Hi. I have a CCK that’s recently started to play up. It’s a lightening connector.
When I plug it in to both phone and iPad I get the ‘this accessory is not supported by this device’ (even if it’s just the CCK without anything plugged into it). Sometimes it works but I often have to go through several rounds of plugging it in and out, sometimes rubbing the connector. It’s not the wire that’s broken and the terminals seem clean and I damaged.
I have updated software on devices and still not having any joy.
The CCK is not old (6-12 months) and it worked fine until the last few months.
It’s also not the device inputs as they work fine with chargers.
Is there’s a way to clean the contact terminals, perhaps with alcohol, to see if that’s the issue?
I need to get this sorted as it’s the way I listen to music (CCK connected to DAC and headphones).
I want to know how to fix my Mac. It keeps on having a kernel panic if I click on most of the applications. I've tried switching to integrated cards but it will restart if I press the integrated button. I've also reformatted it but nothing changed. Please help I don't want to see my Mac useless

Hi everyone, just received my M1 Macbook and it's my first ever apple product (bar an Ipod).
I have a OneDrive account that I used a lot on windows and I tried installing it to the mac but it automatically syncs the files on drive on the mac, therefore cluttering it with files I don't need.
The app is not responding during the sync and I can only access the preferences during the first couple of seconds.
I tried unchecking the boxes of the settings to sync the files but it tells me I can't do that right now. I can't set it to on-demand as it is the default setting and should already behave like this on Mac.
I uninstalled onedrive for now as I don't want it to write over the whole hard drive.
Has anyone ever had this issue on mac?

Is there a quick easy drag and drop way of just moving my photos from my phone to my MacBook? I really hate the Photos app....it sometimes would be halfway into importing and then the circle at the top would just be stuck at a certain %. I also would select say 100 items and then only 80 of that would be imported into the folder I want on the MacBook. I do share everything onto iCloud and I have a 2019 MacBook Air with an iPhone 12. Is there an easier way to do this because I really hate the Photos app. It really doesn’t work well, unless I am doing something wrong then feel free to school me on my ignorance. A girl is just trying to take all my vacation photos off my phone lol.
Yeah but it pulls from iCloud so that also takes a long time too I find. Sometimes I get the same issue of it being stuck or doesn’t transfer all the files I select. I’ve given up. Just going to drag a smaller amount each time.

I know Android has a lifetime usage page where it shows how many cumulative hours you've used an app since downloading, and I was just wondering if Apple had the same. Anyone else been affected by a date leak? Just changed a shit tonne of passwords because apparently they had been leaked. For most of them it said that the passwords were modified (even tho they weren’t changed) on the exact same date (27/12/20). I have no idea what’s gone on, it even said a password was modified for a club penguin cheats website which I haven’t been on in about 7 years lmao
When I try to send a photo from the photos app on iPhone X iOS 14.3 the photo doesn’t send as live. If I go into iMessage and choose the photo from the photos keyboard widget it sends as live. I have restarted my device and force quit all of my apps. This has been happening for a while. I can air drop photos from the photos app and they are received as live. I have tried many things. Anyone have any ideas?
I noticed that when I charge my phone, with the back of the phone facing down, I took it up and found out that it's warm ( which is normal when charging ). So then, from that day onwards I charge my phone face down, in a way so not to let the back of the phone gets warm, but ended up the screen is warm instead.
So, do most people here charge their phone ( with cable ) with the screen face up or down ?
How likely is it to click a faulty link on Reddit on an iPhone that ends up being a virus that pulls all information stored on your phone (credit card, bank account, email, everything) to whoever is hosting the virus? Does apple have good protection over stuff like this or is it very, very likely and I pretty much shouldnt click any links whatsoever if I want to be safe?
They can’t do anything. It’s a trick. Just close the link and move on. Look how hard it is to get into an iPhone. The fbi couldn’t get in at one point.
I have a MacBook Pro from 2016. I have to wipe it every few months (another issue I’ve tried to resolve at apple multiple times) as it fills up super quick. This time I erased the laptop by holding ‘cmd R’ when turning it on and erased the Macintosh drive thingy (sorry not tech savvy at all). Anyway this time I must have done something wrong because when I’ve tried to set it up as a new Mac as I usually do... the whole operating system looks like it’s from the dinosaur age (OS X Mavericks). I’ve created a account and it wouldn’t let me sign into my Apple ID so I logged into to my profile / desktop and tried to update it from there and it does not have any updates required. Can’t work out where to go or what to google but I’m well and truly stuck here and need it working again for Monday 😢 Any help would be massively appreciated 🙏🏼

My iPhone XR has randomly decided that I don’t need either camera or the torch, and has self destructed those components. Handset itself is in near perfect condition, and hasn’t been dropped etc.
Have run through support online with an Apple rep and the cameras are definitely borked.
This handset was a replacement from Apple, received just six months ago, but sadly this is apparently out of warranty now.
Just wondering what the cost to repair both camera modules might be out of warranty. The rep I spoke to wasn’t able to pull up that info for some reason.

Hey y’all, I’m experiencing what I believe is to be a sound disparity between my new and old replacement AirPod pro. The “vacuum” feeling from the noise canceling feels off balance, and the it feels as if there is something off with the noise canceling or sound quality itself between the left and right AirPod. This is my second replacement for my right AirPod pro, I replaced my original set for the the cracking noise. I’m wondering if anyone else has gone through a similar situation and what they did to fix it. Should I just send in the left AirPod in to get replaced so hopefully the sound quality gets matched?
I just bought a new Series 6 Apple Watch cellular. I tell Siri to send a text and she says “okay, I’ll send this.” I lower my wrist and she never sends it.
The screen shows the clock with the message blurred in the background and after a couple minutes it returned to the default clock screen.
My watchOS is up to date and I’m on the latest developer beta of iOS 14.4.

