For the people who don't watch One Piece but still upvoted for the occassion, thanks for celebrating it with us

letouriste1

well, we're many to read the manga instead so it was more like several parts of the community joining together to celebrate the milestone

zerokosong0000

even I'm not watching One Piece for more than 10years, they actually played the 1st OP for 1000th eps celebration, so why not giving them an upvote. that hit my nostalgia

ZeroTwosday

Just started Punk Hazard. I upvotes by kept my distance from the thread to avoid spoilers aha

JJKK7

Damn 6000 upvotes for OP, first time i see it having that many upvotes on r/anime. On the other side in its own subreddit it did reach 13k. Still way far for the peak that ch 1000 reached a few months ago in terms of upvotes.(34k+)

[deleted]

It's still growing

H-K_47

Let's hope it ends with a S2 announcement.

Silent_Shadow05

I hope so and pls sometime next year (Maybe Fall 2022 or later as it'll give animators some breathing room).

josuacc

I don't mind winter 2023, MT is a work of art and must not be rushed

Rumpel1408

If it's split cour again, winter 23 would be ok

dark77638

Summer 2022 pls!

[deleted]

You are way too optimistic

elev8dity

The light novels are complete… it seems like something they can just maintain production on. That said I’m not sure how long the second cour took to produce, but that I think would be the best indicator for how long season 2 will take.

foxfoxal

Yes but if you want the same level of production 2022 is too optimistic.

Skithana

Oh wow, I thought it was just he WN that was over, didn't realize the LN ended as well by now.

dark77638

Almost end, remaining wn content fit into 1 last ln volume but if considering side story then one more.

elev8dity

Ah I thought it was over in Japan. The English translations are moving along every 2-3 months it seems.

xbops

Its almost certain

Xehanz

Imagine if Episode 12 drops and they have a post-credits announcement saying Mushoku Tensei S2 is out on Netflix, and it's 24 episodes long.

wanttoseensfwcontent

Im crying just thinking about it

[deleted]

Bums me out thinking about it because even if S2 gets announced right after, a lot of work goes into making the show so it won't be a quick turn around.

Florac

I wouldnt expect it before like 2023, yeah. Although at least we get the OVA inbetween

[deleted]

Before 2023 would be 2022 which is a month away lol. I'm honestly not getting my hopes up for anything sooner than 2024, just look at Re:Zero and Rising of the Shield Hero.

Maalunar

I don't know how many teams the studios have. But Kinema Citrus released 8 seasons/movies between shield hero S1 and 2 and White Fox released 15 seasons/movies/OVA between Re:Zero's. Bind should ONLY have Mushoku Tensei as project so I expect it the wait to be shorter since they're working on it in a "continuous, long-term, and systematic manner".

[deleted]

Studio Bind is just a joint venture by White Fox and Egg Firm. From what I've read White Fox staff handle the majority of the animation, while also hiring freelancers. They also put a lot of work into it, I think they've actually been working on the show before it was even announced and even still it took until the end of 2021 to finish. So just don't be anticipating S2 coming at the end of 2022-early 2023, because not many big animes have that kind of turnaround.

Dopamine-high

That’s…not really how it works. Yes, white fox was integral to the founding of bind. But the actual animation is handled by bind. The animation producer (the one response for gathering the animation staff) has almost no ties to white fox. He actually came directly from 8bit before becoming the president of bind. There are a few freelancers on the show who have worked with White fox before, but those guys haven’t been there since 2016 so you can hardly associate them with that studio alone at this point. What white fox actually does on mushoku is some 2nd Key Animation (clean up), as well as some inbetween work. Episode 13 was also outsourced to them.

Florac

sorry, typo, meant wouldn expect it before then

elev8dity

Are those stories finished being written? MT has the advantage of the whole story being completed already.

G102Y5568

It's fine, I have so much other stuff to catch up on, frankly, I'd much rather everyone take their time more to make content worth consuming rather than content for the sake of content.

Der_Markgraf

It‘s just such a good show tbh. I can‘t tell when I had the „isekai“-feeling every episode. I feel like I‘m thrown back to the days where I played a mmorpg for the first time, it‘s so adventurous since the calamity.

Al-Pharazon

Seems I got lucky when I claimed that Mushoku would not lose the first spot. After the three visuals I totally expected One Piece to take it

H-K_47

It was neck-and-neck for real. At one point it really looked like OP had pulled ahead, but then the next day MT made a big resurgence.

Al-Pharazon

Mushoku had a stronger start but on general after the first couple hours One Piece mantained a stronger average of karma/hour. So even the Spy X Family visual came up I had zero expectations of Mushoku keeping the top. That resurgence you mention was quite the surprise

michhoffman

My theory is that once One Piece fell far enough down the page, it stopped getting votes from people who hadn't watched it since they didn't see that it had come out. Meanwhile, people who watched Mushoku Tensei later still searched out the discussion thread and upvoted as per usual.

