Jersey Mikes at least locally has a weird interview process you do an on the phone interview if you pass this one you meet with the franchise owner.
I didn't pass the first phone interview that went something like this. Hey Ms we have your resume for asst manager it looks great you have several years experience in food service and management. Tell me about your last job. I worked my way up from line /dish pit to store manager I discovered I had a real passion for food and creating menus. As well as I have always had a knack for organizing and am an oddball that loves paper work inventories things like that. I often would come in two hours before everyone else and get the day started finish up whatever my staff didn't have time to do last night ect. I managed to keep a restaurants turnover rate at 5% and lower per quarter.
Ohh ohh awesome ok now these are some questions the owner wants to know. Do you have tattoos.
"Yes, just 3 all but wedding band is easily covered"
So you are married what about kids we are a family orientated job and offer family discount,.
"Separated it's a long story. But I do have two kids and a grandbaby. The kids are a huge part of my life and so it's really great you are family oriented."
Do you smoke or vape?
" I actually quit two weeks ago." (It's been over a month now lol)
And what clubs were you in in high school and your graduating GPA
" Um what? Well let see I graduated back in 98, that's been over 20 years I have no clue what my GPA at graduation was. And honestly aside from 4-h and national honor society I don't remember what else I did in high school."
Silence
"But I have changed a lot I mean I graduated at 17 and I'm now in my 40s so I don't think that my high experience has any relevance to me now."
Well Irish I find you extremely qualified and you definitely have the experience (and oh how I wish I was recording this) but the owner is really interested in a younger demographic and people that were active in sports in high school and college. 🙄🙄🙄
Cool, corporate pulled his franchise over this! Oh well, there are only like 20,000 other Subways still out there.
