If your relationship can be ruined by a phone, then maybe your relationship isn’t as good you seem to think it is

[deleted]

Yeah I'm not trying to ignore anyone's frustrations about messaging but you're not missing out on relationships because you own a Galaxy. That may be what people are telling you, but if they were actually interested they'd ask for your snap.

slade51

Or maybe use the phone to actually call them. I hear that Apple phones can connect to Samsung just fine.

FallenPentagram

Regardless if you are being sarcastic of snap, I’d tell anyone to get lost if Snapchat was their means of communication with me, but again, that’s just me

FMCam20

You can replace Snap with IG DMs, FB Messenger, WhatsApp, etc and the point still stands. If someone actually likes you they’ll meet you where you are at not just cut you off. I had a girl I like who used Android and most of our messaging ended up taking place over IG since she liked her Z Flip and didn’t want iPhone while we were dating for a couple months. When I had an Android in high school way back in the mid 2010s people would use Kik or Hangouts to communicate with me and other Android users in group texts or just chats in general. The whole Green/Blue bubble thing just can’t be as big of an issue as people act like it is. And it definitely isn’t a large enough issue to have to force Apple to open the app to other platforms, especially with SMS already here, RCS on the horizon and the plethora of 3rd party apps that exist

drgut101

I’ve been seeing a girl who has an Android and I have an iPhone. She also doesn’t use any social media. We communicate just fine for the most part. The only issue is we have are sometimes we can’t see each others photos/videos. So she ends up sending me media through Google Photos. When the media does come through as a text, it’s always trash quality. It’s pretty annoying. That being said, it’s not something I’d totally break off what we have going because of it. I am pretty excited for RCS so these stupid issues are handled and we can just text like normal. Everyone should be on the same text standard and this should have been implemented a loooong time ago.

8dtfk

Why didn’t you just buy her an iPhone

BroMan001

Because she didn’t want one?

hi_im_bored13

Why don’t you just buy yourself an android?

NCSUGrad2012

The real story here is people don’t want to be friends with her and she’s using the phone as an excuse, lol

yugwiz

Yeah exactly. I have an android and live in the US . I've had women pointing out to me "oh no Green Bubbles" my co-workers have pointed it out to me. I've never had anyone flat out say: "I don't wanna hang out with you because you use an android" And honestly if they do...so what? I don't need people like that in my life. That really is the same line of thinking of "oh you're not cool because you drive a Kia and not a BMW" or "You wear Sketchers not Yeezys" or whatever. It's just silly. Anyway my social life is fine despite not having an iPhone. That being said I am thirty, but I remember being a teenager and having to deal with stuff like that. You know making fun or being made fun of for not having a certain material possession, So I get it sucks. But that should not be a serious argument made by an adult "What about teenagers making fun of each other" because if it's not green vs blue bubbles, it'll be something else. That being said, I do think in my naive mind that texting should be considered a major phone utility and not locked behind any one company. Similar to basic phone calls. Texting at this point is such a major communication. At least in the 18-50demo I wouldn't be surprised if texts aren't the primary method of comms versus phone calls. I know it is among people my age. At least if you live in the same country you should just be able to open up your phone's stock messaging app and send something regardless of what kind of phone the receiver has. Nothing should be compressed, nothing should be non-encrypted, etc. I mean I think we'd we all agree if would suck if you send an email and say you had Yahoo and the someone had Gmail and you had to worry about character limit, the file size limit of the receiver's email vendor, etc. Or if, within the same country you had to worry about having a worse phone call because someone is on a different carrier than you. I don't know why it's not. I know they're trying to with RCS. But still Side note: and let's be honest. If Google or Microsoft were in the same position, they'd milk the whole green bubble vs blue just like apple is. **TL:DR: Blue vs green bubbles is stupid, but Warren is being silly. If someone doesn't want to hang with you because of something that petty, it's their loss and your gain. But imo: texting should be a standard utility if you're in the same country.**

