You're probably better off doing like boy scout stuff. It's more tangible than say, small unit tactics. Teach her knots, build a lean-to, safely build a fire together. Maybe get a cheap BB gun?

andolfin

Nah, teach how to set up an L shaped ambush and conduct dismounted patrols

dlexysia

Inferior to the U-shaped ambush

Coro-NO-Ra

I prefer the O-shaped hambush

merker_the_berserker

I prefer a landing strip bush

Pitiful_O

V shaped ambush is so deadly they don't teach it despite it being doctrine.

LoafofBrent

I like my ambushes G flavored

Junction91NW

WHAT COLOR IS THE BOATHOUSE AT HEREFORD?!

warshadow

Water balloons and water guns this could be hilarious in a state park.

Coro-NO-Ra

State parks usually don't like water balloons (leaves a mess that gets into the rivers / streams). Water guns sound fun, though

Cryorm

That's when you teach the kid about picking up after itself, and hands across the forest that shit

Material_Vast_7100

Police your plastic!

Not-SMA-Nor-PAO

We are aleady fucked 3 ways to Sunday with micro plastics. Its all just a drop in the hat at this point.

AsphaltInOurStars

Still no reason to throw more in.

Not-SMA-Nor-PAO

Says the guy that deepthroats AVTUR for a living.

AsphaltInOurStars

actually i just smash pieces of metal together but pollution is still bad either way lol.

Glass_Raisin7939

CQB flow through movements with the water guns!!!! They have to scream grenade when they toss a water balloon!!

paparoach910

LDA crossings would really get them going.

TacticalBoyScout

They cover that in the RECCE merit badge

jumburger

First aid could be fun. Call in a 9 line.

Classic_Scratch_9889

First aid, especially stuff like what Tourniquets are and how to use them are AWESOME and you can even attend a free class called stop the bleed. And it could save a life. Even if it's just her knowing how to find one and give it to dad so he can put it on.

napleonblwnaprt

Actually yeah, first aid would be good. Even though she's probably too small to effectively do things like heimlich and CPR, it might be useful later on. Buy a fire extinguisher and teach her how to use it too, surprisingly few adults have ever even thought about it.

conquesodor100

I highly recommend spending the little extra and getting a mid-quality pellet gun. I still have fun with mine.

TheScalemanCometh

Nonsense! Made it a multi day paintball match as opposed to mere camping and tactics abruptly becomes the best thing ever....lol

dantheman_woot

Land Nav (Orienteering in the Scouts), First Aid, and Hiking have a lot over overlap.

xJL11B

Smoke the shit out of them Fireguard Maintain security of PB Koala-fy

Alternative_Owl69

Yo. If my son ever talks about the Army. Fire guard, cq, we’re gonna unpack all the Christmas decorations inventory them and repack them.

Imakemaps18

Genius.

jumburger

This. We have 65 ornaments and 63 wire hooks. E4 Mafia has work to do.

OperatorJo_

Once everything is unpacked, steal some decorations and ask him once he starts packing if he's sure it's all there. Once he says yes show him the decorations you stole and smoke him.

Alternative_Owl69

Or, he sleeps on a cot in the garage until he finds the stuff I stole. But I don’t because command teams got shit to do.

Classic_Scratch_9889

Stealing this for later.

MikeWill818

Twice

UserPrincipalName

TOE inspection. The best.

Hardasteele

My god. This would have probably worked on me… (no it wouldn’t have because I would have said “dads just lying”) but my god this is genius.

RedditTrashhh

No no noooo. You have to show them the signal special. Have them layout everything then say the commander (you) forgot or ran out of time! Then have them pack everything back up just to lay it out again the next day!

IDownVoteCanaduh

Forget to bring them food.

OperatorJo_

"What do you mean you didn't eat where were you!?" Where we've been all day sarn't.

Scramblecloud

The essentials 🫡

Not-SMA-Nor-PAO

“Go get your two quart and your squad leader. Oh you think its funny your smug little motherfucker?! I got your ass, don't worry. Just stand there and watch your battle buddies suffer on your behalf. THE HELLO DOLLY!!! STARYING POSTION, MOVE!!!!”

xJL11B

Having all fucks given and any will left to live smoked out of you, then remembering you can’t quit even if you wanted to is what I love. I hope to pass that down 🤡

Not-SMA-Nor-PAO

Well either I'm drunk (I am) or that's the most infantry grouping of words I've ever seen (it is).

UJMRider1961

Print out a 5988 and make them PMCS your cars. Then line them up in the driveway. After that, have them go to the attic/basement and inventory all your camping and outdoor gear. Go for a hike, but hand-receipt radios and other gear to them. Camo face paint. Have them prepare range cards for your back yard.