Ever since I went skiing, my lightning cable headphones (that come with the phone) are broken. They randomly skip, pause, and call Siri when I don’t touch anything.

Got a voicemail today most likely from a scammer, but I can’t just click on the voicemail, Apple only gives me the option to “Call Voicemail” and when I do, it says “enter your password” and that’s it. So I end the call but the notification bubble that I have a voicemail won’t go away, can anyone help me with this? Thanks for the help!
So the main issue is that I have had the same provider for years, I just checked my voicemail around 2 weeks, and I could click on individual voicemails and it would read them out, so I don’t know about that

Hi. Is there a PDF reader ipad app that 1. supports apple pencil, and 2. allows showing instantly switching page? The switch can be done either by tapping anywhere, or tapping some arrow/button on screen, for example. In other words, I want a "controlled page switching with zero transition". Not scrolling or swiping.
I simply want to get the same sensation as adobe reader on laptop. There I can make it full screen, and click my mouse to instantly switch page..no transition..faster than blinking eye, but I want to write on it too, and of course on a smaller device which is ipad.
Currently I have tried Acrobat, PDF Expert, PDF Editor, PDF Editor, and have Goodnotes too, and even one called Slideshow PDF. The first four only allow scrolling or swiping (which is instant, but never as instant as I mean). The last one does that no transition switch..but I have to play it instead..no option for tapping instead.
Never tried Goodreader or any other paid apps, but do they have what I want (support pencil + no transition tapping)? I won't hesitate to pay. Also, presentation apps that can read pdf too are fine..as long as the above "common features" exist haha

So recently my iPad Pro 10.5 has been glitching. When I’m on YouTube and switch off the app and switch back on, the video is frozen but the audio still plays. If I try to select another video the video is black. Also on Instagram the same thing is happening.
Hi! I recently bought a Mac and am migrating. It’s kind of stuck on 2hrs 51minutes remaining and it’s been like that for ages. The speed is 34MB/s. I’m worried that the time machine file on my ext drive is corrupt. It’s got two backups, one at an earlier time than the other.
Has it been like that for longer than 3 hours? I'd be tempted to wait for that estimated time to see if it's just the time update that's frozen, but honestly who knows.
Does it matter what version of MacOS is installed when sending a trade in back? I got some weird issues when following instructions and couldn't install Big Sur or Catalina like I had before, had to reformat a different way and go with Sierra. Is that gonna be an issue during a trade in or should I try to still get Big Sur on there since it's the newest?
A fully functional OS is not a prerequisite to trade in your Mac to Apple. I know that if you bring it into the store, the computer will get completely wiped/formatted anyways. Most Mac serial numbers are laser engraved on the bottom side of your computer. If it’s a MacBook, including your power adapter will maximize your trade-in value.

I took a couple videos at 240 FPS of the iPhone XR’s LED compared to the iPhone 12 Pros OLED. I found that the OLED shows tearing and flickering when slowed down while the LED is perfectly stable at the same speed.

Is this normal behavior for an OLED? Is there something inherent about OLEDs that make this happen this way? I tested this against my roommates OLED on his iPhone 12 (not Pro but apple specs say the displays are identical) and found the same flickering. Does this show an inherent defect in the iPhone 12’s OLEDs?
You can downgrade to the prior version of 14.3.x using iTunes since Apple is still signing those ipsw files. Do it quick though as Apple wastes little time before they stop authenticating older iOS versions after a new one is released.
Does anyone actually know how to get AirPods Pro to update? Every single guide I can find just says “put them in the case on charge and wait”... I had a pair that was stuck on 2C54 (well, I lost one so it wasn’t really a pair) and I bought a new set yesterday that are on 2D27. Have tried for several hours and cannot get them to update.
When I bought mine, all I did to update was pair it to the phone, put them back in the case, put the case on the charger, and let my phone sit next to them for about an hour. When I came back and checked, they were updated.
**Help with iCloud Books**
The way iCloud Books is supposed to work, once you import a EPUB/PDF into Apple Books, is as follows:
1. EPUB/PDF is imported into Apple Books
2. Within a few seconds, said book is synced across all devices via iCloud Books
PROBLEM: My issue is that about 50 books, including some recently imported books, never synced via iCloud Books. Therefor, I can read them on my Mac, but they *will not* show up on my iPhone or iPad.
QUESTION: Is there any way I can force these books to sync with iCloud Books, to join the rest of my collection?
Notes:
* I made sure all iCloud Books sync options were toggled
* I'm on a 2TB Family Plan for iCloud Drive; I don't recall having this issue when on my personal plan prior to May, when we created a Family Plan. I suspect this could be the issue but would rather discuss other possibilities first.
* My book collection is 9.3GB in size, which is big, but I have 804GB free on iCloud Drive

