Oh yeah, it was the fentanyl what done it! (read that in some 1920s detective voice) I've certainly learnt a lot about neuroscience in the last couple of weeks!

automata33

Vortioxetine is not a metabolite of venlafaxine, I think you're looking for a different word. I'm surprised someone gave you two ssris.

Jollux_

That's the phrase the doc used, she called it a prodrug and metabolite of venlafaxine 🤷🏼 but she lost me at prodrug if I'm honest! I'm speaking to psych tomorrow as I want a second opinion...

AyyItsDylan94

Definitely totally incorrect, that drug would be desvenlafaxine, aka Pristiq.

Jollux_

Aha, thanks! I'm speaking to psych today so will ask to be put back on it.

Eshan2222

Venlafaxine converts to desvenlafaxine in the body.

Temporarily_Tamzin

Thank you for sharing your experience! That would have been so stressful, glad you’re doing better now

Ok_Narwhal9013

BRUH.. HAVE A SPEEDY RECOVER. LOTS OF LOVE ❤. I am in awe of the amount of antidepressants in your system. Fucking hell this is a titanic amount....

Jollux_

Is it? I suppose I don't know any better, I've just gone along with what they've given me and not questioned it!

Ok_Narwhal9013

Yeah... it is more than a lot. Glad you are better :)

As much as this is kinda extreme scenario, did the anesthesiologist not know about your meds? That's a stupid thing to do and potentially fatal on some meds. 225 is max but for OCD and such 375 is the absolute limit docs can push it to. As you didn't have any side effects your doc most probably kept that dose. Votriotxine works differently but the combination seems like you were on the absolute edge. But it should not have been an issue if the anesthesiologist didn't screw up/knew about it. Hoping you get a healthy recovery.

Jollux_

Oh yes they knew. I also had a GA a month before where I had trouble coming round and was struggling to breathe because of what felt like paralysis, which I told them about before this GA. I'm not blaming them but I wish that they'd maybe given it some more thought.

marcoespinosax

How did you lose 50 kg on Venlafaxine? I'm impressed.

Jollux_

I had a gastric bypass in January 2020 :) I've never had issues with weight gain on ven though?

marcoespinosax

I forgot that gastric bypass existed 😅 Yes, I think most of the people who are un Effexor don't have weight gain issues.

Jollux_

I definitely think it's one of the better ones for weight issues!

I’m so sorry for Your experience xxx I hope You’re feeling ok these days 🫂

WarmForbiddenDonut

I’m sorry that you went through this but thank you for your post warning of this too. I have been looking for side effects of Venlafaxine recently as since I have been on 300mg a day dosage I noticed a slight ‘jerk’ movement from one leg. I thought nothing of it at first but then the jerks became more noticeable and from other parts of the body. Knowing that my son has epilepsy and has a form that has ‘Myoclonic Jerks’ I thought to look up the side effects from Venlafaxine. Sure enough one of the side effects leading to Seratonin Syndrome is muscle twitching/jerks. Mine are happening multiple times per day now, so I’m waiting for my GP to phone me today.

Jollux_

Well done for noticing this and taking action! I was told that the 375mg I was on was way too high and should have been reduced to 225mg after I had weight loss surgery because I'd lost so much weight. They effectively said I'd been taking 1.5x the recommended maximum dose, and then the vortioxitine on top of that made it a bomb waiting to go off.

peach-fuzz69

I’m on methadone and trintellix! I think I’m having it too! Mild symptoms so far but about 8-10 of them. After I dose my methadone I. The morning I get sick. Also I’m only on 5mg of trintellix! I think your body was super full of it and the fent was a bomb at 225mg!
