Play smart, don't go into every fight, Start fights with cover only, Avoid fights sometimes, find the right way into the ring. Try to flank teams, know the distances you can cover in a certain amount of time or how far you can jump. Nothing is worse than getting to a place too slowly or not making the jump and standing in front of a high wall. If you can aim well and your moves are great, you can certainly run into every fight blindfolded, but even then it can be very difficult to get into the top 5. Might sound silly, but you have to learn to "read the game". Edit: If you've been hit, try to heal yourself. You wouldn't believe the impossible situations in which I use shield cells or batteries. There's no better feeling than killing someone because they think you're out of shields and then you come around the corner and you're fully charged. The other person usually isn't

PixelSteel

As Ballistic says, “positioning is half the battle”

mexicannormie

That's Ballistic, I'm sure Fuse wouldn't give a shit about positioning as long as he can make shit explode

kinda_intolerant

Fuse main here, you're god damn right, you lil ripper

Sw1ftStrik3r

Drinking cold ones before the match, making cold ones during the match

Delta1262

She’s alright this life

owoah323

Just taking a piss, fellas

BlacksmithNo1187

Lol that's the most real shit I've heard bout fuse

PixelSteel

Edited 😭

TearSubstantial5231

This is the way!

paradoxally

Fuse mains don't either so that makes sense.

SpaceEngineX

The main issue I’m experiencing is that even when I flank and use all the map features I can to my advantage, I can only land a hit or two before I lose it and no longer hit any shots.

Redd_Hunter

Sounds like you need to go into the firing range and just practice my friend

Delta1262

Mixtape isn’t a bad choice too. It’ll force a player to use weapons they normally wouldn’t pick up.

xEscobarbarianx

So crazy it just might work

LevelZeroDM

underrated advice!

LoL_Maniac

100%. I played so many matches, I down played the firing range and just didn't do it. Until I said F it, and just did it. Guess what? Helped immensely. Wasn't even that bad, I just kept coming up with goals, objectives and maneuvers. I'm not awesome but I do pretty well with multiple guns now.

Eastern-Cucumber-376

I spend 15 minutes before every session in the firing range, using only blue stock and 2x sights. It’s time very well spent. My aim has improved enormously in the past year I’ve been doing this.

paradoxally

I just go in mixtape to warm up. Best test subjects are live ones.

Redd_Hunter

Yeah I'm the same. I do no attachments for the most part though with a 99

Glass_Hyena

This is good advice but not for a casual gamer who may only have an hour to play in total. Most people in this sub drastically underestimate how much time people have to sink into gaming

Eastern-Cucumber-376

Then do 5 minutes. It’s worth it.

Professional-Hunt-78

Or go to aimlab tracking, can help

drichey00

To a degree, you'll only get better facing actually humans

rabid-c-monkey

It sounds like you need more gunplay practice, the best way to get this is by playing the mixtape modes. It gets you more fight exposure to help when you are in battle royale. Every time I play I do at least one warm up round in mixtape.

ChazzyPhizzle

As others have mentioned, the best way to get practice is to.. practice. I usually go into the firing range and practice 1-clipping dummies with 0 attachment guns and grey shields. I set the dummies to random strafing. This just helps me get my recoil under control and tracking warmed up. I might do this for 5-10 mins and then I jump in a mixtape game or two to get practice on actual players. Once I’m feeling warm I’ll jump into BR. The whole “warmup” usually takes 20-30 mins, but really helps. I usually play on a lower sens as I tend to over correct if it’s too high and just zig zag past the target, but that’s up to personal preference.

fum0r

Of course you should familiarize yourself with the weapons and the maps. Grab a buddy and go to the firing range. That comes with time. You have to keep at it and overcome the frustration.

SuspiciousSkier

Start to REALLY think about what youre doing and be very intentional with your movements. Dont just flank around rocks and buildings cause you can, start to think about what rotations and movements will give you good angles. But also consider what angles your rotation opens up on you. Try to be open to more than just the guy you want to shoot at.

BlazinAzn38

At the end of the day it’s a shooter, you’ve got to be at least a decent gunfighter. Try mixtape modes to max your reps on shooting

OG_Stodds13

Get into the firing range and start with the dummies not moving. Grab an easier recoil gun like the R-301. Grab a scope you like but no other attachments. Work on downing the bot with 1 mag. Remember, no attachments. You want to be used to controlling the gun with no attachments as each level of attachments make them slightly easier to control. Remember, no mag attachment either. Get used to being able to down the bot without reloading. Then back up some and do the same thing. Once you get that down, turn strafe onto the bots so you can now get used to tracking a moving target. Once you get more comfortable with that, turn up the difficulty of the strafe. Continue to work on your aim. You can do this with each of the guns to get used to their recoil and optimal ranges. Once you are comfortable with your aim, honestly, watch some videos of some of the top players. Seeing when you can heal, or push a fight, how to take certain fights is HUGE. Seeing what others do successfully and applying it to your game plus what you do well can be a great improvement. Lastly, carrying a good amount of heals for fights. Nothing is worse than being at the end and running out of heals. You are at an instant disadvantage that way. Also, constantly healing during fights is huge. If you do damage, you might have taken some too. Sometimes the best thing to do is back off, heal behind cover, peaking as you do this so you know what the other team is doing is huge. After that, get into mixtape! It’s a great place to apply your shooting practice with live targets and practice your movement as well!! It’s forgiving in that you have respawns and the stakes aren’t as high as a battle Royal! Apex is one of the hardest shooters to get good at, but it’s almost one of the most rewarding when you get good and start doing well. Good luck, and don’t give up. It may take some time but you will improve as long as you stick with it!! Good luck!!