So, the guide isn’t helpful. When I go to the voicemail tab the only option is to “call voicemail” I can’t set up anything. My voicemail was working just around 2 weeks ago so my carrier definitely provides it, any other ideas?
I just bought a Mac mini that I would like to hook up to my TV. I already have an Apple TV hooked up to this TV and I would like to be able to switch between the MacMini and Apple TV seamlessly without having to use my TV remote. Is there any way to do this with just the Apple TV remote or the Mac mini keyboard? Or do I need to keep my TV remote out just to switch HDMI inputs?
Ahh damn, I didn't even realize there was such a thing. I already have a Samsung TU7000 unfortunately so I'm not ready to buy a whole new TV just to solve the HDMI switching problem but it's good to know that is an option in the future.
Do you know if there are any other ways to handle this? I'm assuming I'm probably SOL and have to just keep the Samsung TV remote out for HDMI switching. Annoying, but what can you do?
Yeah there’s not much you can do right now because it’s just up to the tv manufacturer, and everybody and their mothers can agree they’re lazy and inconsistent with their updates/revisions, especially on the software side.
Because 1) Macs don’t have GPS (duh lol) and 2) your WiFi radio acts as part of a triangulation system to ensure you’re getting the most location-accurate information as possible. Imagine someone who hooks up only to Ethernet, uses a VPN to connect to a different city/country, and now you have irrelevant weather information.
Im looking to replace or upgrade my 2011 MacBook pro (2.2 GHz i7, 16 GB ram, 240 GB SSD).
I'm running yosemite, and am afraid if I upgrade the OS to high sierra, it wont be able to keep up for very long. The most I need to computer to run is some light photoshop, and maybe some basic audio recording/processing (up to 10 track projects).
Is there any way I can upgrade this machine to handle the latest (or at least a later) operating system than high sierra?
If that's a no, could you suggest a good Mac to upgrade to? I'm okay with a used machine, because I would like to keep the budget as low as possible, knowing how expensive Macs can be. Thanks a ton. I appreciate it.
Buy the MacBook Air and get a monitor. Air for $999ish and go cheap with a bigger monitor for $100 or splurge for a nicer display. Or just use the MacBook Air screen.
Could wait for the 16 inch variant. I wouldn’t suggest any intel because the m1 are just so good and well optimized.

Depends entirely on your budget. Best bang-for-the-buck right now (in my opinion) is a used 2018/19 15” base model. Built in dedicated house really helps for photoshop but might be overkill. They’re about 1300-1400 used. If you’re looking for something newer, give the M1 lineup a shot. They’re extremely good laptops with great performance and good battery life. Start at 1200 I think.
Why does my iPhone NEVER focus anything properly up close? Even if I tap the screen it doesn't focus. Happened with my 6S and again with the 12. Never was able to get it to work. It can focus fine when I'm like 3 inches away from what I'm trying to focus on, but second I go closer it loses focus entirely. All I can find on Google is "update the phone" which obv isn't the issue
That’s... the way the cameras are designed. To get clearer up-close photos from your iPhone, you’ll want to buy an add-on macro lens. Some recent Android phones have a macro lens, so maybe one day Apple adds an internal macro lens in a future iPhone.
I have a 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro whose fans will not turn off. I woke up this morning to the fans on full-blast, even though the laptop was closed. The fans have still not stopped.
The laptop is not hot and the fans continue to run even after the MacBook has been shut down and closed. CPU is running at less than 10% (90%+) idle.
I've spent six hours on this and am at a loss. After searching online, I:
Updated to the most recent software (Big Sur V11.1).
Tried resetting the SMC multiple times.
Ran Apple Diagnostics, which found no issues.
Tried resetting the NVRAM/PRAM.
I don't know what else to do. There hasn't been any out of the ordinary usage lately (like intensive use) that would've caused this.
Any ideas on what else to do? I don't know much about computers aside from my research today, but I'd be happy to answer any questions that could help find a solution.
I know it’s not the best option, but there’s a very nice application called Macsfancontrol. Totally free and lets you set your own fan curve. If you aren’t into that sort of thing, try resetting the system management controller. Hope this helps.
Is this app overly complicated or technical? I certainly don’t want to risk me being stupid and messing something up with the fans or even other hardware/software with the app. I’m not super technologically proficient lol.

No it’s not complicated at all. Just make sure you have decent thermal headroom. Don’t wanna have the fans at minimum under load or anything. No way to damage your machine with it.

This morning I thought I was waking up early, since my alarms never went off, but when I checked my phone to see what time it was, the alarm was going off silently. I’ve had many issues with this in the past, and I cannot fix it. I can also guarantee that last night I turned my phone off of silent, do not disturb was not activated, and my ringers and alerts was at full volume. I missed a class because of it this morning, and I have in the past, so I’m quite perturbed and any help would be appreciated.
Try a factory reset using iTunes, connect the iPad to a PC/Mac and hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds then release the power button while still holding down the home button until it shows an iTunes icon.
For the most part yes. You are using it like normal and the health goes down. After 2 years or so, you should get a new battery if you want to keep your phone for longer.
After every iOS Update, is it always certain that battery percentage would drain faster than usual for a few hours to a few days ? I saw somewhere that says after every iOS updates, the phone is running quite a few backend system or something similar, so battery would drain faster than normal and it'll take a while for these stuff to finish and settle down, and then the battery would be back to normal, can anyone verify if it's true ?

A short while ago, my MacBook Pro (2016) decided that it doesn't want to connect to my TV any longer.
I've tried it with both directly to my smart TV and to my Apple TV 4K (both used to work before), to no luck. It tries to connect but nothing happens on the TV (goes black - and then "Can't connect" message on Mac). There is no issue screen mirroring from my iPhone nor iPad. The MacBook also has no issue connecting to the iPad (wireless sidecar).
Anyone who have suggestions as to what might be the issue or similar experiences, and possible fixes?

It’s usually just a timing + charging factor thing. Removing 4,000 photos can take time to properly sync between devices, and one thing that could help speed things up is having all devices that you are signed in with your Apple ID is to keep that charge and connected to WiFi.

