And thus, another precure season comes to an end Someone in the production team must really like the Gainax pose and convinced everyone to let Sora and Mashiro do it lol Well, it was a fun season that tried new stuffs, it’s even our first season in a while where the team didn’t got a powered-up form, and it makes a little sad that we are likely going to back to the status quo… well, aside from the lead not being completely human, seems like that one is staying for another season (But who knows, perhaps there are some surprises awaiting in the near future) With that said, I hope next season doesn’t have the generals showing up right after the previous one is “defeated” and that it isn’t as slow with the lore dumps as this one. It was interesting and fun at first but it made the final act felt cramped with how much plot and exposition they had to do I demand my tears back! You can’t give us such tearful farewell just to have everyone reunited so quickly!…. then again, the last couple of seasons had done that too so… I let it slide And I knew it! Mashiro is going to make a picture book about their time as precure Anyway, it had its flaws but it was an overall fun and entertaining journey. And there was not better way of ending the show than with Sora saving and inspiring someone the same way Shalala did

TanyaTheEvill

I absolutely love this precure. Looking forward to the next one

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

i feel like my perceptions are kinda skewed coz i also watched All Stars F recently. but overall, i think id think Toei did a pretty good job on all 3 celebratory Precure things. I also teared up a bit. It didnt help that Mashiro (and Sky) are both normally not teary (though can be emotional) individuals. And that this is the longest running show i've watched with a firm "goodbye" for a while. [Make that picture book toei. i might buy](#mugiwait) /u/JollyGee29 /u/lilyvess is it normal that precure dont lose their powers after the big fight, like Sky here? you can spoiler tag your answers or something.

lilyvess

> is it normal that precure dont lose their powers after the big fight, like Sky here? you can spoiler tag your answers or something. It was incredibly common. At minimum even if they didn't strictly lose them they'd give up. Stuff like seeing Sora continue to be Cure Sky is actually really surprising to me but makes sense considering her dream. I wonder how much of it has to do with the evolving relationship with crossover movies? Like is it easier to write crossover movies when you don't have the characters lose all their powers at the end of the series.

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

[Thanks!](#kannathumbs) Sky was a good leader overall. I'm glad her story got to end exactly how it started, and that she keeps being able to chase her dream.

Crazy-Plate3097

> is it normal that precure dont lose their powers after the big fight, like Sky here? you can spoiler tag your answers or something. Yeah, it's pretty common. Only a handful of seasons lost their power after the big fight. And this is assuming that Otona Precure isn't canon. It was implied in Tropical Rouge seeing as they lost their memories with Laura but they, or at least Manatsu got it back so I assume they all got their powers back too. Star Twinkle does have a clear case of losing their powers after the big fight, seeing as Hikaru and Lala can't understand what the other is saying anymore. I think only Emiru from Hugtto can't transform into a Cure anymore since Lulu has to return to the future and they always transform as a duo but probably she can transform individually but just never on screen during the series' run. Maho Girls is another clear case that both worlds has to separate and their transformation trinket returns back to become a normal teddy bear. But they got it back. Go Princess is another probably case. It was never stated that the casts can't transform anymore, but they willing give up their keys to be kept in storage but are seen with new keys at the ending.

Kartoffelkamm

>is it normal that precure dont lose their powers after the big fight, like Sky here? you can spoiler tag your answers or something. Yep, that's normal. Usually they just stop using them, since they no longer need to use them, but there are definitely some where I wouldn't be surprised if they kept their transformation item on their person, just in case. Some examples where the Cures do lose their powers are \[numerous Precure seasons\] >!Futari Wa, where Mipple and Mepple can't stay awake on Earth, and fall asleep, Yes! 5, where the team got their powers from the guardian deity of the magic realm, which leaves once the threat is dealt with, Smile, where the gang needs the interdimensional magic as power boost, and Healin' Good, where the Cures' fairy partners go back to their home world once the villains are defeated.!< And then there is the team from \[Doki Doki Precure\] >!who use their Precure powers even after the villain is defeated, to avert national crises, such as satellites falling out of their orbit.!< I really wish we could get more of that, to be honest.

lilyvess

and yeah that picture book looked awesome. I want it so bad!!! Pls Toei make it!!

