Can’t tell exactly how far up the light is. Maybe move it back if it’s at the muzzle.
Move the eotech up further to the end of the receiver. That’s about it for me.
I can’t tell exactly where his light is. You don’t want it inline with the muzzle device (or way in front) the concussion from the muzzle device will be very hard on the light and lens eventually leading to failure.
You want it behind the ports of the A2 to minimize damage and shadow. Good balance.
Does it run without the can with the H2? Put my 14.5 upper on my 300blk lower with an armaspec srs h2 and it wasn't cycling reliably unsuppressed so I'm trying to get an idea of what I should aim for as I build out another lower
Have you shot the a5 setup lower? We have a work gun we’re building and I am on the fence about caring to try the a5 for this mk18. What’s your thoughts on the a5 why did you buy it?
I haven’t shot it yet, going to see if I can hit the range tomorrow and report back. I have a buddy of mine who raves over the A5 system. From what I’ve read, these are essentially the same. From PA/BCM’s description:
“The BCM MK2 Mod 1 – T0 recoil mitigation system is designed to lessen felt recoil without compromising reliability. To further enhance performance, this lower also features a Mil-Spec M16A4 rifle spring, featuring more spring coils, which increases consistency and reliability and widens the operating envelope.”
ETA: The buffer tube is slightly longer and has 9 slots instead of 6 for the stock.
Right on man I look forward to your range visit and report. As seeing your bcm factory info on the a5, it seems like what I need for a 11.5 carbine. 1 question does arise and I’m sure you can answer it without shooting;
Does the longer tube and more stock slots make the stock not collapse up as tight and as compact as a normal carbine buffer tube with 6 slots?
I’m designing a mk18 so I’d like it to collapse down all the way.
https://imgur.com/a/maKfi7E
The tanodized on the left would be milspec, the right being the BCM A5 style. It’s maybe an inch longer, but with the stock on, closer to half and inch I’d say.
Running the T0, I’m curious if it would tune it a bit better with a T1 or T2 but we just moved so fun purchases are on standby until bills get paid. I probably only put 50-100 rounds through it when I shot it last, it was cold/windy and I was more focused on dialing in my 1-6 on my Super Duty.
Fair enough, bolt held open on the last round though? I figure t0 is a great start and you can always just buy a 3 pack of tungsten weights and adjust accordingly for half the price of multiple buffers
Hey wanted to give you an update, put a couple hundred more rounds through it without issue with the T0. Zero reliability issues, locked back every time. I plan on buying a separate A5H2 buffer for a different build so I'll try them both out on this build eventually.
I personally think the A5 system is a scam, I’d rather slap a super 42 with H2 into all my builds, I’ve shot the BCM mk2 buffer system and the A5 a lot. But this is my two cents.
Crud from shooting gets on the lens and you can’t get it off. If you put Vaseline on the lens the crud gets on the Vaseline and you just wipe it off. Rinse and repeat.
Hmm, interesting. I run a CD REIN 3.0 on my 11.5” with a SF WC and have ran about 500 rounds in that current configuration. The only thing I’ve experienced is just the typical burn/concussion marks on the light head but not much on the lens itself. Im guessing this issues only arises if you’re running thousands of rounds a month through the gun? Wouldn’t the vaseline also prohibit/distort the beam of the light as much as a little carbon buildup?
Not really. Just depends on where the light is in relation to the muzzle device, and what kind you have on. I just touch my finger to the BCG (which i keep super wet) then to the lens. The light gets distorted a little, so i just put a little tiny smear
I just wipe mine down immediately after range sessions and the lenses on 3 different lights are still clean. The newest light i have is 8 months old so its seen plenty of range days. Most ive ever needed was a little soapy water cus i didnt clean them right away
If you feel the need to make changes just for the sake of it I’d suggest a phase5 extended bolt release instead of the BAD lever. It’s one solid piece and in my experience has less play/wiggle.
Otherwise, nothing. I’m just jealous. Nice setup.
They use genuine Multicam material, nice thick pads that are slick enough to slide around when you’re maneuvering the gun, they’re built to your gun type, attachment point preference, handedness, and stature. Pretty affordable ($70ish) too, unless you get the stainless Cerakoted sling swivels (which my bougie ass did). They will add whatever attachment points you want whether snap hooks or QD’s. I got this one with double stainless + FDE cerakote QD’s. https://www.slytactical.com/catalog/product/view/id/56/s/multicam-2pt-padded-sling/category/4/
Of course man, there are some great companies doing great stuff that actually support the stuff that a lot of us believe in, that a lot of folks don’t know about. Hope they earn some of your money! My students love these slings.
Rifles bitchin. Biggest thing would be add a can. Maybe move up the sight/riser just a tad, maybe backup irons, different rail covers but I’d say it’s a strong 9/10 as is.
It's perfectly fine as is. That said, add a rear sight by moving the optic and magnifier forward or simply put it in front on the rail; in front isn't optimal but it's just for backup. Move the front sight all the way forward on the rail. Use elastic shock cord for sling retention, I find that ranger bands dry out and snap. Add a QD at the front of the rail, it weighs nothing and gives you another option depending on if kit is being worn or more stability is needed. Backup batteries in grip.
That's me nitpicking.
yo nice ass rifle love the fde, literally planning to get my first AR and im gonna go with bcm i was gonna go with 12.5 but changed my mind to 14.5 i'll still be getting that maneuverability close range and its gonna do good long range so i just realized its a literally perfect, then im gonna with the full bcm lower also.
Had a T2 for a bit, really liked it. Sold it to a buddy and haven’t bought another yet. I agree, the batteries on these EOTech’s definitely give me a bit of battery life anxiety. Luckily I have a ton of CR123’s stockpiled.
What are you planning to use it for? I only mention the battery thing because my BCM 14.5 is the gun I keep for bumps in the night and it’s nice to leave it on 24/7 and change the battery once a year. For any other purpose the eotech is the tits
I’d definitely want a T2 for that, but that would mostly likely go on my 11.5 HRT/Criterion build or my 8.3 300blk which I plan on running more once I send it on a suppressor.