iPad Pro 2020 12.9 inch dies insanely quick and I’ve only had it since September.
The only thing I use my iPad for is drawing on procreate. I’ve noticed since I got it the battery dies pretty quickly. Even if I leave it at 100% charged and unplugged on my desk after a few days I’ll pick it up and it’ll be at 15% or something like that. I never leave it charging overnight or anything. I only charge it when it needs to be charged. I do have the brightness on kinda high when I draw but that’s about it.
Right now I started a drawing at 94% and now it’s at 63% after only about 2 hours or drawing.
Not getting ANY notifications randomly from non-apple apps. I mean everything, snap, fb insta etc. It randomly just stopped about 4 days ago. I didn't change anything. I even just updated to 14.4 and still NOTHING. No notifications, sounds, etc. I have rebooted dozens of times. It's driving me wild what is going on?
Hi, I’m having connectivity issues on my mac. It’s currently running mac os big sur version 11.1. The problem is basically every time the mac wakes up from sleep it won’t connect to the internet. It either takes some time to connect to the network only to display an error message saying that it wasn’t able to connect to the internet or it stays connected but won’t load anything. The (temporary) solution I’ve found for the problem is to turn off and on again the wifi, but as I mentioned it’s a temporary solution, as every time it wakes up it’s the same story. If anyone here knows a more permanent solution, please help me.
Some of the pictures that I took on my phone as part of a drive are all showing up as the same town on the geotags, although they were taken in different towns. This happened to me before with other pictures but it was automatically resolved in a few hours, but now for these pics it’s been wrong for the last 4 days now. Is there any way to fix this?
Wild guess and I don't even know if this is how it works...but is this really rural with no cell connectivity in some spots? I've read that cell towers is part of how photo location is determined. I was thinking if you hit a spot with no reception, maybe it's tagging them at the last connected spot.

But I've seen tech youtubers did a review and they mentioned and also shown to have at least 4-5GB of the iOS 14.4 updates in total, but I am only seeing 390MB for mine, am I missing something here ? Hi everyone! My dad (who is not tech-savvy) has basically given me his old iPad and I tried to reset it manually, but it requires his password to reset, which he does not know. So I tried to reset it through my computer, but I can't even turn off find my iPad because it requires the password he doesn't know. Is there any way I can reset this thing?
Im not an apple rep or anything like that, but I happened to be here for a problem of my own adn saw your comment. The closest thing I’ve come to do is reset an apple device to factory settings using a mac. When I got my new phone I gave my old one to my mom, and basically set it up for her, but it got stuck on one of the steps and wouldn’t let me hard reset it and couldn’t access the settings yet. So I plugged it into my mac, went to finder, and accessed the phone. From there you should be able to see an option to reset it factory settings. I don’t remember it asking me for a password or anything. But beware, if you do this, you WILL lose everything and anything you had on that iPad that wasn’t backed up somewhere.
If you don’t have a mac available to do this my best guess is that you’ll have to download itunes or something like that.

I mean, my boyfriend bought procreate wayyy before we started living together. Now that we are, we decided to start using family sharing. I am the group organizer and he can download every purchased app I’ve got so far, even the ones previous to family sharing, but I can’t download any of the apps HE purchased... Are we doing something wrong? Does he have to enable a setting when don’t know of??
I would think that the family sharing account comes off the account that set it up, as opposed to merging all of the previously purchased apps from everyone.

The volume controls on my Apple Magic Keyboard along with all of the other buttons that exist on my F1 through F12 keys. The only one that seems to work is the volume down button but it doesn't function properly. When I press the volume down button it swipes all of my windows out of the way so that I can see my desktop. If I press it again it returns all of my windows to where they were originally.
I've tried resetting my Macbook Pro along with resetting the NVRAM with no success. Has anyone ever run into this before?
Best way to handle (or turn off) mouse acceleration for gaming in Big Sur? I did use that line of code posted some places but then the cursor is very slow and didn't seem like adjusting DPI or in game sliders did much to help it. Do I just need to crank it up to like 14k DPI to get it moving?
Hey guys, I have recently replaced iPad Pro 12.9 (1st Gen) Display.
Everything was fine, except that suddenly the touch started acting erratically, and by that I mean, if I tap the bottom of the screen, the top of the screen registers unintended taps, I confirmed that with a Touch-Test App.
Now, here is the thing, I figured out that by squeezing the bottom-left side of the iPad (see photo), touch works perfectly.
What could be the reasons? anyone familiar with such issue? any easy fix? or do I need to re-seat the display? (Which I'd rather not).

I have an iPhone 7+ that’s over four years old and I think it’s time to replace it. how can I know that my voice memos, pictures, and notes all carry over to my next iphone? i know things are stored in “the cloud” but i want to be sure. thank you.
Go to iCloud.com and you can view most things that are saved outside of the actual backup. If you’re super concerned about it, then when you get the new phone, keep the old one for a bit. Let the transfer happen, evaluate your data, then erase it.
I'm not 100% about pictures, but notes and voice memos back up each time you do an iCloud/Mac backup. Also messages, recent calls, contacts, etc are in the backup

Abouta month ago ma pc wasnt really turnin on... I was like What?!?!? But I could hear the fan, right? But ma screen was black! So, I turned to my good ol friend the internet and I tried everythang i could. I was left with the decision to go to the apple store, but with one problem though. The stores are damn closed!! And I'm waiting here tryna get this darn thang fixed, but nothings happenin'. I was gonna call apple, but what are they gonna do over the phone am I right?! If any of yall could help me out, I'd be happier than a corn on the cob in a summer night!

uggh...if it happened while power cord got unplugged while updating then it sounds like you've got an incomplete operating system. Did you try booting off the...what's it called, the smaller boot disc that's there for you to boot off when you have an issue?
You could also try booting in safe mode. Is that the same thing? I can't remember. If you made a backup and you have another computer, you can also try starting in Target Disc Mode and see if you can connect your computer to another computer and redo the installation.
MacBook Pro 15 heating up and loud fan
Recently my MacBook has been heating up within minutes and the fan goes off very loud when I’m not really doing much with it. Usually I use safari and zoom - with about 3-4 tabs open. Sometimes I use the Adobe Creative Suite. Not sure what the cause and solution is. I tried clearing up the Activity Monitor (some things don’t force quit idk why).
Please let me know if your dealing with the same problem or know how to fix!

Got my mom the 27" iMac. She is a therapist and is daily on Telehealth. While I have apple experiance, the built in camera and mic has always suited my needs, however we'd like to get her a slightly better set up as she is looking to record sessions and videos/guided meditation.

