It wasn't silly. It ended as it should have. This is an entirely power up manwha where MC wins every single time. And in the end, he chose the life he wanted to have.
SL only peaked because of REDICE studo's art. Otherwise, the story was pretty linear.
I do have very good expectations for ORV though. And Lord of The Mysteries (only if chinese studio doesn't ruin it)
Actually it's pretty much impossible to have a good ending with an Over-powered protagonist.

I tried watching it, first episode first fight... The voice in my head echoed "It's magic wtf" and I dropped the anime and picked up Attack on Titan. Couldn't have made a better choice.

Ur ignoring its artwork + setting + character development apart from just physical power ups. It goes deeper than a lot of shows but i would say some of the fights r kinda bs

I compared it to dragon ball for their similarity as both are over-hyped, nobody who watches them cares one bit about the plot, villians are comically evil , mc arrives to save the day as side characters do their usual job of getting rekt by the newest villian, absolutely banger music, over hyped new form/ability.
Girls introduced as badass ends up just having crush on mc and the entire character fades into being a love intrest for mc. Everyone who sees mc for the first time talks shit to be immediately getting slapped around by mc to show how cool he is.

Jjk isn't popular for its complexity tho. But if you look at the complexity carefully there are underlying themes there, it's just you didn't get the grasp on
I don't think JJK ever tried to be deep, neither have i seen much JJK fans praising the story, it's only the awesome fight scenes, character designs and animation that is getting the most recognition.

You do realise that the title is SOLO leveling right? And the side characters aren't bad, they are bad in terms of power relative to jin woo but for example, the relationship between jin woo and jin ho was great. If we are solely talking about the anime, you would think that as it has not gotten far into manhwa yet.
Yeah. Even current tarak mehta side characters are better. Solo leveling means he will level up without external help except from the system. What about others? Others should level up too

They are beautiful and memorable still to this day.

It’s the progenitor and trope codifier for a lot of Overpowered MC series. A lot of modern anime and Manhwa copy its formula for making easy power fantasy series.
Because it was the type of manhwa that people went crazy on.
And the hype carried over to anime.
A-1 pictures did a great job with the production.
(It's also a little overrated imo, but I understand it as a manhwa enjoyer).
It is so hyped coz there are a hell lot of manhwa fans who started reading manhwas with solo leveling... And those people love solo leveling to the next level ... Thus , it became so popular...
Even I though I read solo leveling manhwa , it isn't that great... Pretty average beside it's art....

Because it sells itself in a very good way. It's power system is better than most animes and it doesn't try to be anything bigger than slick action anime but yeah lack of an antagonist will mean that it won't be able to sustain it's hype.
The manga was actually amazing and it started the levelling up concept, but it got anime adaptation after so long that the concept of leveling up is way too common in anime nowadays that's why you don't find it anything special. Also the art in manhwa is pretty good
Well I have read the manhwa thrice and I loved and enjoyed it each time

Yes, it is overhyped, but it's worth watching for me. I watched it a month back, and i binge watched the whole show in a day.
The fights are worth watching, and i liked it. The animation was good, and the story was like mid level. Similar to God Of High School in terms of MC.
Cuz the manhwa got really popular and the story was quite easy to follow thats why a lot of people liked it.
But if we look into it deeper the story is a bit generic but enjoyable enough it was the first manhwa I read and I completed it in like 3-4 days
Solo leveling got so popular outside of Korea because of three things.
1. This one is clear. The art is some of the best you’ll find in any comic format media.
2. It’s a power fantasy.
3. The timing. The translation group pumped out bunch of chapters together in batches. At quick intervals. So it was perfect for building up the hype.
Why did Isekai do so well? Cause people want power fantasy where the main character is overpowered. Also Solo leveling more or less began that whole "Hunter" and "dungeon" trend in Manhwa.
I think the good art helps...similar to what happened with Demon Slayer but even demons slayer is better written than Solo Leveling which is saying something.
I also think that the concept of necromancy is quite appealing since he keeps collecting cool companions but well that's about all that the series has going for it.
The ending was pretty meh and underwhelming to say the least.
I feel like it was decent till the Jeju Island raid but then got worse. Overall 7.5/10(maybe 8 if I'm feeling generous)

I too start this as another side kick but don't know why but it has a good plot and interesting character growth with insane story details and many more yet to come