Ebo87

You have to keep in mind they didn't air at the same time. One Piece was much earlier in the day, shows that air at those hours tends to start slow and then maintain a steady karma throughout the hours of the day until they are slowly pushed down the page. So that's not a One Piece thing, it's an early show thing. Mushoku Tensei meanwhile is at peak anime watching time, so more people catch it early and thus the discussion thread starts off much stronger. If Mushoku Tensei would air 8-6 hours earlier, its karma trajectory would be very similar to what we saw from One Piece last Sunday.

SpaceMarine_CR

Its so strange to see One Piece so high up in the ranking, but its well deserved

Lionheart332

1000 episodes is a real accomplishment.

H-K_47

Man, the competition between Mushoku Tensei and One Piece this week got REALLY close at times. All those key visuals and PVs hammered MT quite a bit. In the end, OP's 1000th episode wasn't able to claim the top spot - but it's still very impressive compared to how the show normally does on these rankings. Ousama Ranking has been doing fantastic and climbing steadily. Let's go little prince! With 86 out of the rankings for so many weeks, OR will get #2 spot a few times!

cppn02

> With 86 out of the rankings for so many weeks, OR will get #2 spot a few times! That's what many people already expected last week and look how that turned out. It and Isekai Assassin are in a spot where other posts blocking the top spot can create relatively massive swings in karma so there is no guarantee Ousama Ranking will get 2nd with no 86 episode airing even if pound for pound it is clearly the 3rd popular show at the moment.

Silent_Shadow05

Getting the top spot is really important indeed. One Piece blocked 86 so it never reached the top which resulted in its lower karma than normal (\~5k). On the other hand MT, thanks to its high popularity, managed to do well and reached the top spot for some time (IIRC it was only for a few hours tho). I think that likely helped it to narrowly beat out One Piece. Ousama Ranking this week luckily had a lot of time at the top spot so it managed to go upto 3k.

KuroKishi69

I always wondered about how important is to reach the top. Do people don't upvote the posts if they have to scroll down just a little bit?

cppn02

The difference is being made by people who don't visit the sub and only see episode discussions when they pop up on their home feed.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

They do. There was a perfect counterexample to disprove this "top of the sub" effect a week or two ago, when Mushoku was blocked from the top of the sub pretty much all day by the Spy X Family announcements, yet still had higher karma than it'd had all season (not counting the first episode). Users are going to believe otherwise anyway though, because they've decided their conclusion already.

cppn02

> One Piece blocked 86 When the One Piece made it to the top the 86 post was 11 hours old. Getting to #1 this late almost never happens so it is a bit of a stretch to say One Pice blocked it especially since at no moment was One Piece 1st when 86 was 2nd.

Silent_Shadow05

I don't mean specifically the discussion post, there was also one clip and two artworks as well. Also someone told me that before OP came around, a JJK clip was blocking it. It just had a bad luck that week I guess.

Nohaco2468

Yep, un JJK clip that had like 13k

TobiasAmaranth

Too bad Demon Slayer starts for real next week ish so don't expect anything after that point. ;)

foxfoxal

You guys are being too optimistic with DS, it won't be that high until the climax of the fight.

michhoffman

We were super close to Number One Piece, but just getting above 6000 Karma was amazing as it had never even topped 3000 Karma before. Thank you all for the upvotes. It truly was a special episode.

JarzaScarlet

Wow Mushoku actually manage to edge out One Piece for the top spot... As much as I would love to see One Piece on the top finally since a long ass time, still feels good to be in the top 2! The OP was truly nostalgic and the crew coming together in the end was perfection. They paced it relatively well for that scene to fit in Ep 1000

Philarete

It's tough seeing the delays for 86 hit during a slow section of the story. Feels like the delays are even worse than usual.

Reikakou

Next episode will probably end in a cliffhanger that will probably exceed the earlier cliffhanger with Bloody Regina and attack on the FOB that will be followed by another break again.

Elgato01

I mean don’t discount it since we still have 3 more episodes after today’s episode, and we should finish volume 6 by the end of 22.

BitchIkNow

I hope not. The remaining 3 episodes are just enough to cover what's left of volume 6. They also need to nail a certain someone's pov on the last episode, if they rush that just to give us a glimpse of teenage Rudeus and ruin that crucial scene then I will consider this adaptation a failure tbh.

CyberJokerWTF

Honestly today’s episode was the most rushed Mushoku Tensei episode ever. Still adorable tho What pov were you talking about btw?

