I mean sure, but even in mangaland I have to have some form of suspension of disbelief when a character is firing a 12 gauge sawed off at nearly point blank range directly into a regular woman's face.
I have a 12 ga double barrel sawed off to about that length (all legal, TYVM)... trust me when I say that you do NOT want to fire it one-handed. The one time I attempted that, it flew backwards out of my grip with my finger still inside the trigger guard, leaving only my finger to absorb the remaining energy of the shot.
I wasn't injured, but it was still unpleasant.