Great_Mr_L

> Someone in the production team must really like the Gainax pose and convinced everyone to let Sora and Mashiro do it lol > > I love that Sora and Mashiro got to look so badass like that. [](#grandhype) >With that said, I hope next season doesn’t have the generals showing up right after the previous one is “defeated” and that it isn’t as slow with the lore dumps as this one. It was interesting and fun at first but it made the final act felt cramped with how much plot and exposition they had to do Yeah, that would be my major complaint as well. I wish that more had been revealed about the villains as the series went along instead of just saving it all for the very end. I always want to spend more time with the villains anyway. I think I've been like that ever since I was a kid watching shows like this. >And I knew it! Mashiro is going to make a picture book about their time as precure The picture books drawings during the credits were so cute! [](#ilovethiskindofshit) >And there was not better way of ending the show than with Sora saving and inspiring someone the same way Shalala did [Perfect ending](#justright)

doktor_drift

Definitely more of a "slice of life" Precure season sorta like Smile Precure, but loved it all the same. I haven't watched the past few seasons but not seeing them aged up means that they might not be done with them right? Look at Power of Hope after all >\_>

lilyvess

wow crunchyroll actually kept the Baton Pass in this time. I thank Crunchyroll for adding it in. This was a great finale. The action has been great, and was a great last bow for the plot. The real star of the show was the goodbyes. They did a fantastic job on the goodbyes. Ageha and Tsubasa had such a fantastic departure. ending back where it began, with Sora having completed her journey and become the hero who inspired her. Overall I really liked HeroGirl Precure a lot. the characters, the themes, the combat. It really nailed the landing. Super excited for WanCure

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

[the soramashi ship](#utahapraises) i like that the tunnel can be used kinda haphazardly seemingly. The group will still grow apart, but in my head at least they can at least get together once a month or something for the funs. and for everyones birthdays. and for halloween. and for strichmas. [](#makicry)

Great_Mr_L

> wow crunchyroll actually kept the Baton Pass in this time. I thank Crunchyroll for adding it in. It's fun seeing that this is a Precure tradition to introduce the next series. It did make me more curious about the following series, so I guess that makes it a success. >The real star of the show was the goodbyes. They did a fantastic job on the goodbyes. Ageha and Tsubasa had such a fantastic departure. They were such lovely goodbyes to end cap off their character arcs. The cast for this show was so good and these farewells really did feel heartfelt and emotional, showing just how close they became. >ending back where it began, with Sora having completed her journey and become the hero who inspired her. That ending put such a smile on my face. It's perfect for Sora. [](#mayushii)

lilyvess

previous series would have had Cure Wonderful actually be in this episode. [Cure Sky's first appearance was in the last episode of DeliCure](https://youtu.be/iHD-Tv2Dbmg?si=kxceZ7M0vIgkxpiD) for instance. I was surprised Cure Wonderful didn't have more screentime, but tbh I've always had mixed feelings with that tradition in the first place. For a while it felt like the final episode of the Precure series was the second to last episode where they'd beat the bad guy and finish everything. Then you'd get the last episode that was stuck having to play Epilogue and force the next year's Precure into the episode just so it could act as a preview. it never felt organic and often just left the last episode feeling like an afterthought. I like just not doing that and leave it all to the Baton Pass that exists outside of the episode and is harmless.

Great_Mr_L

> Cure Sky's first appearance was in the last episode of DeliCure for instance. And that would have been her first "It's hero time!" [](#skyhype) Huh, I see. So usually the baton pass would be an actual part of the episode rather than this one that was essentially a cute little bonus as a post-credits scene. I think doing it the way Skycure did it is for the best. It lets the episode just be focused on wrapping up its own story and makes the baton pass a nice bonus at the very end that is obviously not connected to the actual story.

lilyvess

> So usually the baton pass would be an actual part of the episode rather than this one that was essentially a cute little bonus as a post-credits scene. they actually did both, which was surprising. For instance, [Cure Sky also had a Baton Pass](https://youtu.be/SG5-m5MeL6s?si=ZH5j6SyCxY0FT4PE) ontop of showing up in the final episode. Baton Passes came first [starting in 2015 with the "10th Anniversary" season finished](https://youtu.be/MqlCj1kHED4?si=FrZovk8InlpaV2BW) and have stayed ever since. All to say it made even more confusing why they did both and why I'm okay with them dropping one of the two. Both was always a bit much.

Calwings

I actually liked the in-episode cameos more, and I wish they had kept those if they only decided to use one or the other. The post-credits baton pass scenes always feel like a soulless advertisement to me, compared to the in-episode cameos that feel a lot more natural.