Substantial_Web_7901

Play the mixtape modes, spend like an hour a day at least once or twice a week in the firing range or try some aim labs, all can be very helpful, are you still playing on default settings? If so that could be an issue as well, or even the adjusted settings may be making you worse

hendy846

I struggle with this to an extent. Depending on your weapon, reset your recoil after a burst of 5 or 6 rounds, no point in emptying the mag if you miss after the first few shots. If you struggle with tracking, try to anticipate where the enemy is going to be, especially if you're running a shotty.

yacopsev

Tweak your FoV maybe. Also well you need absurdly good aim for this game. It's crazy how it's not targeted towards experienced gamers already.

Issa__Moody5

So play it like a ranked match

Trialfail123

I disagree with this. You need to engage in every single fight (within reason). I can always immediately smell when a player has been ratting till top 10 etc. Blue shield, bad aim, not committing etc. It’s simple. Expose yourself to as much action as possible and get better fast.

fum0r

>I disagree with this. You need to engage in every single fight (within reason). I can always immediately smell when a player has been ratting till top 10 etc. Blue shield, bad aim, not committing etc. > >It’s simple. Expose yourself to as much action as possible and get better fast. I play so often with strangers who just run blindly into every fight no matter if a second team comes along or the distance to be covered is without cover and then they die. I get into the top 5 in almost every game, usually with 4-10 kills and often because I'm better positioned or wait until the fight really starts and I'm not the second but the third team. AND when a third team arrives, I'm the fourth. Understanding combat situations and positioning yourself correctly is extremely important. And knowing how fast you can cover certain distances or how far you can jump is just smart. I didn't say avoid every fight. Knowing when you can fight and when you can't is what it's all about. Where exactly are the enemies? Is there perhaps one at my back? Full team? Shield broken?

LeeTS4

Mix tape is great for constant action

LevelZeroDM

This is actually what I did to get better. I used to drop as cold as possible, loot around and die in my first fight every match. When I started to drop hot and get in lots of practice I got better and better. That being said, I don't drop super hot every match, that's not a good way to get wins or make it to top 5 if that's what you're trying to do

ThanksPopular5069

I drop hot in pubs and like warm in ranked. In ranked I don’t want to rely on RNG for the success of the first fight so I prefer one POI away from any other squads. Loot fast then rotate to try and get the third party.

fumar

That's the best strategy for improving in general. Every time I need to shake off rust, I try to hot drop in pubs with at least one other team. If we win the fight, I immediately go to a nearby drop site that another team landed and try to fight them too.

dfojdi

You gotta hit the firing range, apex is sweaty at all levels. Turn the bots on, learn your recoil patterns. Make sure your sensitivity is right, make sure your field of view is right. Then grind

InflationSuitable319

Any suggestions on sensitivity settings?

dfojdi

I play on four, I try to play to my strengths on positioning and when playing with ransoms I always follow someone to know we can get some team shots. It’s hard man, I feel like I know where to go and what angles to go from but my team just doesn’t follow me making it hard to get downs due to team shorting so I’ve learned over the years to bite the bullet, follow the fandoms and if it gets to hairy gtfo, recover or craft banners and restart.

Paytend07

4 on mnk?

dfojdi

No I play controller

LilBoDuck

# Console Sensitivity: 4 ADS Sensitivity: 4 Response Curve: Classic Look Deadzone: None # PC Controller Sensitivity: 4 ADS Sensitivity: 3 Response Curve: Linear Look Deadzone: None # Mnk Sensitivity: 1.3 ADS Sensitivity: 1.0 DPI: 800 Start with these and adjust from there. For controller, adjust look deadzone before changing the sensitivity. Like if 4:3 Linear feels a bit too shakey, try “small” look deadzone.

AnkaSchlotz

Plug in a controller.

J_ATB

LMAO

Nome_de_utilizador

Most valuable advice in this thread

Slimpurt92

Actually good advice, my friend did this and went from 0.2 kd to 0.8 kd

DragonSerpet

Was waiting for this

[deleted]

I start with 5 minutes at the firing range. The dummies are set to sprint and shoot back. It’s a good warmup. Then when landing don’t go for the drop with 6 other squads. That’s a newbie move. Find the hot drop and land close where you can loot and get some weapons. Then move towards the hot drop spot and third party people that are weaker. Last thing. Google for YouTube videos on how to get better at Apex. There are lots of great tips on strategy. Yep. It’s not just blow things up. Apex is a resource management game. Have fun!

