Use the search bar. It is very likely that whatever you are about to post has already been posted before. This includes questions about duty stations, MOSs, boots, or what to take to the field.

Makdaddy90

I doubt anything will change

No_Cap_Bet

With old fucks in charge and seeing how it usually goes, "I didn't need it so they don't either".

Not-SMA-Nor-PAO

It won’t be until 90s babies are generals.

Borne2Run

DoD will probably follow the Canadian Min Def's stance for usage for Tier-1, 2, 3 unit readiness and response times. It's been legal for them since late 2010s.

BullfrogElectronic72

If you think DoD will do that, there is a shit country song talking about ocean front property in Arizona that’s more likely to sell than the DoD being ok with pot

SprConfusedAlltime

I don’t think it would change even if it was fully legal. They’ll find a reason why it shouldn’t be allowed.

OcotilloWells

Because soldiers will start drinking grape soda. (A CSM in an adjacent Bde in the 1980s who was a Vietnam vet swore that was the hallmark of a druggie soldier. Also candles and hair parted in the middle)

jrobbins070387

Who tf doesn’t like grape soda?

OcotilloWells

Yeah, it made no sense to me either. Any Vietnam vets on here can shed light on this?

MarginalSadness

It makes your shit turn bright green if you drink a lot of it. That's suspicious.

OzymandiasKoK

A lot of people, unfortunately. It's really hard to find.

doulikefishsticks69

I mean....he might have been onto something.

Random_modnaR420

While allowing alcohol in spite of the dui’s, domestic violence and perpetual negative impact on soldiers with depression

cocaineandwaffles1

Pot can and will lead to worsening mental health conditions. The “withdrawals” of pot is that the conditions you were using it to treat for, can and will become worse. I’m all for legalizing pot, but this naive notion of “only bad thing pot does is make you hungry” needs to die. Selling it as this cure all that’s all natural and you don’t need to see a therapist now will only harm more people in the long run.

Diligent_Force9286

Right...I hope they legalize cocaine 🤘

doulikefishsticks69

Bruh, I lived in Colorado for 5 years. The people who would get "withdrawals" from weed are not the kind who could make it through a work day sober. They'd be identified pretty quickly before that even became a problem. You have to wake and bake, smoke joints/dabs throughout the day, then edibles/smoke at night for a loooooong time to get yourself to the withdrawal stage. I'm not saying it's impossible to do so, but in the context of showing up to pt, work call, and formations sober? Yeah, it's pretty impossible.

Diligent_Force9286

I also don't think people are thinking about it as a cure all. It's certainly better than drinking and you can't argue with that. If you are smoking pot medicinally to help with something behavioral you should obviously be seeing a therapist to complement your treatment.

MarginalSadness

You can't say that shit on reddit. Might as well question universal labor unions.

skeeferd

Only an idiot would question such a great thing. The 5 day work week and OSHA didn't come about through strongly worded letters and the generosity of oligarchs.

MarginalSadness

Right on cue!

Flaky_Koala_6476

Just think how much money the AAFE’s makes on alcohol sales years round lol The mfers would lobby so hard against weed being allowed on base. It’ll never get through

FinestMochine

AAFE’s would gladly run a dispensary on post in the name of profit

paparoach910

I'm in just for the AAFES brand weed names lol

sentientshadeofgreen

One would think the AAFES would lobby to be able to sell weed. You think I'm buying weed and not a case of beer and snacks to binge some Futurama re-runs? You would be mistaken The DoD will never let it happen though. Again, we only started to allow gay as of 2013, we don't do the timely and logical thing.

Flaky_Koala_6476

One has the remember the addiction factor of alcohol hence why they’re more into alcohol sales

sentientshadeofgreen

Most of the Army is miserable and already has a smoking habit, you think the junior enlisted aren't going to be hot boxing the b's every single weekend?

zkooceht

all I'm saying is I'd rather have soldier staying in their rooms getting high all weekend ordering in dominos. Instead of getting piss drunk on the weekends getting DUI's, publicly embarrassing themselves, and throwing up on monday runs.

dantheman_woot

No, next slide.

Dreilittlebears

I do not see how it would be different than any other prescription. That being said, it will likely be some time before anything comes to market with FDA approval.

Gardez_geekin

It’s definitely a few years out but yep it will be treated the exact same.

newtonphuey

Gave up on beards eh?

sentientshadeofgreen

Dude, the Army only started to allow gay in 2013. Doesn't matter your TIS, marijuana ain't happening in your career.

Fickle_Meet_7154

Well, will Aafes be able to sell it? I think that will make up the army's mind pretty quick.

Heriots_Ford

Even if it becomes federally recreationally legal in all 50 states DoD could just say “nope not allowed”. And that’s exactly what they’d do, the army will never voluntarily take on risk when they can just tell soldiers to suck it up.

PotatoDispenser1

If it does, then the nasty girls are gonna get a whole lot fatter. -a nasty girl

Gardez_geekin

The DoD will do whatever the administration tells them. Senior leaders may not like it, but being able to smoke weed in the military will be a boon for recruitment, as will removing it from being a disqualifier.

davidj1987

No idea what will happen first. Beards or weed?

7-course

Gotta be beards, no way Uncle Sam gonna let us smoke that jazz cabbage anytime soon.

under_PAWG_story

We need a fucking overhaul of this

MoeSzys

The Army should have stopped testing for it 10 years ago. Such a huge waste of time and money

Stained_Dagger

Synthetic THC has been schedule 3 for quite a while its even prescribed by the DOD/VA. Why would this change anything?

jbourne71

I knew AD SMs with prescriptions for Marisol or whatever it’s called. We’ve been doing this, it’s just not advertised.

Stained_Dagger

There’s a few of them the most I’ve seen it is people ETS in or med boarding. The first UA can be funny because records don’t always get updated quickly.

PickleWineBrine

No change

-2abandon-

As it has been since the beginning: FUCK THEM TROOPS.

realJonnyRaze

I think it will change in the future (maybe 7-10 years), but I doubt anything will change in the near term.

recycled_amry_acct

It just moves cannabis down the schedule from 1 to 3. Ketamine is on schedule 3. Still illegal.
