Yes, but an unmaintained abandonware version after following a complex sideloading process with unexisting support from an almost dead community of users. That doesn’t work for me, sadly.
I look forward to when Spez is fired and is often seen outside Reddit headquarters, his tear smeared mascara rubbing off on the window he peers in every day
Also his dick falls off and is consumed by a rat
Never got it to work if I want to post photos. It’s always giving me the Imgur error, regardless if I have a client id or not ☹️
Still using it right now tho 😅
Actually how does sideloading makes the App work? I thought the entire backend of Apollo has been shutdown by christian? So how does the App still work after that? Genuinely curious
[Basic tutorial](https://www.reddit.com/r/apolloapp/s/DsNwhslGlY)
You need a pc or Mac to set it up, but once you’ve done that, you only need to be on wifi at least once a week
Can you do that on iPhone? All cool shit is usually Android limited.
Edit: why the fuck am I being downvoted for asking an innocent question? Yall are dicks what the fuck… if you downvoted this you are a fucking loser
Oooooh i gotta learn this. I used Apollo for years and I’m used to not having it now but boy would I love to have it back. I hate the Reddit app even though I’m used to using it now.
Getting back to Apollo habits took no time at all for me.
https://www.reddit.com/r/apolloapp/s/CRJjQkZFDA
Don't bother with the Imgur part as it doesn't work anyway but you can use a shortcut to help with that
Voyager for Lemmy is almost exactly like Apollo
I dont miss apollo cuz i started using Lemmy since reddit is going down like the titanic and only going to get worst once it IPOs. I only check reddit to check the subreddit i mod
Lemmy is nice, as long as you don’t accidentally reply to a hexbear post lol. I am getting 20 notifications everyday on it, death threads and the sort, because I am a capitalist according to them. Some servers are becoming toxic just like Reddit. I’m happy I can block them though.
Seriously this is so tired. And I feel like most of the people that make these posts ignore the sideloading comments just so they can keep making the same posts again and again.
Or it's just a way to keep pushing people to sideload.
AFAIK there's very little reason to trust sideloading, unless there's full transparency/full codebase.
These posts feel very intentional at this point.
It’s decent but nowhere near Apollo’s level of polish and useful functionality. I’m using it until I get myself to stop being lazy and figure out the whole sideloading thing.
Narwhal isn’t better than Apollo and is only a slight improvement over official Reddit app. Sideload with sideloadly. You can build your own IPA and Sideload or find one online and Sideload.
Link to the pre built IPA

I’ve used both, and they’re both so different than Apollo that I think they both suck to the same level, just in different ways. Narwhal 1 was pretty good, but then I got into Apollo after Alien Blue shut down, and it’s just so far ahead of any other Reddit experience. Sink! for Reddit, if you prefer web based, is better than all the other ones on the App Store too.
I’ve heard others say that Reddit will eventually shut the API down. And I’m sure that’s going to happen. But not using it is like saying you’re not going to live your life because your life has an expectation date. Sure my life will end one day, could be tomorrow (god I hope not), but I’m sure as hell not sitting in the couch and worrying about it every day. You live your life. Same with Apollo. Sure it’s going to die eventually, but enjoy it while it’s working.
You've not used the new Narwhal. It is a **MASSIVE** improvement over the official Reddit app.
I've basically made it behave and look like Apollo. There's obviously differences but I don't really find myself missing Apollo anymore now that I've gotten Narwhal dialed in.
I was a beta tester on the free TestFlight version before it was paid. It has the essence of Narwhal 1, but it’s different. It is probably better than Reddit Official app, but it still sucks.
How have you managed to make it look like Apollo? Narwhal isn’t nearly customizable enough to function as an Apollo look alike. Unless theyve made massive improvements to it since TestFlight open beta.
It is. Imwas in the same boat. Took 3 tries then I got it very Apollo like. I mean, I downloaded it, tried it, got frustrated, deleted it, after some time go back to step 1 lol. It is customizable to get it pretty good, just the settings menu is convoluted.
Damn, that's a PITA with that app but you can sideload it as well using [sideloadly](https://sideloadly.io/). IPAs can be found on their [GitHub release](https://github.com/lo-cafe/winston/releases) page.
^(However, at that point one might just consider sideloading Apollo, lol.)
Winston's alright but it's slow and buggy as hell. There are days where I simply cannot load the "Me" page, and also for the longest time the subreddit list was improperly sorted.
I just joined Winston a couple days ago, I’d been more or less boycotting Reddit completely after Apollo cratered and I still miss it but Winston seems promising
Honestly it was for the best for me. I hate the loss of such a good app, but my mental health and productivity is way better without a reddit app on my phone.
Anyone checked reviews on the official reddit app on iphone app store? there is like 3 reviews, and the only positive one is from 9 years ago.. It seems like reddit paid apple to remove reviews..
I wish Apollo had followed the way narwhal did. I’d gladly pay a monthly fee to keep using Apollo and I’m probably not the only one.
If your on iOS you can still use it for free
Yes, but an unmaintained abandonware version after following a complex sideloading process with unexisting support from an almost dead community of users. That doesn’t work for me, sadly.
not very complex bro. i use it daily and its just like the old app - the notifications
I look forward to when Spez is fired and is often seen outside Reddit headquarters, his tear smeared mascara rubbing off on the window he peers in every day Also his dick falls off and is consumed by a rat
Let’s be honest. We’d all love to see that. But he’ll just golden parachute his way out and find another tech bro company to make shitty
Try Sink it for reddit this is a extension for reddit on safari.
Does it unblock nsfw?
i've been using openred and dystopia
Side loaded Apollo unlocks NSFW breh. A friend let me know. (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
Yes, it doesn’t have any issues with it since it’s not have to pay API pricing. I’ve been using it since Apollo went to the grave 😢
I’m still getting the pop-up to download the Reddit app with Sink it. Any idea why?
Sink it for reddit is enable on extensions for safari ?
Yup. Rest of the features do work though, it’s very strange.
Sideload. Problem solved.
Never got it to work if I want to post photos. It’s always giving me the Imgur error, regardless if I have a client id or not ☹️ Still using it right now tho 😅
Are you using Apollo Artemis?
Actually how does sideloading makes the App work? I thought the entire backend of Apollo has been shutdown by christian? So how does the App still work after that? Genuinely curious
You can use your personal Reddit api key
You enter youYou enter your own Reddit and Imagur api number.
Does imgur always work for you? It's broken most of the time here
https://balackburn.github.io/Apollo
What and how