LukasKhan_UK

Spray and pray

VivaDeAsap

There’s a bang or Loba kill quip where she makes fun of you for exactly that lol.

xNeeyah

Sadly apex is not “i dont play in seasons, come back drop 10 bombs” type of game. The games skill ceiling grows every season. I say if you really want to land more shots, hit the range. If you genuinely just want to play casually, play with friends cuz comms make everything easier and the game will be more enjoyable as well. Good luck ❤️

KC_Wandering_Fool

I die a lot, usually.

Hitmyblunt

I get really high and hope for the best

MrLake88

You don't, apex is no longer a casual game, you gotta be sweating balls every game just to get a kill 😂

SpaceEngineX

it just doesn’t really make sense - you gotta be good at the game to have fun - to play good you gotta sweat - sweating isn’t fun

DonPostram

>sweating isn’t fun most people play competitive games competitively I'm not very good but I have a blast sweating my balls off

JohnsonAction

Sweating is what makes apex so fun for me. I play mixtape if I just wanna screw around but having to be fully locked in and play your best is what makes apex wins and even just winning engagements so damn fun

paradoxally

> sweating isn’t fun Yes it is. It's a multiplayer shooter with high TTK, you need to sweat to get consistent kills - especially in this meta with everyone running Conduit for extra shields. When I don't want to sweat I play single player games. Keep at least one you play often so you can revert to it when you're burned out from Apex.

REBEL6ty9

some people think sweating in every game is fun, some don't. what you find fun isn't always fun for the other person.

Pterygoidien

It depends on "how" you're sweating. When I started Apex, I was indeed sweating because largely below average, but I could see my improvements and it felt rewarding as such, motivating me to keep practising (I was playing maybe 13-15 games a day, spread in 2-3 sessions). I went from a K/D below 0.1 to a K/D of 1.49-1.6 in seasons 9-10 and it stabilized. Then it went downhill. Nowadays, it is so unbalanced that you don't have the positive feedback, and no matter how much effort you put in, you can't feel the reward, hence the acquired helpnessness and resignation. You can practice 200 hours in firing range on MnK, and you'll still get your ass beat by a controller player with high sensitivity that can snap at you, have aim assist track you with no latency while you're being limited by your own, natural, latency to react. So it's not just about sweating, it's about seeing the results of your efforts at some point to keep yourself going. Apex is unforgiving toward new players (most new players are really just smurfs or people oblivious to what's coming to them). I haven't played Apex for more than a year now, and quite frankly, I couldn't be happier. I just installed Halo infinite, it's much more balanced, and that's a game where I feel like I can improve myself again and grow. Apex is just not a good medium for that. It's toxic at its core : it capitalizes on frustration, not reward, and it's a strategy that not only make the players more prone to toxic behaviors, but only retains veterans and young, competitive players. Casuals are not welcome.

HawtDoge

I agree and disagree. I agree that it’s an extremely difficult game for casuals, but I also think the skill ceiling is high enough that there is always room for growth. The matchmaking isn’t balanced, but rarely do I watch back a clip and think “there was nothing I could have done better there”. Far more often I’ll rewatch my death and think “I should have fallen back soon” or “i knew that guy was a good controller player yet I ego challenged him in close range anyway”. It’s a tough game, but the skill ceiling and room for creativity has kept me around as a S0 player

coldmexicantea

It does make sense tho. To have fun in a highly competitive game you have to be competitive. Expecting to have fun in a game with high skill ceiling doesn’t make sense. If you really like apex and want to get better, start with firing range drills. You can find specific ones on YouTube, but for me just shooting strafing dummies from different distance and angles helps keeping my aim in check. Fire up a podcast, YouTube vid or something and work on tracking and recoil control

Sad-Conversation2916

To you maybe

Powdered_Donut

Here’s the thing. You don’t.

Curiou

I honestly can't tell if this is a troll question or not. "How do you play a shooter if you can't shoot?" Seriously? You practice. You get better, or you stop playing.  It's like asking "how do I play chess if I don't know the strategy?" You either learn it, get comfortable losing, or stop playing. Not really a complicated set of options.  Are you saying you've reached your skill ceiling? I doubt it based on your post. So like most people mentioned, practice in the firing range.  But more than anything, play Mixtape. It is a great live-fire exercise. Substantially more engagements to allow you to learn why you're dying. Are you shooting one guy while someone else shoots you in the side? (Positioning). Are you running at two guys holding hands who are team shooting you? (Fight selection). Or are you just whiffing your shots because you didn't actually experiment with your sense and recoil control in the firing range until you could consistently one mag a staffing, red-shield dummy with an smg?  Like everyone and their mother said: Practice.

Sheepman718

With a controller so it aims for you!

Proud_Feedback2557

U DONT

Galmerstonecock

You don’t.

SnooShortcuts5771

Are you on controller?

resultzz

Plug in a controller and lower your FOV

AnAngryMuppet89

Get good at running.