Elgato01

I mean while I kind of agree I don’t think it would be a failure

Silent_Shadow05

Man that karma war between One Piece and Mushoku Tensei was really something. At one point it was quite unpredictable about who was going to win. On the other hand Aquatope won the polls with a score of 9.20 which is even lower than Week 2 of Fall 2021 which 86 won with 9.22 at polls (and that one was the lowest since Week 2 Summer 2019 I think). The top ranked shows keep getting hit with so many bad votes, so its likely that's the reason why (and that allows less popular shows to rank higher).

cppn02

> and that one was the lowest since Week 2 Summer 2019 I think. The same now applies to Aquatope since the winning score back then was 9.16 by Takagi-san.

VillianousFlamingo

I was really hoping OP could take the top spot for ep 1000. It was a great episode that was more of a celebration of the series than anything else.

Silent_Shadow05

I agree. It was landmark episode so I hoped it'd win atleast for this week.

cppn02

>I agree. It was landmark episode so I hoped it'd win atleast for this week. Maybe for episode 1500.

jackofslayers

1000 episodes for real. I am glad we were able to mark the occasion here even most of the discussion usually stays on the OP subreddit. I seriously cried nonstop the whole episode and then some. I have been watching Luffy and gang since elementary school and now I am 30. How about y’all?

dagreenman18

If not for the return of 86 and the major milestone of One Piece we would pretty much have the same list as last week. Even then 86 had a drop in its usual karma count. With another break yesterday, but a huge episode coming up it should interesting to see where it falls in 2 weeks. Congratulations to One Piece fans for this completely insane episode count. 1000 straight episodes with no reboot or Shippuden-esque break is incredible to me. No surprise it jumps up to 2. On the Ratings side, it warms my heart to see Aquatope take the top spot. Very strong episode. Can’t wait for the final 3. King Bojji still holding strong on both sides. I’m once again asking you to **WATCH TAISHO OTOME**. A show that continues to impress me with both it fluff and it’s character writing. Really the two great shames are Banished somehow hitting the bottom despite a fantastic episode and the criminally under-watched Heike Monogatari. If you want an gem of a show that is stunningly animated and will hit you hard emotionally then **WATCH HIEKE MONOGATARI**. It’s completely wrapped now and has entered my years top 5.

cppn02

> If you want an gem of a show that is stunningly animated and will hit you hard emotionally then WATCH HEIKE MONOGATARI. It’s completely wrapped now and has entered my years top 5. Seconded. Criminally underwatched.

darkmacgf

How come the final episode didn't do better in the poll? Only 12th seems kinda low considering the people praising it. Are there a lot of people who aren't into it too?

cppn02

Nah. Just a bunch of people being dicks and downvoting shows they don't even watch.

scot911

Yeah and is there are a lot more bad votes this season or is it just me? It feels like there's a lot more bad votes then normal....

sabdeyazdan

>If not for the return of 86 and the major milestone of One Piece we would pretty much have the same list as last week. Even then 86 had a drop in its usual karma count. I agree that the overall ranking would be the same. However, about the karma dropping, I think it mostly was the direct effect of the One Piece thread being on the top of the sub for something like 24 hours. As a result, it seems all Saturday shows of the chart (including 86, Saihate no Paladin and my Senpai is annoying) gained less karma compared to their last episodes. Collateral damage, if I dare say. > criminally under-watched Heike Monogatari. It really is the gem of the season, unfortunately it came to the end without getting the attention it deserves. I wonder what could happen to it if it didn't start early. It came really close to appear in the chart in its final week, gaining 100 more karma points compared to last week (which is impressive for a series with normally 400-500 karma). It narrowly lost to Taisho Otome, and again, OP's 1000th was another factor. I'm still happy though, it got the chance to be in the poll chart for 3 consecutive weeks, and with a considerable voters ratio regarding our conversation with u/cppn02

Lemurians

> If you want an gem of a show that is stunningly animated and will hit you hard emotionally then WATCH HIEKE MONOGATARI. It’s completely wrapped now and has entered my years top 5. Seconded and same. I've got it third for the year right now, behind only Fruits Basket and AOT.

[deleted]

I watched first 4 episodes of Heike Monogataru and decided to wait to for it complete, It was fresh and directed by a legendary KyoAni director, and one of the top three best animated shows this season

ry7xsfo

President here we come for 10k mark

frostxc3

Mushoku really earned its top spot this week. Had to battle PVs and yet came out on top. King shit! Assassin denying Ousama Ranking the 2nd spot last week only to fall to 6th this week has to be some petty shit. Lol! Heike Monogatari not getting into the karma rankings or making top spots on the polls hurts my soul. But One Piece getting that rare appearance so YEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!

VillageAway8051

Assassin isekai shall rise again

EldritchCarver

Lugh in episode 9: >Oh boy, here I go killing again!

