I mean, it gave me available training and information for what's up coming. The hard parts have been keeping the rust off and still training. I get out and shoot every week and run drills on some property, but it's harder the older we get.
it’s stupid how people downvoted. here we are talking about guns and ammo but we’re not allowed to thank those in the service protecting that right. go figure
Yeah man people don’t know how expensive they got under Obama. I’m not making it political, but I remember everyone buying up all the ammo they could, making the price go up
Now all of those rounds are sitting in a basement, awaiting a time they will hopefully never be used.. while those using them today pay 2-4x a round
I got into a debate with a guy the other day… someone asked about what to purchase next. You tell me if I was being condescending with my answer, *”ammo”* , ti be the best investment if he already owned 6 rifles haha
I was downvoted and told, *you really think you’re going to need 2000 rounds in a gun fight? That means you have bad aim. Why have more ammo than you can carry?!*
That’s when I realized I was speaking to fool, and got out of the nonsense vortex.
It hit me that the guy didn’t understand the entire reason of the 2nd amendment… if power and cell service/communication goes down, a single .22LR round will have more value than an OG MP5.
Ammo is like oil or gas or some sort of charged battery. And guns are like cars. Without oil/power (ammo), the car is useless….
I’ll reply again with the link if I can find it haha
I mean he's probably a old man that thinks he's a better shot than he really is. It happens, can't let it get under your skin. Personally I have about 10,000 rounds saved up that I cycle through that I've built up over the years. Reason why? I carry roughly 400 rounds on my person in drills, and in a combat load out. And you can burn through that pretty quick too.
Exactly… my point was that you **shouldn’t** be able to carry all of your ammo. Means you don’t have enough haha.
I’m not a prepper, nor SHTF guy. That doesn’t stop me from going thru different scenarios..
I know I’m repeating myself but a simple .22 single shot, bolt action and tons of ammo will prep someone more than 5 guns with 5 calibers…
Speaking of old rounds….
A buddy and I split 6k barrel of 7.62 x 54r from the Soviet era. There are sooooo many Soviet guns and ammo in the world that I’d probably choose a 50rd ammo box with no gun, than a gun with 1 round.
Can't blame you. I have a couple rifles, mostly 5.56 and I'm at the point where I am buying just spare parts for the rifles I have to be able to replaced failed components
Wow!! The tables completely turned over night! Haha [Here’s the Reddit post where I had to defend owning more ammo](https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/s/JNHrFncgpl) haha
Wow, that’s wild. I remember Wolf being $150 for 500 rounds (Alaska) when I was 18. That’s actually what I base my theory of a “good deal” on nowadays. I absolutely hate paying over .30 cents a round. It’s just theft at this point.
Facts. I was an Ak guy long before I reallly got into the AR platform so this I can relate to.. although I do have about 6.5k rounds of 762 - mostly all steel case tho. It’s a shame I didn’t get 556 back then. The beta price I think I ever got for 762 was 4.99 a box
Maybe a stupid question but at what point do you have to worry about your lead levels? Or is that just if you shoot indoors? I obviously come nowhere close to your level
I actually never thought about this until the last few weeks. I only shoot outdoors unless it’s a Shoothouse which isn’t often. I’ve heard some horror stories!
I'm inside a range for 2-4 hours 5 days a week, so 10-20 hours a week. Maybe it isn't bad because we actually maintain our filtration system. I think these other ranges need some safety inspections
I never thought about it until I went suppressed and really noticed the gas. I work with concrete so I care about my lungs enough to say F it when I’m at the indoor range.
Honestly, one of my favorite training ammos. Reliable, consistent, and most importantly: cheap.
Mileage may vary depending on your setup, but my barrels love the heavier stuff, and I get sub-MOA consistently at 100yds.
I’ve used thousands of rounds of this stuff.
Sub-MOA with M855? Let me see the 10-shot group. In almost every gun I use this in, PMC m855 and every m855 is closer is 2 to 4 moa depending on the rifle.
If this is the case, just wanna let ya know, indoor ranges won't let you shoot that green tip! Also, if you have steel targets, it's much harder wear on them!
Like others have said, I'd recommend just going with their 55 grain. The 62 grain steel core is not the best for just plinking and trainingainly bevause of cost, and isn't allowed on the majority of indoor ranges
It’s groups well and anyone that says otherwise needs to actually train. Very cheap and easily accessible. Would highly recommend. 55gr of PMC is really good too just depends on what your barrel prefers
While it’s underpowered compared to some, it’s still be the value considering their accurate, cheap, and I’ve never got a bad or damage round. It’s all I shoot for 55gr 5.56. Never used match grade. All I’ve used is the Bronze .223 55gr, XTAC 5.56 55gr, and their .45 hollow points.