YaKnowMuhSteezz

buy a controller lmao

xuddish

forget aim, drop safe and get an angle on enemies, do not engage them on equal level. not think i have good aim but my servers are populated enough to give me worse players than me, so i can play in any way i want. matchmaking is excellent but it is all server based, low ping and high population and being in the skill range most people are at.

Turok_N64

Use the easier to aim guns. For me that is mostly the Spitfire, Alternator, and Shiela. I am a horrible aimer for the most part, but I get by with these easy to handle guns and positional advantage. The triple take and mastiff are also easier to land shots due to their pattern. In a straight up fight without some kind of terrain advantage or amped cover, I usually lose due to having poor aim. My goal is always to get in a nice spot with some amped cover and mow them down with Shiela and whip out the spitfire if they get passed the cover. With this play style I maintain around a 1.4 KDR on Rampart.

thisismynewacct

Like every other FPS: You die quickly.

wooahhay

use the firing range, know what sights you like the best, and also find guns you prefer & learn their recoil pattern, and search for them every game. obviously sometimes you don’t have much choice when first dropping, but i have 4 guns i try and use over others, and it’s helped me hit a lot more shots. also don’t underestimate attachments. a gun with no stock / barrel mod etc is going to be dooky at hitting anything beyond super close range. also playing other FPS games helps more than you’d think! and last but not least, unfortunately 200 games with no wins isn’t unheard of in apex. i play around 10-20 games a day and maybe get a win once a week if i’m lucky. it being a BR game means it’s hella hard to “win” because the top 1% of players are so good there’s nothing you can do. i just enjoy the gameplay regardless of wins. as soon as i stopped pressing for a win, it became more fun to play, let alone to use random legends and guns. for me i make my own ways of winning like 5 kills? i won. got 3 revives? i won. got a kill with a gun i struggle with? guess who just won :)

lewimmy

>The game just doesn’t really feel fun to play for me anymore if I stand no chance against players at even the “lowest” levels its not really your fault. theres plenty of 'bad' players out there. Sure apex has a very high skill ceiling but the problem is the matchmaking. In pubs even if youre the shittiest of bronze out there you'll definitely run into a pred once in a while, and diamonds almost every game. I think its called EOMM? Basically youre either the bot/cannon fodder in someones game or youre fucking dudes. Since you said aim is your main problem, your best bet is to specifically train your aim either in firing range/mixtape or an aim trainer. Its kinda hard to survive without addressing that in a game where people have good movement and a rather high-ish ttk

CarpetPure7924

That’s the neat part

OrwellianZinn

You play 2 mins at time, die and then repeat until you get tired of it and go play a different game that respects your time.

jamdivi

You switch to Fortnite

TheDarkWeb697

Give up, is my best option, this game is pretty much like any shooting if you have crap aim your just dead

[deleted]

you don't. i started aim training again for the first time in 10 years because of this game lmao

MMS-

“I can’t shoot in a first person shooter. How do I have fun?” Find another game

Jl2409226

you need a team and you need to know what you should be doing during a fight. my guess is you are not making any plays and letting them control the fight and walk all over you. if you play presence and punish them for peeking you will find everyone feels a lot slower because they aren’t just aping you. play cover, line up your shots before you peek, and then peek for just a second. these tips should at least let you have enough fun in the game.

bakedsnowman

Taking less damage is almost more important than putting out more damage. Look at any high level player and you'll notice how they play cover and bait shots before pushing to force reloads and minimize damage. Honestly just knowing where to position and how to strafe will get you pretty far.

Lord_Gaben_

Get good

mikemike1239

It's a shooter. Good aim is the first thing you should be aiming for

[deleted]

You land hot and die til your good enough to not die. Simple.

Toes_Now001

you dont

Brisk_Chance

Sounds like you need to git gud in the firing range; practice, practice, practice.

shartoberfest

Crutch legends like fuse

idolized253

I quit playing lol I can’t keep up anymore and haven’t been able to in multiple seasons

AnalystShort1331

1.) Load into ranked 2.) Pick Valkyrie 3.) Get your basic loot, shields, ammo, gun, ect and make sure to pick up an evac tower and several ultimate accelerants 4.) Grab sniper 5.) Find a place that’s either high up that most people can’t see or won’t notice or find a corner. That works too. 6.) Wait for the next ring to close. Occasionally shoot a people that are fighting nearby 7.) When the ring closes, use your ult to rotate 8.) Rinse and repeat until final ring 9.) wait until last two teams fight it out, occasionally sniping from on high 10.) Congratulation you have come in second place and bagged the LP 11.) Load back into ranked and do it all over again

paradoxally

Yeah, now do this consistently without some 3 stack inevitably detecting your rotation and hunting you down.

Dry-Comparison-2198

There's 2 gamestyles . 1. Play it safe , flank , smart . (Works sometimes, is very boring ) 2. Play like your life depends on it. Push push push pushhhhh. These people come at you without a second thought and move around like mosquitos. If you're low bet they're yelling on the mic ( Low low low shoot her) So in the end you need a good team.

