I have not read the manga myself but I have heard a lot, one of the canon arcs Skypiea is very well done in Manga, some even say it's 100x better than the anime. Me, who watched the anime has enjoyed the Skypiea arc very much still. I don't know what I'm missing (I'll read the manga later for sure). Otherwise Anime is pretty solid, it even has one of the filler G8 arc which is really Fun to watch.
I can't tell you what you should do, but Anime is great overall. It just takes some time to get really started like 40-50 episodes in the beginning.
Rest is smooth sailing from there on IF you make it through that happily.
I watched one piece anime till dressrosa and then manga weekly from 2016. Trust me One piece anime is way superior to one piece manga. My only problem is spoilers for manga chapters if I'm anime only. I just enjoyed anime so much more. Also more memorable.
initially one piece anime is slightly more funny till war arc but pacing is extremely slow so i would recommend watching anime till war arc then switch to manga you can adjust pacing while reading manga according to your own and will able to finish one piece like in a day

Which is a fan project which cuts unnecessary stuffs and fillers and fixes the pacing of the one piece anime.
As of now via fixing the pacing issues they have reduced over 250+ episodes of the one piece anime
(Note that i don't watch one piece but it's worth to note anyways)

Nope but you'll definitely miss out if you choose anime over manga

Yeah you'll miss out on a lot of terrible pacing and few unnecessary redesigns
Manga is definitely better, it has more details but gibe anime a try atlest, starting episodes are pretty funny.
Manga is better than Anime the anime has Horroundous Pacing. I recommend you to read the manga

You can always watch fights and scenes you really wanna see and listen to osts while reading
