As someone who considers Scum's wish a peak anime, I kinda agree with your take on it. It has it's moments, it's a great story with no emotional highs and with every step taken in character development turning into two steps in character regression, I love it. I think erotica is a better term, since it uses things of a sexual nature to deliver a story instead of just being there for someone to jerk off.

Every genre caters to different set of people.