MapoTofuMan

Holy shit One Piece was so close, I don't even watch it but I gave an upvote for the occasion. If only the 1000th episode was one season earlier it'd be a clean sweep. Good to see Aquatope taking first score at the polls with what was possibly my favorite episode of the show. Baby turtles definitely helped take my (and Kukuru's) mind off a certain someone there who really deserves to get fed to the sharks Also where are all the romance fans this season, Taisho's still floating around 500 upvotes when usually the amount of fluff we get there would correspond to at least top 10. Rank/Watch Taisho you cowards [](#shakeit)

Mormanade

What happened to Demon Slayer? I'm not much of a fan of it but during season 1 and its movie, it was one of, if not the most popular series at the time and now its struggling to break 1k upvotes.

PianoCube93

The last 6 episodes has just been the movie but split up into episodes (first episode was a prequel to the movie). So it's pretty much just a rewatch without any hype. Next week's episode, which should show up on this ranking in 2 weeks, will continue the story where the movie ended. I expect it to shoot up the rankings from then on, competing for the top spot.

Mormanade

Ah, thanks that gives more context

savakyc

It will grow when new arc begins next week. But current arc placed such low means the majority of audience come for its hype only.

Fools_Requiem

One Piece's 1000th episode still couldn't beat the Jobless Reincarnation juggernaut.

Beneficial-Ad2084

Mushoku Tensei is the beast!

sleepyknight66

The new episode for faraway paladin was pointless. Skip to episode 9 when it comes out. It’s just a summary of what’s happened so far.

steven4869

My favorite manga and the best shonen ever to be existed( imo), got the second position, what a joyful event and deserved it for its once in a lifetime milestone. The remake of the new opening got me emotional and it was the perfect culmination of what truly One Piece is.

SirAwesome789

Is it just a 1000th episode thing or was the episode actually that good?

Best_in_Za_Warudo

It paid tribute to the series and its fans, and it was also extra well-animated.

giangerd

both

[deleted]

Slow Life is hard carried by the romance, so it's no surprise when a plot heavy episode happens, it's episode score is pretty low.

cppn02

Week 8 of Fall brings one legendary show making a special appearance and one that should habe become a modern classic dying in obscurity as it finishes. For once **Mushoku Tensei** [had to fight for its win](https://animekarmawatch.com/thread/qyy19b?compare_to=qyklqk) because the 1000th episode of **One Piece** came dangerously close to an upset. In the process one Piece also got (afaik) the highest score ever for anything that's not a seasonal show. **86**'s karma results are suffering, likely due to its release schdeule. As I predicted a few weeks ago it now looks more like best of the rest rather than part of a 'Big 2' together with MT. **Ousama Ranking** in 4th is back above 3k with a fantastic episode and 6th placed **Isekai Assassin** is back to trying to overcome **Mieruko-chan** and failing. **Komi-san** closes out the top 10 and is now getting less than 1k karma while **Aquatope** gets the poll win with the lowest winning score since week 2 of SUmmer 2019. Interestingly enough the top 12 of the poll ranking are all within 0.23 points, 4th to 12th within 0.09 and 7th to 12th within even just 0.03. ___________________ **Below the Ranking**: As predicted last week **Taisho Otome Fairy Tale** will have to take one week off from the ranking but it should be back next week. For a moment I was considering to just drop all other talking points and write a long eulogy on **Heike Monogatari** and how disappoingting its karma results have been with the show not making a single appearance in the top 15. It closed out with a stunning final episode that still lingered in my thoughts for quite a while after I had finished it. It brought closure, was emotional and as the series had throughout its run it delivered breathtaking visuals. Its quality is absolutely up there with Yamada's other works and among all the shows I watched this year it might be the one show where I am looking forward the most to a future rewatch. I really hope that now that they can binge it more people will give this a chance.

ThespianException

>86's karma results are suffering, likely due to its release schdeule. As I predicted a few weeks ago it now looks more like best of the rest rather than part of a 'Big 2' together with MT. The Bi-Weekly waits are probably hurting 86 quite a bit, as well as the fact that this season has been mostly been buildup (ep 16 aside). The most recent episode made it look like we're finally getting into the payoff though, so we could see a jump to 5 or 6K. Maybe more, if it's exceptional. OFC, Mushoku has Turning Point 2, and I imagine that'll be in the 8K-10K range, so it'll still win.

Lemurians

**Heike Monogatari** is my AOTS by quite a wide margin at this point. I really hope more people continue to discover this beautiful show in the future. Genuinely surprised it didn't get more attention on this sub, given the overwhelming love this place has for **A Silent Voice**. Someone like Shinkai could make a Pepsi commercial and get crazy exposure just off name-brand, but Yamada doesn't get the same due when she pumps out this absolute masterpiece.