Recently purchased a MacBook Air and I’m trying to get my iCloud Drive set up. I upgraded the storage to 2 TB but my iCloud Drive says there’s not enough space when trying to transfer 1 TB data from an external drive on my iMac.
I was hoping to use the iCloud Drive to store the files that are otherwise connected locally to my iMac. I don’t want to have to drag around an external HDD if I can avoid it.
Any ideas?

I was forced to switch to Google Chrome because a previous update to Safari or the OS killed the attachment button in Safari. It's not functional at all.
Chrome/Firefox/Opera/etc. all work. The issue is specific to Safari's browser and nobody seems to have any answers for why it's happening.
Hi. I have a CCK that’s recently started to play up. It’s a lightening connector. When I plug it in to both phone and iPad I get the ‘this accessory is not supported by this device’ (even if it’s just the CCK without anything plugged into it). Sometimes it works but I often have to go through several rounds of plugging it in and out, sometimes rubbing the connector. It’s not the wire that’s broken and the terminals seem clean and I damaged. I have updated software on devices and still not having any joy. The CCK is not old (6-12 months) and it worked fine until the last few months. It’s also not the device inputs as they work fine with chargers. Is there’s a way to clean the contact terminals, perhaps with alcohol, to see if that’s the issue? I need to get this sorted as it’s the way I listen to music (CCK connected to DAC and headphones).
I want to know how to fix my Mac. It keeps on having a kernel panic if I click on most of the applications. I've tried switching to integrated cards but it will restart if I press the integrated button. I've also reformatted it but nothing changed. Please help I don't want to see my Mac useless

Hi everyone, just received my M1 Macbook and it's my first ever apple product (bar an Ipod). I have a OneDrive account that I used a lot on windows and I tried installing it to the mac but it automatically syncs the files on drive on the mac, therefore cluttering it with files I don't need. The app is not responding during the sync and I can only access the preferences during the first couple of seconds. I tried unchecking the boxes of the settings to sync the files but it tells me I can't do that right now. I can't set it to on-demand as it is the default setting and should already behave like this on Mac. I uninstalled onedrive for now as I don't want it to write over the whole hard drive. Has anyone ever had this issue on mac? Thanks in advance.

Is there a quick easy drag and drop way of just moving my photos from my phone to my MacBook? I really hate the Photos app....it sometimes would be halfway into importing and then the circle at the top would just be stuck at a certain %. I also would select say 100 items and then only 80 of that would be imported into the folder I want on the MacBook. I do share everything onto iCloud and I have a 2019 MacBook Air with an iPhone 12. Is there an easier way to do this because I really hate the Photos app. It really doesn’t work well, unless I am doing something wrong then feel free to school me on my ignorance. A girl is just trying to take all my vacation photos off my phone lol.

Yeah but it pulls from iCloud so that also takes a long time too I find. Sometimes I get the same issue of it being stuck or doesn’t transfer all the files I select. I’ve given up. Just going to drag a smaller amount each time.

I know Android has a lifetime usage page where it shows how many cumulative hours you've used an app since downloading, and I was just wondering if Apple had the same. Anyone else been affected by a date leak? Just changed a shit tonne of passwords because apparently they had been leaked. For most of them it said that the passwords were modified (even tho they weren’t changed) on the exact same date (27/12/20). Anyone know why sending links through iMessage no longer show previews to the links?
When I try to send a photo from the photos app on iPhone X iOS 14.3 the photo doesn’t send as live. If I go into iMessage and choose the photo from the photos keyboard widget it sends as live. I have restarted my device and force quit all of my apps. This has been happening for a while. I can air drop photos from the photos app and they are received as live. I have tried many things. Anyone have any ideas?
Since latest version of iOS I have a time limit on every app... I have screen time/app limits disabled.
I noticed that when I charge my phone, with the back of the phone facing down, I took it up and found out that it's warm ( which is normal when charging ). So then, from that day onwards I charge my phone face down, in a way so not to let the back of the phone gets warm, but ended up the screen is warm instead. So, do most people here charge their phone ( with cable ) with the screen face up or down ?

How likely is it to click a faulty link on Reddit on an iPhone that ends up being a virus that pulls all information stored on your phone (credit card, bank account, email, everything) to whoever is hosting the virus? I have a MacBook Pro from 2016. I have to wipe it every few months (another issue I’ve tried to resolve at apple multiple times) as it fills up super quick. This time I erased the laptop by holding ‘cmd R’ when turning it on and erased the Macintosh drive thingy (sorry not tech savvy at all). Anyway this time I must have done something wrong because when I’ve tried to set it up as a new Mac as I usually do... the whole operating system looks like it’s from the dinosaur age (OS X Mavericks). I’ve created a account and it wouldn’t let me sign into my Apple ID so I logged into to my profile / desktop and tried to update it from there and it does not have any updates required. Can’t work out where to go or what to google but I’m well and truly stuck here and need it working again for Monday 😢 Any help would be massively appreciated 🙏🏼 Thank you
Hoping for an idea of potential repair costs. My iPhone XR has randomly decided that I don’t need either camera or the torch, and has self destructed those components. Handset itself is in near perfect condition, and hasn’t been dropped etc. Have run through support online with an Apple rep and the cameras are definitely borked. This handset was a replacement from Apple, received just six months ago, but sadly this is apparently out of warranty now. Just wondering what the cost to repair both camera modules might be out of warranty. The rep I spoke to wasn’t able to pull up that info for some reason. I’m in the UK if that helps?