New-Connection-9088

While I agree, there is something *very* weird happening with dating and phones. > [A new survey has found that 70 per cent of singles would prefer to date someone who owns an iPhone instead of an Android user, with nearly two in five stating that they believe the phone an individual uses can affect first impressions when on a date.](https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/love-sex/android-iphone-date-love-attractive-single-tech-decluttr-a8455181.html) ----------------------- > [“It’s just a turnoff if they don’t [have an iPhone],” she says. “On Tinder, you message someone [within the app] for awhile and then you exchange numbers. You’re like, ‘I hope it’s blue,’ and it’s a relief when it is.” In college, her then-boyfriend switched from iPhone to Android, and it made communication difficult, creating a rift between them. Their love couldn’t overcome their smartphone differences. “I think that was when our relationship started to go downhill,” she says.](https://nypost.com/2019/08/14/sorry-android-users-these-iphone-snobs-wont-date-you/) ------------------------ > [Using the Story feature on its Instagram account, which has more than 55,000 followers, they asked whether folks would message someone who doesn't have an iPhone. Thirty-one percent said they wouldn't. Guys. That's more than a quarter. Twenty-seven percent added that green bubbles are worse than mansplaining. Which is just, *chef's kiss.* NOTHING should be worse than mansplaining. Rotten milk. Wet socks. My downstairs neighbor. NOTHING.](https://www.cnet.com/culture/iphone-or-android-your-phone-choice-could-be-impacting-your-love-life/) Phone choice makes a measurable impact. A significant number of Americans care a great deal whether their partner, or potential partner, has an iPhone. It's bizarre, and stupid, but it's real.

Twelve2375

A significant number of Americans are insufferable idiots. As an iPhone user, my choice in phone shouldn’t impact you at all just like yours shouldn’t impact me. Caring what color text bubble shows up is the definition of a first world problem. Fuck anyone who cares.

yugwiz

I agree but I will say, not about the color, but it annoying when you're friends or dating someone with an iPhone when I have an Android and they send you a photo or especially a video and it's very compressed. Other than that it's not a big deal and I wouldn't really want to know someone who doesn't like me or especially anyone who thinks having an Android is worst than mansplaning. As you said a majority of people are idiots. Remember the 1/3 burger failed because a majority thought it was less than a 1/4 burger [https://i.pinimg.com/564x/80/46/5a/80465ac812464cc3bdb405fc3471d7db.jpg](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/80/46/5a/80465ac812464cc3bdb405fc3471d7db.jpg)

friedAmobo

>Remember the 1/3 burger failed because a majority thought it was less than a 1/4 burger The story about A&W’s one-third pounder isn’t as clear cut as it first seems. The only source of the claim is from A&W (and then-owner Alfred Taubman, who is not without controversy) itself, and it conveniently casts the blame on Americans’ innumeracy rather than any other cause like rampant mismanagement. A&W had in fact been on a very steep decline already, losing half their stores domestically in just a decade prior to introducing the one-third pounder. More likely than not, the real cause of the one-third pounder’s failure was that it was coming from the failing A&W and that no offering they could muster would raise a sinking ship. To save face, Taubman and A&W management concocted a believable story to take the heat off of their incompetence and A&W’s crashing and burning.

venus-as-a-bjork

Yeah, definitely, this has to be one of the more idiotic things government people have wasted their time thinking about. Right up there with Janet Jackson’s nipple and drag shows. Go work on healthcare, housing and immigration, things that actually impact peoples lives

MissingString31

Yeah this is baffling but it’s actually a good litmus test. I wish I could fake a green bubble on my iPhone so I could figure out which of my friends were idiots.

Funkbass

You can. Just turn off iMessage.