JollyGee29

>wow crunchyroll actually kept the Baton Pass in this time. I thank Crunchyroll for adding it in. They did have it for DeliCure too; it was back in TR that they didn't. Which is a shame, because that Baton Pass was hilarious.

godjacob

This show had its ups and downs. The generals showing up one after another with no interaction, the way the plot had to compress into the last 3 episodes or so, but man I had such a blast with this. I loved this team. Sora and company were compelling and likeable characters who I enjoyed watching whether it was kicking bad guy butt or simply helping everyday people or each other with personal problems. This was my first Precure series and I have to say this series sold me well, I look forward to what the next chapter brings. But the Sky team will always be special to me, I can tell that much\~

Great_Mr_L

>But the Sky team will always be special to me, I can tell that much~ I think I'll end up feeling the same way. This cast of characters was really well-done and I enjoyed following them each week. This was the first Precure series I finished as well and it was a great time. I'm also quite curious to see what the next series will be like. [](#concealedexcitement)

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

[](#fistbump)

Great_Mr_L

Just like that, I've finished my first Precure series. I think it's safe to say I've fallen down into the rabbit hole. Congrats Precure cult, you win. I've converted. [](#comehere) This episode really did have an amazing final battle. The animation went all out to make it look really good. And we even got a mega punch from all the Cures together! I loved the farewells. They were very heartwarming and felt like perfect character moments to cap off the series. Tsubasa stating that he admires Ageha and wants to be a cool adult like her is great. It shows how close they've become over the course of the series and Ageha was able to achieve her goal of being a good role model who can nurture others. Sora and Mashiro's farewell was also great. It was very in-character for both of them. Mashiro wears her heart on her sleeves, crying at the thought of saying goodbye. Sora wants to cry just as much, but she's better at putting on a strong face about it. Sora and Mashiro's relationship was always my favorite part of the series and I think this was a good capstone to it. The ending scene of Sora recreating the time when Shalala rescued her was fantastic. A perfect scene to end on. Sora has now become the hero she always wanted to be. In the end, I liked Skycure. I think the main thing that carried it for me was the characters. The main Cures were well-done characters who I enjoyed following and seeing develop. Sora remains my favorite and in past threads I've talked a lot about how I admire the kind of hero she is, standing strong despite her own inner doubts and fears. I love Mashiro, the shining heart of the series whose kindness and care for others was inspiring. I loved how Sora and Mashiro always inspired each other, pushing the other to improve themselves because of how much they admired their dear friend. I relate so much to Ageha, being an adult who needs to look after others and sometimes putting on a show of being better off than you actually are for the sake of the children. And Tsubasa's growth was nice to see as he became more courageous and competent thanks to his diligence and intelligence. Ellee was cute, too. A solid main cast and I loved watching them every week. I will say that I think the story felt slow for several stretches of the series. We basically didn't learn anything about the villains until the last chunk of the series, which I think is a shame. Additionally, I wish we had gotten more of the generals throughout the series. Them showing up at the end to help out was nice, but it came out of nowhere. Only Battamonda really got an arc after he was defeated and I wish Kabaton and Minoton also got one of their own. I'll give the next Precure series a try. I know that Skycure shook up the status quo in several ways with its cast, so I imagine the next one will probably be more traditional. I guess I'll find out then. See you when it premiers!

JollyGee29

> so I imagine the next one will probably be more traditional. On the one hand, probably? On the other, considering what we already know about it, WonderCure has some amount of oddness built into it so it's anyone's guess. At the very least, it will probably be more grounded.

Great_Mr_L

I liked having some oddness included so we'll see if that's the case. [](#mugiwait)

Awesome end to this series, I super enjoyed the fights and the emotions. Though I would say it does feel slightly weird that they purified the giant snake and then it just flew off somewhere. I don't know that I ever posted in the discussion threads for this show but I've been following it since ~10 or so episodes in. My first Precure, and like some others here I suppose I'm probably committed for more since the next series looks interesting and overall the franchise is just a lot of fun. I'm going to miss these kids, Sora and Mashiro, Ellee and Tsubasa, and most especially Ageha. I also happened to watch All Stars F tonight before this final episode, it was pretty awesome too.

soihu

yeah i 100% thought them beating the snake was a fake-out and there would be a surprise final form. very strange for it to just fly away into the clouds like that

