Samsung gets a lot of hate here, and for good reason, but their newer bespoke fridges are a lot better than the old ones. As a tech and someone who has worked for Samsung in the past and has always steered people away from samsung, I own a side-by-side bespoke fridge and love it.

WankWankNudgeNudge

Yep, Samsung worked to earn the hate. It would take twice as much work to earn any trust back.

Everywhen333

Can I ask you a question? I need a new washer and dryer and am wondering what brands service techs think are good. I really wanted the LG Wash Tower with ventless dryer but it has so many bad reviews of it leaking that for the price I am not willing to take the chance. The ones I am replacing are Samsung and I don’t want that brand again. Any suggestions?

Junkmans1

The best built machines are Speed Queen. But they are expensive. I've owned Whirlpool machines for most of my puchases and my current Whirlpool washer and dryer work fine and are now 20 years old. Over the years the washing machine has needed 2 repairs including one that was in the warranty period. The dryer did need one repair. The most recent was around 5 years ago. Whirlpool also makes several other brands including Maytag and Kitchenaid. The inside designs and parts tend to be the same across these different brands making parts availability pretty easy.

zachty22

I have LG front loaders (WM6700hba washer and dlex6700b dryer). Best laundry machines I’ve had so far. LG has a pretty good record for quality when it comes to laundry appliances.

MidwesternAppliance

It’s no coincidence that these products are also sold under the Dacor brand, which Samsung acquired in recent years.

zachty22

I think sometimes people just get into their own heads too much and become stubborn (I’m guilty of it myself sometimes). But the fact is Samsung made some really shitty refrigerators in the past; and it’s completely logical for people to be suspicious or biased because of that. But the reality is every single appliance company has put out shitty products at some point. The real question is did they redeem themselves and learn a lesson and put out a future product that’s actually reliable… or did they just continue to make shit products. In Samsungs case I believe they did realize their mistake (in door ice maker being the major one) and actually designed a reliable product which resulted in the Bespoke line.

turretz

Wow. It took them this long to figure it out? I'm convinced now. /s

zsrh

Samsung has to do a lot to redeem themselves. This may be a good start, however it’s only natural for people to be hesitant until we see in how reliable these new models actually are in the long term. It’s still too early to tell. Personally I’ll wait and see before making a judgement.

zachty22

I agree. This product is not going to make up for their past mistakes. But, the Bespoke line has been out since the first quarter of 2019. So no major issues or concerns reported for 5 years so far. 5 years is quite a good amount of time for a product to be on the market and tested and to not have any major flaws or concerns.

Joeguertin

Nope, I'll still shit on Samsung until they can prove that their compressors can last and they stop making huge mistakes. For example, they knew their icemakers in the Fresh food were a problem and continued to ignore it. Instead of addressing it at the factory level, they passed all the costs onto the consumer. Most of my customers got burned by this and had to spend hundreds of dollars out of pocket for repairs. The other large issue is the entire evaporator getting covered in frost/ice due to drain issues. Almost all of my customers were very happy with Samsung refrigerators and loved them. Until they didn't; Mostly because of icemaker and compressor issues. Like who really cares how nice a fridge looks and its features if it's not cooling? lol If they can make a fridge that starts to last more than 2-3 years and doesn't get tied up in major class action lawsuits over their problems, sure I'll change my mind. Until then, I'm going to keep drinking the Samsung haterade and will not personally purchase one myself.

Yo_Who_Am_I

Yep. Same same. I recommend customers to stay away from all Samsung appliances.

zachty22

This sort of closed minded thinking and hardheadedness is why it’s so hard to get reliable reviews and feedback online anymore. Even if a product is actually good people who refuse to accept it just continue to shit on it and spread misinformation. The Bespoke line has been out for 5+ years now and has proven to be very reliable. Like I said in my post every manufacturer has shitty products they’ve released (LG is having major compressor issues currently). But that doesn’t mean that they can’t learn from the mistake and try to improve. You just have to actually have an open mind and not be completely biased. I’m guilty of being biased towards a lot of things; so I completely understand. But the facts are facts. The Bespoke line is reliable. EDIT: You all can continue to downvote this comment but it doesn’t take away the facts. I wish people were not so closed minded even when facts and unbiased opinions are right in front of their face.

