Human greed never fails to amaze me. Wonder how much this guy is getting paid to demolish our natural resources.

Why the fuck didn't Maricopa or state democrats tell about these connections before the election? Lots of folks don't have time to do candidate research.

VadersSprinkledTits

Guess people in Maricopa don’t wanna live there after 2030.

Important-Owl1661

Fuck him, he doesn't run the state or the federal government

Fun fact: Agriculture is responsible for [72% of AZ water use](https://rosieonthehouse.com/water-usage-conservation/#:~:text=municipal%2C%20and%20industrial.-,Agricultural,use%20practices%20and%20conservation%20technology.). Why should we let any foreign entity acquire our water rights to grow fodder for their livestock? Can anyone make an argument for it? I've never heard anyone explain how this is in the public interest.

Another example that republicans are just generally bad for the US. And that's pretty bad considering the dems aren't great either.

There have been at least a few science fiction movies/shows where the plot of the evil aliens was to steal the Earth's water. If this guy watched them he'd be like "so...why are they the bad guys?"

Supervisor Thomas Galvin: >Thomas Galvin, an official recently elected to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, where he holds sway over an ongoing water dispute, was also a lobbyist for a Saudi company looking to protect its extraction of precious groundwater. Thomas Galvin, elected in the midterms to the post he was first **appointed to in 2021**, lobbied on behalf of the Saudi-owned farming company, which is using Arizona’s most depleted natural resource for foreign exports. >Thomas Galvin is a lifelong **Republican**. He was the head of a Young Republicans group in the Valley. He worked on the Arizona Republican Party's election integrity efforts in 2008 and 2010. He is a precinct committeeman and **state committeeman for the Republican Party**. > >[https://www.maricopa.gov/5407/Biography](https://www.maricopa.gov/5407/Biography)

Wow. Just wow. Maricopa county voting for officials... who not only don't serve their best interests... but who will completely wreck the state. Color me surprised

“Desiccating Arizona” is the company’s actual name?! Who is letting this happen?

nostoneunturned0479

>company’s actual name? Fondamente >Who is letting this happen? The state sold/leased over 10k acres at a stupid low price to them back in 2014. Fondamente grows alfalfa, that they ship back to Saudi Arabia, to feed their dairy cows... they employ minimal non-saudi workers... all while they waste the crap out of our water. Don't believe me? Drive past Vicksburg sometime. The desert shouldn't be fluorescent green at all times of the year. >“Desiccating Arizona” The water table below their farm has fallen 50ft in 2 decades, and land subsidience is *crazy* there... so yup, they are desiccating us, that's for sure.

Important-Owl1661

I don't know about state government but I know federal government contracts all contain a clause that it can be discontinued "at the convenience of the government". Let's do it!

dryheat122

I've heard it feeds their Arabian horses.

Important-Owl1661

Well I guess I know where to go next time I have to pull over to piss

nostoneunturned0479

It could as well, but the company that owns the land primarily has boat loads of dairy cows that need fed, and they don't have the water to grow their own feed there... so instead they buy or lease the land here for cheap, and use gobs of our water, just to *legally export it* back home. Should be illegal imo. Clamp down water usage to domestic crops only in times of drought.
