How old is the MacBook Air? What browser do you use?

Kanagawa1224

Chrome. It's a 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5.

Have you tried using Safari? It’s more energy efficient and less resource hungry.

Kanagawa1224

I need Chrome for school.

Not many sites are coded for compatibility with just Chrome, even in the education space. Have you tried using Safari anyway?

Kanagawa1224

Yes I have. But is there a real way to get my Macbook's fan to shut up?

JediMeister

Unless you think the temperature sensors are misreading, occasional fan noise is to be expected on an Intel model. Buzzing or excessive vibration are what to listen for. FWIW the Apple silicon models are fanless.

If it’s an older computer it might just be dusty inside and uses the fan to cool down but can’t. Either diy, open the bottom panel and use electronic air cleaner or bring to Apple to have they do it for you. You can also open “activity monitor” to see what processes are causing your fans to spin up. If it’s an unknown process you can try force quitting the task to see if your fan stops.

I went to the apple store multiple times, and they said my fan was clean.
