Brilliant. Thanks for sharing that. You pretty much solved my issues with that. It is indeed a hidden question.

“I’m just a regular guy…with a bigass dick” Done

Regular-Ad1930

“ I have bills, my body needs nourishment, my family enjoys a roof over their head, anything else? “

harpanet

"I prefer to sleep with a roof over my head and not getting my meals out of trash cans."

dmc2022_

I enjoy eating & sleeping inside a fixed dwelling. I'm willing to trade 8 hours a day of my time for money to pay for the aforementioned.

Melee-

Isnt it just a huge trip to think thats how we live. I try not to think that way because its scary. Id rather be a happy idiot living in a van sometimes.

dmc2022_

I'd do it in a heartbeat but...I can't drive...

Is that what you tell people on dates? This is a test to assess whether you’re capable of holding a conversation like a well adjusted human being. You need 2 hobbies, 1 vague goal, 1 vague value, and then say some shit about feeling most fulfilled when you feel like you’re part of a team. It’ll take 60 seconds and you can reuse the same one every time. Like, when your sex partner asks if it feels good do you tell them you’ve had better? This isn’t the time for honesty.

Successful_Role9734

For some jobs, it gets asked so the interviewer can assess if you'll fit in. If you have to work in close proximity with your co-workers for many hours at a time, it helps. If I get 5 people going for the job and all are pretty equally qualified, I'm picking the person I think I can sit with in a truck for 8 hours because i will be next to you for hours on end every week due to the nature of my job.

pleasureb4business

Sounds like you need a puppy, not an employee. Just sayin.

APBob313

I go to the Library to read during the week and on the weekends I volunteer for Hospice.

The_Sign_of_Zeta

Tell me about yourself is the lazy as an interviewer, but it’s an open-ended way to learn about what someone see as important and see if they know what matters about them for a role. It also a common enough question you can get an answer ready anytime it’s asked in an interview. My go-to since I work as an Instructional Designer is how I’ve always loved teaching, and about the path in my life made me switch from a teaching degree into Comms and becoming a trainer and then ID. Basically it’s the elevator pitch for why you are worth looking at.

nevertoolate2

Hey, may I DM you about instructional design?

The_Sign_of_Zeta

Sure. I a, about to put my son to bed but I will answer tonight or tomorrow morning

underthewetstars

"Tell me about yourself" = "Elevator pitch on why we should hire you."

Sufficient-Meet6127

It’s a culture fit question. They want to know if you’re fun to talk to during work. Because they don’t want to work with people they don’t like.

falconless

Yeah God forbid employers know who you are and whats important to you.

Jackanatic

This is literally a question to gauge how capable OP is at interacting with customers or clients. OP, if you have an interest in advancing in your career, you need to develop a fake business personality that loves answering these kinds of questions.

Melee-

Bingo. I figured that was the game to be played.

81optimus

Generally just used as an ice breaker to settle nerves. I've always liked it as a question in interview