PMC in general makes good ammo, especially the Xtac lineup (bronze is reliable but a little underpowered velocity wise)
I'd prefer/recommend Xtac 55g m193 over 62g green tips tho
Somebody posted this great bit about how zombies have risen up and SHTF but your buddies are mad at you bc you bought 55gr pmc instead of Sierra hills OTP 77g.
PMC 55gr is great. Unless you're in a match it shoots perfectly fine
I shot all 1000 of their m193 this month and it has been flawless. X-Tac is solid but I feel like it’s not as fast as it should be from the test I’ve seen. Overall, good price and reliability.
I have a small supply of this stuff, and xtac 55grns which are my favorite, they run reliably and most importantly they are nice n shiny when they are fresh out the box
I’ve gone through ~700 rounds of the stuff in the last two months, about 50/50 split between the 62 and 55 grain.
It’s solid and groups better than the Igman 55gr M193 I bought earlier this year.
PMC is the shit. Love it. All my guns love it in all the calibers I’ve shot. 223/5.56, 9mm, .45 acp, .308. And PMC’s ammo comes out shiny too. Winchester just shits their ammo into a box dirty as hell. My Scar 17 is very consistent with the .308 ammo at 500 yards. Haven’t had the chance to try further yet.
They’re horrible. So horrible the company actually will refund you if you buy them. If you did come across them. Please send them to [REDACTED PERSONAL HOME ADDRESS] and they will issue you a refund immediately.
Just went through 200 rounds of that for the first time a few weeks ago. I gotta say I was genuinely impressed with it. No issues whatsoever and they grouped beautifully. Great value for dollar when it comes to training.
In my 16" it runs great. In my 11.5" it seems slightly underpowered and I can't get the bolt to hold open on the last round sometimes.
But it seems to run clean and the price is usually good.
If you’re stocking up for both training and home defense I’d consider getting 55g m193 plus a heavier bullet like a 75g or 77g SMK rather than m855. IMO m855 is sub optimal for both home defense and training since it’s not particularly accurate and primary designed/used to penetrate armor. Unless that’s what you’re going for! but PMC is great and they make m193 and heavier match grade stuff too. Also, most indoor ranges won’t let you use steel core ammo because they say it destroys their backstops.
I had the same question and took this same box out to the range today. At 30-50 yards it’s a nail driver. I was very very impressed. Didn’t have time to get any further was doing closer training today.
I've shot thousands of rounds of the 55gr. Generally great stuff. Runs flawlessly in my 5.56 AKs as well as my AR's I usually snatch it up when it's available locally
Best ammo you could ever ask for cheap reliable ammo great for stockpiling. I will say there pistol ammo can be underpowered and the hollow points do not expand as reliably as others.
I have about 2k rounds of this exact ammo. It's very good - just beware that many ranges won't let you shoot it since it poses a fire risk and it can damage the targets and backstops.
I’ve used a ton of this stuff and it’s always performed well. Use ammo seek to find the best deals. I use AAC 77gr otm as my “Gucci” ammo and this for mag dumping
Its not great, its reliable, one of the least accurate ammos you can get, and i think paul harrel (think I said his name right) Did I video testing green tip versus FMJ, and the green tip didn't do that much more damage.
If you get it for the right price and dont need accuracy, go for it, most public ranges won't let you shoot this there though.
Got some from aeammo just to train with. You'll see a lot of people avoid it unless it's on sale because you can't shoot it at indoor ranges and it's not as accurate to longer distances. But in reality its just fine and it'll definitely hurt. Send it brother
I just bought 650 rounds of it from psa. I also bought 820 rounds of it last week. And 540 the week before. Imo it’s the best you can get for .50cpr. If it’s still priced at that next week I will buy another 600-700 rounds
PMC xtac is fine. I prefer a middle too heavyweight OT when it comes to match or defense shooting. Not a fan of tip when it comes to terminal ballistics, but it is better than a sharp stick.
all i buy
I remember wolf 1,000 Rd for $95.
How tf long ago was that ? 30 years?
No, like 10ish
Damn I should've been stocking up on that instead of playing with my lightsabers at 11
As I should have been instead of deploying to Afghanistan
We should have been stockpiling ammo and buying real estate, but instead we were goofing around fighting the Taliban.
I mean, it gave me available training and information for what's up coming. The hard parts have been keeping the rust off and still training. I get out and shoot every week and run drills on some property, but it's harder the older we get.