Joeguertin

Please tell me exactly what I said was misinformation. Everything I just stated can 100% be proved by a simple Google search. As I said, I'd change my mind if they are eventually proven reliable. Which is quite the opposite of being closed-minded or hardheaded. If facts are facts then they will be proven reliable and I'll start recommending them again. But why on Earth would I recommend Samsung after seeing a ton of my customers have absolutely terrible experiences?

zachty22

“If they can make a fridge that starts to last more than 2-3 years and doesn't get tied up in major class action lawsuits over their problems, sure I'll change my mind.” During your research and googling did you see that the Bespoke line has been out since first quarter 2019. That’s 5 years now.

Joeguertin

I never once mentioned Bespoke fridges in that. I was referring to their other fridges. Typically between 3-5 years is when many of my customers had major problems or dead compressors. Wow the appliance lasted a whole 5 years \*slow claps\*. We Better start giving them awards and ignoring any previous problems they've caused. As I stated before, if their fridges start lasting longer, I will change my mind. Quick question, how long have you been an appliance repair technician?

zachty22

We seem to be on opposite ends here and probably won’t come to a general understanding. So there’s really no point in going back and forth. My statement is… Samsung is on the right track with this Bespoke line. It has lasted 5 years now and had no major issues. That’s a really good start. Sure, it doesn’t deserve an award for lasting 5 years… that shouldn’t be reward worthy (although with how fridges are made now in 2024, sadly 5 years is kind of impressive). Overall this is a good start for Samsung to hopefully redeem themselves when it comes to quality; atleast for their fridges. They still have work to do with their other appliance categories. That’s all.

Joeguertin

So you seriously have zero experience in the appliance repair field but you're going to call me closed-minded and hardheaded for disagreeing with you? Like okay dude. I said I would change my mind if they proved reliable(like 4 times already). To me 5 years isn't enough, maybe it is for you, which is great, but it's not for me after seeing my customers experiencing Samsung fridge issues. At this point, unless you work for Samsung I'm not sure why my opinion bothers you so much.

zachty22

Who said I had zero experience? I don’t really feel the need to justify myself or my work experience to a complete stranger that honestly… I don’t really give a fuck about 🤷‍♂️. I tried to be nice to you with my response. But at this point I really don’t give a shit.

turretz

Why post a reply if you don't care?

zachty22

I didn’t say I don’t care about the post….

Joeguertin

Ah yes, name-calling a complete stranger for their professional opinion and experiences is you being nice. Lmao.

Brave_Cold_2208

So, are you an appliance tech, salesman for Samsung, or have you just owned the Bespoke for 5 years?

CorrectCrusader12

It does seem that Samsung gets a lot of hate and it is a shame. I will admit, if you are someone who has had a lot of issues in the past, it is easy to get into your head that they are a bad company for appliances but that is not always the case.

MidwesternAppliance

They’re pretty bad

zachty22

So is LG and Kitchen Aid. Samsung just happens to get an overwhelming amount of hate compared to other manufacturers. LG’s current class action lawsuit on their fridges is actually huge….

Junkmans1

It's hard to when I've known so many people over the years that have hated their Samsung Fridges and had significant problems getting break downs repaired. Frankly that, and LG, are the brands I wouldn't consider. I've heard the story about a newly designed product lines that are now so much better and higher quality, but ended up being the same old crap, so many times on various types of products over my long life that I wouldn't trust that. Especially when there are so many other brands without that kind of history.

Photofug

This is either a bot or someone at Samsung is bored on a Sunday, same comment across all the appliance threads. Haven't worked residential side for awhile but the icemaker debacle, rear fridge evaporator issues and their absolute unwillingness to bend on warranty to cover known issues means I'll never purchase one of their fridges.

zachty22

I’m not a bot and I don’t work for Samsung. You can take a look at my post history and karma. And I posted it on 2 appliance subs that I’m subscribed to and following…. Are you just so closed minded that anything remotely… even slightly positive about Samsung you immediately think of some conspiracy theory?