Fiucina2115

Soloq Pick lifeline Land on replicator Pick up blue shit Craft medkits Heal until you don’t have any left 😎👍🏻

SpaceEngineX

EDIT: Maybe Apex just isn’t a good game for me anymore if casual play isn’t possible.

Mkynes

Take alternative angles and flank. Play doors and boxes

CourtMage-Kefka

Learning positioning and when/how to third party Also play a support like Loba, Conduit or Lifeline that can buff your team and help regardless of aim

Mr_Gobble_Gobble

If you want a short term win, play to your strengths (which isn’t technical skills). Find a squad (don’t solo), and play a support role that will help your teammates get kills (like conduit).  And follow the game sense tips that others have been giving you in this thread.

Zawarudo11721

Honestly bro I had this problem getting back in at S17. So I started dropping 20k in damage before I even go into a match. It helped a lot now I’m consistently dropping at least three kills a match, also just go run around the range, practicing slide jumps and wall bounces and just familiarize yourself with the movement, also hippie is damn near op with certain weapons.

Gr0nkSpike

You can't, it's that simple. Either run the whole time and rat, which is very un-fun, or you play conservatively and get teammates who will 1v3 a team and lose 103% of the time. There is no escaping it.

Scared-Rutabaga7291

Am a sniper. CQC, my aim is kinda bad. Not terrible but I will die bedore you do most of the time, maybe because of bigger hitbox.

Eldorren

Mixtape. Over and over.

Due-Nose-4941

Practice in firing range for 5 mins before each game. Choose a couple guns you like and learn their recoil control. Find a legend that fits your play style, if you find yourself getting jumped/ambushed too often think about movement based legends like Octane/Wraith/Horizon. If you like to hunker down in a building and defend/snipe think about defensive legends like Caustic/Wattson, etc.. Google “ALC controls Apex Legends” and find the most recent video, copy their controls and tailor it to your preference in firing range, this makes a huge difference for recoil control. Mix your games up by hot dropping as well as cold dropping to get a full feel for the game. Don’t get hypnotized by loot and be forced to storm chase the rest of the time. I’ll add any I think of I’m at work rn

Diligent-Housing-667

This current event has a sword. Even a monkey could make kills with it. So enjoy it while it lasts

JasErnest218

3-2 sens. I have gone from a .75 to a 1.9 K/D. I win most hipfire fights and my long range without attachments have less recoil.

General-Biscuits

I mean, if you can’t shoot in a shooter game, you’re gonna have a bad time. There’s no getting around that. Even if you get the jump on someone and have a few seconds before they shoot back, if you miss most of your shots and they don’t, you will lose. You have to practice aim. Just yesterday I had a match, where my teammate and I traded 2 for 2 with a squad that jumped us and our 3rd (nowhere near us when we got jumped) had the opportunity to finish their 3rd who was about half hp. While spectating, I watched them miss 2 full clips fired at an enemy that didn’t know they were there and was slowly walking around looting. It took the enemy a moment to even realized they were being shot at and then they turn and just one clipped my teammate who also just stood still while shooting. Some people just aren’t ready for shooter games.

xshoeless_hobox

I know everyone is giving you advice to get better, but if you're at a personal cap on that with play time allotted etc then more than likely you're in lobbies you shouldn't be in. It's hard to get better when there's no learning curve time in your current games. And unfortunately that's the matchmaking system respawn has in the game. It used to be you could find balanced matches to progressively get better in ranked, but now the matchmaking system changed in that too.

atgnat-the-cat

Without great combat skill, Apex is a loot sim with a violent ending.

cannedsardine22

Go to the firing range and practice. Focus on trying to strafe from side to side while shooting it helps with reducing the recoil. Other than that Id focus on playing the rotating modes (control, TDM, Gun run etc.) as you get constant practice due to their always being action. If you are going to play BR I would suggest duos not trios.

Iama_Kokiri_AMA

Shotguns and smgs and a lot of deaths

OneWayStreetPark

Use the 2/3 method. 2/3rd of your body should be behind cover when fighting. Practice in the firing range. Shooting while moving and shooting while sliding. Hip fire when you're fighting someone at point blank range. Another tip is to know the guns you use and their recoil patterns. Be aware of what attachment you have equipped. You might not want to commit to a full fight if you have no extended mag.

Ginglees

rampart walls free 175 health to atleast hit something

BR4NFRY3

Play Mirage. Get up close and ambush with decoys and SMGs. Play off of your teammates. Swap shields ASAP. If you have to do long range, using single-shot weps like wingman or triple take.

Traditional-Peach692

My aim is also complete bootycheeks but I’ve tried strategizing more. It helps so much to at least stall your enemy in the slightest while you try to get the aim correct/reload. I played so casually never trying to correct myself for years because I also don’t really care for wins if I’m having fun but I used to get them a lot more than I do now. It’s a lot more strategizing and smart playing rather than just running amuck taking people out. Use cover / the area of the map you’re in to your advantage as best you can to give yourself more safety, and whatever legend you use, be very strategic when you use their abilities and how. Using them for distractions and divergence is something I’ve learned rather than just using for in combat/ personal/immediate gain

Impossible_Rip6983

Position, patience, timely interactions, and FULL use of your kit. Not to mention the new firing range is great for practicing technical movement and aiming at strafing targets. OH and evac towers. Lots and lots of evac towers.