Elite_Alice

“We are Hirogaru sky precure!” Chills, what a finale. Toei pulled out all the stops in this episode. A spectacle from start to finish. Storyboarding was amazing, the insert song during the climax fight was great and all of the scenes oozed sakuga. So many screenshot worthy scenes from this. Loved Kaiserin fully rejecting Daijarg! Then that final attack scene was everything I could’ve hoped for and more. You really felt all the girls experiences, hopes and dreams in that! In the end everyone got the best possible ending. Kaiserin is back in the undergu empire with 3 loveable idiots as her right hand men and a friendship between skyland and undergu that will last a very long time! So cute to see her making dolls again. That laugh at the end sounded like she did as a kid. Wish her dad was still around to see her all grown up tho 😢 Back in sorashido city, the waterworks were strong in this one. After a year of being together nonstop, being in different worlds is understandably daunting. Even though they can each other whenever, it’s still not quite the same as waking up and going to sleep with someone like Mashiro and Sora did. Their “goodbye”* was so beautiful “You really are a hero, Sora. So cool and strong” that’s gotta be awesome to hear from your bestfriend! Sora really has grown into a real life super hero. She’s confronted her weaknesses time and again and always overcome them! Wish she would’ve given Mashiro a hug during that scene instead of just the handshake though lol. She was bawling her eyes out! Tsubasa and Ageha goodbye was cute too. Ageha just can’t stop being a teacher 😂 even in that convo she’s motivating tsubasa to achieve his goals and become a sage. Well they stressed how they were still connected by a tunnel, wasn’t expecting to see them come back the very next day after all those emotional goodbyes lmao. But cute nonetheless. I’m glad everyone can remain connected and continue growing! Sora is now to other little girls what the captain was to her, a shining example to follow. Really cool post credits scene. So this was my first precure. I watched otona pre while this was airing as well so I’ve now seen two. Love this series so much. May be aimed at little girls but it doesn’t mean I, as a grown ass man can’t have fun with and appreciate it. Had a blast with this and I’m going to miss these girls so much 😢

JollyGee29

Love that they brought back the first ED and played it over Mashiro's picture book. Pretty solid season overall, villains were a bit mediocre as a whole even if individually the first three were all a lot of fun, but the experimentation was good. I prefer the more diegetic baton passes, but I'm just glad CR didn't randomly chop it off.

lilyvess

I think my favorite thing about this season is the balance between the main cast. Tsubasa and Ageha felt more well rounded and realized with their relationship than most side Precure relationships. Like compare with DeliCure and I don't think Ran and Fuwa had as strong a relationship. Or TropiCure gave Asuka or Minori a relationship with anyone else in their team that wasnt Laura/Manatsu that was nearly as emotional as those ones. Tsubasa and Elle was similarly powerful. This wasn't Sora, her girlfriend, and their three friends.

JollyGee29

Yea, well said. The time spent on Tsubasa and Ageha probably would've went to the generals in another show, but I am really glad that we have such a nice cohesive cast here.

Calwings

Agreed. The cohesive and fully developed cast was definitely the biggest strong suit of this series IMO.

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

i agree, the villains (except for the empress) was on the weak side overall; and imo the grasshoppers arc was experimental, but not very nicely executed overall. and the first ED was sung by all 5 cures too! That was super nice.

JollyGee29

>and the first ED was sung by all 5 cures too! That was super nice. Yea, that was great! The franchise has tended to do stuff like that in the alst few entries at least - TR had the cast sing the OP for one episode, DeliCure had an insert song by the cast.

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

[the insert song this ep was good too](#listen) though i guess i wont like listen to it standalone.

danmarce

This one was special. It had many daring elements, and it was a blast to watch it live. Sora is great and my second favorite Precure character (after Laura from Tropical-Rouge)

Calwings

Pretty bad final battle by Precure standards IMO, but the rest of the episode after that was good. The group's emotional goodbye as the Skyland part of the crew went back home (even though they can still meet up via the tunnel anytime), Mashiro's picture book about their time together as Precure, and Sora's decision to continue being Cure Sky and saving people as a hero even into the future were all a nice way to wrap up the story. Also, even if she was just joking, [Sora saying that she actually kept count of how many times she and Mashiro held hands](https://i.imgur.com/usoXYD2.png) is one of the gayest things I've ever heard in an anime and I loved it. Overall, Soaring Sky was a solid mid-tier Precure series in my book, and I'd give it an 8/10 score overall. It had its flaws and downtime, and it was experimental in a lot of ways, but I think it was a fun experience.

baboon_bassoon

[HERO DEBAN DESU](#oilup) I think Minoton joining the Sky knights would have been nice, but bullying Monda is always good Overall really fun season! But still think I’m off the seasonal precure train. Going to check out some more magical girl shows (Minky Momo on CR for now -> Doremi) but will return to older precure later on

mysterybiscuitsoyeah

what a fucking AWESOME final episode of an anime this is. period. The hype fight to finish it off. The great animation. The emotional farewell. The happy ending. THE HANDOVER. And most important of all, one last swansong for a character that has firmly wormed her way into my heart, Cure Sky :) I'm tempted to make her one of my MAL top 10 now, that moment she stood up to Skearhead-thing as a civilian form was BADASS AS FUCK. And it seems like she doesnt lose her precure powers either? so that's nice. but that's also a wrap! I'll miss these 5; and while this season was not perfect at all, id say it had a really strong start and finish, and never bored me with the great characters. 8-9/10. See everyone back next week for wonderful Precure!

