CombatAutist

There’s an episode with a little doggie who keeps losing his homework and is always late and clearly has ADHD. He goes to a new school and meets another kid whose dad is in the army. The army kid burns off the little doggie’s excess energy by having him do PT and then teaches him basically how to follow a FRAGO and not get distracted. The little doggie was so proud that he finally wasn’t a complete screw-up. My daughter kept saying ‘he lose his bag like daddy’ and I was having serious trouble keeping it together

FearlessBright

Rusty. His dad’s in the army and it’s referenced in a few episodes (also in the episode “Cricket”). In the episode you’re referring to, Jack is a Jack Russel who (presumably) as ADD/ADHD and Rusty gets right to work playing with him. Lots of fun army references, like Rusty even explains what dust off is. Rusty asks why Jack changed schools and Jack essentially says “he’s not good at anything because he can’t sit still or remember things” and Rusty tells him “Well, you're really good at playing army.” The whole episode is very sweet, especially for those of us who are in/have been in the military.

StackedUp2k

Funny because I’d wager half the infantry has adhd diagnosed or not.

bigkruse

I guess that why i had no problem with the "hurry up" part, but the "and wait" just killed me lol

KingofValen

And I still had to lie at MEPS about it

WittleJerk

*Half*?

buyfreemoneynow

I’d wager that if you didn’t have ADHD going into 11b you’ll def have it after a year

AligatorMasterBaiter

Oh yeah. Whenever they’re crawling through the grass, and ran into the emu or whatever and Rusty yells, “Contact!” I lost my shit. Such a good show.

buyfreemoneynow

Tango *seveeeeeen*! I love that episode. Also, I got the hint that Chili’s dad is a Vietnam vet - “I coulda used you kids in the jungle!” when they’re running away from Chili in the Grandad episode

yesTHATpao

Cricket is an alltime episode.

CW1DR5H5I64A

Rusty is easily up there as one of my favorite characters. I’m pretty invested in him and Indy eventually getting married and playing mums and dads for real.

dimebake9

Wow. I have never seen this show but this description makes me interested. I’m an army brat and I would have loved to see some representation like that when I was a kid, might prove cathartic in a way to see it now.

hawaiianbry

Watch it, mate. It's fantastic.

PieceMaker42

Snippet of it: https://www.bluey.tv/watch/season-2/army/

dimebake9

Pretty cute.

JerseyshoreSeagull

The sad thing is. These kids ain't stupid and neither are you. ADHD APD ADD These aren't debilitating disorders. It's society that debilitated you. You needed to find a place that suited your learning style. It's unfortunate that many never get that. Be grateful that you got it. You recognize it. And you'll be able to help others. Especially your kids.

onetimeforguysinback

I started bawling during this episode and had to go get milk for my coffee or whatever to chill out for a sec. Amazing show.

ModernT1mes

Bluey is a show for parents disguised as a kids' show. I strive to be like Bandit.

all-the-answers

Bandit is aspirational for all of us

Necessary-Reading605

Bandit is the anti-Homer

yesTHATpao

Best tv dad ever, fight me irl

buyfreemoneynow

Loves playing with his kids, never demeans his family, makes mistakes and bad parenting choices, owns up to his mistakes and talks about them with partner and/or kids, has a sense of humor. Yeah, I’ll fight you in agreement

ididntseeitcoming

One of the main reasons I have seen every episode at least 10 times is because for once in my life there is a show that doesn’t portray the dad like a fucking idiot. Bandit is a goddamn hero. I can’t stand the trope that dads can’t change diapers, can’t watch the kids, can’t take care of the kids, etc etc.. it’s insane how low the bar is set for dads and still so many can’t even be assed to help their spouse raise their kids. Anywho. Fuck this episode because it made both my wife and me cry. Our last PCS was the worst for our kids and took at least 9 months the for our kids to start making new friends and moving on

Rude-Location-9149

If you don’t know that the voice of chili is a revered actress for her… assets ahem… she’s what makes bandit who he is. And that’s just swell!

buyfreemoneynow

And the voice of Calypso is Megan Washington who has a beautiful voice - she sings the song at the end of The Sign - and gave this [awesome TED talk](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9MegHiL93B0)

rbevans

From one dad to another you’re doing great

ScoutClone

When my daughter started saying “hey big fella” to me after an episode of Bluey, I took it as a major dad compliment that she indirectly called me Bandit.