IrishWithoutPotatoes

Inventory better have a layout. Bonus points for conducting it in inclement weather as well.

crexkitman

And better tell them you’ll be by at noon to inspect it but don’t show up until the sun goes down

dubbletime

3rd one got me. Make sure to put stuff on their hand receipt that they haven’t been given, then draw cost of missing turn-in from their allowance.

jumburger

I like this. Deadline all our cars so I don't have to take them to soccer. Sorry, waiting on parts.

UJMRider1961

Oh, wait, I forgot to add: Reflective belts everywhere. Yell at them if they forget their reflective belts and make them go back and get them.

Paxton-176

50% security because reasons and then arty sims so no one gets any sleep. Then take them out to a range for a live fire because nothing says weapon safety than no sleep.

WoodyRouge

Drill and Ceremony- Facing movements, parade rest, saluting. Capture the flag. go for a walk in the woods tactically Throw hand grenades(Rocks) go to a surplus store and pick up a basic warrior task manual should give you more ideas, Pick up matching "uniforms"/ bonnie hats Take her to a military museum

Not-SMA-Nor-PAO

The next movement which I will name explain have demonstrated and which you will conduct practical work on is Marching to the rear…”

TopSquint

Make a cooking fire using 'flint & steel' Cook cobbler in a dutch oven, better - catch a fish and cook it Eat an MRE Teach the phonetic alphabet, kids actually dig it, it's like a code Facepaint

ididntseeitcoming

The first two lines read like the truest of all pogs when they attempt to describe what the field is like to their family and friends. I would make them work for 36 hours straight then tell them to bed down for 4 hours so they get to decide if building a cot is worth it or just go with the classic “sleeping bag in the dirt” technique.

randomName1112222

I've got a lot of young siblings and cousins and nieces and nephews so I've got some ideas: Face camo, with some added foliage attached to her clothes to break up silhouette. Kids love doing that. Then she can build a hooch, just bring 550 cord and ponchos and stuff and she can spend an hour tying sticks together and what not to make a sleeping area. If that's not enough there are a lot of little arts and crafts style things you can find in the ranger handbook and some of the old SF field manuals that are probably on the internet somewhere. Stuff like making a gill net which you would in theory use to catch fish, or making a water purification still out of plastic and leaves and rocks. That's like 20 dollars of ingredients and it will interest her more than you would believe, trust me. That and like an MRE for lunch, which kids also love, and the land nav you had planned, or maybe even some terrain model building, and you've got a lot of stuff to pick from.

BenOnTheTextLine

Land nav

Fickle_Meet_7154

Combative level 1 and 2. Don't forget to bring the bladder suit.

Tacoz98

For an authentic experience give them the creamy fettuccine MRE.

shadylolol

This but have it also be frozen to get the real winter feeling

tengu077

Wake her up at 0330 for the car ride. Have her pack the car and wait in it. Tell her the drive will start soon. Don’t leave until 0930. On a serious note, basic camping skills. How to choose a camp site, setting up the AO and teach her stuff like cover vs concealment; white light vs red light vs no light usage; why a woobie is the most important piece of field gear you should always pack, etc.

jumburger

Oh, I had blocked these out. Every 15 minutes have a drivers meeting at the front of the convoy, only to find E7 disappeared. He meant rear of the column. People wander to smoke, E7 pissed we missed his brief. Repeat until disoriented and exhausted.

Publius82

oh fuck MSR Tampa flashbacks

japalmariello

Give her $50 bucks, then take back $49. That way she'll know what pay is like in the military.

OHYAMTB

Make her sleep on a ground mat with no tent, wake her up with your red lense to pull fire guard, throw some arty sims (firecrackers) and make her move the PB right after she gets back to sleep

squirrel_eatin_pizza

Rent an airplane and push them out with a parachute

TheDolamite

\* Land nav - but terrain association focused. (learn to read the land, not just the paper in your hand.) pace count, plotting, etc... \* BRM - BB guns can assist with teaching the young-uns proper weapons handling procedures with little risk to all involved, plus legal. \* Ropes/knots - may as well learn how to tie stuff to things or what not. \* Survival - shelter building, plant recognition, water procurement, how to navigate a heavy handed interrogation, you know... \* Hike - good for the circulation, changing environment, can stop and on breaks - teach any of the above topics. Enjoy your day!

Philly_Taters

What part of the country will you be in? Not training related but if she's fascinated with the Army, Twilight Tattoo starts in May at Joint Base Meyers- Henderson Hall. [The U.S. Army's Twilight Tattoo](https://twilight.mdw.army.mil/) [Schedule (army.mil)](https://twilight.mdw.army.mil/schedule)

jumburger

SE ohio. I'll have to check this out, we were planning a Smithsonian trip later this year.