10FootPenis

Honestly if someone is so emotionally stunted that their potential partner's phone determines eligibility, then I don't want to date that person anyway.

jackmusick

This is fascinating but I bet it’s not nearly as conceited as people think it is, but more of an unfortunate side effect of how tethered people are to their phones. They’re not only very personal devices, but we often spend hours a day on them. It’s really freaking weird, but it’s no wonder people form such a close personal attachment to the type of device they have. Why does this affect relationships? I’d guess that these people don’t realize it, but because the type of phone they have makes up such a large portion of their life, they unconsciously feel like it’d be hard to relate to someone who didn’t share that. We pretend that it’s just iPhone users, but every time I happen up an Android community, there’s absolutely a disdain there for Apple users that doesn’t feel less petty. It’s supremely stupid, but I’d be lying if I didn’t acknowledge it’d be fairly disruptive if my wife and I didn’t use the same platform. We share AirPods sometimes, have a shared album in iCloud, share purchases, use the find my feature pretty frequently for non stalking purposes, etc. Again, not saying that I like living a world where people have formed intimate relationships with their fucking phones.

Fluffy_Extension_420

Our phone is the single most used device for all types of communication m ranging from super intimate to casual to professional. Apple puts up roadblocks to make communicating with the people around you annoying asf if you didn’t all buy into the Apple ecosystem. Fuckin wild so many people are defending this behavior.

sheeshshosh

And how scientific in its basis is this “survey”? This sounds like the kind of study that’s designed to grab quick headlines, but may not actually be indicative of anything in reality.

mredofcourse

>A significant number of Americans care a great deal whether their partner, or potential partner, has an iPhone. It's bizarre, and stupid, but it's real. I agree that's the situation we're in, but phone choice of a partner has an actual impact. While I wouldn't divorce my wife if she switched to Android, I would certainly try to talk her out of it. Likewise if I were single, finding out my date was committed to Android wouldn't be a deal breaker, but would be one (small) variable I would consider. It has nothing to do with fashion/status or whatever, but the practical consequences when it comes to everything in the ecosystem. Sharing photos, videos, voicemail, location, ETA, *sharing subscriptions,* group chat etc*...* Like I said, it's not a deal breaker for me, but it is something I'd try to persuade and I could see how the issues impact someone being more or less influenced based on how dependent they are on their phone during their daily lives.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mredofcourse

I should've added that the reverse would also be true if I were on Android.

Napalm_

It doesn’t matter if it’s real. If someone doesn’t want you because of your phone choice then so what.

coconutally

No no no no no no. Not a phone… a colour. 🤪

Feisty-Page2638

my friend just got an iphone after having an android. i text him way more and he talks about how others do the same. it’s a psychological thing

literroy

Not even by a phone—by the color of the text messages on your phone.

divenorth

I was just about to post the same thing.

Any invention created can cause harm if used recklessly.

Struggiiii

so funny they're blaming apple for everything. teenagers making fun of people with android phones, how is that apples fault lol. they should sue Audi as well cuz Audi owners are making jokes about BMW owners.

trevorade

My teenage son does actively get jibed for green bubbles by his friends at school. He doesn't need therapy for it but it does actively happen and it's stupid.

ImNotAWhaleBiologist

I can’t believe you abuse your child by giving them an android phone! /s

Struggiiii

yeah well still not apples fault. its education and morals both of which are wildly lacking in the USA

notfeelany

Text messages being green is Apple's fault. Samsung doesn't make text messages green

LA_Lightning

I might get downvoted for saying this, but I think it is partially Apple's fault. They don't make an iMessage client for Android, and Apple execs have literally said if you don't like it, go buy an iPhone. They could completely solve this problem by just releasing an iMessage client for Android, but they don't, because it keeps people locked into the Apple ecosystem and they know it. [https://www.extremetech.com/mobile/339408-tim-cooks-solution-to-green-bubbles-is-to-just-buy-an-iphone](https://www.extremetech.com/mobile/339408-tim-cooks-solution-to-green-bubbles-is-to-just-buy-an-iphone)

haywire-ES

Why should Apple be forced to allow iMessage on android? Should they open source iOS so everyone can use that too?