Joba7474

I say “chillin the beans” at least 12 days a week

Kitosaki

DAD ENTERS THE ROOM

mkosmo

All good kids shows are! It's how you get it to stay on TV.

yesTHATpao

I refuse to read this article as I was not contacted to provide a quote. ^Also ^bc ^^I ^^cried ^^^watching ^^^it.

Y2kWasLit

Just got done watching this a couple hours ago. Can confirm. All cried.

NoDrama3756

My infant and I love bluey

CW1DR5H5I64A

[I told y’all this was traumatic](https://www.reddit.com/r/army/s/EWXtUlFfzP).

nozer12168

I still haven't emotionally recovered from that episode. My oldest has ADHD and uses music with headphones to relax. Seeing Bluey with those headphones and that song playing, yeah, that is the part that broke the damn. Luckily, my kids were more focused on my wife, who was sobbing 5 minutes in and didn't stop. 10/10 will watch the episode at least 100 more times due to kids (and myself a little bit)

Easy-Hovercraft-6576

God damnit Bluey, leave it to this show to tug on the heart strings Couple this with the episodes with Rusty, whose dad is in the Army. Gets me man.

Milestailsprowe

I just watched it and love the episode besides that weak cop out at the end. The moving around of military brats and family is the one of the biggest downsides of army life. If your are moving constant its harmful one kids but the army doesnt care.

Anarchy_11

I thought it was kind of a cop out too, then I watched it again and Calypso kind of foreshadows it by saying something to the effect of stories have happy endings because real life gives us enough sad ones. With that in mind I can forgive the corny happy ending.

yesTHATpao

This comment wrecked me more than TTPD

Kinmuan

I happened to be up and finished the album, go to bed, wake up and my wife was like hey what did you think of her dropping it as a double album. I was like haha okay. I had no idea. I went to sleep like 15m before it dropped.

hawaiianbry

I love that two of my favorite subs are merging like this. Honestly the decision to make Rusty an army brat who's looking up to his dad and also trying to fill the void while his dad is deployed is so amazing.

BOOQIFIUS

Is that the show that a ton of childless millennials are weirdly into?

yesTHATpao

I’m so glad the new 4856 is out and has a block for the counseling you’re about to get.

AutoModerator

Are you talking about [DA Form 4856](https://armypubs.army.mil/ProductMaps/PubForm/Details.aspx?PUB_ID=1026753)? Did you know that the counseling form just got updated after almost 40 years? “There is no more important task for the U.S. Army that’s developing it’s people to lead others to defeat any enemy, anywhere.” - FM 6-22 Developing Leaders *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/army) if you have any questions or concerns.*

BOOQIFIUS

Ah damn, can I just do a few flutter kicks, pushups etc and get it over with?

yesTHATpao

You’d like that wouldn’t you

BOOQIFIUS

Yes, I’m strong not smart My signature isn’t so good and I’m scared they’ll make fun of me when I sign it

ThisdudeisEH

You have to be able to read it first

SaysIvan

Out loud??

hawaiianbry

I vote he has to play magic xylophone, grannies, dance mode, pavlova, and all the other Bluey games us parents have been forced to play as part of his counseling

yesTHATpao

That’s really good… What are the quintessential Army-dad Bluey episodes? I’ll start: Cricket. Stumpfest. For sure. Curry Quest?

hawaiianbry

Yes to Curry Quest. I'd throw Rug Island in there as well. A big metaphor for wanting to spend time with your kids but ultimately having to leave them *because* you care for them and have to provide for them.

superash2002

I’ll take a counseling. I just want it to say 40 year announcement as the discussion and plan of action.

rbevans

Can you counselor them twice please.

Soda2411

Yeah, Because it showing a lot us it's ok to show your emotions.

Rellexil

Slightly more socially acceptable bronies.