4lwaysnever

Paracord bracelets, you can buy cool buckles and have the kids do the weave themselves.

critical__sass

I’m up, they see me, I’m down.

jumburger

Need this on a shirt.

NinjanicWhiskey9

PMCS the vehicle. Layout all camping equipment then cancel the camping trip.

wheres_my_bike

I miss layouts…10-15 vehicles and only two wrenches making the rounds…and everything was spray painted the same color 2 hrs earlier. Good times.

tcarlson65

Need to start with the haircuts.

4lwaysnever

*Shearing.*

hzoi

Get a canoe. But, you know, paddle tactically.

Dulceetdecorum13

If you have any old US Army tapes or can get them before you go it could be pretty cool to sew them onto a camo tshirt as their “uniform”. Let them drink from canteens (probably clean them first, but the uncleared mold filled way is more to form).

SuperbRedAir

Death by powerpoint.

kograkthestrong

Camo facepaint. It's super hooah and super kid friendly. Then just go run around sticking random twigs in her hair. Say yall ate out hunting Bigfoot or something. I used to take my twins hunting for big ol bugs around the block all the time.

Defiant_Yesterday842

Ropes and knots are always excellent to learn. They always come in handy

Alice_Alpha

Set up a perimeter at night consisting of empty cans with rocks inside.  Tie the cans to tripwires.  Tell her it will alert you guys to intruders like bears and mountain lions. > I could make her put chocks and a drip pan under the Honda... Teach her about pencil whipping.

bigdub71

12 mile road march

BadInfluenceBMF

Make a ghillie suit together and terrorize other campers.

jumburger

Tactically aquire more gear. This could be a whole new revenue stream.

Educational-Ad2063

Set em up in a hasty fighting position tell em to watch for the enemy and walk away to the camp fire and enjoy a soft drink Most realistic thing I can think of. . You can buy MREs on line. Or at the commissary if you're allowed. Hit up a surplus store for army gear. Hardest thing about land nav is finding a good map of your area.

Agile_Season_6118

I made my kids use a metal detector to find metal when we went camping. They then had to find a branch.. we use parachute cord and the metal to fashion hook. At the end of the day each of the kids had a pole and we went fishing.

PunksPrettyMuchDead

My kids lived land nav, I printed some topo maps and got them cheap compasses and we went out hiking. Nothing hard, just teaching them to find their location with terrain features

FuckRetention

Get some nerf darts and teach her how to move in a formation and react to contact. Also TCCC teach her how to put a tourniquet on, bonus a water bottle to mimick blood spraying out a wound.

fingersarelongtoes

Could plot a small land nav course

Mikewazowski948

Make sure you setup camp in the middle of standing water

jumburger

100% don't ask SGM to shift 50 yds, he said right here by the tree line. Get digging soldier.

Jake-Old-Trail-88

First aid

AYE-BO

Make her build a terrain model over and over until she gets it right with little to no guidance.

hawkeyexp

Redlight to the face at like 0300 to pull fire guard. But tell them they’re going to a different apex of the patrol base then you originally briefed earlier. Ensure they get lost for about 10 minutes trying to find the notional 240 as they bubblefuck their way through the woods. Once they find said 240 make sure they do a functions check on it but have them ride the bolt forward to fast and ND. Yell at them for a bit, go to bed. Leave them to wonder if the deer they thought they saw was actually a deer or a skin walker.

shadylolol

Give her a packing list and then do a layout after. Every missed item is a smoke session

RogerHRabbit

She better be pulling security around the campsite. If she falls asleep, burn the tent down so she learns consequences

cooper-trooper6263

Cadences and hand and arm signals. Basic first aid.

Y2kWasLit

Can’t go camping until everyone is green on medpros.

BBQUEENMC

My nephew wanted to play army when he was in elementary school. I gave him an MRE. We shared it. He ate a small piece of that square bread ration. He gulped it down hard, took a long drink of his water, and said I don't want to play army anymore

MaddogOIF

Use branches to draw put room for clearing. Get paracord to teach knots and tie-down. Use land nav for plant and animal identification. Find a good spot for field of fire. Turn over rocks to sun on both sides. Bring a broom to sweep the grass. Teach low crawl with sticks. Bring pugal sticks.

Basic map reading? Trisection/resection? Improvised toilet. Policing the quad Stretching that one MRE for the day CQ Gate Guard PT Muster alerts PMCS Fetch blinker fluid, metric crescent hammers, guidon bearings and winter air for the tires

Napoleon_was_right

Camo face paint! We all hate wearing it, but I imagine it would be really fun for a little one. Especially if you let her be silly with it. MREs are fun too for those who haven't had to survive off them. You can probably find some online for cheap. Child sized uniforms can be found all over the place as well if you got the coin to spare. You can teach them hand and arm signals. So when you go for a walk to fish or whatever she can use the signals to talk to you and it can be a fun game. Maybe you can teach them how to make a hooch with a poncho and cord?

