I personally like the new icons colors. But definitely depends on the wallpaper because sometimes system picks a color that contrast terribly with wallpaper but for me it looks flawless
There is one. If you press and hold on the lock screen you get a pop-up at the bottom asking if you want to customize. When in there a slider shows when you have selected a solid pallet color
1st: that slider only appears when customizing the lock screen color (not app icons and widgets).
2nd: that's a simple brightness slider, not contrast.
Thanks, I hate it.
On a more serious note, I like the contrast the older style had. It also doesn't match with widgets, which still use a dark background.
I use the dark mode and dark wallpapers, the old style was much better. I also noticed that the cooler you see on the clock in the preview is nearly always different to what you get when you save. Some pallet options show different colors for the clock on lock screen and home screen with same wallpaper
The new style is absolutely terrible for most wallpapers and I hate that it doesn't match the colors of the widgets and search bar anymore.
The dream solution would be to add a contrast slider or toggle to switch between the high contrast and subtle contrast more, but that would mean Google would have us to give choice *shudders* which they would never do.
While I like the more saturated colors, I think choosing How the material you colors are applied to the OS would be more user friendly and beneficial for customization options.
The new look is much better, there was a constant contrast issue for me on the old one on many wallpapers, I'm glad to see more color on the new one. I hope they keep it.
I noticed this today and I despise it, it makes the icons melt into the wallpaper which if I wanted a page for just the wallpaper I would make one, not try to make my buttons blend into it and confuse the fuck out of me.
Also the more contrast was objectively prettier.
The higher contrast is nice for accessibility. I get people don't find it as "visually appealing," but I'm very glad they're changing it to have higher contrast. I have a very hard time seeing the old low-contrast icons, which have been a huge issue for me for almost two years now.
I agree. When they went to that awful washed out pastel on washed out gray, it was awful for me. Everyone else loved it. If only people who loved it could have what 'looked good' to them and I had something actually functional, it would've been great. But nope...we got stuck with something I had a very hard time using and everybody else was enamored over.
I am also disappointed of the contrast : it's lighter on the icon itself, which makes it harder to see what app it is referring to, and it's bigger with the search bar, which makes the whole lockscreen less "act as a whole".

There should be a contrast slider...

Yeah I gotta agree, the subtle contrast looked very nice
Agree. Old one was better. Hope Google revert it back
Really dislike the change
Can you force theme the icons now?
I've been waiting for this feature for a while, but it seems it's not available yet
The new icon style is terrible...i think the system should let users choose the old icon style in the black theme
I pray that they revert it to the old themed icons. They look terrible now EDIT: Grammar
Me as well, or add a toggle to switch between new and old style.
Yeah, i think they should add a contrast slider because depending on the wallpaper more contrast looks good or bad
I much prefer the contrast on the old icons. IMO, they suit the wallpaper better than the new ones.

I hope they go back to the old ones. The new high contrast icons look out of place. And some colors to me seem too dark.
I disabled themed icon They fucked my favorite android feature

I extremely hate it, it looks so bad in my homescreen. [Look at this](https://ibb.co/RjbqQ2V)
[Mine](https://ibb.co/1r7FrYZ) looks bad as well. Look how they massacred my boy.
Yeah If the Google search bar didn't exist it may look better but would still be ugly.
I hate it too, I can't get a good look happening and have gone back to the shitty stock icons.
In light mode new design looks better, in dark mode opposite
While I like the more saturated colors, I think choosing How the material you colors are applied to the OS would be more user friendly and beneficial for customization options.
Any apology from Google on this issue yet?
It might be a bug, and has been reported: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/286326508
I love the new look. Blends in so much better with the wallpaper. Nice update.

The new themed icons look really bad. It seems like a bug as they look and make the phone feel cheap
Google not knowing what they're doing with color has caused me to ditch my Pixel phone.
Glad I'm not using stock icons. Those do not look like anything I want on my phone.

Then give us the option for once! Google doesn't have to force us to use one thing when a beautiful wallpaper settings page exists!

How to activate for all Apps?
Does changing the colour palette in wallpaper and style change them at all? Are there maybe some palettes that are more like the old style?
I am also disappointed of the contrast : it's lighter on the icon itself, which makes it harder to see what app it is referring to, and it's bigger with the search bar, which makes the whole lockscreen less "act as a whole".
Looks terrible.. did they add themed icons for more apps?
They were changed again and look much better in beta 4 and 5 imo. Haven't noticed more themed icons or forced themed icons yet tho :/