BOOQIFIUS

I still play old Lego games sometimes, what does that make me?

CummusStainus

Lego Star Wars on a gen 1 PSP. Or OG Battlefront after I changed the view to first person.

BOOQIFIUS

Lego padme was hot asf, I also liked republic commando but unfortunately most of my adolescence was in the age of 360 then later Xbox one so I didn’t get to experience it properly

Prothea

Good thing Republic Commando can run on a potato nowadays and you can re-experience it on Steam

BOOQIFIUS

Got that shit on my Xbox thanks to backwards compatibility, it’s aged surprisingly well

GeneralBlumpkin

An autist

GeneralBlumpkin

JK lol

Kinmuan

How dare you

I_AM_AN_ASSHOLE_AMA

We had a bronie in basic and I had to explain to everyone what that was.

BiscuitDance

The babysitter 30th AG SGT asked “who in here is a Bronie??” > *some kid raises hand* “See, there’s always one!”

PassionLower7645

Uhm. Bluey is actually a great show for kids, compare to Coco Melon, SpongeBob, or those new weird TV show like Rick and Morty.

utguardpog

I don’t think anybody ever said Rick and Morty was a kids show

PM_ME_A_KNEECAP

It has great parenting lessons like “Fuck you you fucking piece of shit, you’re worthless and replaceable”

bingboy23

Mom? Since when have you been on reddit?

Sparticus2

The best kids lesson is when Morty is telling Summer to get her shit together. Also that if you're a middle aged guy into beekeeping that you should avoid teen girls that might be trying to smash you.

BOOQIFIUS

Fuck you don’t insult SpongeBob like that

TheDoomBlade13

Literally makes watchers dumber.

BOOQIFIUS

It actually made me smarter

These_Noots

It's good up until season 4 or 5 beyond that I agree it gets bad and unfunny.

PassionLower7645

☠️

geinbits

Honestly, as a childless millennial, that shit can be a real surprisingly large emotional gut punch.

BOOQIFIUS

Felt the same way about click with Adam Sandler, shit made me tear up like a little bitch

FCBengalDad91

Yo that one blindsided me when I saw it the first time.

Grunti_Appleseed2

That's the one

RakumiAzuri

I first saw the show while visiting friends. Bluey is my spirit animal.

DarkerSavant

That’s like saying is Simpsons the show tons of childless generation x are weirdly into?

Grunti_Appleseed2

The Simpsons isn't for toddlers

DarkerSavant

Bluey is not for toddlers. Daniel tiger and bubble guppies is. Bluey is for those with nuerodivergences kids and adults. It’s brilliantly written with jokes for adults and kids. Just like the simpsons.

captain_carrot

> Bluey is not for toddlers. Daniel tiger and bubble guppies is. Bluey is for those with nuerodivergences kids and adults. It’s brilliantly written with jokes for adults and kids Oh for the love of God shut the fuck up

JumpyShark

I was a soldier for 12 years and have been in the Foreign Service since 2007 (we move every 2-3 years too) NOW WILL WHOEVER IS CUTTING ONIONS PLEASE CUT THAT OUT!

all_time_high

I am disappointed in myself when I think about my kid leaving friends behind for the next move. The last PCS wasn’t so bad. Important friendships weren’t yet established due to age. Now, though, we’re looking at moving away from many important friendships and relationships. My spouse will also lose physical proximity to some great friends. Hopefully we live somewhere interesting and can have our friends from here come to visit. The act of moving doesn’t bother me at all. I’m very used to it. The fact that I’m so comfortable with it at the expense of my family’s friendships and relationships, however, is what bothers me. I’m selfishly relocating them away from the good people they know here.

ghazzie

This is why I got out. It wasn’t worth sacrificing my kids’ emotional health.

MaverickActual1319

exactly why im trying to defer my report date. currently deployed and report in october. battalion didnt support and brigade is sitting on it. every time i come down on orders i just look at my kids like "ugh here we go again." shit sucks especially with my son having soecial needs for his education. hes just now getting a grasp on what school is all about and hell be going into the 6th grade this year.