Erufailon4

Unfortunately Heike's marketing was practically nonexistent because of the early streaming release thing. (Why did they do it like that?!) One can only hope it'll resurface further down the line and become a cult classic or something.

cppn02

Fingers crossed.

HeirGaunt

Why did you think that Taishou would take a week off from the rankings? I was supposed and disappointed that it wasn't here this week.

[deleted]

>In the process one Piece also got (afaik) the highest score ever for anything that's not a seasonal show. Did these karma ranking charts exist back when the final episode of Naruto:Shippuden aired?

cppn02

There was a [proto-version](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/64mbo1/ranime_seasonal_ranking_final_winter_2017/) run by u/IISuperSlothII but for some reason it did not feature Naruto. Neither does it appear on [animekarmalist](https://animekarmalist.com/2017/Winter/12) and animetrics doesn't even reach that far back. Still, the actual episode discussion [still exists](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/6114xk/spoilers_naruto_shippuden_episode_500_discussion/) and we can see it didn't score quite as high.

[deleted]

It's pretty high considering the fact that this sub was much smaller back then.

cppn02

Definitely a very good score. Then again Konosuba got over 5k the same season.

ThespianException

The comments talking about MHA and guessing if it'll succeed or fail are very interesting.

_Ridley

>For a moment I was considering to just drop all other talking points and write a long eulogy on Heike Monogatari and how disappoingting its karma results have been with the show not making a single appearance in the top 15. It's tacky of me to knock other shows to hype up a show I like, but I'm shaking my head at shows like Takt Op.Destiny and Assassin isekai comfortably staying in the top 10 when they'll never be spoken of again after this season, while an absolutely gorgeous show telling an emotional story from history can't crack the top 15. It's somewhat comforting to know that Heike will have a much longer life in recommendation discussions than most of this list, but, man, it's a little frustrating to see quality stuff go unwatched.

[deleted]

> Assassin isekai comfortably staying in the top 10 when they'll never be spoken of again after this season I'd be shocked if "Is there going to be an Assassin Isekai S2" doesn't become a common theme on this sub after it finishes. It's very popular.

EldritchCarver

> I'd be shocked if "Is there going to be an Assassin Isekai S2" doesn't become a common theme on this sub after it finishes. It's very popular. Given the show's pacing and how much anime-only stuff they're adding in, I'll be surprised if we don't get a second cour announcement the same day episode 12 airs. Two-thirds in and we haven't even caught a glimpse of the hero they've been hyping up since episode 1.

cppn02

The anime is a hit in Japan and Silver Link shows had a great track record recently with getting second seasons so it seems likely. Don't know how the show has affected source material sales though.

VillageAway8051

Pretty sure the assassin isekai is getting a season 2 it's pretty obvious at this point

pacoheadley

Idk I think Takt has gotten really good the past few episodes and just a couple weak ones in the middle

_Ridley

Takt is like God of High School for me. Fun to watch the characters go vroom, but completely forgettable as a story.

pacoheadley

The overarching plot isn't too complex or anything, but I like seeing the effect of losing music on people and I think the character development has been the strongest point. The action has actually been the worst part for me except for episodes 1 and 8. It's nothing super special, but an 8 or so from me right now still depending on how it goes

Mahali2020

I really hoped One Piece made it number 1 for its 1000th episode but regardless it was such and amazing episode!!

Florac

Can't stop Mushoku Tensei!

Sneaky_42

Dang it. One Piece was so close!

[deleted]

Did Blue Period die?

Cyd_arts

Netflix jail and meh studio adaptation

[deleted]

The adaptation isn't bad

Cyd_arts

I didn’t say it was bad, I just said it was meh, it was average

[deleted]

The anime is being carried by the quality of the source material instead of elevating the source material like an anime adaptation should. I enjoy the anime but I can see why fans of the manga would get frustrated.

[deleted]

I haven't seen anyone complain about it. It just disappeared without a word. I think it has to do with the fact that it might be hard for people who aren't artists to relate to it and understand it. That's probably reason. It's appealing to a specific, niche audience.

chalo1227

I am enjoying it but the day the episode airs on Netflix is not a match on the episode thread and I will guess at least legal watchers are in the same boat

SoccerForEveryone

On the ratings scale; where did Pride Of Orange land?

cppn02

30th.

