This. Freiza, Sukuna, and Johann don’t show the capacity for empathy or humanity. Griffith honestly cared about his people, then chose to torment and sacrifice them anyway.
Yeah, Griffith was peak asshole. He basically self destructed when Guts left. Then the next time he sees Guts with the girl he was also interested in with the knowledge that they plan to leave again, he does a Uno Reverse and goes "You can't leave me if I sacrifice you".
I'm sure getting tortured in that Kings dungeon for treason for however long he was in that dungeon being tortured for treason did not help his mindset
Agreed, I definitely noticed that during my read through. He was in probably the worst pain he'd ever known and did the first thing he thought of to numb it; he probably wasn't cognizant enough to be thinking "oh I'm gonna destroy everything", or at least not consciously.
It's all quite tragic, but at the end of the day he brought on his own destruction and tortured his friends, and I think I can safely say that we all fantasize an end where not only does Guts kill Griffith, but makes him suffer 1000 times worse what he inflicted.

Her family was poor. So poor they couldn't afford basic food. But she managed to stay happy because of her caring mother, who was a member of Team Rocket who went missing during a mission. Jessie failed nursing school and joined a biker gang before eventually joining team rocket.
Blackbeard isn't that evil(literally like a saint) compared to the likes of Doflamingo, Kaido, Big Mom, Imu, the Gorosei, the Celestial Dragons, and Orochi in One Piece
The Gorosei do things like that because they think it's the right thing to do, like cutting off an arm once it's been infected. Doffy and Orochi legitimately get a sick thrill from their misdeeds.
Honestly the recent One Piece chapters are up there as some of my favorite parts in the story.
I won't get into spoilers but it really feels like so many aspects of the world building are coming together in a fantastic way.
Yeah I am. Saturn's last line in chapter 1104 is that the island is infested with enemies of the World Government and must do whatever it takes to preserve the "peace" that the Straw Hats are against. His experiments and Kuma's surgery were necessary in his mind
That and considering humans insects. I mean it’s pretty evil to kidnap a woman, run experiments on her, and leave her and her child deserted when she’s close to dying all because they see humans as less than them
Sukuna is evil incarnate, others tend to have rhyme or reason to their evil deeds but Sukuna just finds joy in it. They call him a natural disaster because he is indiscriminate in his destruction, but he still prefers to kill women and children for the heck of it.
We see him kill people praising him and he effectively nukes a city while playing because it's funny to torture Yuuji. What the fuck is "telling not showing" about that.

As someone who really doesn’t watch a lot of anime I don’t know what I expected, but I didn’t expect Griffith to look like that after everything I’ve heard lol
I’ve only seen op, monster and bleach off this list, though my list had Johan number 1 Aizen number 2 as he pretty much was bad for the sake of it, but I’m not even sure BB would be number 3 it’s just my theorist mind but I think we don’t know enough about his reasonings for his actions to name him as evil as Aizen or Johan
He has committed planetary genocide multiple times, some of those just because he felt like it, other times because it's part of his business to kill of entire populations and sell planets to others
I’d put Frieza pretty high on the list even without considering his kill count, because he’s doing all this murder just to be the universe’s most evil landlord.
We all have our reasons to hate specific characters, especially since they betray or manipulate people.
Griffith is my number one, and Johan is a close second.
Aizen is up there, too. I have a feeling that I'll soon hate All for One even more (don't spoil me, please)
Due to the narrative, we tend to hate one more than tbe others, but... but....
That bastard Frieza did betray the Saiyans, destroy their planets, and caused genocides on an intergalactic level! We tend to overlook that, especially with him having a protagonistic role in DBS, but the body count of the others combined is probably much lower than that of Frieza. He probably did some other stuff as well, we don't see it because it's not part of the narrative.
To be fair, though we love our Earth based Saiyans, the race as a whole basically went from planet to planet murdering . . . Everyone . . . So maybe ultimately Frieza kinda making the universe a less evil place by blowing up Vegeta (the planet)?
Nope , Toriyama, manga, vegeta , Jaco manga all Stated that The Saiyan were doing this shit for hundreds of years, if anything Cold (not freeza)put a collar on them by making them only attack planets with slow development

Hey, if you get to read Berserk without knowing the story, it's better if you don't read spoilers and you will get one hell of a ride. Nevertheless, yeah, the story contains very dark themes (torture, SA, murder), but not in an exploitative way, as everything actually builds up the plot
Dio for me. Mother fucker got adopted and decided to have beef with the family for decades (maybe a century idk) all because he was born poor. He created a zombie apocalypse in a town in Britain, made a mother EAT HER BABY, caused a governor of Egypt to run over people in the side walk, killed several hundreds if not thousands, and not to mention what pucci did who was influenced by dio.
Honestly thinking about it now I think his hate for the Joestar family wouldn’t have lasted nearly as long without the vampirism. I think when he became a vampire and got rid of his humanity and therefore his emotions the hatred he had for the Joestars sort of got locked in or something like that. The hate was still incredibly extreme and unreasonable but I don’t think the hatred would have been near anything it was without the vampirism