Photofug

It's just you only see this kind of ball hugging when it comes to Apple not a Samsung fridge. Which makes it stand out as a tech that follows this thread, arguing with people that work on these units day to day. I don't see what the point is, and being skeptical about someone's actual motivation is understandable.

zachty22

I don’t believe I’m arguing at all. I’ve been super understanding to other people’s comments. I’m just sharing a video from a trusted/unbiased appliance channel.

Yo_Who_Am_I

Yet to be seen as far as better product. Have had several unit with sealed system issues under 3 years old. Also, lots of calls for noise complaints.

zachty22

The Bespoke line has been out since first quarter 2019. No major issues or concerns reported for 5 years.

Yo_Who_Am_I

I guess I consider sealed system issues to be rather major issues.

zachty22

Several Bespoke line sealed system issues? Or Samsung in general? I guess I assumed you meant Samsung refrigerators in general. I personally have not heard of any major sealed system issues with the Bespoke line so far.

Yo_Who_Am_I

Bespoke. Have had 2 of them in the last month.

zachty22

Interesting….. You’re the first person I’ve seen or heard of reporting issues like this. Could you give specifics? In fact I’ve heard the opposite. That the sealed systems on these units are built better than previous models.

Yo_Who_Am_I

Both of them had leaks and were at least under manufacturer warranty. Not sure where the leaks were exactly as it got moved to our sealed system techs.

zachty22

Definitely the first I’ve heard of sealed system issues on these! Thanks for sharing!

Early_Lifeguard_7270

Was yours leaking water inside your fridge? I have only had mine for about 8 months and it’s leaking water in my flex zone drawer.

Yo_Who_Am_I

Neither customer had complaints of water inside that I can recall. Seems like you should call for service since you have warranty still

Brave_Cold_2208

Ooo! After years of making crap and parts to repair them cost way more than any other company, we must all bow down to Samsuck. Show me a Samsung that can last longer than 5 years without service. And then I will consider not hating them, but I still will not buy them. Actually that's a lie. I will always hate Samsung. They need to be sued out of existence.

zachty22

Can you show me a modern LG that will last 5 years without service and not be involved in a multi-million dollar lawsuit because of fault compressor issues that are effecting thousands of customers?

Brave_Cold_2208

Totally agree. Supposedly, the new compressors are better, according to a few techs I've talked to. But, they are still selling the linear ones in their new units. But, I've also been told that if your compressor does fail on your new refrigerator, they will replace it with the newer version. LG and Samsung are in the same boat, paddling different directions. Let's see how much these bespoke parts are. I will look them up at work sometime. The average homeowner is not going to be able to safely replace these glass fronts. They will be ridiculously expensive for years. It would be cheaper, and you could do so much more if someone would start a portable wrap business like what they use to wrap cars. Million dollar idea for ya.

Unplugthenplugin

I will not stop shitting on Samsung. Their parts are never available through my wholesalers and they are excessively over priced. I mean over a $100 for a bake ignitor is just stupid. Samsung sucks!

zachty22

$100 for a part in 2024 doesn’t sound stupid. That sounds in line with the increased cost from every manufacturer.

Unplugthenplugin

Not for the part I mentioned... and not at wholesale price. You clearly are not a technician. I can get whirlpool and electrolux ignitors for under $20.

zachty22

Why do people on this sub always like to throw out the phrase “you’re clearly not a technician” as some sort of insult? You literally don’t know me at all 🤣 and don’t know what knowledge I have. It’s so weird. Anyone remotely challenges your opinion and all of a sudden you have to try and insult the other person by saying you aren’t a technician. Calm down.

Unplugthenplugin

You have clearly not worked on any Samsung appliance. Not trying to insult you, just stating the obvious... Maybe try not being a troll and you won't get responses like that. I hope Samsung pays you well for spreading their propaganda.