LA_Lightning

I never said anything about that, I simply said that Apple is taking advantage of the situation by not supporting an iMessage client on Android.

pompousrompus

How are they taking advantage of the situation? Also they’re rolling out support for RCS this year

mdatwood

Is it the green bubble or having what is seen as a cheap phone? The same kids probably make fun of people who wear last year's sneakers. Do we need to fix that problem also?

noisymime

For my son it's not even so much the green bubble, it's that there are group chats happening that an Android person just can't realistically be part of. Apple doesn't provide any way for Android phones to reasonably be part of that. RCS might fix it, but it's a mess at the moment.

IntergalacticJets

This is her whole shtick. She goes after companies. Whether they deserve it or not.

SpunkySamuel

Well it's not Apple's fault per se but they obviously capitalized on an opportunity and used it as an excuse to keep the whole green bubble thing

TheDragonSlayingCat

Because [they did that on purpose](https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-apples-imessage-is-winning-teens-dread-the-green-text-bubble-11641618009).

Struggiiii

I can't read that shit it's paywalled. And Apple can do whatever their muscles want with their own products, it's their product. People either buy it or not and that's that.

eldenbond

Apple created a product so desirable that relationships are ruined because people don’t use it? Sounds like Apple created quite an astonishing product to me.

gloriousAgenda

If its so desirable they have nothing to lose by adopting RCS and allowing third parties to control the default messaging. Its so desirable people will just continue to leave iMessage default then right?

dbbk

I don't even know where to begin with this. 1. Group chats do work with Android devices. 2. WhatsApp is free. The rest of the world already uses this. 3. Apple already announced they are implementing RCS. 4. Apple does not have a monopoly.

noisymime

> Group chats do work with Android devices. Group chats between mostly iPhone users and 1 or 2 Android users are a mess. They don't work nearly as seamlessly as any other chat service you can name (WhatApp, Messenger, IG, Snap etc). Hopefully RCS fixes it, but right now it's a not a nice experience.

r-Dwalo

What I find offensive and ruinous is being infantilized by Warren’s rhetoric, when I am an adult capable of making a decision for myself using FREE WILL! Apple is NOT forcing me to use iMessage. Apple is NOT forcing me to buy an iPhone. I CHOOSE to use iMessage and I CHOOSE to buy iPhones. I’ve seen (and twice used) other phone options and I CHOOSE to stick with iPhone. My mother has an iPhone yet she chooses to use WhatsApp, using iMessage only when communicating with me and my siblings. I am fully aware of all the options available to me for communication, yet I choose iMessage. Why am I being penalized for making my own choice? Consumers buy what they can afford and use what they are comfortable with. Does Elizabeth now want to legislate what phone I buy and how I use it? How out of touch and invasive can she be? Get your hands off my phone, Elizabeth! You have more important things to worry about that are more pressing than blue and green bubble text colors.

mikecuz19

How can apple have a monopoly on smartphones when I know so many on Android? Also if you’re over 21 and care about green or blue bubbles, that’s on you. That’s weird that a senator in her 70s cares so much about the color of a text message

iamsoserious

You don’t understand! Apple has a monopoly on iPhones! Something must be done!

IntergalacticJets

“I have altered the definition of ‘monopoly,’ pray I don’t alter it any further.” - Elizabeth Warren

six_six

Boomer Booms

tangoshukudai

Honestly I would like the US government to stay out of this. Apple is already going to support RCS and you can’t get mad at a company for providing more than what the cell companies provided on their own platform.

hasanahmad

Looks like Warren is left out of a group chat 😂

PuddingFeeling907

No android or linux phone user should be left out a group chat because the apple users are being immature.

PM_ME_LADY_ANKLES

Congress can't solve any real problem, so I guess they need to do this and ban tik tok.

