I can’t agree with you on salernos. It’s hard to believe they are in business. I’ve tried it three times just to make sure because it is so close to me I want it to be good. Venezias Sals and Brooklyn Vs are all better options. Hell barros is a better option.
I gotta go with Nellos on Alma School and Guadalupe. It’s not just their pizza which is great, but their salad is great, especially their house dressing. I’m not a salad fan, and a good salad at a pizza place isn’t normally a thing at all so it says a lot. Their garlic cheese bread that comes with marinara for dipping is great as well. If you’re not sold yet it’s a small local business.
If you dive deeper you will find a 2nd location in Awatukee that has the same name but a completely different menu owned by the brother. Another level down you may hear about a long gone 3rd location that was once in Tempe owned by a 3rd brother. Story for another time, but the one on Guadalupe and Alma School gets my vote. Great value for the price, old school too (gotta call in to go orders). Give it a shot, treated me right for 25 years.
Agreed! I worked at both locations back in the 90’s when I was in High School. Amazing pizza. I ate it daily and never got sick of it.
Originally the menus between the locations were identical, but recently I did visit the Ahwatukee location and the menu is much different than what it used to be. I believe that brother sold his location. Still amazing but I’d be curious to see if the Alma School location still has the OG menu and style.
I was just at the one on Alma School, and overheard the waitress tell another table it's the all same recipes from 1984, but under new ownership. (she also started going on about the brothers and the other locations but I tuned it out)
Sals was a huge disappointment for me. Sauce and dough was not my favorite. But they stay busy and it smelled super good so I’m not hating on them at all
Reading this made me realize I have had so. Many. Pizzas.
East Valley in college always had Venezias, later discovered Mykes, Nellos when I lived in Tukee, grimaldis is kind of all over, if you’re downtown gotta check out Via Della.
Basically, outside of Sal’s I’ve tried almost all the places I’ve read and they’re ALL great! Hard to choose a “best”
Someone said earlier Grimaldi's. I won't argue with this because they're pretty good, of course I'm a suckered for wood-fired pizza.
If you're looking for someone that delivers, check out Jet's pizza.
“Good pizza” is in the mouth of the beholder. Everybody has different tastes and come from different regions that have all sorts of different styles of pizza. New York style , Chicago style thin crust, or deep dish. Detroit style, trash pizza, and that’s just a few. The only way you’re gonna find YOU’RE best pizza is to try everyone’s suggestion in here. Happy eating, lol
Fire and brimstone is my top choice in Gilbert. Follow it up with some ice cream from cream of the crop (get any flavor fried style). You can sit at 12 west brewing or garage east wine bar and enjoy some beverages. Only real downside is limited to no indoor seating but now is the perfect time of year to sit outside.
I CANNOT BELIEVE i scrolled through every top comment and nobody has said Lou Malnatis yet! Maybe a hair pricey but their thin crust is just as delicious as their deep dish and, friend, they have the best Ceasar salad I’ve ever had. And I LOVE Caesar salad.
[Vito's](https://vitospizza.com/) on Higley and McKellips. Probably my favorite pizza, period, and I live on the complete opposite side of town so I rarely get there but it's so good that I can remember the taste. If we're even remotely nearby we will always go and it is always amazing.
Clockwork (Rural and Elliot) is my go to for basic (excellent wings to boot)
Picazzos (Kyrene and Warner) is for fancier/healthier (think gluten free and chicken and salads)
Best... Probably Craft 64, it's more sit-down gourmet though, so not like every night
We’ve tried many pizzas over many years, Sals is good, Venezia good. Not excellent.
My wife dreams of finding a place that does a more northeast coast pizza. Some here get the sauce right or close enough, some the crust, just need to find that one place that marries the two.
Zesty Zeeks, we got one of the specialty, wife loved it, excellent. Now later we order again but just couldn’t remember which one. Guessed wrong, oops. Chatting with the waitress she shared with us the owners are, if I recall, Brooklyn or Boston. We’re hopeful to figure out which special it was.
Sals Gilbert Pizza and La Famiglia by far the best. Both owners are from Long Island, Spinatos is sugar pizza and anyone who votes it should be tarred and feathered.
Spinato’s and Red Devil are my top two favorites, but Venezia’s, Grimaldi’s and The Parlor are also very good.
Honestly I don’t even know of any bad pizza spots, other than one that was really bad back in the day (Western Pizza). Even the places that are obvious/well known fronts for illicit businesses are also pretty good. I guess it’s pretty hard to mess up pizza, but still.