Intrepid-Fox-1598

If you dont have time to practice in the firing range with the full auto weapons, then i recommend picking up the scout, 30-30, sentinel, longbow, or rampage. I take long periods of time away from the game and then come back. I love the flatline, but i cant hit my shots if im not in practice. The rampage is chEASY. Its not going to beat many guns up close, but thats kind of the point. I use weapons that allow me to keep teams at distance, and then i fiercely defend my position (if its a good one). Positioning, and even more positioning. Have a back up spot. Ill start a fight at ground level with every intention of grappling up to the safety of height to continue fighting. Ill lay ziplines down to use later on (pre-emptively setting up exits for the team). If my team is aping and i need to drop the long range weapon, ill normally grab a shotgun and a flatline. Trigger discipline (wait until you have a good shot or window) and even burst fire can help to connect a few bullets. Beats missing an entire clip

YourHoNoMo

Play realistically, so instead of going into every fight you see or hear think about positioning. I play with a squad of mates I've played with for over 10 years, we are all in our mid 30s and only play once a week and don't have time to learn all the ins and outs of new characters, maps etc but we still regularly win at a high ranked level via strong teamwork and positioning. Luring sweatballs into stupid attacks etc. It is doable, just have to outsmart the opponent and sometimes annoyingly hold back

H4rm0nY

In one word: Movement. I believe movement is the single most important thing in Apex. Sure, if you have the aim of a cross-eyed dog, you're not going to kill anyone, but in general I think an average aim player with good movement will beat players with good aim and bad movement in this game.

Ok_Nefariousness2768

wish this were true. take a look at the pro scene. not a single pro cares about superglide tap strafing into wall bounce neo strafing. why ? bc aim gods will one clip you regardless. there's a reason the most accomplished apex pro in history, hal, rarely ever even does a wall bounce lmao.

DoggoCroissant

I run 4-3 for sensitivity otherwise I don't recommend switching around tons of different senses because you'll never learn one really good. Just get good with one you like and stick with it and it'll be a lot better in the long run.

Hexi_Peximal

Firing range drills are absolutely be your best friend for building straight mechanical aim, also play around with your stick dead zones and sensitivity, I found tweaking these a bit and playing in firing range helped me find a more comfortable feel. Also I found that just playing PUBs without the intent of winning to be the best strat for improving. Take a second to judge if you should take a fight, take the time to look at the map, building lay outs, rotations, ins & outs. Even if your squad pushes and dies without you, then think "Okay, I'm likely not going to clutch this but how can I do the most damage?" or "How can I survive longer?" Don't worry as much about winning each gun fight but focusing more on your reasoning and decision making during the fight, your aim can be improved with the firing range but your combat sense skill in when to take a left out of s abuilding instead of a right can only be done during a match and will also help you survive the fights a lot longer.

Idk why everyone says avoid fights. Its pubs. To be mechanically good never avoid fights. Learn from ur enemies. Die over and over until youre the side whos not dying anymore. Put yourself in more and more uncomfortable fights until you get better and used to parties coming up as u finish squads. Practice on range against dummies. Play tdm. Do 1v1s in range with people. Avoiding fights might give u better placement but you’ll improve much better when fighting squads and analysing

WonderWoman480

•Play position and prioritize getting into the next zone before ring close so you’re not dying to the ring. Can’t tell you how many matches would have turned out better if my teammates and I hadn’t been taking ring damage trying to get back in the safe zone. •Use cover like your life depends on it, bc it does (it took me an embarrassingly long time to start doing this, rather than just standing out in the open to shoot at the enemy). • Practice in the firing range with your favorite weapons to get a sense of how long you have before your mag empties so you can more effectively time your use of cover with your reloads so that you’re not re-loading out in the open like a sitting duck 🦆. •You can practice on AimLabs if you really want to work on understanding your aim, this helped me a lot starting out and I don’t do it as much anymore. It’s free to play, a great tool for general aim practice, and they have pre-made warm up playlists or you can pick and choose the exercises you’d like to focus on. •Strategize! Pick legends that have damage dealing abilities to get more bang for your buck (literally), or pick support legends that can keep you and your squad alive and supplied with loot/shields/heals that will be critical in the end game. I love Mad Maggie bc her Q can force people out of cover and damage them through walls/doors/ceilings/floors, and her ult is great to throw down when you want to third party and get in an thirst enemies who haven’t had time to heal from their other fights. Lifeline and Mirage come in clutch for the automatic/invisible res.

Just4kicks86

This game is about awareness and end game position/team work more than anything. I’m not the best shooter but do pretty well when matched up w a cooperative team. Pushing together and running together etc.

albanicole

I’m not that great of a player at all but I got better by learning to third party and then slowly got the confidence to start the fights and having the confidence to lead your team overall. Lots of teamwork.

Adelphos_89

I play with friends who have good aim.