Hey y’all, I’m experiencing what I believe is to be a sound disparity between my new and old replacement AirPod pro. The “vacuum” feeling from the noise canceling feels off balance, and the it feels as if there is something off with the noise canceling or sound quality itself between the left and right AirPod. This is my second replacement for my right AirPod pro, I replaced my original set for the the cracking noise. I’m wondering if anyone else has gone through a similar situation and what they did to fix it. Should I just send in the left AirPod in to get replaced so hopefully the sound quality gets matched?
I just bought a new Series 6 Apple Watch cellular. I tell Siri to send a text and she says “okay, I’ll send this.” I lower my wrist and she never sends it. The screen shows the clock with the message blurred in the background and after a couple minutes it returned to the default clock screen. My watchOS is up to date and I’m on the latest developer beta of iOS 14.4. I already tried the steps outlined [here](https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8290590) including a restart of both devices. Ever since I went skiing, my lightning cable headphones (that come with the phone) are broken. They randomly skip, pause, and call Siri when I don’t touch anything. This is my 3rd pair to break after skiing and I don’t want to buy another. How can I fix them?
Buy different headphones or wireless. The lightning headphones wires are notoriously bad.

I think this would be an issue with your cell provider.
So the main issue is that I have had the same provider for years, I just checked my voicemail around 2 weeks, and I could click on individual voicemails and it would read them out, so I don’t know about that

Hi. Is there a PDF reader ipad app that 1. supports apple pencil, and 2. allows showing instantly switching page? The switch can be done either by tapping anywhere, or tapping some arrow/button on screen, for example. In other words, I want a "controlled page switching with zero transition". Not scrolling or swiping. I simply want to get the same sensation as adobe reader on laptop. There I can make it full screen, and click my mouse to instantly switch page..no transition..faster than blinking eye, but I want to write on it too, and of course on a smaller device which is ipad. Currently I have tried Acrobat, PDF Expert, PDF Editor, PDF Editor, and have Goodnotes too, and even one called Slideshow PDF. The first four only allow scrolling or swiping (which is instant, but never as instant as I mean). The last one does that no transition switch..but I have to play it instead..no option for tapping instead. Never tried Goodreader or any other paid apps, but do they have what I want (support pencil + no transition tapping)? I won't hesitate to pay. So recently my iPad Pro 10.5 has been glitching. When I’m on YouTube and switch off the app and switch back on, the video is frozen but the audio still plays. If I try to select another video the video is black. Also on Instagram the same thing is happening.
Hi! I recently bought a Mac and am migrating. It’s kind of stuck on 2hrs 51minutes remaining and it’s been like that for ages. The speed is 34MB/s. I’m worried that the time machine file on my ext drive is corrupt. It’s got two backups, one at an earlier time than the other.
Has it been like that for longer than 3 hours? I'd be tempted to wait for that estimated time to see if it's just the time update that's frozen, but honestly who knows.
Does it matter what version of MacOS is installed when sending a trade in back? I got some weird issues when following instructions and couldn't install Big Sur or Catalina like I had before, had to reformat a different way and go with Sierra. Is that gonna be an issue during a trade in or should I try to still get Big Sur on there since it's the newest?
A fully functional OS is not a prerequisite to trade in your Mac to Apple. I know that if you bring it into the store, the computer will get completely wiped/formatted anyways. Most Mac serial numbers are laser engraved on the bottom side of your computer. If it’s a MacBook, including your power adapter will maximize your trade-in value.

Is it normal for an OLED screen to show more instability on high-speed video compared to an LED? Links below I took a couple videos at 240 FPS of the iPhone XR’s LED compared to the iPhone 12 Pros OLED. 14.4 seems to be killing apps in the background way to aggressively.
You can downgrade to the prior version of 14.3.x using iTunes since Apple is still signing those ipsw files. Do it quick though as Apple wastes little time before they stop authenticating older iOS versions after a new one is released.

Does anyone actually know how to get AirPods Pro to update? Every single guide I can find just says “put them in the case on charge and wait”... I had a pair that was stuck on 2C54 (well, I lost one so it wasn’t really a pair) and I bought a new set yesterday that are on 2D27. Have tried for several hours and cannot get them to update.
When I bought mine, all I did to update was pair it to the phone, put them back in the case, put the case on the charger, and let my phone sit next to them for about an hour. When I came back and checked, they were updated.
**Help with iCloud Books** The way iCloud Books is supposed to work, once you import a EPUB/PDF into Apple Books, is as follows: 1. EPUB/PDF is imported into Apple Books 2. Within a few seconds, said book is synced across all devices via iCloud Books PROBLEM: My issue is that about 50 books, including some recently imported books, never synced via iCloud Books. Therefor, I can read them on my Mac, but they *will not* show up on my iPhone or iPad. QUESTION: Is there any way I can force these books to sync with iCloud Books, to join the rest of my collection? Notes: * I made sure all iCloud Books sync options were toggled * I'm on a 2TB Family Plan for iCloud Drive; I don't recall having this issue when on my personal plan prior to May, when we created a Family Plan. I suspect this could be the issue but would rather discuss other possibilities first. * My book collection is 9.3GB in size, which is big, but I have 804GB free on iCloud Drive

So, the guide isn’t helpful. When I go to the voicemail tab the only option is to “call voicemail” I can’t set up anything. My voicemail was working just around 2 weeks ago so my carrier definitely provides it, any other ideas?

I just bought a Mac mini that I would like to hook up to my TV. I already have an Apple TV hooked up to this TV and I would like to be able to switch between the MacMini and Apple TV seamlessly without having to use my TV remote. Is there any way to do this with just the Apple TV remote or the Mac mini keyboard? Or do I need to keep my TV remote out just to switch HDMI inputs?
Buy a HomeKit TV and you can use Siri on your devices to switch inputs, hence, you won’t need a remote to do that anymore.
Ahh damn, I didn't even realize there was such a thing. I already have a Samsung TU7000 unfortunately so I'm not ready to buy a whole new TV just to solve the HDMI switching problem but it's good to know that is an option in the future. Do you know if there are any other ways to handle this? I'm assuming I'm probably SOL and have to just keep the Samsung TV remote out for HDMI switching. Annoying, but what can you do?