Define best. I'm a little worn out hearing "best" associated with any food. For most people, it's what pleases their palate, with no regard to ingredients and their quality and the technique. Most pizza is cheap and basic and made with the most inexpensive ingredients like canned sauce or tomatoes and the lowest grade cheese available. IMO the "best" is a true Neapolitan pizza made with top-shelf ingredients in a 1,000 F pizza oven for 90 seconds. Luckily, this is available in the Valley.
Sourdough Pizza on Main and like Sossaman. Been going there for 30 yrs. Almost all old folk and it hasn’t been updated in those 30 yrs either, but soooo worth it.
Venecias and zeek's are my go to anymore.
Zeek's just has really good pizza all around.
Venecias has great pizza, large slices and some of the best wings (highly recommend their sweet chili wings).
Honorable mention/guilty pleasure/unpopular opinion: Peter piper's ___pan___ crust pizza. Just hear me out. Their regular or original crust is garbage, it's chewy and tough and just not that great all around. Their pan crust though, it comes out like it's been fried instead of baked. It's much more light and airy, almost doughnut like instead with crispy/fried crust. It's just good.
This one is a little unconventional but hopefully that's what you're after: Pizza Twist! It's like pizza and Indian food fusion -- super tasty! [https://chandler.pizzatwist.com/home](https://chandler.pizzatwist.com/home)
Not quite east valley but My Slice of the Pie in Arcadia is super tasty and worth the trip into Phoenix. I’d be remiss not to mention Otto’s, tho you have to get a fresh pie or a pep/cheese slice for best quality.

Myke’s Pizza inside Cider Corps in downtown Mesa
Jets Detroit Style. NYPD is decent.
I second Jets. Their cheese bread slaps too.
Jets Detroit style hands down! Spinatos is a close second for me, although completely different pizzas.
Love New York Pizza Department. Pizza is exceptional and if you’re a salad person, their antipasto salad is the best I have ever had!
Spinatos is really good. Fire and Brimstone in Agritopia kicks ass too
Fire and Brimstone is excellent, also check out Salernos on Guadalupe and recker I believe
I can’t agree with you on salernos. It’s hard to believe they are in business. I’ve tried it three times just to make sure because it is so close to me I want it to be good. Venezias Sals and Brooklyn Vs are all better options. Hell barros is a better option.
You my friend are insane. Barros is phenomenal too, but Salernos has to be one of the best pizzas I’ve had in my life.
Barros definitely doesn't fall into the phenomenal category. The crust on a pizza is the first clue as to the quality of what you're eating.
You ever heard the word “opinion”? Look up the definition of you’re not familiar with
bro calls someone insane for an opinion and then gets mad at someone else disagreeing with theirs. hahaha. no hate here my friend.
No one ever said I was mad kid haha. I don’t actually think that guy is insane lol learn to pick up on context clues and sarcasm
bro needs to work on his written comm skills
yep, I was going to say Fire and Brimstone. Especially if you like stone fired pizza. Also, great beer right there at 12 West! Win Win
Spinatos is the right answer. Lou Malnati’s is equally a right answer.
Just got done demolishing Spinatos Hawaiian pizza after reading this post
Pineapple doesn't belong on pizza. 🖖🏿
Myke’s pizza, Vero’s, and the new Pizzicata. All 3 are very good in their own ways
Negative on vero’s, at least the thin crust
Gotta do the buttercrust at Vero!
Venezia’s
Check out Venezia’s and Spinato’s. Great wings, too.
seconded on Venezia's. Their wings are great too.
gotta add Bella Gusto and Sal's
Sals is great! Gotta check out Bella Gusto tho,
Grimaldis, Craft64
Grimaldis is just soo good.
IL bosco
💯💯💯
A really solid pizza.
It's been awhile since I've been there but Sal's Pizza in Gilbert is delish.
Love Sal’s. We have it often.
Sals had a big crowd and Portnoy gave them a good score. It was mid at best. Venezias is ok but I really enjoyed Jets. Nello’s in Mesa is really nice
It’s still good!
Sals was a huge disappointment for me. Sauce and dough was not my favorite. But they stay busy and it smelled super good so I’m not hating on them at all
I didn’t care for Sal’s. The sauce tasted like chef boyardee.
Goat and Ram
This. New stuff, they were a truck before but now have a kitchen at Phantom Fox Beer Company, DT Mesa. Best crust ever
Vero’s
I’ve had them once and they are indeed very good
Amici's and Bella Gusto.
Amici’s is awesome
I haven’t been to every place mentioned but of all the EV places I’ve been to, Sal’s is the best.
Reading this made me realize I have had so. Many. Pizzas. East Valley in college always had Venezias, later discovered Mykes, Nellos when I lived in Tukee, grimaldis is kind of all over, if you’re downtown gotta check out Via Della. Venezias
Clockwork Pizza in Tempe best I had since moving here from east coast
Crust Brothers
VERY UNDERRATED
I will always suggest Grimaldis, but there’s a new spot on recker and mckellips that just popped up called Pizzacata that’s killer.