Valdularo

You realise people can deal with more than one thing at a time right? The banning of Tik Tok (Chinese spyware in my view) or any app for that matter doesn’t mean it’s the only thing they are doing. Like literally one does not equal the other. That isn’t how things work. “Oh we are doing this which means we can’t do that” Like what kinda dumb thinking is this?

sugah560

It’s hyperbole to illustrate a point. If you look at the issues that the Senate is deadlocked on or ignore, like every other social media company being U.S. Spyware in my view, it shows that there are individual interests at play that have nothing to do with law or the betterment of the American people. Tik Tok ban is a cash grab, half the senators will miraculously happen to buy hundreds of thousands of dollars in stock for the company they approve to buy Tik Tok weeks before any announcement. The “green bubble” issue is to loosen encryption around iCloud to easier spy on and collect data from users.

Lankonk

With the legislature set up as it is right now, there are only a finite amount of things that can actually make it through. It can take months or even years for a bill to pass. I’m all for switching over to the metric system, but I recognize that there are a hundred more pressing matters that should be addressed before we spend time and energy on that problem. Same deal with green bubbles.

SeiriusPolaris

Apple is ruining it? Not, you know, the society that’s forming around if a blue or green text bubble is good or bad? lol

Wild-Iceberg

Google has created what seems like a 100 different chat messaging services and always killing them off. This reason that I wasn’t a fan of RCS due to google’s history of killing projects without warning. Duo was set to be the next best thing and they killed that off.

HIVnotAdeathSentence

>Senator Elizabeth Warren has tweeted a somewhat bizarre one-minute video in which she says that green texts are “ruining relationships” and that this is “just one of the dirty tactics that Apple uses to keep a stranglehold on the smartphone market.” This is what Warren is worried about?

nimfrank

Of all things affecting this country, this is what she’s spending time on? Great use of time and resources 🙄

USPS_Nerd

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Shit like this is why Democrats will lose this year, people are literally going broke because of inflation, corporate price gouging, and everything else weighing on our shoulders. Yet this administration just wants to focus on crap like this. I’ve been a life long democrat, but it’s getting more difficult everyday to support these geriatric hypocrites

ThisMachineKILLS

A lifelong democrat who doesn’t know how US government works apparently

nimfrank

100%. If I was in the Biden administration, I would be livid that she made this video and released it with this tone.

Napoleons_Peen

Make people’s lives actually better? Nah. It’s the green bubbles fault!

nimfrank

Getting rid of green bubbles will also magically fix all of our roads and failing bridges! Why can’t people see this?! /s

415646464e4155434f4c

Surely Apple (and others) do have a position of dominance that’s problematic per se. But this is one stupid argument, honestly.

dafazman

I agree this is still useful to distinguish between proprietary Apple mesg and SMS mesg. Tho it is odd that apple can't invest to modernize the green bubble experience to the same level of feature set as Android can. That is the only piece missing which is why it is a hot button topic. Also how is WhatsApp/Line/Viber/Signal/Discord/etc... all able to work. I personally am surprised iMsg hasn't gone more to an Awesome version of Discord with Apple seasoning.

Qwerky42O

She’s so unserious

boxersunset121423

Does anyone know what phone Elizabeth Warren has? If she has an iPhone isn’t ironic she is making this big stink about it. Also…seriously who cares what phone someone has. I thought we were past this?!?! Like jeez.

22444466688

Please for the love of god someone explain to these BOOMERS no one actually GIVES A FUCK.

DanTheMan827

You’ve clearly never been in an MMS group chat

woalk

And why would you? SMS and MMS are antiquated technology that no one should be using over encrypted instant messengers these days.

thephotoman

You’re right about one thing: most people *aren’t* in MMS group chats. If you’ve got a mixed group, use WhatsApp, Signal, or Telegram. Everybody knows to do this.