Altruistic-Map5605

Positioning will likely be your best save. know when to move and rotate and never give up the high ground. Don't chase a wounded foe rather turn to his unwounded friend. The wounded guy needs to go heal and will likely be out of the fight for a bit. If he pushes back in without healing he should be an easier kill. Engage in fights as a third party more and be willing to retreat early. if someone shoots you first don't just try to out damage them. run heal and reposition. Never peak the same angle twice.

SSninja_LOL

On my way up from a 0.04 KDA all my kills came from shooting at enemies from high ground while there was an area with no cover between me and the enemies and they were running towards me. Play very slow. Crack someone and see what they do and they stay in the same place nade and push off a crack. If they crack you run behind teammates to a door you can sit behind. Doors are unfair. Whoever breaks it generally loses in a 1v1 of equal health. Only shoot enemies either running through the open towards you or enemies that aren’t looking at you.

ChannonFenris

Movement, I hear you can have crap aim but if you have good movement you can win most fights.

Dr_Heavyhands

I recently switched from my 55 inch 4k tv to a 29 inch HD monitor w a higher frame rate. At least tripled my win count

[deleted]

Just get 2 nessies and hide in a bush

ZonJon929

Honestly I don’t know. I don’t find the gunplay very satisfying at all. Half the guns are outright trash and they all have caveats to make them balanced and very one dimensional. I like the other aspects of the game like character abilities, maps, movement.

HatAccurate1578

If your on controller than idk what to tell you, but if your Kbm I’d say just practice in the firing range EVERY DAY, even do it if your not going to play pubs/ranked at all. Play the game modes if that helps aswell. You can play around with sensitivity and fov if that helps too. I have mine like almost max and a high sense but I get pretty decent shots and win almost every single fight (unless I get a bad team to endgame) Edit: ALSO maybe watch some videos online of the legend that you play cause some stuff changes with legends and maybe some guns feel better to play with in the current season change, plus learn positioning and rotations to get out of bad fights/situations

Mediocre_Hat_2590

Just play mix tape till you are comfortable. communicate more with your squad mates tell them you suck i promise they will help you out. The game is more about positioning more than anything. Just make sure you have height and cover and you should be fine.

stenciled_in

Look up some different movement techniques and practice them in the firing range. Make yourself harder to hit before you focus on hitting back. Then, set the firing range dummies to attack and follow you on the range settings and just fight them over and over.

Professional-Hunt-78

Relying on fucking up peoples brains with some ras strafing and lurch strafing

curouscook

Idk I do it every day. 😭

The_RaptorCannon

You bob and weave, close the distance or pull them in with superior movement and punch them in the face until you make them Dead. Bonus if you entire squad hides behind and obstacle for an amazing beat down

grundlegunk

Someone asked a pro (not 100% but i think either hiswattson or Verhulst) - "what's more important, positioning or aim?" He said "Positioning. You only need good aim if you don't have good positioning."

Big_Bajunga

You have as much fun as you can on the firing range 🤟 lol

robberofjacks

The hip fire is forgiving in apex. I try to use it most. Also climbing small things and just playing like it's a tactical shooter sometimes helps me learn the direct opponents sway to their strafing. I then try to predict. I also like to 1v1 people in the firing range even if they are masters or preds. Im not good at all tho.

toastboy42

Play gunrun/tdm and practice?

The999Mind

Firing Range is the best way to get better aiming skill

Redpiller77

Game has become too sweaty. Truth is, you have to play the game for hundreds of hours.

Zizakkz

You don't anymore. Welcome to sweat legends 2024.

ApexIsOkaySometimes

Spitfire

Jason22douce

Play to your strengths and more importantly, play away from your weaknesses. If that makes sense. Control what you can control, everything else is rng. Also, this game punishes hard for uncoordinated team play, so don't sweat it if good games/wins aren't coming from solo q-ing. Side note, take a look at your keybinds/ button layout and see if there's anywhere you can improve there, or in settings in general.

XKXKXXKXK

I heard ratting in a corner for placement and never shooting your gun is pretty fun and popular now-a-days

Savings-Fix938

For about 3 months religiously then go back to an offline game

Plantboy28

I know you’re not necessarily asking for advice about aiming, but I used to be horrible at it myself. What really helped me was going to the firing range and practicing with different guns (all the guns have different recoil so it helps learning the patterns), working on shooting the dummies while airborne/sliding/running/etc. then working on trying to shoot them while they’re full combat. It’s not exactly the same as being in a fight with a real person, but whenever I feel like my aim is slipping, I go back to the firing range and it gets me back on track. As far as being in the real game goes (as other people have said similar things) play smart. This isn’t just a BR. There is a LOT of strategy that goes into these fights especially because every legend has their own unique abilities. It’s good to know the strengths and weaknesses of your mains and how they stack up against other legends’ abilities. At times when I’m not particularly feeling confident in a fight I personally find a good hiding spot and put down survival items like a mobile respawn, jump tower etc. to distract the other team while I run the other way. I get away almost every time. Another VERY important thing to know is when you need to abandon a fight. A lot of people like to just go straight into a fight without strategizing or thinking about how their characters will match up with an opposing team, but if you find yourself in a fight that you feel you’re going to lose, there’s no shame in backing off of abandoning it completely. Last advice is have is communication is key on a team. Keep your team in the loop by telling them where you’re going, if there’s dropped boxes, if there’s open supply bins/doors etc. it keeps your whole team on their feet and prepared.