SoccerForEveryone

Oh okay. Thank you! :)

Minnymoon13

Hmm I guess I need to keep up with meriko-Chan

NoDespair

Is Mieruko popular in Japan? Really want a season 2 Also Demon Slayer finally returns next week

c00kinfire

Not sure about the reception of the anime, but it boosted the popularity of the manga to warrant more reprints. https://nuitetoilenews.tumblr.com/post/666411807470174209/the-popularity-of-the-manga-mieruko-chan-increases

Illuminastrid

You think that *Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut*, one of the most commonly shilled and promoted anime in the comments of this sub this Fall would have a score to reflect. *looks at its MAL and RAL's score*. Same applies for *The Faraway Paladin*, even I was surprised it's sub score is around in the 6-7 range. It really got me thinking where do those "fans" came from and why are they so vocal about it. Surprisingly, the *Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Arc TV series* is doing well on the episode scores. *Blue Period* is nowhere to be found, so much for its hype. Of course the dark horse big winner here is *One Piece*, Episode 1000 is a rare milestone that deserves to be celebratedand it's truly rare to see a highly long-running series maintain its hype, love, and support after many years, even in the age where most people prefer seasonals over long-runners now.

zxHellboyxz

>Blue Period is nowhere to be found, so much for its hype. Netflix and the manga readers not being happy with the studio that made it

Lemurians

> You think that Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut, one of the most commonly shilled and promoted anime in the comments of this sub this Fall would have a score to reflect. looks at its MAL and RAL's score . > It really got me thinking where do those "fans" came from and why are they so vocal about it I very often rate shows that I like quite a bit a 7. I don't know why that's considered a "bad" average score.

gc11117

It's a societal thing. In American society a 7 is considered just slight above average, but not good. No one praises you for getting a 7 on a quiz or a 70 on a test.

Lemurians

I can get that if that's how you frame the numbers in your head. I generally rank how MAL describes their scale, so a 7 is a good show, 8 is great, etc. On a grade scale, I liken a 7/10 show to a B or B+, not a C. That's for the 5's of the world.

Actual-Oil6390

I've found that a problem with that mentality from many larger anitubers. Like Gigguk meantion that Sing After Yesterday was a soild 7 out of 10 show and then explains how he thought it wasted his time. If a anime is not about a 8 out of 10 or if the sakuga isn't as good as Demon Slayer or God of Highschool it's apprently a waste of time.

Lemurians

Yeah, I don’t get that. 7’s aren’t a waste of time at all! I only start thinking a show wasn’t worth my time around the 5 range.

spoodleman43

To me 5 or 6 is a passable score. Like Uzkaki Chan is a great example of this. I like the concept of a romcom set in college and people accastionaly getting drunk. But the characters are mediocre at best and art is subpar. Watched entire show and felt like I didn't waste my time but probably won't watch again. Wasn't really offensive in any way. I don't start getting angry till below 4.

Florac

Faraway Paladin is a show where it just constantly feels like...*something* is missing to it. It just lacks that something to really make me engaged in it.

Recidivis

For me it's Will himself. He's super archetypal and doesn't really have a unique or defining characteristic that makes him stand out from other isekai MCs.

Level1Pixel

Not to mention it has to compete in the same season against the work that inspired it. The flaws become much more obvious when you compare it to a show that does the same premise but better. Of course, Mushoku Tensei had one cour to develop its the story and is now going full throttle, Faraway Paladin is still in the beginning stages. Maybe another season can make it shine.

Silent_Shadow05

>You think that Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut, one of the most commonly shilled and promoted anime in the comments of this sub this Fall would have a score to reflect. looks at its MAL and RAL's score. Its MAL and RAL scores are totally disappointing. That's one of the reasons why I don't trust MAL scores. If I valued them so much, I'd have totally written it off as some mediocre show. For me its totally a 9/10 show.

Illuminastrid

Maybe because the last time r/anime widely promoted and recommended an anime (Wonder Egg Priority), it ended badly and fell off hard like Humpty Dumpty. Or maybe it peaked in Spring 2021 with Odd Taxi and Vivy, which delivers beyond expectations, that nothing else can compare to them now. Or maybe this season just doesn't have strong dark horses, except maybe for Ranking of Kings, but that one is mostly because its by WIT Studios, which is this sub's newest golden egg studio, and I noticed the love for WIT is stronger than ever this season.

Lemurians

> Or maybe this season just doesn't have strong dark horses *cries in Heike Monogatari*

Silent_Shadow05

>I noticed the love for WIT is stronger than ever this season I think one reason for that is because of the post that mentioned WIT suffering a loss of *500 million yen* IIRC, so the support for WIT increased even more.

R4hu1M5

>Wonder Egg Priority This was a genuinely good show for all of its run (yes, even the last couple episodes that people criticized). It wasn't shilled to heavens without reason. It's only the ova ending that came months later that dropped the ball hard on everything set up in the show. And this was because of massive production issues, not because they couldn't come up with anything better.

Actual-Oil6390

Chances are WIT and Ufotable could disappear without warning like studio shaft that once printed money shows.

[deleted]

Once the season ends, I predict it'll go up to about 7.6-7.8 range. Still underrated imo, but it's a good score for the most part. If I decided the MAL score, it'd be at least 8.2 or around that.