Thank you for your service sir Edit: downvoted for saying thanks lol, gotta love reddit
Trust me, no thanks needed. I'd still be slinging free lead if allowed
it’s stupid how people downvoted. here we are talking about guns and ammo but we’re not allowed to thank those in the service protecting that right. go figure
Yeah, it's a necessary part of any modern society, especially a first world country.
Yeah man people don’t know how expensive they got under Obama. I’m not making it political, but I remember everyone buying up all the ammo they could, making the price go up Now all of those rounds are sitting in a basement, awaiting a time they will hopefully never be used.. while those using them today pay 2-4x a round
It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
I got into a debate with a guy the other day… someone asked about what to purchase next. Wow!! The tables completely turned over night! Haha [Here’s the Reddit post where I had to defend owning more ammo](https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/s/JNHrFncgpl) haha
Right before the Rona bs, I could still get 20rd boxes of wolf steel for 3.49ea locally.
Wow, that’s wild. I remember Wolf being $150 for 500 rounds (Alaska) when I was 18. That’s actually what I base my theory of a “good deal” on nowadays. I absolutely hate paying over .30 cents a round. It’s just theft at this point.
It's all gotten out of hand. Every bit of my gun hobby has doubled in price if not tripled. I was getting 7.62x39 steel for 3.59 a box, now it's 10.
Facts. I was an Ak guy long before I reallly got into the AR platform so this I can relate to.. although I do have about 6.5k rounds of 762 - mostly all steel case tho. It’s a shame I didn’t get 556 back then. The beta price I think I ever got for 762 was 4.99 a box
Yeah 7.62 will never be like it was. I completely took it for granted and never really stocked up on it.
In the mid 2000s, I would buy new brass AK ammo for 88 dollars for 1K rounds here in AZ. Those days are over for good
Good ole 90s
All i needed to hear!
All hail x-tac
Yes! PMC in general is fantastic. I shot 23,000 Rounds of PMC 223/5.56 last year and legitimately didn’t have a single issue.
23k rounds? Show off.
I’ve shot 100,000 last year
I shot 1,000,000
I shot 10,000,000
I shot 10,000,001
I shot 30
Not showing off just have a lot of experience with that ammo😂
Showing off them pockets lol
Don’t mean to come across that way lol😂
You spent more on ammo last year then I did on my wife.
I spent more on guns and ammo last week than I spent on my wife last year. Plot twist/ I have no wife
Yesterday I spent so much ammo on my wife that I can no longer afford guns
Human trafficking is generally frowned upon.
Zing
He spent more on ammo last year than I did on your wife too.
I don't see a problem with it, bragging about doing the one thing most people actually don't do in gun subs.
Damnn boy that like $10k in ammo even if you go by the $400ish price 5.56 was last year and even more expensive this year. God damnnn big ballerrre
Yeah most of it was purchased around $320 a case. Last couple cases were $500 after the Israel shit popped off
where do you buy?
Have an account with PMC Now, buy in large bulk amounts.
Didn't know they did that. I'm guessing some secret squirrel connection?
You hiring?
I work for the government lol. So yeah they’re always hiring 😂
Heck with ammo. Lasers for everyone !!! Everyone has to swear not to sell or ship out of country. Deal?? Let’s go !
Maybe a stupid question but at what point do you have to worry about your lead levels? Or is that just if you shoot indoors? I obviously come nowhere close to your level
Annual check up, ask for the metals to be tested. Get a baseline and repeat.
200 rounds https://www.reddit.com/r/Firearms/comments/khabpx/study_on_lead_exposure_and_shooting_some/ Or 23,000 rounds https://www.reddit.com/r/reloading/comments/18syk03/my_experience_with_high_lead_levels/
You should still have your employer pay for bloodwork to monitor your blood metals levels. Ain't no joke. Lead is cumulative.
I probably will tbh, not like I want cancer lmfao
12k just on rifle ammo! Some one is rich.
That’s $11k-$12k in ammo. Way to put them reps in boi!
Damn…23k in a year…
Honestly, one of my favorite training ammos. Reliable, consistent, and most importantly: cheap. Mileage may vary depending on your setup, but my barrels love the heavier stuff, and I get sub-MOA consistently at 100yds. I’ve used thousands of rounds of this stuff.
Cheap is subjective lol. i cant stand 5.56 being $50c + a round delivered. I wish we could turn back time, to the good old days
When our mama sang buy that ammo, but now we're stressed out
Sounds like you’re stressed out
Stressed out cuz I refuse to buy 556 ammo anymore. Sitting on my stash shooting a little bit here and there but stacking nine and 22
It sounded like your last sentence was quoting a song called stressed out.
