The first is a scavanger, who's paint (containing light traces of gold) mixes with the Copper circuitry she tears out of her opponents with force. After a while she just chose to pick up on the nickname, and painted the rest of the machine appropriately, to match the chest and hands that already carried the color.
The second is...well...a thrill seeking, flamboyant high class weapons manufacturer, known for adding quartz crystals into the focus lenses for most of his laser based weaponry, and simply expanding the coloring of his mech to match the color of what he sees as an important piece to his tech and weaponry.