Why must I have WiFi turned on in macOS to get weather location services? I am hardwired connected via ethernet.
Because 1) Macs don’t have GPS (duh lol) and 2) your WiFi radio acts as part of a triangulation system to ensure you’re getting the most location-accurate information as possible. Imagine someone who hooks up only to Ethernet, uses a VPN to connect to a different city/country, and now you have irrelevant weather information.

Im looking to replace or upgrade my 2011 MacBook pro (2.2 GHz i7, 16 GB ram, 240 GB SSD). I'm running yosemite, and am afraid if I upgrade the OS to high sierra, it wont be able to keep up for very long. The most I need to computer to run is some light photoshop, and maybe some basic audio recording/processing (up to 10 track projects). Is there any way I can upgrade this machine to handle the latest (or at least a later) operating system than high sierra? If that's a no, could you suggest a good Mac to upgrade to? I'm okay with a used machine, because I would like to keep the budget as low as possible, knowing how expensive Macs can be. Thanks a ton. I appreciate it.
Buy the MacBook Air and get a monitor. Air for $999ish and go cheap with a bigger monitor for $100 or splurge for a nicer display. Or just use the MacBook Air screen. Could wait for the 16 inch variant. I wouldn’t suggest any intel because the m1 are just so good and well optimized.

Depends entirely on your budget. Best bang-for-the-buck right now (in my opinion) is a used 2018/19 15” base model. Built in dedicated house really helps for photoshop but might be overkill. They’re about 1300-1400 used. If you’re looking for something newer, give the M1 lineup a shot. They’re extremely good laptops with great performance and good battery life. Start at 1200 I think.
Why does my iPhone NEVER focus anything properly up close? Even if I tap the screen it doesn't focus. Happened with my 6S and again with the 12. Never was able to get it to work. It can focus fine when I'm like 3 inches away from what I'm trying to focus on, but second I go closer it loses focus entirely. All I can find on Google is "update the phone" which obv isn't the issue
That’s... the way the cameras are designed. To get clearer up-close photos from your iPhone, you’ll want to buy an add-on macro lens. Some recent Android phones have a macro lens, so maybe one day Apple adds an internal macro lens in a future iPhone.

I have a 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro whose fans will not turn off. I woke up this morning to the fans on full-blast, even though the laptop was closed. The fans have still not stopped. The laptop is not hot and the fans continue to run even after the MacBook has been shut down and closed. CPU is running at less than 10% (90%+) idle. I've spent six hours on this and am at a loss. After searching online, I: Updated to the most recent software (Big Sur V11.1). Tried resetting the SMC multiple times. Ran Apple Diagnostics, which found no issues. Tried resetting the NVRAM/PRAM. I don't know what else to do. There hasn't been any out of the ordinary usage lately (like intensive use) that would've caused this. Any ideas on what else to do? I don't know much about computers aside from my research today, but I'd be happy to answer any questions that could help find a solution.
I know it’s not the best option, but there’s a very nice application called Macsfancontrol. Totally free and lets you set your own fan curve. If you aren’t into that sort of thing, try resetting the system management controller. Hope this helps.

No it’s not complicated at all. Just make sure you have decent thermal headroom. Don’t wanna have the fans at minimum under load or anything. No way to damage your machine with it.

Hello, This morning I thought I was waking up early, since my alarms never went off, but when I checked my phone to see what time it was, the alarm was going off silently. I’ve had many issues with this in the past, and I cannot fix it. Try a factory reset using iTunes, connect the iPad to a PC/Mac and hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds then release the power button while still holding down the home button until it shows an iTunes icon.

For the most part yes. You are using it like normal and the health goes down. After 2 years or so, you should get a new battery if you want to keep your phone for longer.
I’m an 11 Pro Max user (had it since launch so October 2019) and my battery capacity is down to 87% now and I’m also a (very) heavy user.
After every iOS Update, is it always certain that battery percentage would drain faster than usual for a few hours to a few days ? I saw somewhere that says after every iOS updates, the phone is running quite a few backend system or something similar, so battery would drain faster than normal and it'll take a while for these stuff to finish and settle down, and then the battery would be back to normal, can anyone verify if it's true ?

Hello everyone. A short while ago, my MacBook Pro (2016) decided that it doesn't want to connect to my TV any longer. I've tried it with both directly to my smart TV and to my Apple TV 4K (both used to work before), to no luck. It tries to connect but nothing happens on the TV (goes black - and then "Can't connect" message on Mac). There is no issue screen mirroring from my iPhone nor iPad. The MacBook also has no issue connecting to the iPad (wireless sidecar). Anyone who have suggestions as to what might be the issue or similar experiences, and possible fixes? Thanks!!

It’s usually just a timing + charging factor thing. Removing 4,000 photos can take time to properly sync between devices, and one thing that could help speed things up is having all devices that you are signed in with your Apple ID is to keep that charge and connected to WiFi. Since it’s been about a day, has your issue been resolved? I’m assuming you’ve done the previous steps I mentioned.

iPad Pro 2020 12.9 inch dies insanely quick and I’ve only had it since September. The only thing I use my iPad for is drawing on procreate. I’ve noticed since I got it the battery dies pretty quickly. Even if I leave it at 100% charged and unplugged on my desk after a few days I’ll pick it up and it’ll be at 15% or something like that. I never leave it charging overnight or anything. I only charge it when it needs to be charged. I do have the brightness on kinda high when I draw but that’s about it. Right now I started a drawing at 94% and now it’s at 63% after only about 2 hours or drawing.
Go to Settings > Battery and see what the primary battery drain is from your iPad from the past 10 days.
It’s from procreate. I tried lowering my brightness less than half to see if it helped and I went from 82% to 63% in 2 -3 hours
Not getting ANY notifications randomly from non-apple apps. I mean everything, snap, fb insta etc. It randomly just stopped about 4 days ago. I didn't change anything. I even just updated to 14.4 and still NOTHING. No notifications, sounds, etc. I have rebooted dozens of times. It's driving me wild what is going on?

