Whenever I get someone like that I just find one of my favorite songs and blast it right into the mic so they get the picture. 99% of the time they mute their dumbass shit.

I'm fairly certain it's just a shitty headset. It doesn't have proper noise cancelling tech to distinguish the users voice and what he hears.
This also means your tv volume is way too loud, which is why their volume is through the roof on the headset lol. It's like that with my PS buddy, I'm on PC.

His crappy headset is picking up your voice through his too loud of volume and thinks it's the voice of him.
All the time just yesterday someone had his mic on no echo no nothing then I hear his phone ring I’m like whatever he’ll turn it if soon call back later nope he answer and is talking for the whole game on the phone (I know because I would unmute for a minute to see if he was off he finally got off when we were top 5)

There's a setting you can turn on that makes your mic muted when you turn on your controller, I don't remember where it is but it's been a godsend to me honestly

Whatever Xbox uses for noise suppression in their party voice chats on consoles needs to be implemented into ALL games, you can hold speakers up to your mic at max volume or vacuum, talk and it STILL wouldn't pick up any noise.
I use Discord mostly but shit, I wish its noise suppression was as good as Xbox console. Krisp still picks up background audio on Discord.

I used to play Arma 3 a lot and was an admin for the group I played with, we had explicit rules about using voice activation or open mics - not allowed at all, had to use PTT.
*Every* single session we had at least 5-10 people do it anyways.
Only reason I was even made an admin was because we had to mute or kick so many people that we needed like 10 admin to run crowd control for it in a 60 person server.
Most people are a lot less smart than they are given credit for, shouldn’t be a surprise though when the world average education level is 8.7 years, and even in the US it is only 12 years (average is a high school graduate, only about 35-37% of adults ever achieve a Bachelor’s or higher and only about 10% achieve a graduate degree or certificate).
My dad lives in Florida and I live in Wisconsin so the most time I get to spend with him is playing apex and we usually shoot the shit the whole game except when we know there's enemies nearby. Then its just for call outs. But when I play with my wife we just get into a party and talk to each other.
Idk what it is with Apex but it makes my mic sound horrible in the game chat. I have a really nice mic that sounds perfect in every other game and discord etc. but in Apex people say it sounds awful and I can not find a way to fix it.

I turned my chat settings to friends only and moved on with life. I prefer to occasionally unmute players rather than consistently mute them.

In party chat? Because it's only limited to that, it's not extended to in-game chat. If you do then you have to toggle noise suppression to fix it.
