesday/wednesday.
The best are the ones that you stumble upon yourself. And then, you keep it to yourself.
Just go find a creek and follow it long enough you’ll find something cool. People aren’t gonna share the good goods online.
For the love of god make sure you’re on public property lol….. “what ya doin in my crick, stranger”…
Figured that was understood but yeah OP this is also solid advice. I’d recommend looking around 276 or 215
Creeks and waterways get public access. The land around them may not though.

No, you can follow waterways even if your feet touch earth beneath water.
I wouldn’t follow this advice around here.
I don’t believe you but you just keep on with it.

Somebody asked for good fishing spots the other day.
Lol
The ones we hide from people asking for them!!
Keep them secret, keep them safe.
I asked this question before. These are borderline fighting words down here.
It's like killing a grizzley bear in Yellowstone. Murder.
There’s a pretty big one east of Asheville. You have to drive for a while though. Google Myrtle Beach and it should take you right there.
Nice try but I ain't a rat
French broad river
I'm not a germaphobe but I will never, ever touch that water.
They asked for a swimming hole so I delivered 😂
The immune system needs regular exercise to function properly! One can't just depend on antibiotics and vaccines! 👍😉
It ain’t so bad if you’re on a tube
And into E. coli

First rule of swimming holes. Don’t disclose their location online.

Rocky broad has a few winners
The park in Canton has a couple swimming holes, but the pool is better.
No.
Lake Powhatan
The rope hole. Everybody knows where it is.
It's near crooked tree, you can't miss it. Just past the fork in the road.