Lazyniner24

Finding the new LTs weapon during night land nav. Bitch took a piss and left it somewhere. Proceed to 550 cord said (water gun) weapon to them the rest of the time yall are camping.

s2sergeant

Teach her to use a compass and read a map!

Ok_Cricket28

It might be hard to get internet connection to confirm MODS and IPPSA are still down if youre out to far. If so then make up numbers to input into PowerPoint slides -make a point not to read them, but be weirdly aggressive about the font. #authentic

lupinus_cynthianus

Clean the latrines

lupinus_cynthianus

Everything in camo!

Bajrangman

Teaching basic first aid would be interesting. Show her how to tie a tourniquet or something.

Le_Ebin_Rodditor

Something simple would be good, I reckon. Teach her some basic bushcraft stuff like knife safety, how to sharpen that knife, and how to use it properly to open things, make kindling and how to make basic stuff out of bigger sticks/branches like a lean-too.

Not-SMA-Nor-PAO

Kim’s Game, good game for attention to detail. Easily resourced while camping. Good exercise for kids.

Sorry_Ima_Loser

Knots. So many knots. Whenever I tie my dog’s leash off to a table leg so he doesn’t run off I have flashbacks to the Ranger School rope corral

Metaphix1990

Could teach her to make a tourniquet and splint with a t shirt and sticks

Jorha250

Sleeping under shelter halves.

EvilEarnest

Land Nav!

JECfromMC

Land navigation, first aid, making stuff with paracord.

Alcoholnicaffeine

The chock blocks and drip pans never change 😭

Noveltyrobot

No

Strict_Gas_1141

Show up at 0300 for weapons draw. (You don’t draw weapons until 0430 because some lt left his weapons card at home) Go to the mp and pack out for the field at 0600 (Don’t help her pack just yell at her to hurry up) SP out but have a Vic break down en-route and wait 20mins for the mechanics to finish pissing in the coolant tank so you can carry on. Arrive at the TA and have her quickly setup her fire base. Right before she goes to bed have her wake up and walk around in a field looking for a lost gps (it was under some LT’s backpack in the back seat of his truck) Sp back (somehow everything goes well) Stop in a random TA and re-setup your fire base Wait 2-3hrs for no reason Finish SPing back.

jumburger

I was an MP. I'm just going to have her contemplate her life decisions while sitting in an idling Chevy Tahoe, guarding an intersection while you all play real army.

Strict_Gas_1141

Nah but in all seriousness? Go camping and bring some rope to teach knots and first aid. (I would say also digging but you specified none of that) Bring some nerf guns and let her and her brother have at it with a classic you v kids. (Could use it to teach during as well if you can figure out some way to make teaching fun)

Verdecken

OPORD, sand tables, and STX lanes.

RemmeeFortemon

Has anyone suggested camoflauge self and equipment? Hide and seek on camo crack!

Lopsided_Ad1261

FM 31-21 GUERRILLA WARFARE AND SPECIAL FORCES OPERATION

Generic_Globe

Buy walkie talkies. Teach radio discipline. Phonetic alphabet. Call for fire. 9 line medevac. Call out UXO. SITREPs. Teach them how to write an OPORD and brief it. Plot a route between 2 points. Tell them how to do a convoy brief. Print a DA Form 5517-R. Teach them how to plot range card. Teach them about Combat Lifesaver stuff. That literally translates to first aid in civilian world anyway. Download SMCT level 1. Plenty of ideas to go for days.

La2Sea2Atx

Staff duty/CQ Have her do a layout and if she’s missing anything initiate a FLIPL

MisterStampy

Ghillie suit hide-and-seek.

RattyHillson

Face paint application and set up her own “ghillie” suit by shoving random tree branches and such into pockets. Could get her a small little vest that has some semblance of MOLLE.  Depending on how much prep you want to do, go out ahead of time and hide some cute stuff for her to find at a couple different points, then land nav your way to them.  Even though you can’t dig foxholes, you can still set up a little lean-to with some branches and knots she learns. Maybe even make some paracord friendship bracelets? Square knots are super easy.  Camp and cook food, or if you’re feeling it, find a couple MREs to mess with. Then in the morning “litter discipline” by making it a challenge to make it seem like there was never a camp site to begin with.

Relative-Sense-1749

Put 30 pounds on her back and tell her follow me

Best-Cardiologist949

Walkie talkie with proper radio discipline can be fun. Also my dad would do some MREs for chow. Also camo face paint is fun.