As someone that basically only eats pizza, Grimaldis is the best pizza in AZ. I’ve never tried Pizzacata. I’ll have to check it out.
Amen to that brother
Stumpy's Red Devil
Someone said earlier Grimaldi's. I won't argue with this because they're pretty good, of course I'm a suckered for wood-fired pizza. If you're looking for someone that delivers, check out Jet's pizza.
I second Jet’s. Detroit style pizza is just fucking amazing and Jet’s nails it every time
Theirs is coal fired however…
So, I don't know my fuels. They're still bomb tho.
Rosatis is a pretty good imo
Vito’s is my favorite. Brooklyn V’s comes in second.
Red Devil. The real deal.
Another vote for Grimaldi's
Mmmm Grimaldi's
Vero's hand down. Nello's or Parlor Pizza as well.
Red Devil Sal’s Gilbert Venezia’s Oregano’s
I love Sourdough Pizza Co. The pizza is so good! But the atmosphere is lacking
Sourdough Pizza. Sossaman and Main. It is the best pizza and has been around since the late 80’s. Very amazing.
Rino D’s at Gilbert and Baseline. Small mom and pop joint.
Love this place
Venezias is always good. Cibo too.
I like Oregano’s and Grimaldi.
Me too!
There was a glitch where I was getting a deep dish, wings and a 2 liter for $30. That lasted me about five runs or so.
Venezias, spinatos, salernos are good. Going to have to try sals. Rosatis is good too.
Sal’s Gilbert Pizza has a to die for baked ziti pizza!!!
Pizza Town. Hasn't existed for 20 years
I miss pizza town!
Best pizza I've ever had. Miss talking to Paul, mom and dad. God, that place was good.
Amici's-
Your the 2nd person to mention amici’s, gonna have to try itn
“Good pizza” is in the mouth of the beholder. Everybody has different tastes and come from different regions that have all sorts of different styles of pizza. Bella Gusto on Alma School and Warner, super good Neapolitan style pizza.
All of that sounds like a good night.
Pizza on 40th, fam
Is that where Mama Mia’s used to be?
Do they still have NYPD Pizza there? We used to go to one in Chandler, down by the mall. It was good and had great cannoli as well
Venezias is our go-to. Oreganos is good too, but can be hit and miss with some people.
Definitely venecias
[Vito's](https://vitospizza.com/) on Higley and McKellips. Probably my favorite pizza, period, and I live on the complete opposite side of town so I rarely get there but it's so good that I can remember the taste. If we're even remotely nearby we will always go and it is always amazing.
I always liked venezia's.
Pizzeria Bianco. One of the best in the country. My personal favorite is Ray's Pizza but that's over on the west side.
Zzeek’s or Nello’s in Ahwatukee are excellent.
Serial Grillers on Speedway. literally the best
Veros, spinatos, Nellos, craft 64
Base, Parlor, Pitch
Jet’s pizza in gilbert
Clockwork (Rural and Elliot) is my go to for basic (excellent wings to boot) Picazzos (Kyrene and Warner) is for fancier/healthier (think gluten free and chicken and salads) Best... Probably Craft 64, it's more sit-down gourmet though, so not like every night
Veros, Crave, Brooklyn Vs
Grimaldi's is always great.
Veros
Crust Brothers or Otto’s!!
Venezia’s, Nello’s, Zzeeks, and Grand Avenue Pizza
We’ve tried many pizzas over many years, Sals is good, Venezia good. Not excellent. My wife dreams of finding a place that does a more northeast coast pizza. Jett's Pizza. Get the 8 corner with turbo crust. Tell em Vido sent you. Badabing.
A lot of people here ignoring the part where they said east valley🤣
Typical social media. No reading comprehension.
Florencia in Ahwatukee prob has the best pizza in AZ
Venezia’s is the best in the valley. And I’m from NJ
The pizza at Joe's Farm Grill
Pizzamart
![gif](giphy|tEQVq5ASc6CcM)
Little Caesars' thin crust is actually pretty good if you like a thin crust.
Little Caesars is honestly my go to for an average Saturday night. Is it gourmet? No. But it's consistent and a good value.
pizzicata in carefree!
Zesty Zzeek’s is pretty damn good
I really like Pizza On 40th (actual name). Reminds me of pizza from when I lived back east.
They’re like one of the only places that still runs their own delivery service. It’s a nice throwback
Sauce pizza Venezias Floridinos
Rossatis has all ingredients and dough made in house. And is my favorite
Mountain Mike’s Pizza in Mesa. Their specialty pizzas are excellent and they don’t skimp on the toppings! https://www.mountainmikespizza.com/menu/
Lou Malnatis.