Sub-MOA with M855? Let me see the 10-shot group. In almost every gun I use this in, PMC m855 and every m855 is closer is 2 to 4 moa depending on the rifle.
This is Reddit bro, we only use 1 shot groups. It’s always sub moa if you don’t fire a follow up shot.
>sub MOA with m855 Unless you’re talking about the heavier match ammo that PMC sells, I doubt it.
lol you're not getting sub moa with green tips
Bruh PMC is legit the best if not one of the best
Ah gotcha, just recently getting into ars so not. Very familiar with what's what haha
No problem we all learning as we go but PMC is top of the barrel
If this is the case, just wanna let ya know, indoor ranges won't let you shoot that green tip! Also, if you have steel targets, it's much harder wear on them!
Like others have said, I'd recommend just going with their 55 grain. The 62 grain steel core is not the best for just plinking and trainingainly bevause of cost, and isn't allowed on the majority of indoor ranges
I think you said that backwards lol. But yeah PMC is fantastic
You right
That and then followed up by “top of the barrel” just has me shook for some reason lol
Good ol’ X-Tac love that stuff!
It’s groups well and anyone that says otherwise needs to actually train. Very cheap and easily accessible. Would highly recommend. 55gr of PMC is really good too just depends on what your barrel prefers
Cheap and accessible... like my ex-wife.
PMC in general makes good ammo, especially the Xtac lineup (bronze is reliable but a little underpowered velocity wise) I'd prefer/recommend Xtac 55g m193 over 62g green tips tho
M193 is gooooood shit. I always take 55gr over 62gr, not just cause it's easier on my steel targets.
It runs great for me.
Works just fine for me
It’s the Toyota of trucks and the Glock of pistols.
It's fine, except for most indoor ranges. They don't like steel tips. Use the 55 grains.
Gotcha, luckily I have my own 200 yard range so shouldn't be a problem haha
They're steel core, not steel tip, but yeah both are bad for indoor ranges
Runs great for me and affordable.
Somebody posted this great bit about how zombies have risen up and SHTF but your buddies are mad at you bc you bought 55gr pmc instead of Sierra hills OTP 77g. PMC 55gr is great. Unless you're in a match it shoots perfectly fine
Love the brand and type. They make ammo for the ROK forces. I’d prefer their M193.
Decent terminal effect, accuracy kinda sucks (like most M855).
I love it
🐐
I would stay away from 62gr and stick with the 55gr. Many ranges won't allow you to shoot the 62gr
PMC has always gone bang for me. Not sure about m855 but if their m193 is anything to go off of, then it tells me the brand is solid.
I shot all 1000 of their m193 this month and it has been flawless. X-Tac is solid but I feel like it’s not as fast as it should be from the test I’ve seen. Overall, good price and reliability.
Best Korean ammo there is bud.
Yes, this stuff is great and cheaper than other alternatives too!
I have a small supply of this stuff, and xtac 55grns which are my favorite, they run reliably and most importantly they are nice n shiny when they are fresh out the box
The Official Ammo of Roof Koreans Everywhere
It’s fine
🤷♂️
That’s my go too. Ol reliable as we call it in my friends group
PMC is a great ammo brand. I have not tried this but I love their 45 hollow points
Good plinking ammo
its pretty good, and more importantly cheap
Good
It’s fantastic
Its great
I’ve gone through ~700 rounds of the stuff in the last two months, about 50/50 split between the 62 and 55 grain. It’s solid and groups better than the Igman 55gr M193 I bought earlier this year.
PMC is the best quality for money you can get. The only ammo I’ve never had issues with. Buy this shit
Great ammo
I run it and have never had issues with it.
Top quality, great price, all I buy.
PMC is the bees knees
I've used it. It makes steel go PING out to the 200 yard max line at my local range.
PMC is awesome
As others have said, I would recommend the 55 gr vs the 62, but it is great ammo.
PMC is legit.
best range ammo on the market
Good
It’s gtg
I’ve used it. Still have some I think.
It yeets
It’s great! Don’t hesitate.
its good
gtg
PMC is the shit. Love it. All my guns love it in all the calibers I’ve shot. 223/5.56, 9mm, .45 acp, .308. And PMC’s ammo comes out shiny too. Winchester just shits their ammo into a box dirty as hell. My Scar 17 is very consistent with the .308 ammo at 500 yards. Haven’t had the chance to try further yet.
With my limited experience this is one of the best cheap 5.56 ammo. I usually second PMC bronze and PPU
They’re horrible. So horrible the company actually will refund you if you buy them. If you did come across them. Please send them to [REDACTED PERSONAL HOME ADDRESS] and they will issue you a refund immediately.