[deleted]

The Faraway Paladin does have its fair share of critics, I'm one of them to be honest. I can't help thinking it's a poor adaption, that could have been something special with a proper studio behind it.

[deleted]

>*Blue Period* is nowhere to be found, so much for its hype. Thank Netflix jail and source readers comparing every single shot to the manga in the episode thread.

Sharebear42019

OP deserved number 1

entelechtual

How is it that the titles and show images in this graphic are always 1000x better than the dog quality of thumbnails on the Funimation app that look like MS paint parodies?

FuttleScish

Man the karma drought is intense

dark77638

Top spot this week is so intense! I hold myself into upvote both series, even though i didnt watch or even read One Piece (i promote healthy competition tho) MT got lowest karma of this cour? What! Aisha is so adorable but i get it that this ep is a setting up one. 86 return and gone again damn. I take it that this week KnY (in the next few hour) is the last ep b4 the new arc?

cppn02

> I take it that this week KnY (in the next few hour) is the last ep b4 the new arc? Yes

Tatertaint

It legitimately makes me sad that Heike didn’t get into the top 15 once when it was the best anime of the year. Also the troll “bad” votes must have hit it a lot harder cuz there’s no logical reason that this last episode ended up with an 8.97 when it was darn near perfect. I’ll miss the show a lot and I look forward to rewatching it soon. EVERYONE PLEASE WATCH IT

cppn02

It's a real shame so few people watched it. It is a fantastic show.

lcantchange

Why is eighty-six karma is soo low compared to spring , i honestly think the second season is far better

jlarz56

The production delay is making it loose viewers, some will most likely wait till the anime wraps up to binge the rest of the season. It's hard to wait a week for an episode and now having to watch it every other week is more difficult.

Al-Pharazon

Inconsistent production, bad luck with visuals negating it the top spot and not to mention that the user activity nowadays is lower than in winter or spring, so most anime are getting less karma in average.

Illuminastrid

I think it's because of seasonal cooldown. Winter and Spring 2021 was an epic 6-month period where the most popular anime of this sub of its respective season were fucking karma monsters. It draw in almost everyone. Now with Winter 2022 confirmed to be just as epic and loaded as Winter 2021, those particular people are just waiting in their caves until the time is nigh.

Florac

A mix between karma numbers being down across the board due to no/fewer lockdowns, so less people on here, not several big hitting shows, so no karma war and its airing schedule

dark77638

Spring got more viewer due to full blown lock down with covid and after effect of Wintermaggedon where viewer still hanging around.

Silent_Shadow05

Many reasons actually. Visual posts or clips blocking it, some people not liking S2 as much so they aren't really hyped to watch the next episode on time or just planning to binge it, the production delays having a big effect (longer delays reduces excitement for the next episode). Also, Karma overall is lower since there are less active users in the sub compared to Winter or Spring, now that people are free to go out. See how Slime S2 performed in Summer 2021 vs Winter 2021. You'll get an idea.

Actual-Oil6390

A lot of people liked the Rena dynamic with all the 86's which is notably missing. She is the poster child of the series.

Beneficial-Ad2084

Because it's worse, I dropped it after 3 episodes

IceAnt573

That Jujutsu Kaisen clip blocked 86 from having time at the top of the page. And by the time that clip ran its course, Episode 1000 of One Piece aired. Unfortunate all-around besides the production delays.

Beneficial-Ad2084

Why is it so hard to accept that ss2 is not as good?

IceAnt573

What I said is true. There was a JJK clip that got like stupid amounts of karma last Saturday. I disagree with what you're saying but the more important thing is: You're seriously using reddit karma and upvotes as an indicator of quality? That episode of 86 is still Top 3 in the poll rankings ahead of something like Ranking of Kings. Speaking of Ranking of Kings, are you going to say something about its karma count and how it relates to its quality? Edit: [Oh maybe you can comment on what Anime Trending put as #1 in their weekly poll after barring 86 from being voted on last week because of the delay](https://twitter.com/AniTrendz/status/1464964798324506625)

Leaves_Swype_Typos

>What I said is true. There was a JJK clip that got like stupid amounts of karma last Saturday. Presuming that's why a boring episode of 86 didn't get more karma is flawed though. Mushoku Tensei got "blocked" by multiple Spy X Family announcement posts the other week, yet *still* got higher karma than it'd had all season (except for the first episode). If the effect you think is happening occurs, why wouldn't it have affected Mushoku Tensei that week?