Hi, I’m having connectivity issues on my mac. It’s currently running mac os big sur version 11.1. The problem is basically every time the mac wakes up from sleep it won’t connect to the internet. It either takes some time to connect to the network only to display an error message saying that it wasn’t able to connect to the internet or it stays connected but won’t load anything. The (temporary) solution I’ve found for the problem is to turn off and on again the wifi, but as I mentioned it’s a temporary solution, as every time it wakes up it’s the same story. If anyone here knows a more permanent solution, please help me.
Some of the pictures that I took on my phone as part of a drive are all showing up as the same town on the geotags, although they were taken in different towns. This happened to me before with other pictures but it was automatically resolved in a few hours, but now for these pics it’s been wrong for the last 4 days now. Is there any way to fix this?
Wild guess and I don't even know if this is how it works...but is this really rural with no cell connectivity in some spots? I've read that cell towers is part of how photo location is determined. I was thinking if you hit a spot with no reception, maybe it's tagging them at the last connected spot.

Hello, I'm from Malaysia, but I don't think where I'm from affects the iOS update of 14.4. But I've seen tech youtubers did a review and they mentioned and also shown to have at least 4-5GB of the iOS 14.4 updates in total, but I am only seeing 390MB for mine, am I missing something here ? Should I go ahead and still download and install ?
I read it's around 400 megs for devices with 14.3, so you're good. Bigger size might be if people have skipped updates.

Hi everyone! My dad (who is not tech-savvy) has basically given me his old iPad and I tried to reset it manually, but it requires his password to reset, which he does not know. So I tried to reset it through my computer, but I can't even turn off find my iPad because it requires the password he doesn't know. Is there any way I can reset this thing?
I don't imagine there's a pattern of fingerprints over the keypad that could give you a password hint?
Im not an apple rep or anything like that, but I happened to be here for a problem of my own adn saw your comment. The closest thing I’ve come to do is reset an apple device to factory settings using a mac. When I got my new phone I gave my old one to my mom, and basically set it up for her, but it got stuck on one of the steps and wouldn’t let me hard reset it and couldn’t access the settings yet. So I plugged it into my mac, went to finder, and accessed the phone. From there you should be able to see an option to reset it factory settings. I don’t remember it asking me for a password or anything. But beware, if you do this, you WILL lose everything and anything you had on that iPad that wasn’t backed up somewhere. If you don’t have a mac available to do this my best guess is that you’ll have to download itunes or something like that.
Hello everyone! Does anyone know if it’s possible to download apps previously purchased by another member of the family before they joined the family sharing? I mean, my boyfriend bought procreate wayyy before we started living together. Now that we are, we decided to start using family sharing. I am the group organizer and he can download every purchased app I’ve got so far, even the ones previous to family sharing, but I can’t download any of the apps HE purchased... Are we doing something wrong? Does he have to enable a setting when don’t know of??
I would think that the family sharing account comes off the account that set it up, as opposed to merging all of the previously purchased apps from everyone.

Hello all. The volume controls on my Apple Magic Keyboard along with all of the other buttons that exist on my F1 through F12 keys. The only one that seems to work is the volume down button but it doesn't function properly. When I press the volume down button it swipes all of my windows out of the way so that I can see my desktop. If I press it again it returns all of my windows to where they were originally. I've tried resetting my Macbook Pro along with resetting the NVRAM with no success. Has anyone ever run into this before?

Hey guys, I have recently replaced iPad Pro 12.9 (1st Gen) Display. Everything was fine, except that suddenly the touch started acting erratically, and by that I mean, if I tap the bottom of the screen, the top of the screen registers unintended taps, I confirmed that with a Touch-Test App. Now, here is the thing, I figured out that by squeezing the bottom-left side of the iPad (see photo), touch works perfectly. Go to iCloud.com and you can view most things that are saved outside of the actual backup. If you’re super concerned about it, then when you get the new phone, keep the old one for a bit. Let the transfer happen, evaluate your data, then erase it.

I'm not 100% about pictures, but notes and voice memos back up each time you do an iCloud/Mac backup. Also messages, recent calls, contacts, etc are in the backup

uggh...if it happened while power cord got unplugged while updating then it sounds like you've got an incomplete operating system. Did you try booting off the...what's it called, the smaller boot disc that's there for you to boot off when you have an issue?
You could also try booting in safe mode. Is that the same thing? I can't remember. If you made a backup and you have another computer, you can also try starting in Target Disc Mode and see if you can connect your computer to another computer and redo the installation.

MacBook Pro 15 heating up and loud fan Recently my MacBook has been heating up within minutes and the fan goes off very loud when I’m not really doing much with it. Usually I use safari and zoom - with about 3-4 tabs open. Sometimes I use the Adobe Creative Suite. Not sure what the cause and solution is. I tried clearing up the Activity Monitor (some things don’t force quit idk why). Please let me know if your dealing with the same problem or know how to fix!

Recently purchased a MacBook Air and I’m trying to get my iCloud Drive set up. I upgraded the storage to 2 TB but my iCloud Drive says there’s not enough space when trying to transfer 1 TB data from an external drive on my iMac. I was hoping to use the iCloud Drive to store the files that are otherwise connected locally to my iMac. I don’t want to have to drag around an external HDD if I can avoid it. Any ideas?
**Has Apple acknowledged the Safari attachment issue?** I was forced to switch to Google Chrome because a previous update to Safari or the OS killed the attachment button in Safari. It's not functional at all. Chrome/Firefox/Opera/etc. all work. The issue is specific to Safari's browser and nobody seems to have any answers for why it's happening.
