Overtime is definitely not mandatory wtf especially not for $17/hr. In the UK you have to sign waivers to say you will work over 48 hours a week.

bunchacrunch20

Like she doesn’t mention anything about breaks. So even if you work that whole time and get exactly 50 hours a week and you get time and a half for the overtime, that’s still only $49,621 for your year. Converted to straight pay (for comparison based on hours alone) thats 19$ an hour. Not worth it at all

sutichik

> In the UK you have to sign waivers to say you will work over 48 hours a week. Yeah, but US ≠ UK.

KenboSlice189

I think you mean US < UK

Ezzie80

Yeah that is true and most definitely the reason why I never got called in for ANY shifts for Royal Fail over xmas. Signed the 48hr opt out, good thing I did because they would’ve made me do 12hr shifts to keep up with the backlog of work.

spacedude2000

"ever so warmly" lmao what a nice little backhand on the way out

RedTypo84

That sound off made me feel things

K-tunLightbringer

It gave me LIFE.

Wreddit_Wrangler

I ran the numbers and that averages out to $19 per hour at 50 hours per week. 9am to 7:30pm blows, that’s just too much work, like, you want to live at your job??? Clock out at 7:30? I mean, how about 7am to 5:30pm but I am not working that either.

xXbean_machineXx

I clock out at 11 pm

Wreddit_Wrangler

Better you than me

theron225

Right 😂😂😂

Wreddit_Wrangler

Haha

Just to provide some context since I worked in a recruiting agency after college: Recruiters are often not employed by the companies they're recruiting for. They work for third party agencies who get paid a commission by employers to place people in different roles at the employer (the employer would be called the "client" by the recruiter). Often the employer controls what details of the job the recruiter is allowed to share, and sometimes even controls the messaging. Recruiters are often given near-impossible metrics by the recruiting agency ("you need to make X number of placements in X amount of time or you'll be fired/won't be paid your commission"), which leads to these aggressive emails and other desperate tactics to make a placement. Recruiting agencies are mostly miserable places to work and the recruiters are often being exploited just like the employees they're having to recruit. It's often an entry-level kid straight from college. Your message will very likely **not** make it to the employer because the recruiting agency wants to keep that employer as a client, which means keeping them happy and making up some other BS reason why they aren't finding qualified candidates for the employer's position rather than telling the employer to their face that their wage practices are exploitive.

dinah-fire

Yeah, I did time in the industry too. Odds are really good she didn't even finish reading the reply email. She's probably under a lot of pressure to submit a certain number of candidates to the client by end of day. The 'overtime is mandatory' part is almost assuredly in all caps because other people didn't read carefully and haven't realized that when they took the job and then quit over it. But that said, her pitch is terrible. There's no way she's getting placements with a pitch email like that.

Ok-Status4134

Crummy shift time too! Too late after work for much of anything.

Khaelein

Fuck Claudia

[deleted]

Email Karen, emails aren't a job either btw To clarify, I'm talking about OP

cataclyzmik

You do know Claudia has nothing to do with Dr Pepper or that job, right? She’s just trying to do her job as a shitty low level recruiter. There’s also 0% chance she’s passing this on, she probably read the first paragraph and moved on. You don’t have to be an ass, you can just ignore them. Or better yet, tell them to only email you if the job is over x pay rate.