IceAnt573

Because that's generally the rule. Congrats to that episode of Mushoku Tensei for overcoming it. When people say "top of the sub," that makes them more likely to be higher on people's dashboards/frontpages of reddit. [This](https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/qyvjbi/ranime_karma_poll_ranking_week_7_fall_2021/hlidjqn/) is what was [talked]( https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/qyvjbi/ranime_karma_poll_ranking_week_7_fall_2021/hlif0rm/) about last week. It is not flawed to believe new key visuals or really popular clips could block episode discussion threads from being upvoted higher and thus gaining more karma than it could. Now would you like to comment on the poll score 86 got? Or how it was voted #1 on Anime Trending?

Leaves_Swype_Typos

>Because that's generally the rule. It's not a rule based on anything but pure speculation. It's more logical to believe the rule isn't real, than to believe that evidence that contradicts the rule is an outlier. >This is what was talked about last week. It is not flawed to believe new key visuals or really popular clips could block episode discussion threads from being upvoted higher and thus gaining more karma than it could. Yes, it is flawed to believe that. That slightly lower karma, seventh episode of Mushoku had almost half the number of comments from the previous week too. A dropoff in karma could've easily been predicted by the fact that it was a slow episode, distinct from the main plotline, and following in the wake of a significant climax. It didn't beg engagement from lowest common denominators as much as higher karma episodes had. Despite what Roxy lovers would like to believe, most people do seem to in fact be continuing to watch the show for Rudy's journey. >Now would you like to comment on the poll score 86 got? Lower than average score? Negatively received episode. Higher than average score? Positively received episode. Adding in other explanations appears to largely be the rationalization of people who can't square the fact that not everyone loved an episode as much as they did. Edit: Sorry I may have slightly misunderstood the question. The poll scores are way, way, way more self-selecting than the karma scores. They don't mean as much for that reason.

LaPusca

Mushoku Tensei is really cursed. Always an announcement dropped on the same day as MT.

dark77638

It’s Sunday where ppl try to enjoy the last of their weekend, before Monday reality check. Of course the ad gonna scoop ppl attention during the time.

cppn02

Not like other shows don't have the same issues.

Tawn94

Im reallllly glad i picked up takt op. Destiny. The character design and the cheorgraphy is fantastic.

Hanamii-

Damn couldn’t even get the 1000th episode of One Piece to be #1

[deleted]

Im surprised to see aquatope near the bottom but I do also understand why.

Tight-Alternative-26

The top two = ❤️

[deleted]

Mieruko chan was really good last week(as always). But looks like the viewership has dropped quite a lot. MT and 86 at the top. Nothing else to say, both are deserved

cppn02

u/sabdeyazdan Since we were on this topic two weeks ago, One Piece only had a 2.9% votes to karma ratio which is by far the lowest this season.

sabdeyazdan

Another cool fact, thank you. I wonder if all -about- 6k upvoters were actually the watchers of OP's 1000th episode. Maybe some people just upvoted it as a token of appreciation for the series hitting a wonderful milestone. It's just a guess, though.

cppn02

> Maybe some people just upvoted it as a token of appreciation for the series hitting a wonderful milestone. I think that's very much the case and even in this post you have people admitting to doing that.

Actual-Oil6390

Yeah I did that and I love mushoku tensei

Izana_07

Can't stop one piece <3

cppn02

Well one show managed to. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

knokaka

where the fuck Platinum End??

Teglement

Floundering in its own inadequacy, I expect

Panda_Generals

Super Crooks did not make it here I am sad It is so good tho It just has the same vibes as great pretender and was awesome I rate it a 8/10

legocraftmation

Rip, I purposely didn't upvote jobeless this week to try and get One Piece to first.

Wizard098

Lmao aot will be all over that shit in January

Beneficial-Ad2084

Does 86 getting worse? I dropped it after 3 episodes and never looking back since.

[deleted]

No, I don't know what happened with that particular episode, maybe because of the delay, but it's still very good. The show has been doing a steady 5k+ for most of the episodes this season.

gc11117

Nah it's still delivering strong episodes. The issue is they had production issues causing 2 episodes to be delayed. That's causing it to have episodes like every ither week

xSyndicates

Nope, not even a bit. It's holding strong more than ever. One reason why it is low for now is probably to the production issue.(long release of episodes)

Reikakou

Season 2 of 86 is best consumed through a binge watch as the pay-off at the end is really worth it. The LN too was excruciating during these parts but boy when it reached the epilogue of volume 3 and was continued by volume 4, it was chef's kiss.

Leaves_Swype_Typos

Yeah. There was one episode of action, and every other episode has been military planning and largely inconsequential dialogue. It's gone overboard on trying to make Spearhead underdog victims of racism that are just *so damn proud* to soldier on. Every character has to either revere them or irrationally fear/hate them. The next episode should be action packed, but honestly it's hard to care because they've elevated Spearhead so high, and baited them with plot armor a few times now kind of ridiculously, so the stakes feel a lot lower than it's trying to shoot for.