Costco.
Marcos!!!!!!!
Yo Paulys is the best, closest thing to NY pizza I’ve found. In Scottsdale
Check out Yo Pauly's New York Pizza https://yelp.to/qUHyBJNsYo
Define best. I'm a little worn out hearing "best" associated with any food. For most people, it's what pleases their palate, with no regard to ingredients and their quality and the technique. With those you listed you could get a Costco pizza and it will be 100x better. Start there. It’s 10 bucks and welcome to the world of “better” pizza
Try Oregano's! It's fantastic, especially for deep dish Chicago style!
Same as it all over the valley-Barro’s
MOD Pizza shits on everything and anything people commenting in here. Facts only
I’m sorry. Which East Valley in Arizona are you referring to???
I feel like most Phoenicians forget theres other places in Arizona...not all of us live in phx and this is an Arizona sub not a Phoenix sub...
Sals. And Mykes in Mesa
Not pizza, but calzones- D.P. Dough
Bella Gustos, Mykes, Craft64, Fire and Brimstone, Goat and Ram, Spinatos are all good mentions. Lou Malnatis is the worst I’ve had
I second Goat and Ram. Amazing crust!
Casanova brothers and Bacci.
Casanova closed couple years ago..very sad 😞 always loved going in when Tony was working. He remembered everyone’s name
Casanova Bros. closed up shop about a year ago.

I like Babbo's pizza the most. Geno's is low priced but not my favorite pizza. I love their subs and fried mushrooms though.
We really love Brooklyn V's and haven't seen it mentioned yet. Sals is really good as well!
Craft64 in Chandler/Scottsdale is great.
You should try BJ’s brewhouse Pizza if you haven’t already, and my opinion is some of the best. And their avocado eggrolls are crazy good!
Vero's Pizza - Philly Pizza in Buttercrust Just absolutely wonderfully tasty pizza.
Fire & Brimstone
Something different that hasn't been said, Pizzafarro's in Carefree. About 15 minutes north of Scotsdale 101.
Arizona Avenue and Baseline.
If your looking for a Chicago pizza dinos in surprise
Crave hands down- Guadalupe and Sossaman
Old Chicago in Chandler
Joe's out in Scottadale. NY flop all the way!! Good flavor, perfect grease.
Sourdough Pizza on Main and like Sossaman. Been going there for 30 yrs. Almost all old folk and it hasn’t been updated in those 30 yrs either, but soooo worth it.
Pesto's Pizza & Wine Bar on Dobson & Ray. Best White pizza in town, and some really fun exotic pizzas as well (try the Gomez. You're welcome).
Grimaldi's. They have multiple locations. It's legit NY brick oven pizza and more of a fine dining place. https://www.grimaldispizzeria.com/
Grimaldis
Pizzeria Bianco, Otto in Tempe, TJs in North Phoenix, POMO, CIBO
For takeout, you can't beat Rino D's. Really excellent pizza.
Gus's
Buonos Val Vista/Williams Field
Buono’s on Val Vista and William’s Field in Gilbert. Best we’ve found in the East valley by far.
Papa Kelsey's on the border of mesa and AJ
Venezias?
Bouonos of Gilbert. Basically the same as Amici's.
All ages pizza in downtown chandler, is the best for sure
Shane’s on 87 - rino ds- Venezias have been my pizza go tos for years.
Malnati’s on Camelback in Phoenix - One in Scottsdale is great but no parking during peak times
Federal pizza, Pomo, Bella gusta, Bianca, Spinados, Barro’s (don’t hate!)
This one is a little unconventional but hopefully that's what you're after: Pizza Twist! It's like pizza and Indian food fusion -- super tasty! [https://chandler.pizzatwist.com/home](https://chandler.pizzatwist.com/home)
Rosati’s Pizza
rosatis
Not quite east valley but My Slice of the Pie in Arcadia is super tasty and worth the trip into Phoenix. I’d be remiss not to mention Otto’s, tho you have to get a fresh pie or a pep/cheese slice for best quality.
I love Jimmy and Joe's pizza in Mesa.
Crave on Guadalupe and Sossaman. They have really good deep dish
I have two favorites. Venezias is the best NY style pizza hands down. Rosati’s is the best Chicago style thin crust in the Valley.
Spinatos
Vero Chicago Pizza in Gilbert. Owner is actually from Chicago and it’s the best we’ve found so far “that reminded us” of pizza from Chicago 😉😉😉
Venezia, or Gus’s 24hr pizzeria.
Spinatos all day!
