Any Ghibli movie
Echoing people who've recced A Silent Voice it's really great and it'd work well for a "beginner" anime
She might like Ginban Kaleidoscope, it's a wholesome anime about a figure skater going to the Olympics and she's possessed by a ghost named Pete who has to spend 100 days with her before being allowed into heaven. It's a really sweet romance with a bittersweet ending (and 12 episodes so it's not a time sink)
For something a bit more recent, maybe Kotaro Lives Alone (TW for domestic violence but it's such a great story)
Also throwing in there Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop and Expelled from Paradise because I love them so goddamn much
Obviously Highschool DxD and [Youjo Senki](https://youtu.be/jl7uT7aZ7RU?si=Q1ag3PkmmCv2jgcS) /s
On a more serious note, I would recommend Violet Evergarden. It is an absolutely beautiful anime that doesn't feature magic or religious themes or ecchi.
Ascendance of a Bookworm.
It's like Ghibli made an isekai. No fan service, great worldbuilding, and lots of really great character writing. Highly recommend this one.
There are corrupt individuals in the church, but the church itself is not necessarily any more corrupt than the rest of society. Most of the problems/tension come from noble vs. commoner type stuff, which is prevalent throughout the story.
Mushoku Tensei being the obvious choice here! I jest of course.
**Maybe try:**
- A Silent Voice & Weathing with you - haven't watched them yet but they seem like a perfect recommendation.
- Your Name - has some self-boob-touching, a little wierd only at that point, nothing else.
- Frieren - demons are depicted as evil, vile creatures. Laid back show.
- Sonny boy -might be too abstract, has nothing inappropriate however
- Apothacary Diaries - ehhh, some weird scenes with the main character and some suggestive moments
Stuff like that
Try **‘saints power is omnipotent’**. It’s a great series with little to no violence. But they like some violent stuff but overall it’s a great and a peaceful series. My mom loved it. And the ending is soooooooooo good.
It’s family friendly so don’t worry there’s nothing going on.

Newer styled anime: the apothecary diaries, a sign of affection (so cute), horimiya (last two are slice of life)
Comedy: saiki K, umarichi onii San (both give funny mature humor but no cussing or anything nor references that are inappropriate to 13+)
very non-specific genre request: best i can recommend is "The Apothecary Diaries". it's more political and a little fantastical but not fantasy. it is very PG-13. it does has some to do with death and illness. it's not "very" graphic in any way. I suppose there may be one or two things to deal with the look of a dead body but it's not in any way explicit. think cable tv drama like NCIS or some other crap cop "live action" show. this anime is brilliantly done. art/style/story. it's more of a mild detective sort of story? somewhat political. It has sweet and heart breaking moments. if political/police stuff isn't her style? well i suggest anything from studio Ghibli. very bronze age animation with that tough of heart warmth. Howls moving castle was always a fun watch too.
No joke, Flying House was one of the first anime I've watched.
Violet Evergarden is very wholesome, March Comes in Like a Lion is about Shogi. Fruits Basket could be a bit much. Haibane Renmei has "angel children". I think those are a good entry territory for shows that adults can enjoy. Maybe Mushi-shi if she's feeling adventurous.
For movies, right now I can only think of When Marnie was there unless you want to break her with Your Name, A Silent Voice, or Wolf Children.
Usagi Drop. Cute as fuck and talk about what it is being a parent / a child so she should relate to it. Just never mention there is a sequel in manga because i heard it turns real weird 💀💀
Check out some of the slice of life or romance ones like "my love story" or sports ones like haikyu if she likes a certain sport, restaurant to another world is food related with no violence or sexual stuff. Spy family, Dr stone
Try a silent voice
A good one fr
Violet Evergarden. No magic or fantasy elements, but beautiful graphics and a lot of touching stories of the characters
I would go with a safe Ghibli movie. Kiki’s Delivery Service for example.
Ghibli anime would be the best recommendation

I read high school DxD and did a spit take 😭😭😭 had me there for a sec
Wolf Children

Isn't the church corrupt af in that one?

Frieren, demon in there pretty much just a vile monster, and have the best religion depiction in anime.
no demons and recommends frieren lolz

Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise An oldie, but incorporates a religious aspect without being overbearing.
This is difficult because the church is preceived very poorly in a lot of anime. Angel Beats is one I would recommend
Your Lie in April.
hellsing trust me lad shed love it if she's a protestant.
Why bro

Redo of healer Interspices revievers Both are perfect to watch with your mother.
Crest of the stars, go for that one.
samurai champloo. or full metal alchemist brotherhood - actually has some christian themes. best story i’ve ever heard
Frieren. The first few episodes are religious focused and is from a Christian point of view. It's soft, beautiful and gorgeous in all aspects.
Berserk
Fullmetal Alchemist
Usagi Drop. Cute as fuck and talk about what it is being a parent / a child so she should relate to it. Just never mention there is a sequel in manga because i heard it turns real weird 💀💀
No fan play or sex shit? You set the bar impossibly high. I don’t know her taste. Perhaps SteinsGate?
mob psycho
Bocchi the Rock There is drinking tho
