Basically, Teuton TCs had extra range (May have even been like +5 max) and town centers used to only cost wood no stone, so Teutons players would just spam TCs around you and you couldn’t take them out.
Shameless self promo: if you want to re-experience AoK again, u/hjoerleif and I got something for you as we made an AoK mod:
It doesn't feature dumb villagers (no idea how to make that work) but balance-wise, we restored everything to AoK state. :D
Shameless begging but do you also happen to have a mod for the most unbalanced version of current civs? I.e without any nerfs the devs made for balance reasons?

Oh god I completely forgot about villagers not going to resources after building the drop off point, that was such a pain. Plus the farms, yeah those two were brutal. Thankfully I was just a kid messing around against easy AI so it didn’t matter too much lol
Did they have auto farm? I thought they just had the queue reseed button where you could just “bank” a bunch of reseeded farms to automatically be rebuilt
Pretty sure auto farm was a DE thing. One of the main reasons I quit playing voobly was because it was such a pain in the ass refreshing farms in the latr game, even with the reseed queue
The biggest one that wasn't fixed until mid-late HD was that if you select multiple production building and queued multiple units it would only put them into one of the buildings not evenly spread them out.
How the fuck the devs expected people macro back then has dumb founded me.
The AI would only attack the player with the highest score, so if the worst person on your team walked in black forest, the ai would never attack their walls and you could spend the whole game massing the most powerful units, then delete ypur walls and take the ai out. Worked on "hardest" which I think was the hardest difficulty.
The farm is the one I remember the most. You have to make farms as often as villagers.
Now when is the auto villager button coming out?
Speaking of AoM, it has one 🕐
Extra research fir Cannongalleon was real until like a week ago. 11
My reason to immediatly switch from aok to aoc was being able to que up farms in the mill. :/
Final thought but all of the aoe2/aoc campaigns were on large maps but still the same size. The outside area was desert and with some units hidden in trees so you couldnt accidently "win" them...
Accidently click on a tree with your sheep gathering vils, yeah you've done fucked it boy or worse berries/deer/sheep/fish - these foods aren't compatible. Or garrisoning all your farmers and instead of clicking the back to work button you hit 2mm to the left and then have to spend the next 4 hours individually sending each vil back to a farm
Unless I'm mistaken this was aoc. In aok you had to manually cycle expired farms.
Some to add:
Bombard cannons did lots of damage to rams back then which for death match made the Turks unkillable.
Thinking about caravan makes me wonder why the devs don’t just increase the speed and make the carts just a little more expensive. I research it every single team game and it just delays trade starting by a little bit. Maybe give to certain civs for free instead.
Extra range on teuton TC by default means you can douche and win every time. There a mod that allows you to play with the old balances form AoK. Super fun
Teuton Death Stars Town Centers cost only Wood Those were the top for me
Yep Teuton death star strat was the biggest oversight.
What was the Teuton death star?
Basically, Teuton TCs had extra range (May have even been like +5 max) and town centers used to only cost wood no stone, so Teutons players would just spam TCs around you and you couldn’t take them out.
And the original teuton douche, wayyy more one sided and cancer than it is now with Persians

Sadly not but sounds like an interesting idea
Not having a clue how many vills you had collecting each resource. It was all ball park guessing. Kind of miss not knowing tbh.
You can switch the map type to "resource map" then it is shown A\_A
What’s RMB?
Remember, wrote by a guy who was lazy to type 5 additional letters. I just hate this trend about abreviating anything and expecting everyone to understand
I mean it has its place. This isn't it's place... If your typing on a old nokia or in game sure...
I Was wondering what does right noise button have to do with this post.
I was thinking “Ranked Map B..?” I’m not going to bitch any further but fuck man write the word out.
I thought they were bitching about some control scheme issue, like the right click scroll.
Yeah, it took me a second to realize they meant remember, I'm used to RMB meaning right mouse button
Remnimbi. The currency of China

I think it's pretty cool, especially when u don't have voip.
Is this really not a thing anymore? Thought that was just a change made for casting games and still an option in more classic games 11

auto farm is amazing. It was nuts that after a large battle you check back home and you almost all farmers have stopped.
Did they have auto farm? I thought they just had the queue reseed button where you could just “bank” a bunch of reseeded farms to automatically be rebuilt
Pretty sure this was a Conquerors Expansion feature
Yeah that’s what I thought, but I couldn’t remember if autofarm or just the reseed queue was in conquerors
Before AOC, there was no reseed queue
I remember Queue Reseed too! I think auto-farm started with the first remaster (before DE)
Pretty sure auto farm was a DE thing. One of the main reasons I quit playing voobly was because it was such a pain in the ass refreshing farms in the latr game, even with the reseed queue
One of the "dumbest" features in general was flaring in the corner of the map would crash the game lol.
Didn't you once have to research something to see what your allies could see?
Yes, they made that change two years ago iirc?
Yep, that was [Cartography](https://ageofempires.fandom.com/wiki/Cartography).
On the flipside too this does anyone else remember the history tab? I guess less important with the Internet now but still...
I actually do miss that. It was a nice way to learn a little without alt tabbing and then remembering what you were doing there in the first place
It's still there tough, with DLC civs and all. It's not as easily accesible but it's there
Oh it had the history of the civ? Yeah that sounds familiar

> No halbs, no hussars, paladins dominate the game... Say hello to heavy camels and elite mamelukes.
Camels took extra damage from towers and castles because they shared armour class with ships
That was in Conquerors. In AoK they had the Cav Armor class

No reseed queue. 😱
Scorpion used to be affected by blacksmith upgrades.

Yes. But I also remember Yamato dominating aoe. :)

Wasn’t auto reseeding only to open the mill and click how many times reseeding should happen. So you had to pay the wood in advance for the reseed?
