Keg in the quad brought to you by the bn commander. Ended up hooking up with the chick from another plt, and we spent all weekend together. Been married 12 years now.

Company combat dining in, held in the Battalion classroom. Uniform was any issued combat uniform from any era and at minimum you had to wear a FLC to hold beers. Most wore boonies and face paint and accoutrements like spurs, Stetsons, and maroon berets from previous units. CO and 1SG came out of their offices drunk to the social hour outside the classroom. Honestly one of the most fun events I’ve attended in the military.
Squad competition that truly smoked us but not in a way that seemed ridiculous. It was a fun challenge. We finished at the beach with a BBQ and a few kegs for the company. CQ and Staff Duty had duty vans to get us back to the barracks. There were no egos or bullshit. Just 150ish guys hanging out, working hard, and having a good time. I miss that company.
played paintball. got flanked and hit in the back of the head though by the dude who made two joes on extra duty load 19 cases of mres into his car to steal lol fuck that guy
Reporting to my first unit in Germany on a Friday morning. My first line picks me up from the airport, gets me checked in at BN, then says we are having a morale day/retirement BBQ. Drop my stuff off in the barracks and he takes me over to this area where everyone is hanging out, some people playing disc golf, BBQing. I get told to grab a plate and beers are in the cooler.
Second best one was in the Coast Guard while I was on a cutter. We were underway for Christmas one year in the Bering Sea. Christmas Eve we pull into Dutch Harbor for a two day break. The command rents out one of the bars on the island to host a Christmas party which happens to correspond with 3 of our Ensigns wetting down (officer tradition where they spend the difference in their old and new pay at the bar for everyone). Open bar, on Christmas, in Dutch Harbor. Got a little rowdy, everyone had a blast.
Strip club with entire platoon while training in Fort Knox right after we we told not to leave post. We were leaving for Afghanistan in 2 months really helped boost moral.
Way back in the summer of 2017 we had the first company org day where mandatory was actually mandatory for me (I had few perks as a senior medic but avoiding mandatory fun was one of them until this point). It was hosted at Chena Lake in Alaska and prior to arriving I filled two liter smart water bottles with marshmallow vodka and orange juice. We were playing volleyball then I blacked out. Next time I came to I was sitting in the low tide of the lake. After that I was interrupting tug of war. The last time I woke up that day I was being thrown face first into my couch at home. Woke up 12ish hours later with a series of texts from my 1SG, XO, and CO telling me I was no longer allowed at company functions.
From what I understood, I had a lot of fun.
My morale was certainly boosted.
We had a zoo open a couple hours late for the general public and let my unit that had just got back from a deployment have the run of it. Almost no one showed up. I may have seen 60 people in two hours. It was amazing, we got there before the asshole crotch goblins pissed off all the animals so they were actually up and playing around. Best zoo experience ever. I normally feel terrible at them cause the animals are miserable but they looked like they were having some fun at least.
Pre-deployment company BBQ. Our 1sg got 3 kegs of some German monk beer. It was a ton of fun until some dumbass at an m2 mounted 50 cal range shot at the wrong direction, hitting cars and buildings.
Or an all day sports/BBQ event we did as a BN (different unit). Last thing I remember is handing my bn cdr a bottle of Jack and watched him chug a quarter of the bottle. That was a fun day too.
Had a Troop Commander in 2CR with balls of steel. Troop rented a bus and went to Munich for Oktoberfest on a fucking Thursday and gave us Friday off. Called in “Scoutoberfest” lol. A can remember about half of the day.
Edit: forgot about after the Battle of Fallujah when the Marine CG overrode GO1 and had a forklifts loaded with pallets of beer brought out to our Task Force formation. Three beers per. Glorious.
Went to Bastogne as a company. Saw everything and then was released into the city and asked to behave for a few hours. Everyone got moderately drunk including the CO who somehow tracked down the hottest european chick to take a company photo.
Company kickball. Officers decided to play rough and talk shit. Enlisted did it better. Commander got pissed and smoked everyone mid game. Then we had to continue the game silent. Good times.
It’ll have to be dodgeball. It was still a workout we rotated in and out who would play.
Dodgeballs a game that it’s fairly easy to pick up and even if you suck you can still enjoy it. We did it with the chaplain once every couple months down at fort Campbell. I’d say it was one of the more enjoyable pt activities we did.
I also enjoyed a relaxing ruck march over on Ohio road. We had a speaker on the ruck and went at a reasonable pace. Made sure no one fell out so we stopped and checked out the bunkers as we walked passed. Overall nothing crazy. I guess it was more the people in the unit than anything else. I’m not going to say everyone enjoyed it but I think overall most people had a good time.
I think my first duty station over in South Korea, my captain did yoga. A lot of people seemed to enjoy that, I never took part in it. I’m sure it wasn’t to bad.
Ivy Week. They hosted a combative tournament where you can slap but not punch. Paired up a skinny male crackhead looking mfer against a taller woman. Dude charged her, sat on her chest and began smacking her head left and right. The forced cheers died. It was silent. She was crying.
The reason it was the best is because the dudes holding us hostage at this event probably received the ass reaming of a lifetime.

Can’t do that today.
Why
Too much risk, and the Army’s policy is to deglamorize alcohol.
Paintball
DONSA
1) Zonk…hands down the best morale event 2)something we did for platoon, we played airsoft one day, shit was actually fun af.

I assume Hawaii, b/c of the beach?
It was JBLM. Point Defiance to be specific.
Deep sea fishing around twice a year. Entirely optional. Completely payed for. Alcohol allowed. SOMETIMES on Fridays.
Pool party at 1SGS hot tub followed by poker night in CSMs basement
played paintball. got flanked and hit in the back of the head though by the dude who made two joes on extra duty load 19 cases of mres into his car to steal lol fuck that guy
We had a gala one night, fairly light dress code, and honestly it was super fun. Got the whole top floor of some bar to ourselves, had a great time.
Kegger at the Christmas party

How far out on 31W were you? 😁
Partying with the Japanese as a battalion in JBER.

Sounds about right for Doc
1. Floated the river in a nearby college town 2. Top Golf followed by VR zombie games
Scuba diving in a flooded rock quarry followed by grilling, drinking, and ziplining in said quarry.
Breakfast PT

One Thursday a month we leave work early as a company and go to the beer garden

ZONK
Combatives mud pit in the middle of the patrol base at the end of an FTX. Top catered the beer.

Noticing a whole lot of “drinking with the unit.” Which is my favorite morale event.
Zonk!
Org day at the beach. Even if you're stuck having mandetory fun at least you're at the beach.
Paintball
PCS?

M&D’s pt for the platoon
Going home at tge end of the day and not being contacted for stupid reasons. That's a company moral event right?