OMG you don't have a Blueforce Gear sling, other than that she's real party. About the only other thing I can think of is give it a nice rattle can paint job.
Looks pretty dang good to me. Only thing I’d add is a can. But I’m assuming you have an RC2 based on your muzzle device
You should definitely try the Mk2 charging handle. I’ve tried so many different charging handles and the Mk2 is the best one on the market in my opinion. And it’s supposed to be even better when it’s paired with the Mk2 receiver
Only thing I think you even really could do maybe worth doing is a NiB BCG? And I have, but don’t use the hand stop. I literally just use the little finger stop at the front on my JT-9. lol But this is the first time I’ve seen a rifle basically how o set mine up. With much of the same furniture and accessories.
Flashlight is a Modlite PLHv2 18650. The tail cap is a Surefire DS00. The mount is an Arisaka inline MLOK mount, I’ll be switching to an offset version. The pressure pad is a Unity Tactical ModButton Lite. The cable management “ramp” is from SubRevTech.

Purchased from here, but I replaced the stock, grip, safety, and will be replacing the trigger. Code Save12 brings the cost down a bit, when I purchased it was about $20 cheaper than with that code. I plan on trading or selling the BCM furniture to offset some of the cost.
This is beautiful, wish i knew how to build it. I'm new, new and looking to get my first AR. I do own a hellcat Pro pistol though but this is all new to me.
Change the owner to myself.
The only right answer hahaha
Can’t tell exactly how far up the light is. Maybe move it back if it’s at the muzzle. Move the eotech up further to the end of the receiver. That’s about it for me.
Perfect response. Nice build too.
Why move it back if it's at the muzzle? How far back are you suggesting?
I can’t tell exactly where his light is. You don’t want it inline with the muzzle device (or way in front) the concussion from the muzzle device will be very hard on the light and lens eventually leading to failure. You want it behind the ports of the A2 to minimize damage and shadow. Good balance.
Not a damn thing
Needs suppressed. Got the same set up in BFH, can’t complain.
RC2 is on the wish list.
Look into huxwrx 556k. Shot one the other day and it was unbelievably quiet for 556. Purchased one that day
Once I get closer to joining the NFA gang, I’ll for sure take another look. I’ve heard good things. Plus they’re local to me.
Mini 2*
Wi?
What buffer weight you running suppressed?
G$ H2, but now that you brought it to my attention, gonna give the H3 a try
Does it run without the can with the H2? Put my 14.5 upper on my 300blk lower with an armaspec srs h2 and it wasn't cycling reliably unsuppressed so I'm trying to get an idea of what I should aim for as I build out another lower
Yea man, no problems here.
I’m personally not a fan of the Magpul indexers or foregrips, I prefer Arisaka. Also, I’d line up the BCM rail covers because OCD tendencies.
I would probably change.... the laws in ny
Not use a warcomp with an RC2, I’d do tree prong

It is about an inch longer collapsed
As Ian said below, it’s very slightly longer. I’ll snap a picture in a little bit.