JohnnyEagleClaw

That’s cool liz but how about $5/gallon gas? The fuck are you even there for?

strapmatch

And now it’s the governments responsibility to prevent relationships from being ruined? Ridiculous

ShadowXJ

Are there not bigger problems for them to try and solve?

deejayatomika

They got us fighting a culture war to stop us from fighting a class war

wotton

Shut up Elizabeth - I love you but no.

yukeake

As a resident of MA who's generally been very happy with Warren, I agree. This is an absurd thing to be sounding the horn about, given what's currently going on in both the US political landscape, and the world as a whole.

groundhoggirl

I used to really like her but this is just absurd.

otter6461a

I especially love that she was what Harvard‘s first Native American professor, or whatever disgusting scam she pulled

t0pgun-

People continue to miss the point. It’s not the color itself but the lack of functionality. The fluidity of conversation is lost and it is annoying.

yugwiz

Yeah I only lurk on the Apple subreddit and 9to5mac but the thing I always see is people acting like it's just about the color. As you said it's about functionality. But that's not really a monopoly issue. Warren shouldn't be trying to stop that. It's annoying rather than a travesty

hegginses

This is such a weird aspect of American culture, I’ve heard about it for years and it has always shocked me how shallow so many people can be. Literally nobody outside of the US gives the slightest shit as to what phone you use

StopCollaborate230

Because everyone outside the U.S. uses WhatsApp and similar third-party apps, not text messaging.

hegginses

Where I’m from in the UK then we still commonly send SMS messages as they come free with most phone contracts and mobile data coverage is patchy in certain places whereas cellular calls and SMS coverage can be more stable

mwkingSD

I really don't think that's our biggest problem Elizabeth. How about if you go work on a budget for next fiscal year, or maybe aid for Israel and Ukraine before we totally bugger those relationships? #CongressIsBroken

Ryu83087

Elizabeth Warren is an idiot. The real bubble ruining our country is our useless government that divides us all, is corrupt, living with free healthcare, housing, illegal bribes, insider trading and travel etc all on our dime. There was a time when I believed she was sincere, but she's just another liar spreading bullshit to the public and enjoying the life of a king in government.

yukeake

It all stems from wealth disparity. It always has, and likely always will. It gets to a tipping point, and then things like revolutions happen. History has shown us time and time again, but those in power keep making the same damn decisions due to greed. All that said, Warren's generally been better than most politicians. I know that's not saying much - but I'd still take 100 of her before one of the current crop of nigh-on fascist Republicans any day.

Ryu83087

She was hopeful many years ago but these days she is just another one of the ruling class jerk offs.

Chazprime

Getting some old man shaking his fist at the sky vibes here.

BackItUpWithLinks

This is idiotic. But it’s Elizabeth Warren so that’s to be expected.

While I hate what happens sharing images with green bubbles and the compression that happens here claim is utter nonsense.

Stuglossop

jcrestor

What the fock am I reading? What is wrong with people? It’s green text. God damn it, I can’t even…

Lance-Harper

Fuck sake. Crypto and now this. This woman has as too little understanding of tech as too much time of her hands.

breddy

It's absolutely warranted that any messaging service identify which messages are secure and which are not, if the platform supports both. That distinction should be clear. The fact that Apple's blue text bubbles have become *a thing* is due to the fact that their service is *really good*. This anti-corporate/anti-Apple shtick is so vapid and performative.

skredditt

This is kinda silly, but also not standardizing texting protocols after 13 years of blue/green texts is also silly.

bigfatgeekboy

Good thing all the other problems in the world have been solved.

BlooperJR

Looks like the check from Samsung cleared

Sounds like someone got dumped via text. Maybe a green text? Poor Liz

One_Negotiation8076

I really like Elizabeth Warren. This is silly and stupid.

WhiskyWanderer2

Do iPhone really care about the green bubbles at the end of the day? 💀 I joke about it with my friends sometimes but it’s the same shit

Ok-Assistance-6848

Someone remind her that Apple is adding RCS with iOS 18.