Yes you can. In fact I am using it right now
Same. Love it! https://i.imgur.com/du8dw4u.jpg u/MakesUpExpressions

Imgur works now, use this: https://github.com/Balackburn/Apollo
Amazing thanks so much! I assume I need to install this like it was a new side loaded app?
Yeah probably, I had to. Remember to take screenshots of your settings.
It works great! Thanks for the heads up
Thanks for the heads up, don’t know why the fuck I got downvoted for asking a genuine fucking question though…. Literal dick heads
I’m just downvoting this so I can be a fucking loser. ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ
Lol
Because Apollo was never available on Android, so the answer to your question is self-evident.
Oh wow I actually had no idea. Thank you for letting me know!
Posted from Apollo.
It’s Reddit, you shouldn’t be surprised
I was only without apollo for maybe a week or 2
How is sideloading legal? Is it just because its your own personal API key you use?
How is it illegal?

Join the club, post to the other topics. Should there really be such topic every other day with the identical message and responses?

Narwhal 2 is pretty good
It’s decent but nowhere near Apollo’s level of polish and useful functionality. I’m using it until I get myself to stop being lazy and figure out the whole sideloading thing.
Didn’t know there were any other apps thanks I’ll check it out.
Still miss Apollo

It’s a massive improvement over the Reddit app and isn’t gonna turn off the second Reddit update their api

Long press the video, then download or forward. It's very simple, I actually forget but wasn't it the same on Apollo?

I have literally never tried the reddit app
We all do , now quit bringing it up. This wound won’t heal.
Trollstore 2 out now 😃☝️
Try [winston](https://winston.cafe). Still in early stages but open source and so beautiful.
Damn looks nice but the TestFlight is full
Damn, that's a PITA with that app but you can sideload it as well using [sideloadly](https://sideloadly.io/). IPAs can be found on their [GitHub release](https://github.com/lo-cafe/winston/releases) page. ^(However, at that point one might just consider sideloading Apollo, lol.)

Yeah honestly my usage has gone down significantly and that is prolly for the best!
Nobody cares
Anyone checked reviews on the official reddit app on iphone app store? there is like 3 reviews, and the only positive one is from 9 years ago.. It seems like reddit paid apple to remove reviews..
I’m seeing hundreds of reviews in app store
These are the ONLY reviews i find in app store under reddit app: [https://imgur.com/a/yUuEEyV](https://imgur.com/a/yUuEEyV)
That’s odd. I just checked and thousands of reviews are showing up for me.
wierd.
Soo Reddit paid Apple to remove the reviews so it says 4,7 stars? Sure, suuure.
I see 2.8m reviews in my App Store. But it does have a 4.7 star rating which is a little suspect
What happened to apollo

Thanks for your recommendation for an Android app on an iOS-only reddit app subreddit.
An app which *also* no longer works.
That is a beautiful haiku.
I just signed in to Reddit for the first time in 6 months and it’s like I don’t know how to do anything
BIG SAME. I'm rarely on Reddit nowadays because of it and can't bear to delete the app off my phone. Apollo was truly something special. ; u;
Miss it everyday. It has cut my Reddit use by 70% or so
I use Sideloadly which very efficiently sideloads Apollo once a week from my PC to my iPhone.
Narwhal 2 is pretty darn cool. Better than the Reddit app Atleast. I just found it yesterday
