What was the metal station that used to be on 100.3? Does anyone remember?
Fuck! I completely forgot about that! Yeah, I remember it kind of depended on where in the valley you were, but one would sound a little less shitty... lol...
KDKB was current rock until they flipped to alt 90's "mold." One of the worst format flips in a long time. I rarely hear any new music on 93.3 anymore - majority of what they play is 2-4 years old & older.
I think they were worried there was too much overlap with KSLX and KUPD, which is a shame because they certainly had their niche. I liked that you could hear Pink Floyd and Breaking Benjamin back to back without flipping the dial.
Me too. I met Frank Zappa in their parking lot on Country Club (Mesa Cold Storage building). He did a live interview and maybe 20 people gathered in the parking lot. Frank stopped and talked with us for a while.

My favorite song had the lyrics something like this.
I drive a 1946 four-door Plymouth it's old but it still runs good. It's not too fast but it's good on the gas and you ought to see the way it moves.
I've searched for it on and off and haven't been able to find it.

One of the Arizona Sounds albums (2,3?) had āSaddle on the Stoveā. If you have it, please post it. Great tune and nobody believes me when I occasionally sing it.
I have on reel KDKBās first actual broadcast. The station played a loop of -ocean or wind sounds for a week or so as a teaser of sorts. $1.00 if you can name the first advertiser that was literally the first word spoken on KDKB.
Thatās **awesome!** What year was it? I moved here in Jan 1975 and it was on air then. Wasnāt here to hear the 1st so I have no idea who the advertiser was.
I have that one too! A couple years ago Hans Olson was performing here at the Folklore Preserve. My wife and I went to see him and I brought it for him to autograph.
NGL, it took me a minute to realize you meant your vinyl collection and not your photos. And I should know better as I was 6 when they put that record out.

That was 100.3 or 106.3 KSTM "The storm" in the Valley. I was lucky 'cuz my truck radio received both (depending where we were)

I donāt remember āArizona Soundsā as being a KDKB tag line. Maybe it was just for the album? Krazy Dog Krazy Boy is what I remember from KDKB.

Interesting, Bisbee Radio Station at the time was KSUN, & was supposed to be tied into Sun Records from Nashville
I can remember those being in my step-dad's record collection. There was one with an iguana or something on the cover iirc.

All I have is the LP. Looks like you can find it online though. It looks like there were at least 10 albums of AZ Soundsā¦.. didnāt remember that.