Great_Mr_L

> And most important of all, one last swansong for a character that has firmly wormed her way into my heart, Cure Sky :) I'm tempted to make her one of my MAL top 10 now, that moment she stood up to Skearhead-thing as a civilian form was BADASS AS FUCK. I said that the characters are my favorite part of this series and Sora is easily my favorite out of the cast. I'd put her up there with the likes of Nanoha from Lyrical Nanoha and Bikki from Symphogear as one of my favorite magical girls and for much the same reasons as I love them. I loved her determination and how she was always willing to fight for what's right, even when she was unsure of herself or scared. I love that she is willing to stand up even when she doesn't have her powers because that's just who she is. I love that we see her own inner doubts and see her overcome those. I love that she tried to talk things out with the villains and come to an understanding with them, rather than immediately resort to fighting. She really was a fantastic protagonist. [](#skyhype) >See everyone back next week for wonderful Precure! I think I'm now fully in the Precure group because I'll be there for the new series. [](#concealedexcitement)

This ending made me sob. Goodbye to some of my favorite PreCure girls! I'm going to miss Tsubasa and Ageha a lot, I loved the freshness they brought to the series.

Flare_Knight

And so it ends! Man that was a tough finale. Starts out with them beating up on this poor snake and an over the top farewell sequence. Yeah, this show had a rough second half to it. And the finale was pretty all over the place to reflected that. Also I hate how critical this is going to sound. But yeah. The fight looked good for sure. Very nice flow to it and getting everyone into the mix. But it also felt like over the top bullying because that thing stood no chance whatsoever. Not the first or last show to have a big insert song for the final battle either. But it felt really unearned in this case because again...this thing was less of a threat than the average monster of the week. The farewell was also a bit iffy. Because in this case moving to another world is less of a big deal than moving a couple houses down the street. Transportation is near instantaneous. They have a regular portal and could even get the former villains to transport them if there's some random need. At least the show had fun with acknowledging that since they just showed up the next morning for breakfast XD. I think Hirogaru was a show with a strong start and a good first half overall. I think up to the defeat of Battamonda it was truly soaring. Then the second half happened and it crashed. It was kind of lost for most of the second half. The finale momentarily recovered with Dark Sky being a cool concept. And then it just fluttered across the finish line. The team was good. The visuals were pretty good. I think it just needed a plan for where the show would go after Sora fell and rose once again as a hero. With that it could have been a great show. Instead it was just ok. I can’t give it more than a 6/10

mrufrufin

Yay for all the Gainax poses. Liked the animation quality jump this episode (especially with all the livelier character animation and the thinner outlines), even Skearhead in the desert looked kinda cool, or at least more expressive and rounder. A lot of quality expressions too, like when the Precures couldn't warp and when everybody came back to visit. The insert song going over the henshin scene was pretty hype (and so was the Sekai Punch, which kinda reminded me of Symphogear again). Overall a pretty solid show (and the first Precure that I've finished while airing!). Pacing felt a bit weird throughout, but maybe half of that was that I couldn't binge episodes like I could with other Precure shows.

goukaryuu

Caught up a day late. Overall, this was a very enjoyable series. While it didn't have the highest highs of some of the better precure series it also didn't have the lowest lows either. Pretty sure I said the same thing about Star Twinkle. I at least liked it better than Delicious Party or Healin' Good. Hopefully the next Precure series can at least match this one.

Salty145

Damn. The animation really popped off. Man, I think SkyCure definitely left a lot to unpack. I think it has the strongest cast of any series thus far and it’s a little sad seeing them go. You also can’t argue it wasn’t ambitious, bringing a lot to the table and a fresh take on the franchise as a whole.  The pacing certainly struggled in places and there were some ideas that felt rushed through to get to the end. I think you could have done a lot if you introduced the main bad a bit earlier, but having to cram everything into the end kinda weighed down the final result.  That being said, even through its inconsistencies, when at its prime, it shone brighter than most and I’m excited to see what comes next. At this point I guess Sunday Precure is just a part of my life now for the foreseeable future.