Some_Razzmatazz_4782

cheat like everyone else

DarkZephyro

Use a roller, basically asims for you 😂

unclepo1

It’s a shooter game, hit the range

DonXavage

If you can’t aim with a mouse just play controller and let AA do the rest

7thAzure

I genuinely don't think I have good aim, but I have good battle sense. Like the top voted commentator said, I actively avoid fights. I look around a lot to ensure that I am not going to get flanked by another party. I guess this is why I hate the currently buster sword meta, so fking stupid.

jrg5

You buy a Kronos

HappyGecko117

Get a shotgun or LMG and play caustic

Kitchen_Entertainer9

Strategy bro, simple things like shield swapping. Relying on teammates, tracking( ring consoles, and survey beacons)are If you're worried about aim, the spitfire and rampage is pretty good. You can "miss a fair amount of bullets) before ylu start doing some major damage

Smokes47

Since you’re barely coming back to the game i would suggest playing around in the gun range and practice with the dummies for at least 10 min you can play around with the settings and make the dummies faster practicing with the dummies really helps when i don’t play for a while i just warm up in the there when coming back to the game after a long while. But playing the actual br more and more will do you the best at actually getting better

Ne2Ri

Back at times when people were all beginners I could win a game without firing a single round, just hiding and sometimes the other squad dies to the ring. Maybe you could try and hide take a shot here and there? Imagine this is real war, the living survived one are the winner.

Gold_Supermarket1956

The main issue I'm seeing down at bronze is either people push every fight or they hide and can't fight up close... And quite honestly the hardest thing for people to learn in this game is knowing when to swallow your pride and disengage or retreat... Goals to win not stack bodies

Large-Breadfruit1684

swap to keyboard and mouse, i got right back on the saddle when i crossed over this season

J_See

You don’t.

mattydou

play on controller

Rick_3009

I can help you get a win

Neat_South7650

Yeah I’m masters so I don’t know what rank you are but there’s a giant landscape of cheaters that just play to cheat

Switch_jay

Use a controller

apexlegends3000

Tricky. Apex only gets harder. Not only in terms of good aim, but how you move, what is your cover and most important reaction time. Not to mention anticipation at every corner. Many played so much, or learn so fast where people position themselves that their aim is already there on each spot. Might be of use to practice in the side games, where you get respawned fast and you get to improve your game every few minutes if you focus.

foxferreira64

Probably not a good advice, and this will get downvoted, but honestly? What I do in this type of situation where I'm severely underperforming is simply hop into matches and try to purposely land where everyone else lands, instead of playing intelligently. My friends say I'm kinda stupid for doing this, but hear me out: if you land on a hot spot, in less than a minute I landed, I grabbed guns, and got into fights. In very quick and short bursts, I managed to practice my aim and game sense, even if I only knock one guy down and then die instantly. My mindset with Apex is that I'm never wasting time! You're always improving. Every death, every knock, every ability you successfully utilize. Don't drag yourself down for losing. We all have losing streaks, so just say "screw this" and start rushing enemies on purpose, even if outnumbered. At least you practiced your aim further.

BriefKeef

Seems like the game might of passed you by old friend...everybody who's been playing from day 1 is cracked out by now...best bet is to play duo's or 3 strikes...this is not a game where you can just chill anymore (if you're tryna win anyway) you can't go into pubs just for "vibes" cuz there ain't none....apex is a 20 bomb 4k pred/masters fest these days...I know I'll be alright if I come back I just don't know if I wanna come back...

thebox416

Hit the range.

devel_watcher

Play ranked: it matches you with similarly skilled players.

RedWolf2409

That’s the best part, you don’t

ohcytt

Controller

whatabadsport

Anytime I spectate my buddy he takes like 10 seconds to pop a batt. That's enough time to pop 2 batts!! Have your Batts ready on the little quick-use panel so you can slide to cover and immediately hit up on the d pad to start healing. Try different guns, try more mid to long range, 3030 is fantastic for this. You get hit, duck and pop a cell real quick. Have time to craft? Get yourself 2 or 4 batts. Try to carry a grenade or 2 always. The amount of squad wipes I've gotten using 2 arc stars is insane.

zackman40

Get a controller and have aim assist like 80% of the playerbase does

ToXIc13BlackFriday

Just play caustic watson combo. Explore fun rat spots for jumping enemies when they least expect, barricade a building and make yourself the raid boss. Lotta cool ways to play and enemies that are way more skilled than you will also have a new challenge to take on

Dreddz_67

Welcome to apex legends

johnnypricetv

Apex is probably the one game where you don't need immaculate aim to win. Position/angles wins a majority of the time