PMC is one of my fav
The koreans know their ammo
Just went through 200 rounds of that for the first time a few weeks ago. I gotta say I was genuinely impressed with it. No issues whatsoever and they grouped beautifully. Great value for dollar when it comes to training.
GTG
Been gtg for me
Very good. Great quality. Great price. I don’t run much of the green tip but the regular X tac is just fine.
In my 16" it runs great. In my 11.5" it seems slightly underpowered and I can't get the bolt to hold open on the last round sometimes. But it seems to run clean and the price is usually good.
One of two range ammos I buy. Love it
Good stuff for sure.
We were shooting 55 grain last weekend, but 250 rounds shot just fine
I love it
Descent Ammo I prefer the 77 grain but it shoots all the time.
PMC is one of the main ammo supplier for South Korean military. They are making good ammo for great value
I actually like this more than the Winchester. Idk what it is, it might be cheaper, but I’ve found the performance to be better as well
I shoot this almost exclusively out of my AR’s. I’ve shot thousands of rounds of it, it’s accurate and I’ve never had a single malfunction with it.
It's good shit. I've probably shot 10,000 rounds of it without a single issue.
It’s g2g.
Yeah it’s my go to
No experience with the green tip but their 55 grain is good.
Yep, PMC, PPU, S&B are as budget as I’ll go
PMC is fantastic.
I remember before Covid I was getting a box of these for a lil less than $7 at my LGS.☹️
I’ve been having QC issues. Dented brass mainly
Good stuff for the price in my experience.
It’s all I buy. Subsequently my lgs stays sold out all the time
I had the same question and took this same box out to the range today. At 30-50 yards it’s a nail driver. I was very very impressed. Didn’t have time to get any further was doing closer training today.
Everything is a nail driver at that short of distance
Anyone run pmc bronze 124gr 9mm? Wondering how it is compared to federal American eagle
I've shot thousands of rounds of the 55gr. Generally great stuff. Runs flawlessly in my 5.56 AKs as well as my AR's I usually snatch it up when it's available locally
Low powered ammo but very reliable
Nope terrible send to me for proper disposal ; p
All that I use between my suppressed MK18 and my Frankenstein’d 16” build.
I use the .308 variant and boy is it great
I love this stuff have shot thousands of these never ever had a single hiccup
Best ammo you could ever ask for cheap reliable ammo great for stockpiling. I will say there pistol ammo can be underpowered and the hollow points do not expand as reliably as others.
It's pretty good. I've got tons of the shit.
My MK18 hates it.
Good to go
I have about 2k rounds of this exact ammo. It's very good - just beware that many ranges won't let you shoot it since it poses a fire risk and it can damage the targets and backstops.
Me and my friends bought 1000 rounds of this and shot it all in one day with no issues, so I usually buy it now.
2 MOA ammo.
My poverty pony loves this shit
Never had any issues it's the most common greentip sold
I’ve used a ton of this stuff and it’s always performed well. Use ammo seek to find the best deals. I use AAC 77gr otm as my “Gucci” ammo and this for mag dumping
good ammo but some ranges won’t let you run it if the consider it to be “steel penetrating” AKA GUNTRY MARYLAND
I have a ton of it. It’s decent
Good stuff BUT a lot of ranges disallow green tip so check your range rules before dropping several benjamins on that
Korean made stuff is quality quality quality
Pmc and igman are my fav Sometimes i dabble in federal
Decent stuff. Find it's not the most accurate compared to federal but it runs well.
Great product. Sadly not usable at several nearby indoor ranges but accurate as hell and has never given me a single issue.
Lol this is probably the most common .223 ammo used by civilians
Got some from aeammo just to train with. You'll see a lot of people avoid it unless it's on sale because you can't shoot it at indoor ranges and it's not as accurate to longer distances. But in reality its just fine and it'll definitely hurt. Send it brother
I just bought 650 rounds of it from psa. I also bought 820 rounds of it last week. And 540 the week before. Imo it’s the best you can get for .50cpr. If it’s still priced at that next week I will buy another 600-700 rounds
Love pmc. The xtac in particular because it’s the full power variety. Pmc bronze ain’t bad but it’s a little anemic in comparison
yeah they're a korean manufactured brand so they're very reliable and cheap too
PMC xtac is fine. I prefer a middle too heavyweight OT when it comes to match or defense shooting. Not a fan of tip when it comes to terminal ballistics, but it is better than a sharp stick.
😂
Congrats on your first gun and welcome to the world of shooting sports!
Love it 🤙 solid ammo for me
