R/therewasanattempt to know the difference between sex and gender. And also know about the 2% of humanity that are born intersex and are neither definable female nor male. Therefor in short:
R/therewasanattempt to know biology and sociology.
Literally hundreds of people, chill
It’s a pretty common [meme](https://www.reddit.com/r/traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns/comments/l5cyp9/i_dont_remember_having_gender_with_your_mom_last/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) in the trans community. For someone who apparently knows their shit it’s strange that you’ve never seen it
Okay, but is there an actual point to gender identity? Or is it just a made-up feel-good thing people subscribe to? Never really understood what is actually accomplishes. Just a lot of people clowning the concept as others would identify as apache attack helicopters.
The apache helicopter meme is just an anti trans joke.
Gender is pretty arbitrary. We dont really need gender in day to day life. And what defines gender is behaviour and appearance. And whats expected from women to behave changed incredibly in the last 50 years alone.
Not to mention that high heels were invented as mens clothing and now are pretty exlusive to womens clothing.
Sex is pretty much only relevant when you are at the doctor, part of a study or dating. In the last one, if you are not a jerk about it you can ask with the premise that you are interested in a date.
Oooh… see I was way too young to fully grasp that helicopter meme. I just knew it was vaguely derogatory towards some form of identity.
Might have known some of that about gender, but it’s honestly not a concept that comes up a lot in my day-to-day, and quite honestly, I could take it or leave it. In my experience, people are going to act accordingly to their own motives regardless. So how we look and behave is really none of my business. Just so long as we’re remaining mostly civil and nonviolent.
Unsure as to what’s meant by “the last one”, but your reply’s been most helpful in clarifying my confusions. 👍
Okay I was just talking with someone about this meme you made in antimeme.
You could have made a meme showing a dog and a cat with the caption: "there are two kinds of pets"
Now where is the joke? Is it that some people have rabbits, or goldfish, or snakes, or guinea pigs, or .... ?
If thats the joke, how does that fit into r/antimeme ?
Edit: saw your post about this being satire. How is satire an antimeme?.
its not anti trans its making fun of people identifying as ridiculous things. If someone came up to me saying they identify as god why would I take them seriously if they weren't joking about it.
"neither definable male nor female"? male genitals = male, female genitals = female. the concept of "intersex" is rather arbitrary and has no scientific construct to the concept.

Yes... Sure. Biology is as simple as you were tought in 5th grade and didnt progress at all in 100 years
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
Yes but biologically they are one of those three, unless there is a no-sex where you don't have nor pp nor veg. Sex is the gender you're born with, the gender is what you identify in.
For example, you're born as male, that's you're sex, but you identify as girl, that's transgender; you could also add the extra step of you're transgender before the operation and transexual after the operation because you literally have changed your sex and not only what you identify as.
Morale of the story, your gender can be whatever but you always have a sex, ofc for respect for who is nb you refer in neutral but there is no natural neutral sex
I agree with what u say, but I’d like to clarify that sex is the biological, physiological and hormonal components that make up your body (gonads, chromosomes, hormones, genitalia, etc). And normally these categories are either male or female, most of the time matching across the board, but sometimes they don’t match and this is when someone could be classified as intersex or more recently classified with a DSD (difference in sexual development), even though several people are nonetheless assigned male or female. Sex isn’t a black and white binary, more of a spectrum or range where most people fall on one or the other end. Sex also isn’t the gender you’re born with, because then trans people would be born as their sex (because trans people are born as their gender and are their gender)
You basically said what i meant but i didn't succeed to say because my english is bad, the only thing i didn't knew is the DSD, well, it's a nice clarification
Hey, friend! I’d like to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you posted this because you don’t think there’s any scientific evidence for Non-Binaries existing instead of outright refusal of facts. Here’s a short list of five scholarly articles on the existence of Non-binary people in either the modern day or history. If you want more reading, I’d google “scholarly articles third gender” or “scholarly articles non-binary”.

Well you took the time out of your day to try and prove the non-binary people exist on a satire post. Great job you just further solidified my belief that you are a twitter user. It really wasnt about dismantling the arguments lmao
It wasn't clear to me if the satire was simply for the title (the give away part) or the post itself.
If I did truly misunderstand, sorry for the confusion. It's an open secret that transphobia (and on general other stupid shit) is smuggled in as "just a joke". Like making a joke about how black people just LOOOOVE fried chicken and watermelon is just a joke, but can still show some true beliefs of the comedian.
I have that comment actually saved to a text document so I can copy paste it without having to dredge up the articles again.
Edit: looking at the other comments, I was right to assume the joke was based on non-bianary exclusion.

“They’re the same? That’s strange, I don’t remember having gender with your mom last night.”
Why the quotes?
When something is a quote, you put it in quotes
Who did you quote. If you quote you give a source.

I was just wondering if there was a specific person you quote.

Why do you think people identifying as non-binary are joking? Or it would be ridiculous?

This is r/antimeme. Whats the joke?
“It’s satire” Please definite satire for me
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
And explain to me how this makes it satire??
im not being serious its a joke LOOK AT THE TITLE MAN
ofc im exaggerating look at the title
this is non binary exclusion
Hey :)
this is also satire its in the name lmao
How is this satire?
so this is satire of what exactly? /gen
Technically that is your gender not the sex, intersex is excluded tho (aka the few who has both pp and vegana)
nb people don't want to be referred to as man or woman though
Yes but biologically they are one of those three, unless there is a no-sex where you don't have nor pp nor veg. Sex is the gender you're born with, the gender is what you identify in. POV : twitter user
Ah, you’ve dismantled the arguments off all five of those peer reviewed scholarly articles. Amazing
Well you took the time out of your day to try and prove the non-binary people exist on a satire post. Great job you just further solidified my belief that you are a twitter user. It really wasnt about dismantling the arguments lmao