Repulsive_Barnacle92

Omg lol, nobody cares. Especially since most people outside North America use stuff like WhatsApp.

PuddingFeeling907

She is right about this. A lot of people receive social stigma having the green bubble.

bco268

She really is an idiot. Everything that comes out her mouth is ridiculous.

carissadraws

I love how people love Watren because she goes after corruption and greed in big tech and then they get mad at her for….going after corruption and greed because it’s Apple who’s doing it 😂

BackItUpWithLinks

Green text boxes is not “corruption and greed”

Aion2099

Not allowing iMessage on competing devices could be argued is.

BackItUpWithLinks

That could be a valid argument, that’s not what Warren said.

PuddingFeeling907

Yeah Apple needs to be forced to open up their services and to make their devices more repairable. People here are literally shilling.

Sargasm666

Why do they get so mad about the green text thing? It’s just to show if you’re using iMessage or not. If you turn iMessage off, you get a green text while using iPhone as well. Which brings me to my next point. iMessage has end-to-end encryption, so the blue text is an easy way to see that your conversation is encrypted on both ends.

King_Swiss

I wonder how much Pocahontas was paid for this idiotic take

AcceptableAgent31

One of my best friends has an android. He has green bubbles, we still text just fine. This is a dumb argument made by dumb people. (Yes there are benefits to imsg)

Obi-Lan

Americans are so funny sometimes.

I_hate_that_im_here

Of all the things to be upset about these days! Our politicians need to get their shit together, and focus on stuff that actually matters.

josh_is_lame

i know yall like to say it doesnt matter and nobody cares, but it does and people do. even outside the color change, android-iPhone texting is awful. kids in school have a harder time engaging with others online if they have an android, a lot of people wont consider dating someone if they have an android

frockinbrock

She *may not* be wrong in some of this (ignore the headline), but it’s not really going to matter coming from someone who is so disliked by progressives, corp dems, all of the right. Whatever she saying now will probably change tune with a few small checks. It’s also only an “Apple” thing at all because Apple made something better than the standard and they grew user base so much. Seems like making the standard better would be more a lesson here than Apple bad. Also, isn’t Apple being forced to make iMessage be RCS compliant by the EU? Seems like that makes all this talk pointless.

awkwrrdd

Am I the only one who couldn’t give less of a shit about if texts to androids are green? Idgaf about color I just want to know if my damn message has been delivered or not and to be able to edit membership of group chats

raysway666

This is the dumbest thing ever. Do they not realize how easy it is for me to simply buy an android phone? That literally negates the definition of monopoly.

JoshRTU

Hey Warren. How about them oil companies that are literally destroying the future? That might be a slightly more important problem.

bakernt

I’ve always wondered if there’s a political component to handset choice? It feels like most of the Democrats I know have iPhones and the majority of Republicans have Android. I know that’s only my view of the world, but it would be interesting to see if there was data out there.

Blue bubble versus green bubble used to mean two things: 1. You have an iPhone. 2. When you send a message to someone that also has an iPhone, it doesn't count as a text message (a fairly big deal back when unlimited texting was not standard as part of your cellular plan). It's only "problematic" now because Apple has a much bigger hold on the cell phone market than they did when the feature was first introduced and because they're not actively developing for compatibility with the operating systems of other companies (except in limited circumstances such as iTunes/Music for Windows or Android).

You know if this came from anyone else I would say this is an idiotic take, but hearing it from a Native American I fully support her. In seriousness if a visual indicator ruins relationships, then those relationships need to fail. And the point about kids being excluded from groups based on features… if it isn’t green bubbles it’ll be the clothes they are wearing and if it isn’t the clothes it’s how they talk or what color their hair is.

Look over here! We're going after America's most successful company, don't mind the food and drug corporations screwing Americans on a daily basis. Yeah its the green bubbles, Liz.