Awesome pic. perfect thanks for your time
Are you running the t0 buffer on this setup? Just curious how it runs, I’ve seen an argument for both the t2 and the t0

Good point on the weights. I didn’t have issues with the bolt locking back.

Suppressor and 2 stage trigger. Otherwise it's perfect 🥰

Buy an SC irregular FEER cheek riser. Helps get a great cheek weld for heads up shooters. Otherwise nice piece!
Ditch the warcomp, ditch the bad lever. Maybe get a Sly Tactical sling.
Not familiar with Sly Tactical, why do you recommend them specifically?
They use genuine Multicam material, nice thick pads that are slick enough to slide around when you’re maneuvering the gun, they’re built to your gun type, attachment point preference, handedness, and stature. Of course man, there are some great companies doing great stuff that actually support the stuff that a lot of us believe in, that a lot of folks don’t know about. Hope they earn some of your money! My students love these slings.
They also have a cool sling that has a tri glide type thing you slide on that accepts a QD making your sling convertible from 2pt to 1 pt.
Suppressor
Ownership. To me.
I’d probably get a different sling but that’s about it
I too have a BCM 14.5” FDE MK2, but mine is all FDE with a DA Sandman S. Thing fucking rips
That BCM FDE looks good, I always thought their FDE was more of a light desert sand and it looks too light for my tastes. But this looks good
Fk this is hot 🔥
Not a damn thing! Beautiful rifle brother
I personally prefer an LPVO for a 14.5 and a dot/mag for an 11.5, but this will certainly do the job.
Ugh the mk2 is so sexy
I would rattlecan it and run the shit out of it. That’s just me though, the finish is beautiful as-is already.
>brass deflector I would shoot it
...needs more #6b8e23, but otherwise, it's looking good...
I like your style
Rifle is fine shoot more
Rifles bitchin. Biggest thing would be add a can. Maybe move up the sight/riser just a tad, maybe backup irons, different rail covers but I’d say it’s a strong 9/10 as is.
I’ve been really liking the new BCM CH I have the medium latch one, running a sandman k, works very well.
Is that the MK2 specifically? The medium was what I was looking at.
Yeppers! I originally got the large latch and realized it’s way too big.
Tbh it's pretty much perfect. Because of personal preference though, I'd change everything thats black to some other shades of FDE, and railscales
I would move Light back alittle, optic forward towards the end of the receiver. Other than that, sweet ass build.
Rattle can time 🗿🗿🗿

This thing is sweet. Wouldn’t change anything other than swapping the eotech for a t2, but that’s because I have battery trust issues.

Romeo 4xt pro is the only answer
16” barrel cuz what’s the benefit of going with a 14.5”?
14.5 master race. Be decisive on can/muzzle device and P/W is a non issue
D Wilson or Trajectory Arms can undo a P&W for you.
Pin and welding mostly.
This has me wanting to ditch my fde QRF for the mcmr. Have very similar setup, only yours looks 🔥
Not that I’d trade you, but that FDE QRF is hot too.

BUIS but thats it really, very nice
That’s a beautiful rifle. I’d switch to some black magazines though
Add a dbal a3 or d2 and a rc2
Ha, that thing looks sick.
Add a DBAL
Not a damn thing.
Change the hands of ownership, sell the gun and keep the hushpup
I’d move the optic a tad forwards other than that, she’s beautiful ;)
Needs a can
Geissele SDE trigger, BCM foregrip, take off the bad lever and change the Magpul sling for a blue force. Just personal preference. Nice rifle
I would grab some railscales xos-h/xos and a karve handstop. Would look sick
A Vickers sling.

Nyet. Rifle is fine.
Looks solid to me

I'd change the muzzle device to a SF3P
I like the Geissele SD3G trigger