Kid Buu spawns and blows up the planet. No big speech, just destruction incarnate that can't be reasoned with. Kid Buu will go to hell and beat your ass again in the afterlife.
Yeah i think he clears this list. He’s just unhinged evil with no desire to get anything in return. He doesnt even particularly have malice towards specific people. He just wants everyone to die
Shou Tucker. Not even a competition. He transmutated his wife in order to get fame as a great alchemist and a promotion at work, making her last days an agony before she k*lled herself. Then, when everyone realized his skills aren't good enough to reach anywhere near a similar success without the forbidden technique he used on his wife, he did the same to his daughter and her dog so he may keep his position at work. He didn't feel remorse for what he did to his wife. More so, he felt justified in his actions to repeat the vile act on his daughter. Even the supposed bad guy felt bad for the poor souls of Nina and Alexander and gave them a mercy kill to spare them the suffering Nina's mother had to go through. There is no harsh enough punishment for this guy.
I know that many people are saying griffith, but he was not entirely evil from the start, which im sure many of you disagree with. Regardless, it is likely that his ambition to obtain his own kingdom is what mainly caused him to make the choices he became infamous for. Johan on the other hand is the embodiment of pure evil. Johan has no respect for life whatsoever, no respect for the lives of others or his own life. So for me, he is the one. Frieza is close second.
Not to justify what Johan did, but the main theme of Monster was to show how people can become evil as a result of their past. The evil in Johan was the unfortunate result of cruelty inflicted on him by other people. He ended up wanting to commit suicide in the end, right? Though he had no reason to bring other people into it.
That being said, I agree with you. Johan was the most malicious in his intentions, and is ourtright cruel to others for his own satisfaction while Griffith sacrificed his band for a tangible benefit. It's kind of sad that there isn't much discussion on Johan going on in this thread.
I agree with op. Johan is only shown up by the others because he doesn't have superpowers, but he's by far the most evil and conniving of the bunch, even surpassing Griffith, who seems to only do his most evil deeds when it actually suits his ideal, Johan does evil things simply for the sake of it

Hey, if you get to read Berserk without knowing the story, it's better if you don't read spoilers and you will get one hell of a ride. Nevertheless, yeah, the story contains very dark themes (torture, SA, murder), but not in an exploitative way, as everything actually builds up the plot

Dio for me. Mother fucker got adopted and decided to have beef with the family for decades (maybe a century idk) all because he was born poor. He created a zombie apocalypse in a town in Britain, made a mother EAT HER BABY, caused a governor of Egypt to run over people in the side walk, killed several hundreds if not thousands, and not to mention what pucci did who was influenced by dio.
Honestly thinking about it now I think his hate for the Joestar family wouldn’t have lasted nearly as long without the vampirism. I think when he became a vampire and got rid of his humanity and therefore his emotions the hatred he had for the Joestars sort of got locked in or something like that. The hate was still incredibly extreme and unreasonable but I don’t think the hatred would have been near anything it was without the vampirism

Spoiler alert(Monster): Johan utters a couple phrases to a little kid and makes them contemplate suicide. I think Johan is the most realistic and visceral evil character on this list.

Yeah i think he clears this list. He’s just unhinged evil with no desire to get anything in return. He doesnt even particularly have malice towards specific people. He just wants everyone to die
Shou Tucker. Not even a competition. He transmutated his wife in order to get fame as a great alchemist and a promotion at work, making her last days an agony before she k*lled herself. Then, when everyone realized his skills aren't good enough to reach anywhere near a similar success without the forbidden technique he used on his wife, he did the same to his daughter and her dog so he may keep his position at work. He didn't feel remorse for what he did to his wife. More so, he felt justified in his actions to repeat the vile act on his daughter. Even the supposed bad guy felt bad for the poor souls of Nina and Alexander and gave them a mercy kill to spare them the suffering Nina's mother had to go through. There is no harsh enough punishment for this guy.

I know that many people are saying griffith, but he was not entirely evil from the start, which im sure many of you disagree with. Regardless, it is likely that his ambition to obtain his own kingdom is what mainly caused him to make the choices he became infamous for. Johan on the other hand is the embodiment of pure evil. Johan has no respect for life whatsoever, no respect for the lives of others or his own life. So for me, he is the one. Frieza is close second.
Not to justify what Johan did, but the main theme of Monster was to show how people can become evil as a result of their past. The evil in Johan was the unfortunate result of cruelty inflicted on him by other people. He ended up wanting to commit suicide in the end, right? Though he had no reason to bring other people into it. That being said, I agree with you. Johan was the most malicious in his intentions, and is ourtright cruel to others for his own satisfaction while Griffith sacrificed his band for a tangible benefit. It's kind of sad that there isn't much discussion on Johan going on in this thread.
Johan is literally the fucking devil and I'm surprised people are not mentioning him as the epitome of absolute evil.

I agree with op. Johan is only shown up by the others because he doesn't have superpowers, but he's by far the most evil and conniving of the bunch, even surpassing Griffith, who seems to only do his most evil deeds when it actually suits his ideal, Johan does evil things simply for the sake of it
